I didn't wait for the use car salesman ti breakdown the final cost while sitting there for more than 2 hours, so I walk out and never going back back.. I have been going to this dentistry for a few years now and was always hesitant going in because someway somehow, they'll find a procedure I "need" done but I stayed because of the location convenience... until today. I come in for my routine cleaning and the atmosphere just feels off. The entire staff and doctors are new. The front operations manager asked if I had gotten a notice that they have new dr's but honestly, I don't recall if I ever did because my past appointments kept getting cancelled for over 5 months now. The new dentist, Dr. Lemon, examines my teeth, DRAGS the probe along my gums, I can taste the blood at this point but I sit through. He tells me he wants to do an onlay on a tooth I just recently had a filling for during my past visit??? Why do I need to do another procedure to fix a tooth that was already fixed?! And they want me to pay out of pocket because my insurance won't cover? Anyway, this will be the last visit from me at this location. Cancelled my 6mo visit as soon as I walked out and will not be returning. Stay away from here guys. Save your moneys and time! read more

I can see why their ratings are so poor after receiving the bill. $88 for "oral hygiene instructions" they charged me for 6 extra x-rays at $35 each AFTER charging for four bite wing x-rays. if the technician couldn't get a good xray, why does that come at cost to me?? CBCT at $340 (which I did NOT approve this cost) 4 intraoral photos at $90 each Additionally, their billing department doesn't get back to you or answer the phone so i can dispute these. Instead, they send dozens of letters to your house and send you to collections for no response. I've called several times with NO response. Lastly, even if I was to pay this fraudulent bill, the payment amount in the portal is $498 when the bill they sent is only $166. No explanation, no ability to see why it's that amount. Again, I tried to contact the billing department and NO response. The dentist was great. This financial headache is not worth it though. when they say dentists are crooks, this is who they mean. you really have to know your coverage because they are always wrong. always verify with your insurance company. i told the office that my insurance said otherwise and they said there is some kind of glitch or something... also, when i did my crown they didnt even offer me the crown that is covered by my insurance and i ended up paying $2xxx for a crown that they recommended. it was my fault that i didnt even question them. but they didnt even suggest that i could go for the one that is covered by my insurance. they recommended one that was made in the office same day instead of the one that can take a week to order... However, This was my first time here today and the front desk employee "Martianna Hunt" was Rude and incompetent at her position ( Martianna, if you are reading this, please seek customer service courses and learn from those courses and apply them to your job for competency!) Hint! think of putting yourself in the customers position, How would you feel ? You could not even look up my insurance correctly, contacted the wrong number you found online smh then you turned me away without "trying to help. " You stated, "i contacted your insurance and it was terminated Dec 20th ok." This was it. You have no empathy or compassion. Based on previous Yelp reviews, I was extremely hesitant to visit the office. Prior to going to my appointment, which they did reschedule for me with no problem, I reviewed the costs for the procedures. When I arrived, staff addressed me by name and confirmed the cost and what was included in the introductory special. The dentist who conducted the examination was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She explained to me what needed to be done and reviewed my x-rays pointing out the specific areas of concern. She stated her findings would be relayed to staff who would then review the costs with me. After a short time, I was presented with the cost breakdown of each procedure including covered/not covered items and my out-of-pocket cost. I was pleased with the entire experience including my interaction with staff. If there are any issues with my future appointments, I will update my review. read more

