In 2015 we worked with Jose to redo our backyard and were extremely pleased with the results. Our review for that can be found in another review below. This summer we finally decided to have our front yard done and went straight to Jose. Like 2015, we could not have been more happier with the process and the results. The process starts with a vision, giving Jose a rough idea of what you want done, and not done. Jose quickly creates plans that you iterate on until you have an agreement. But the vision and iteration continues through the build, with Jose checking in to make sure he has a happy customer. When there are issues or questions, Jose is quick to respond via phone or text, and is often on site for quick consultations. For the front yard we replaced the old concrete driveway and walkways with pavers, widening the driveway for easier access to 2 vehicles and a motorcycle. We added a stone faced and topped wall, tiled the porch, and finished with low voltage lighting, rocks around a large tree, sod and irrigation. We also had some additional work done on the back yard, putting shrub irrigation and low voltage lighting in PVC to protect from a digging dog, and added some border pavers that were not part of the original project 6 years ago. As stated is the older review, working with Jose is working with an artist. He has the ability to realize his customer's vision with ease. His team is extremely professional, courteous and neat, always cleaning up after each work day. We are very glad to have gone back to Greenlife for this project, and even happier that we can call Jose our friend! read more

I have recommended Jose and his team at Greenlife to neighbors and friends, and decided it's time to add my positive comments here on Yelp. In 2018, we wanted to completely overhaul our front and back yards. We were after no more grass in front and the back was just not pretty! After looking at tons of photos online, I drew a simple design on note paper and called 3-4 companies to come out to discuss and make bids. Jose was the only one who offered to draw a more formal plan. He also asked the most questions to understand what I wanted. We were very happy with his plans based on my cursory designs, and hired him without a doubt. His workers were skilled, respectful, and efficient. Jose came by every day, and was responsive to our requests. One day I noticed they were making the front walkway head straight to the door when I wanted it to curve. I texted Jose and he immediately replied that it would be corrected. And it was. We didn't really know what plantings we wanted so other than telling Jose that I love hydrangeas and the color orange, and that we planned to paint our house red, we left those choices to him. We also had some patio tiles we wanted to reuse but we didn't have enough for the larger space so Jose needed to buy more. An exact match couldn't be found so he brought us several choices--one which was a perfect contrasting color. Both the front and back yards turned out fabulously! We are so pleased! read more

We could not be more pleased with the work done by Jose Milan and his team!. At the design phase, we changed our ideas several times. Each time, Jose was patient and helpful and provided suggestions. We then decided to add a bench to our backyard, add a planter and move some trees. The bench came out to be excellent....the team was very detailed in their work. We couldn't be happier with our decision to work with Greenlife Design and Construction for our backyard project. We put off redoing our backyard for some time because the project seemed overwhelming and we weren't sure where to begin. After our first conversation with Jose Millan we felt at ease. There were basic concepts we were looking for and Jose was able to put them on paper which helped us visualize what was possible. He made it easy to understand based on his experience and was very open to hear our feedback. It was a pretty big project that included demolition, fixing a drainage issue, building a kitchen, fire pit, pergola and slate tile. It came out better than we could have imagined. As we begin to use the area more, I am noticing nice touches that were never expected- multiple electrical outlets, added storage space, overhead lighting, and an even extra water spigot. Even better is how we were quoted a more than fair price. There were a few changes changes to the design and materials, but the cost stayed the same. It was very nice to never be hit with unexpected charges. The team was very courteous and worked hard. The attention to detail was obvious every step of the way. We interviewed several people before choosing Jose and Greenlife Construction to completely overhaul our backyard. From day one Jose was amazing. We told him our thoughts on what we wanted, he did a scaled drawing with everything we wanted and added some changes which were much better than we could have imagined. His creativity and design ideas are amazing. He's always thinking how it can be better and comes up with ideas that we loved. We had our backyard and front yard recently completed by Green Life ... They did an excellent job with all the work. Jose Millian is the owner. He has wonderful guys working for him in various jobs. Pablo is an incredible mason working with rock...Julio was the expert with our Cal-stone pavers. We had them execute our master drawings ...from the very bottom of the infrastructure to the planting of our gardens. They are incredibly easy to work with...anytime we had a question or concern it was addressed immediately. Greenlife Lanscaping /Construction did an excellent job landscaping our front yard! They also replaced the driveway, front park strips, and even installed new rock veneer and four posts to the front of our house. The work turned out incredible, on time and below budget. Jose worked with us every step of the way, including helping with the design, offering suggestions, keeping the workers focused and meeting with us periodically to make sure we were happy with the progress. Jose only wanted payment as sections were finished, on our timetable, and only if we were completely satisfied with the work. We're still getting compliments from passersby, a year after the job was completed, and everything looks great! We just finished a front yard remodel and I couldn't be happier. I have done a few large remodels and I have never worked a contractor with more integrity and pride in work. It began from the moment he called me (which was soon after I left my first message, which is very rare). Our project consisted of enlarging our existing front patio, enlarging and laying a new driveway, creating a new park strip and adding landscaping. As the project progressed, I changed a few of my ideas and added new projects, and Jose never made me feel like it was an inconvenience, I was always met with "we'll make it happen"! When the new stone we ordered arrived, it was not a perfect match (no fault of Jose's, just the uniqueness of real stone), I told Jose I could live with it and he said "no, it's not perfect and I won't let you settle". I have never had a contractor tell me not to settle. Our job came in completely on budget (even after I added a few extras), again, not something I have had happen in the past. I could go on and on! I was seeking a new landscape company and turned to yelp. In the past I have done several major landscape projects which have turned out well, but where actually reaching the finishing line was a big challenge. I.e. Contractors who start fast and finish slow, finishing up while fitting you in between new jobs. When I found Greenlife it appears to be a dream come true. They are busy so I had to wait a few weeks to start...but once they started it was full force and they finished right on schedule, which was quite aggressive. Clean up each day was excellent, and the workers were all so polite and appreciative. This was a wonderful experience. Just for reference..my project include removal of an underground Jacuzzi, hardscape work, lighting, sitting wall, and edging. Jose the owner is terrific. Thumbs up to them! read more

My wife and I are extremely happy with their work. We just finished 2 weeks of construction, on time and on budget. Their bid was below the median bid price, but not so low as to be unrealistic. The project was in writing and payments made when stages were finished. We made corrections when needed and they were gracious about correcting any issues. This company is contracted to do landscaping at our condo complex. They are generally onsite 2-3 days a week. Yet our complex is full of weeds, areas of grass not maintained, bushes that are poorly trimmed, etc. I have previously asked the gardeners to remove weeds from a large area and they told me "Next time". Well its been weeks and they are still there. I generally see the guys sitting under a tree chatting for a good portion of their visit. With as many workers as they have there as many days of the week you'd think our place would be the garden of Eden instead of an overgrown mess. read more

Jose Millan created art for our yard. We wanted to get a drought resistant garden, replacing the grass that had been dead for several years as we decided not to waste water on grass. We also needed to repave our backyard deck and extend it, and replace the sidewalk leading to our front porch. Jose came out, listened to our goals, made great suggestions, and sketched his vision while we talked. We could see that his sketches were what he could imagine with his artist's eye. We ended up with a beautiful front garden featuring a hill, a couple of Japanese maples, and plants that he took us down to pick out ourselves. He widened our sidewalk with beautiful stamped concrete. Our front yard went from an embarrassing ugliest on the block to the most beautiful. And all this work was being done while we experienced a lot of heavy rainfall. Jose scheduled his work around that, and we love the result. He and his team were very friendly and really professional.
