This hike offered the perfect balance of physical activity and beautiful views The trail was about a 2hr drive from the San Jose airport. It takes you well out of immediate civilization. You aren't far enough to feel completely isolated, but you are far enough removed that it's peaceful and the air just smells more fresh The trail itself was about 3 miles long if I remember correctly. The one we took was an uphill climb to the top and then an easy downhill hike to the bottom. The flora and fauna were impressive. There are plenty of turkey vultures, other birds, and some lizards. A truly awesome sight was when we got to the top and a condor flew directly over us Some tips: There are a few hikes and trailheads in the area for you to explore The park rangers office was unoccupied when we were there and it was a honor system of dropping off payment in a nearby collection receptacle It might be difficult to spot a condor from a turkey vulture at a distance, but the head is shaped different from a turkey vulture, their sheer size is stunning, and they should be tagged under their wings Cheers!!

( it wasn't but they instructed how to view the falls from the roadway) still beautiful. We did not have ANY RECEPTION after point lobos park traveling south on pch to Bixby bridge to the Julia phifer burns park which is where the mcway falls are. Roughly an hour drive depending on variables on the road. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS MORE ROUGHLY OVER 150 miles if you are going from Carmel. We had to get a couple gallons of gas in Big Sur and it was not cheap, almost double a regular gas price. All in all good trip!

To get to this beach you have to walk down A LOT of stairs so keep that in mind. The beach itself is absolutely beautiful. Found no sand dollars but we think we did find the other thing the locals told us some are lucky to find: a couple small pieces of Big Sur jade! We were told this is the only jade that comes from the ocean as opposed to mining.... Who knows if we found actual jade but it was fun either way!

It's a ton of stairs so be mindful of what you want to carry because you start on a path from the parking lot and then it turns into stairs.. a lot of stairs! To park in the beach parking lot it's $10! This beach is simply beautiful! My yellow Labrador loved it! They also have this cut out area called jade cove! On the far north side they have a small cave! So cool! Please pick up your trash and be a good human!

It's a total hidden gem…read more There are so many wonderful play structures that kept our kids (ages 2 and up) entertained for hours--everything from the suspension bridge to the hedge maze and the classic steam engine. The park is also very well-maintained and clean, which isn't always a guarantee with public playgrounds. It's the perfect place to let the kids burn off some energy in a safe, fun environment. Highly recommend!

Other than the aquarium this was the main reason we chose to come to Monterey and stayed an extra night just to have the day to visit the park. Lucky (I guess) I saw a worker and asked why it was closed. He said if kids are in school, then Tuesdays is when they close for maintenance.

This is a nice quick walk off of Hwy 1 with a lot of roadside parking available. It's a nice quiet…read morewalk since the highway has very few cars and there's thick vegetation around. My complaint with this waterfall is that we couldn't figure out how to get to it! The signage is bad and they need to point you in the right direction more. We were prepared to climb some rocks, as we'd heard that you have to to get to the falls, but when we couldn't figure out which rocks to climb, we just turned around. We were able to see the waterfall from a distance and heard people splashing around. Definitely not a trail to walk when muddy and definitely be prepared to climb a lot of boulders to get to the waterfall.

My baby is very shy and she was able to play and make some very sweet little friends. In regards to parking it was very full but it only took me 2 rounds around the parking lot to find one. I can say that many people don't know how to park properly some were parked in double spaces. There are some handicapped parking in the front. For the mess around the park I did see some however I think that's more of the parents' job rather than the park maintenance itself. I look forward to visit this place soon

It's huge, and has things for all ages…read more Seesaws for 4 kids, a rolling conveyor belt, handicapped swings, pretend play areas, various slides, etc. It's mostly enclosed so feels safer with only one exit. But the third time we went, the bathrooms were all closed.
