I've been eating here for 9 years and everything on the menu is great. The staff is wonderful and kids under 5 eat for free. The restaurant has lots of sports memorabilia around and gives out a great atmosphere. Some of my favorites are the crab cake and salmon citrus salad. I can't say enough positive things about this place. I am moving and will miss it dearly. Also I just read some negative reviews and am calling them out on it. I love this place for carry out. The chili is my go to. With order of fries. When I get home I dump the chili on the fries. To good.

Friendly service from the young server was a plus. The large menu selection would allow most people to easily find something, but vegan/vegetarian options were very limited. (Just having a $14 Impossible Burger option - you can get 2 for $10 at Burger King and the offer to leave off the meat on the salads are really not much of a choice.) Three of the four vegetarians in our group went with a collection of sides, and the other went with an appetizer. They did a good job with some of the food. Cheese quesadillas were nicely grilled, the sweet potato fries were warm with a slight crunch on the outside, and the beer-battered onion rings were eaten quickly. On the other hand, the regular fries were limp and lukewarm. The $9.50 mozzarella sticks were OK but seemed to be grocery store frozen quality. At $12, the mushroom burger (and other burgers) should come with a choice of fries or onion rings, and not just cheap potato chips. We had a good time and we enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere. read more

Food was better than ok. Service by the particular wait person was very good. Drawbacks were that the chicken wing appetizer came out after the main course. The server said it was because the kitchen was backed up which could be the case but there was plenty of parking available the Sunday eve. However, It's not ok that the appetizer not be first. That the whole idea of it being an appetizer plus it was cold when I finally got to eat it.....! Was still pretty good though. The other thing was that the hostess had a "too" open discussion with a member of the wait staff about mask wearing..... could have been an issue with a patron but that's also a no no do do so in ear shot of customers. Food was tasty though. We'll be back but work on the kitchen and hostess/staff communication. read more

If there was a 1/2 it would be 3 1/2. We had started make it the place we would go this past year. Someone else comment, it depends. We order some of the same things off and on. The French Dip is good most of the time and the Buffalo Wrap is good. The portions are not consistent and see others have mentioned this too. Where they fall and rise depending is the staff, mostly common is being seated and sitting as others seated after are being served and no one shows. Being told didn't know they seated someone. Ask for a booth when we have the kids to be told the wait will be over 40 minutes and sit a table and see 2 open up in minutes (multiple times). There are great servers and more poor. Saw a comment about glass size, they have larger glasses and the great servers have brought them. The bus staff is top notch and they have proven to the save with refills, clearing the table, napkins, and that is big when the kids with us. Mentioning the kids, we have a 4 and 5 year old (we all love what I call Balloon Monday) and they ask if we can go. On 2 of our recent visits we order their food first so that they can eat and it comes out cold after waiting. Wish I had the names of the 3 great servers that when we get them are service is tremendous. On 1 occasion around mid March there was Red Velvet cake and when we ordered they had run out (had the 5 yr old with us). A few days later we ran late and stopped to get something quick and the same server got us and asked "we have the cake let me put 1 to the aside for you". Will we keep going back, yes. We just might not be as frequent. read more

I swear, y'all, this is the greatest restaurant in the state of Maryland. Everybody who works here is awesome, super friendly and attentive. Any crab dish is spectacular. The beer selection is MASSIVE. The community feel is perfect, lending to an atmosphere that is ideal for a meal or beer (or several) after work. Where to begin: First off I was there with my wife and mother in law. We ordered BBQ shrimp as and app. Bacon it was wrapped in was raw. Sent back. I ordered the steak carbonara with a cup of chili. The chili came out first as expected. It was not only cold but very tomatoey. It was basically spaghetti sauce with kidney beans added to it. Sent back. I ordered my steak cooked medium. It came out medium well. Sent back for refire. The crab cakes my mother in law and wife ordered were ice cold. Sent back. Cream of crab soup was lumpy and frozen still. Sent back. When my fish came back out the steak was now well done. Sent back again. At this point we were speaking to the manager. Who informed us(mind you I'm a former sous chef) that the warmer for the soups didn't have water in the basin. That the chili was pre packaged. And they add stuff to it to make it "chili". I have at this point given up on the cooks capability to cook the steak the way I asked. So I didn't eat. The manager. Was very unapologetic. Our check was $58. After he took $30 off. This was my first time here and certainly will be my last. read more