Usually I don't give any bad reviews or reviews in general, but for this one I had to. I have been a patient in Greenhaven Modern dentistry for 3 years. About a year ago a tooth chipped, I went to the dentist and was told that I need inlay. They cleaned my tooth and put a temporary filling without drying the tooth first. A day later the filling fell and I had to go back to get another temporary filling in. Again it fell 3 days after and I went to a different dentist out of state to place a temporary filling. When I returned the inlay was done, the dentist placed it and behold 24 hours later it broke. I went back the dentist told me that I would need root canal and crown ( when I complained that all of the work that happened to the tooth made it sensitive and that I shouldn't be paying for the crown) the dentist agreed that I would only pay for the root canal. I did the root canal several months later, paid for it and when the insurance refused to pay for it, they sent me the bill for the crown!!!! I contacted my insurance company to understand why it was refused, anyway they figured a solution and paid for most of it. What does this clinic do?!! They send the rest to collection! Greenhaven Modern Dentistry Well, I usually never write a bad review, but this one is necessary because if there is no warning, others could be hurt or damaged. Over a year ago, I had a root canal done at GMD and every time I went in, there was another large copay. Although I had Delta Dental, GMD charged me over $2,000. A traveling endodontist came in and proceeded with the root canal. Soon after, I noticed a slight ache, but figured it was just surrounding tissue settling down. The tooth proceeded to be cold and pressure sensitive. I kept expecting everything to settle because the root is now dead, right? As time progressed, I called and explained to them the problem and they made me another appointment with the traveling endodontist. He said the tooth was fine and the problem was the one next to it. I called the office and requested the $2,000 copay so that I could afford to have the root canal redone. One employee said she'd give me $1,500. When I called back to see when I could expect payment, someone else said that the employee no longer worked there and there was absolutely no record of a complaint in my file. She also stated that "root canals are not guaranteed! And there would not be a refund of any amount. There was another person on Nextdoor having a similar experience, (receiving monthly bills of over $1,000 for work never done). So my new dentist found "cronic apical abscess". Absolutely terrible! We had a change in insurance plans and had to look for a new dentist covered by the plan this year. Dr. Lara was highly recommended, so we gave this place a try. I scheduled appointments for both my husband and I for a new patient consultation and cleaning. My husband went first. What we didn't know is that they schedule a consultation appt, and then when you get there, they do the X-Ray and then present you with a list of a whole bunch of services as to "upsell" you for dental services you don't need (we've been going to our prior dentists for years with zero issues). Then they schedule you another appointment to come back for the actual cleaning because they can't do it the same day because they don't schedule it that way. Why does a person need 2 separate appointments just to get their teeth cleaned? Helloooooo, people have to work and need to take time off work for this, and it's not always easy! Almost 3 hours spent in their office and my husband left without a cleaning and having to come back. On top of that, our insurance covers 2x/year cleaning at no charge, yet they told him it'd be $80 when he comes back for the cleaning. When I called to inquire, they said it was for some additional services (descaling or whatever BS) which he didn't even sign up for. RUN AWAY FROM THIS "DENTAL OFFICE" IF YOU VALUE YOUR TEETH. ABSOLUTE HORROR SHOW. Went here for a second opinion after another dentist said I needed a root canal, and potentially a crown. They sat me down in the chair, took a look, and said they agreed on the work needed. As a bonus, they said they could address the problem and do it immediately, I didn't even need to get out of the dental chair. I said sure, let's do it. As they started, the dentist asked the assistant where a tool was. The assistant said it was broken and hadn't been replaced, to which the dentist replied "Ok, I'll just wing it."... I should have left immediately but didn't. The missing tool turned out to be the long wide straight suction tube that keeps water from pooling in your throat while they work, since you can't swallow. They tried using the skinny curved tube in its place. I was choking and spitting water out the entire time, spitting it all over the dental light above me, and the dentist had to keep pulling out of my mouth quickly mid-drilling. I was very uncomfortable at this point, but didn't want to leave mid-root canal. Finally, after awhile and yet another bout of choking and spitting, the dentist stopped and said "Sorry, I can't save it. We'll have to pull your tooth." I was like wait, WHAT?!? When did we go from root canal and possible crown to pulling my tooth?!?? They told me it was too bad to save and I'd have to wait for the oral surgeon to be in the office and pull it in three weeks. They took a pic of my tooth, showed me the pic and said to me again that the tooth couldn't be saved, and then started to walk me out to the front desk to make an appointment for the oral surgeon. I stopped them and said wait a minute, should this be covered with some sort of temporary cap or something? They said oh yeah, we forgot about that, good call. They put on some malleable putty and said if it crumbles away or falls off to come back. NEEDLESS TO SAY, AT THIS POINT I WAS NEVER GOING BACK. Instead, I went back to the first dentist that I'd talked to, and they were able to (complete) the root canal, prep the tooth for a crown (as Greenhaven had already removed so much material that it was mandatory at this point), put an actual hard temporary cap on while the crown was made off site, and then install the crown. AND I STILL HAVE MY TOOTH. NEVER, EVER GO TO GREENHAVEN MODERN "DENTISTRY" IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR TEETH. Poorly skilled dentists, a lack of functional equipment, and forgetting basics like covering an exposed tooth before sending a patient home made for an awful experience. read more