I really want to love this place. When it's good, it's very good but when it's not it's very disappointing. My husband loves the fish and chips. The first time he had it about a month ago it was amazing. A huge portion, fresh and tasty. This time it was heavy and very greasy. The fries were broken little pieces and barely warm. As in leftover from lunch. But when they are fresh they are top notch. One more thing that would really up their game would be good homemade ranch dressing. The salads are great but the dressings are meh. I'm going to give them another try though because the staff is wonderful. They just need the food to be consistent. read more

A local favorite, Greenmount Station is your one stop shop for Maryland crab, hearty burgers, and a wide selection of beer. You'll find the restaurant packed on weekend nights (don't forget to call ahead!) and filled with sports fans on game days. A few of my favorites from the menu include the crab dip, Smithfield salad, turkey burger (on huge wheat bread!), any of their wraps, and sweet potato fries. The food is good, but there's always something slightly off when I order. If you do carry-out, definitely check your order before leaving the parking lot. I don't think it's a lack of staff, because every 30 sec. a new person asks if I've been helped. It seems like a little more coordination and training might be in order. My goto is usually the crab cake or bison burger with a nice IPA. You know I've been to Greenmount so many times and I have yet to say anything about it so I figured it was about time. Having lived in Hampstead for almost 7 years now, there aren't that many decent dining options. Over the years there have been about 839 different pizza/italian places and another 29 Chinese places, all of which have been decidedly mediocre. Greenmount has been the one stable good ol' bar and grill restaurant. Greenmount has a good selection of salads, apps, sandwiches and entrees. I enjoy coming here because there are some decent healthy options on the menu. Their bison burger gets my burger craving fulfilled without being completely unhealthy. The grilled chicken sandwich is solid and their spinach salad is fantastic. I've had a few other sandwiches and entrees and they have all been good, but there's nothing that really stands out for me. In general, Greenmount's dishes won't overwhelm you with their flavor but you'll get exactly what you wanted, how you ordered it and you'll enjoy it. I will say that when I came for their all you can eat shrimp and ribs, the ribs and shrimp were very hit or miss. Probably depends what batch you get since they are turning it out so quickly. Outside of that, nothing has disappointed me there. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their bar. Greenmount's bar area is actually pretty nice with tons of TVs around. They don't have a huge draft beer selection but they carry tons of micros and crafts in bottles. Probably 50+ not including seasonal selections. I will also mention that service tends to be a bit slower than what I'd expect but other than that servers are attentive and do a good job. One neat thing they have, at least for me, is online ordering. It's a little wonky at time but at least I can double check to make sure my order is right before I hit send. Hooray for avoiding human interaction! Greenmount is my go to sit down restaurant in Hampstead. Now, their competition is exactly the who's who of Zagat but you'll undoubtedly have an enjoyable experience at Greenmount no matter what you get. read more

Greenmount Station can be outstanding; and sometimes, you wish you only stood outside!! I've lived in the area for over 20 years and have eaten here many, many times. The fries are always good! So is the grilled asparagus. The beer too. My favorite meal is the Shrimp Alashus sandwich on whole wheat toast with LTMFO. Ask for extra seafood seasoning. I usually always get this. The numerous dinners we've had often leave you hungry. For the money, there is a lot of empty space on the increasingly smaller plates they use. The food is tasty, but nothing that stops your chewing to savor. It seems like they are heading to more sandwiches and bar fare. Maybe the money is better. It's a shame; before there was Yelp, I'd yelp about their seafood entrees!! They have a lot of signs about their crab cakes. Most folks I've taken there are disappointed by the dollop of crab meat you get for the money. WHY do I keep going back? Why is it so crowded all the time? How have they have expanded so much over the years? It is a good, upscale bar food place. You will like what you get. The service is great. They have lots of specials and weekday coupon deals. We had purchased a discount coupon for Greenmount Station some time back, and noticed it was about to expire. So on the spur of the moment, we decided to give it a try for lunch early in the week. First impression was in the parking lot - the only spaces left were reserved for the bank. And don't think about parking at the bowling alley lot adjacent, as signs warn you that you will be towed. But they did have extra spaces (overflow, as the posting said) at a building next door. We took this as a positive, all the spaces taken early in the week for lunch with loyal patrons. My wife is a vegetarian, and at first glance thought the choices slim for her dietary restriction. But they had a good deal of sides, so she was able to make a meal out of 2 sides and a salad. She especially enjoyed the grilled asparagus, paring it with the aforementioned fresh crispy salad and a baked sweet potato cooked well enough the sugars began to caramelize - a plus. I started with a cup of Maryland Crab Soup. The portion was small, but loaded with vegetables and a good spicy flavor. I followed it up with a sandwich comprised of half jumbo lump crab cake (very little filler) and nicely spiced shrimp salad on rye. Our coupon was for $30, and our tab came to ~$26. I was ready to just give he waitress tip money and forget about the difference, and was a bit taken aback when our server said we couldn't use the coupon unless we spent at least $30. REALLY???? But the lunch was too good to argue, so we ordered a piece of cooked cheesecake to go (which was enjoyed later that day) and we do plan to go back without a coupon. read more