We have been coming here for a few years and love it. I have anxiety and had to get some fillings a few weeks ago. Dr. Chand checked in with me throughout the entire process especially when numbing me. The assistance, Kelli, was kind, caring and helped calm my anxiety down by guiding me step by step. This place is absolutely awful. I ended up coming out 1800 out of pocket after my insurance payout for things they cannot even explain to me. Had me sign up for a smile generation credit and charged there for my services only to find out that the credit is separate from what they charged on their end another 500.00 which I thought was a part of the 900.00 on the credit. Why was not everything charged to the smile generation credit? Two different portals one smile generation credit the other green haven modern dentistry to pay two separate bills that should have all been charged on the credit. Did not realize this and was charged late fees cause I did not pay in the other portal because they are separate. Came back few weeks later had my teeth cleaned for my insurance check paid off the credit only for them to come back and tell me I owe an additional 500.00 because my insurance is capped out for the rest of the year. When I asked about what was charged to the credit card they signed me up for they told me they had no affiliation with that and cannot look at it on their end. So when I ask for an invoice for the first visit they flat out refuse to send it to me stating "we are only calling about your second visit" ok?? So what the hell services did I charge on the credit for? They totally confuse you with what your actually paying for and signed me up on some credit card and then tell me "we are not affiliated with Smile Generation" lol they try to confuse you and trick you into paying for shit you end up having no idea what you paid for. I'm convinced they got an additional 500-600 out of me for absolutely nothing. I got two crowns done at this place and I wish I would have paid attention to the red flags because I paid the price later. Their technology was breaking down on almost every visit and they were running at least an hour behind every time I had an appointment. There were not enough staff to support my dentist which also slowed down the process. After my crowns were placed I could tell immediately that they were very messed up. I went back and forth with them several times for 'bite correction appointments' which also took hours. I worked both with my initial dentist AND with the head dentist, but they were unable to fix my bit or even explain to me what was going on. They certainly didn't admit to any mistake. In fact the head dentist gaslit me trying to make me think it was all in my head. She said that 'I was just focusing on it' and that 'I would get used to it after a few weeks' and that 'the bite isn't that bad.' But I was in pain, my jaw felt crooked, and I could not eat my food properly. Thank god I found a specialist who confirmed that the crowns were indeed twice as thick as they should have been. This was not the extent of the issue however. One of the crowns' margins were off, still allowing decay to enter, so it needed to be completely redone. Every time work is done on these teeth the chance that I will need a root canal increases, so this dentist actually put me at greater risk by doing a shoddy job initially. The specialist also showed me where they had chipped a perfectly healthy tooth next to where they placed the faulty crowns. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is to fess up to what has happened. You should not leave your patient feeling confused and scared as to what is going on with their mouth. It was only after I could prove what damage had occurred by having the specialist send over x-rays and documentation that they gave me my money back. This dentist has signs all over their establishment making it look like crowns are their specialty but be forewarned! I would highly recommend you get a second opinion and go somewhere else to get that work done. read more

My husband had a terrible experience at Greenhaven Modern Dentistry. He went there today for the first and last time. They told him he needed dental work done that he didn't need (a crown). They said he had a gum infection and they needed to address it. Our previous dentist (who retired), told us that when we go to a new dentist and if they say we need expensive dental work done on our teeth, we should not believe them. Our previous dentist said our teeth are in excellent condition and if a new dentist tells us something different, then they are just trying to make money off of us. We feel that is what Greenhaven Modern Dentistry is doing. Plus, their prices are outrageous. They billed Medicare $360 for four x-rays (4x$90). Our old dentist charged $108 for the same four x-rays (4X$27) Beware of these people!! read more