I am going to largely reserve judgement on this place, and instead tell you about my experience with this restaurant. UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM, along with tips to the manager of the restaurant. I have been here three times. The first time, I had some sort of spicy salad with chicken. I think it might have been the Sante Fe chicken salad. My wife had a Taco salad, which she really wasn't impressed with and our friends had burgers. Myself, and my friends enjoyed our meals. The second time I went back by myself during the day, and had that same salad, and when I cut into the chicken it was raw. My waitress was nice and accomodating and took it off my bill. She said they had just hired a new cook. However, that experience left a bad taste in my mouth(no pun intended), and I hadn't been back there before last night. So after a great deal of time, my wife and I tried the restaurant once again for take out. We ordered spicy chicken wings, a mushroom and swiss burger, and again she thought she would try the Taco Salad. A problem: We get home, and my burger is fine, and so are the chicken wings, but THERE WAS NO MEAT IN HER TACO SALAD..... An example of the service: I called the restaurant, and the person who had waited on us was very sorry, and took my phone number and said it was rediculous, and said she would talk to the manager about taking that item off of our bill. The manager called me back a few minutes later, and said he adjusted that item off of our credit card bill, appoligized, and asked for my house address so he could send us a gift certificate. He explained they had recently hired a new cook, but said he thought there really was no excuse for what we experiinced. So, I give this restaurant an A+ for service. The service and attitude there seems to be the best I have ever encountered. The Food: The food I will give a C, because sometimes the food can be pretty good, and other times, there can be some big mistakes. The first time my wife got the taco salad, we weren't impressed with it, even thought at that time it did have the meat on it. I don't know why she tried it again, but either way she should have never gotten home to find the salad had no meat. Ambiance: I would say is a solid C+, or maybe a B for what the place is. Half restaurant, and half sports bar. I would say the sports bar side is pretty nice for what it is supposed to be, and it is up to date. The dinning room side is nice, and quiet, with lots of wood, and maybe I remember some brass railing. I was polite when I told them this was the second time there was a mistake and we probably wouldn't be going back there, and they wanted to try again to please us so they sent us a gift certificate. Since they are sending us that gift certificate, and both the cashier and manager were so nice and proffesional, I think we will try it just one more time in the future. With that kind of service, I think they are worth at least one more try. Update as of 3/8/2012 Okay we have been back a few times, and everything has been fine here. The customer service at this restaurant is superb, and the food is okay. Tips for the restaurant owners: The bacon in the Buffalo Chicken salad tends to taste old, and slightly rancid. I imagine it is made way before hand and kept in the fridgerator too long. Make it fresh, or at least much closer to serving time, and it will add to the dish, instead of taking away from it. Your Taco salad really needs some changes. That salad is basically a standard salad with taco meat and cheese on it. I recomend going to some other restaurants and ordering it yourself to see how it should look. Although I do get the Buffalo Chicken salad and scoop off the bacon, I would not recommend the taco salad to anyone. If they improve the food, I would be glad to give this restaurant another star. Terrible with food allergies and staff is very rude and unwilling to listen to customer and their needs. No gluten free options at all. Wouldn't recommend going here if you have a food allergy or if you want quality food. All of the food there is greasy which isn't the worst thing but it definitely wasn't good. read more

This is a great place to eat lunch and dinner. Reasonable pricing on their food and high quality food as well. My only complaint is that while they have a bar it is not a bar. This is more of a family established dining area. I have seen on more than one occasion people be asked to leave due to high volume and or offensive language. Which is fine, but you have to expect a little bit of rowdy-ness when you have a bar. Still a cool place though. read more