I was thinking of going to a 4.9 stars, all women only location in Midtown but since I thought Greenhaven is closer to me, I'd give it a chance because they aren't that far from me. I seen a lot of 1-3 stars because the reasons were "they didn't care for their patients" "they were rude" etc etc. I'm a new patient of theirs so I gave them a call to schedule an appointment. From the tone of her voice, it sounded like she hated her job, she had a bad day or the fact that I called. Me being a new patient, she asked for my info such as member ID number, address, email etc etc to put me in their system. (FYI I even had to repeat my info for her the second time slowly) I was able to get an appointment the same day. The lady said that I'll get a text for their MyChart for check in and stuffs, I clicked the link and logged in. Once I logged, half of my email and address wasn't even entered correctly. Just by her tone made me not even wanna go in so I cancelled the appointment. Now I'm for sure going to the 4.9 stars location. read more

This office does not seem to care about patients. Especially the two people working at the front desk who seem to spend most of their time giggling and joking around. They are unhelpful, unprofessional and spoke to me in a condescending way when I asked one of them a few questions she did not know the answers to. The Dentist does not know what she's doing. She's always in a rush, doesn't pay attention to detail and blames me for her inability to provide me the right treatment and dental procedures. If I could give zero stars I would. I have been to this office twice. Once for a cleaning and checkup which then right after X-rays I was told I had a fractured tooth (which indeed I did) and needed a deep root scaling. Ok fine, had that done then went back the following week to have my fractured tooth shaved down and a temp crown put on. I was scheduled for an appt for a root canal. I haven't gone back yet. Today, my daughter goes in for a cleaning. She is 24. She specifically says I just want a cleaning, They get her in, do X-rays etc and then tell her she has early stages of gum disease and that she needs to have her gums deep cleaned. My daughter says no she just wanted a cleaning and can schedule the deep cleaning at a later time. The dentist proceeds to tell her that since she has been diagnosed with gum disease she now cannot have a regular cleaning. I called down there because that didn't sound right to me and I was told the dentist had come back out to speak to my daughter about options but she had already left. I'm really disappointed that when a patient asks for something, you go around that and tell her something else. Not happy at all and will be looking for a new dentist office. read more

Do not go to this dentist. As another reviewer stated, technology was always breaking, hours of time wasted (they were always behind), and we now know that they were making up issues we had so they could up charge us. Here are some specifics: -husband was taken back and put in a chair--then left for over an hour. He had to get up and find someone who told him that the machine they were using kept breaking the crown they were trying to make. And that the person who normally makes them was home sick. -he was told he needed a deep cleaning (that insurance didn't cover, so it would be out of pocket). We ended up getting another opinion and he most definitely did not need it. -The crown that finally went in after several attempts and bad appts broke within a few months while he was eating. The last dentist we had for years and NOT ONCE did we have to come out of pocket. He sadly is not accepting our plan after an employment/benefits change which is how we ended up in this mess. It was a red flag that they were quoting thousands of out of pocket work that was needed. Glad we went for second opinions. Shame on them for using their patience as a bank. read more

My first scheduled appointment for the previous week with modern dentistry was postponed at the last minute by Modern Dentist for emergency reasons. They never gave me a real reason. So they are trying to reschedule over the phone but their new date conflicts with my vacation schedule ...So Modern Dentistry comes up with a new date, tues 5-2-2023 8:45 in the morning for my cleaning right before I leave for vacation on 5-3-2023. I let them know that will work...to make a long story short. I get there this Tuesday morning for my cleaning and they let me know after waiting in the chair for a hour that this visit was only for assessment and they'll reschedule me another time for my cleaning! This after I drove from Fairfield this morning to get here and keep in mind only to get my teeth cleaned before my vacation! Wasted half my day and gas money is not cheap!! Totally unprofessional behavior and their total disregard and disrespect for patients was definitely eye opening. My wife and I canceled all future appointments. Horrible dentist! My aunt went to this dentist & paid thousands of dollars (charged $6,000 on her credit card) to have an upper denture and a a new partial bridge. She went without teeth for 4 months! Yes, FOUR months causing major depression. This dentist on day one yanked teeth out of her mouth! She was embarrassed to go to church, see any friends or go out of the house. She did a few times out of necessity wearing a mask!!! She couldn't eat, was buying protein drinks and was in pain. Finally after being brushed off for all these months when she got her teeth at the last appointment the dentures didn't fit, they were literally falling out and flopping around and the dentist told her "Oh well just deal with it!" By the way my aunt is over 80 years old. These folks are so incredibly unethical it makes me sick. My poor aunt didn't know what to do, as she had already paid this dentist that she kept hoping things would get better. She finally went to another wonderfully dentist and found out that she had been taken advantage of & for only out of pocket $475 is all fixed up with a great smile and able to eat. It will take awhile for her mental health to heal as this was fairly traumatic for a trusting senior citizen. read more

Dr. Kian Nikdel, DDS Is awesome! He is a specialist there and did a root canal for me today. Usually there is pain for me at some point but no pain not even when numbing me. He has very gentle hands and awesome with kids. Him and his assistant Emily and another new assistant really kept my 2 year old happy and safe during my visit. Thanks again guys! I had a wonderful experience as a new patient here and getting a cleaning and exam after 5 years! I feel silly that I didn't fill out my paperwork online beforehand so that made my appointment longer, so now I know! Front desk guy was really polite, I think his name was Alfredo and he was able to juggle a couple patients at a time when it got busy. The dental assistant Tanisha, (hope I spelled her name right) was really sweet and fast with my x rays, Dr Guevara-Lara & Shaina were really friendly and answered any questions I had about my teeth and brushing habits. I have just started going to this dentist office and I only have great things to say about it. All the RDA's I have interacted with were great about checking in with me about any teeth pain and answering my questions. Dr. Svetlana is a great dentist, she's gentle and actively listens to my dental anxiety concerns. I had a root canal done by Dr. Kian Nikdel and the RDA, Chris and both were awesome. Chris did a great job at calming my nerves, answering my questions and making sure I was doing good during the root canal. I came here for my first cleaning since we switched over today. First thing that threw me off was the tech saying I was scheduled for a "deep" cleaning. I told her no, just a basic cleaning. She said okay and proceeded with the scans. The dentist then came in, stabbed at my gums a few times, and told me I have early stage gum disease. She then told me my cleaning today would include some sort of laser treatment and antibacterial wash. The reception then came in and went over pricing for an ENTIRE periodontitis treatment plan. I told her I did not want any if this and just wanted a basic cleaning. She grabbed the dentist again and I told her the same thing. The dentist then told me that since she just diagnosed me with gum disease, I could no longer receive basic cleanings, I could only ever get the advanced cleaning that would cost $700 after insurance. Are you kidding me? They told my mom the exact same thing. I told her I wasn't do that so I would just go home. After a conversation between them and my mom since I am on her insurance, the office requested I call them. I called, they were busy and requested I call again tomorrow. Yesterday, December 15, 2020 was the second time I have had my deep cleaning performed by Shaina at this dental office. And like the first time, she explained to me the procedures and the costs involved. She was very professional, meticulous, patient, and caring when she did my teeth deep cleaning twice. Unlike my prior teeth deep cleaning experiences where my gums and my mouth were sore a day or two after the cleaning, this time with Shaina doing it things were done smoothly and no pain at all during and after the procedures. Jae the front desk person is very nice and easy to talk to. Nelly does her work as an RDA in a calm, professional, and easy way. My dentist, Svetlana, is also very competent and you got the feeling that she cares for her dental patients. I highly recommend this dental office based on my experience. read more

I don't even know where to begin. The management is amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. My appt. had to be moved. I ended up going to a sister location for part of my treatment. When, I got back to Greenhaven modern to get my permanent crown, the operations manager checked over things and found that what I was charged for at the sister location was inclusive in my insurance. I had the absolute WORST experience ever yesterday 12/7/20 while receiving an oral survey by dr. chang He was so insensitive, so rude, very short with his explaining as if I can understand dental terminology and verbiage ? This is not my field. Not once did he say anything consoling or anything that made me comfortable, granite it's a surgery so of course it's going to be painful???? Lastly, he slammed the glasses on my face that is used to protect my eyes from the bright light as if he couldn't have handed them to me and I could put them on myself? I left the building in tears because never in my 30 years of living have I ever felt so disrespected and beneath anyone I left crying because I was angry more than anything I wasn't worried about my pain at that moment. His assistants were amazing they felt my uncomfortableness and did everything in their power to help the situation. I would not recommend him to ANYONE AND I plan on escalating this further up. read more
