My husband and I came here for a date night. This establishment was a typical Maryland Italian restaurant, which means it is trying to be fancy with lackluster food at escalated prices. The bread served was clearly baked pizza dough. The meals were also suffering from taste. We also suspect that the restaurant purchases food from Sysco or other large restaurant food resources and doesn't modify it. The strawberry drink I had was good. We wouldn't come back here as it wasn't worth the money to food quality. read more

I ordered the Italian Wedding soup and the Pollo Margarita. The soup had no taste and bland. I thought that maybe it was just me, so I asked my friend to taste it too. No taste. Also, the chicken in the Pollo Margarita was slimy and honestly, again, no taste! My friend ordered the meatballs, the sauce had flavor but also tasted like a familiar jar sauce, nothing special. My wife & I were raised on South Philly Italian food. You can't nail the basics (spaghetti/meatballs), you got a problem with tough graders like us. The Main courses are alright but theres so many better Italian restaurants you could go too for better quality food. Ive only been here a few times but every time its been excellent every time. Waitstaff is well trained and friendly, drinks are great, and food is excellent. We usually come with a large group as well. The last time I got the waitress recommended dish a breaded chicken in a lemon sauce over spaghetti and it was great. (We have been going to Paradiso since it began in the 1980s. As we grew older in recent years we went for Happy Hour and a few drinks. To night will probably be the last time. We arrived sat at our usual table ordered drinks and ask for happy hour menu. The server said this menu is only for folks sitting at the bar, when did this change? Server was confused and really did not give us an answer we could understand. We had one drink and left, Paradiso just lost a check in the amount of probably around $70 Plus 2 customers. and by the way the bar has 11 bar stools, so do hurry if you want to partake in their happy hour menu, which is not inexpensive. read more

The have great service great food and I've been going here for years with my family. It has a very fancy ambiance which my oldest loves about the place. She says she wants to be an architect when she grows up to design something like this. My son likes it because of the food and one of his favorite workers who is so nice to him and before she left the business she let my two,kids to the kitchen to make there own ice cream in the freezer. A fancy Italian restaurant, I guess. I enjoyed my food here a lot, and service was good, but the hostess sat my partner and I upstairs, alone, and I feel like it's because we both have dyed hair. Seems like a Westminster thing to do. The group before us and after us were say downstairs, and nobody else was sat upstairs until we were almost finished our meal, when it was close to prime dinner time. As for food? I went with the simple Bolognese and the house made sauce was awesome. We also had some tomato appetizer thing with mozz, and that was really good. We've been going for 30 years. I was told this is under new owners. I noticed all new wait staff and bartender. My Bloody Mary had too much Tabasco sauce. Our server forgot the olives in my husband martini . It took a while to get our drinks, even though only 3 people sitting at the bar. Our server admitted they had not opened a bottle of wine before. It took forever just to remove the foil. And they struggled horribly with the cork. I felt bad for our server, but our server fell very short in service from the professional servers we had under the original owners. Didn't even offer us Parmesan for our pasta. The usually good marinara sauce did not seem the same, no spice, just a tomatoey taste. ItalIan wedding soup had no flavor. The bread was stale. Won't be back. read more

We ordered calamari appetizer, 2 pasta dishes that come with side salads. One of the pasta dish was seafood Alfredo we added chicken to it. My fiancé was so upset. The pasta literally tasted like a hint of heavy cream and BUTTER! It had no seasoning what's so ever. The only thing we enjoyed was the marinara sauce that came with the calamari. I ordered Tortellini Rose and added peas to it. It was decent but wasn't worth the price. The garlic bread had nothing on it. It was literally just toast! If I could give Paradiso six stars, I would! First let's start with the staff - the bartenders (Erin and Joe) are both super attentive and create a fun, congenial atmosphere, reminiscent of the bar from "Cheers". Don't pass up Joe's specialty drink "The Godfather" or Erin's fabulous espresso martinis. If you're not dining at the bar, request Maddie - she will make your dinner a fabulous experience! The food is also outstanding - the seafood dishes ranging from the shrimp appetizer to the oysters paradiso special will have you feeling like you just came out of the Mediterranean after a refreshing dip. My personal favorite is the veal saltimbocca, with a luxurious, unctuous, rich sauce and super tender pieces of calf. Sal clearly cares deeply about the quality of his ingredients, and it is not lost on you when dining at his establishment. I'm going back tonight! read more

Downhill! We've been going here on and off for 20 years! I'm so disappointed! We ordered drinks first. Our waitress disappeared for a while. It was a Saturday for lunch, with one other group eating. We finally ordered salads and spaghetti bolognese. Our salads came out quick and were good. However, when our bolognese arrived, it was like a joke. We got the exact same thing... I had very little pasta, tons of sauce and hardly any meat! It looked like soup. My friend had a good amount of pasta, just the right portion of sauce and chunks of meat. I was so disappointed, because how does a waitress and the kitchen think this is ok. The meals should look exactly the same. I finally located our waitress and explained it to her.she said she noticed and would let kitchen know. She never showed up at the end of our meal so another waitress gave us our check and nothing was deducted from our bill. Another group came in while we were eating. For a Saturday they were slow, you'd think they could step up customer service. I've been going to Paradiso for years and always had good food and service. I understand prices have to increase but, to charge me $2.00 per martini for olives is a bit much! I think the new owners have lost their minds . The service is not what it used to be the waitress was young , she was pleasant but not as professional as we were used too. I was told the cook was the same if so he was off his game last nite. I tend to think the new owners are buying cheaper product. After being seated we were not given silverware or napkins nor were we given a bread dish. Come on Paradiso wake up before you are no longer in business. We will not be visiting again. A friendly staff and pleasant outdoors eating area were definite highlights of this restaurant. They also have convenient if not limited parking. But there is also amble public parking across the street. The menu is excellent and varied. I had the eggplant parmigiana dinner. The batter was light and the sauce was flavorful. I went to Paradision with two old friends. They admired their meals, one shrimp fra diavolo, the other baked ziti. I had the lasagna. The lasagna was more like cheesy goo surrounded by a lazagna noodle that was as tough as leather. Lasagna is my favorite meal but it was so bad I couldn't finish it. We have enjoyed delicious meals and wonderful service here in the past, however tonight's service left a LOT to be desired. I waited at least 10 minutes for a waiter to show up at my table, then about another 10 minutes for water and coffee. Our salads arrived without silverware, and my dining partner's salad dressing on the side was removed before she was done with her salad, then the waiter took her knife before she was done with her dinner! Paradiso is one of my favorite restaurants in Westminster! Having been to Italy multiple times, I think Paradiso has some of the best, most authentic Italian I've had in the states. The Gorgonzola viniagrette is to die for, and I've never had a bad dish. My favorites are salmon rose, tortellini rose, and torenado paradiso. I love the bread! Everything is great! Very nice overall experience. I'd come here before, but it had been years and this unassuming yet moderately upscale eatery seems to get " forgotten about" by this " food traveler"-lol. It's tucked away in a rehabbed distillery building behind Main Street and stores like Coffey Music. A few friends from outside of the area wanted to meet me at RockSalt grille, but as I pulled into their empty lot on a Monday evening, I recalled that RS is closed on Mondays. So I called my buddies and gave them a detour to Paradiso. We opted for patio seating as it was a milder early fall evening. They had their heaters going and we asked for them to turn ours up, which they did. Server was lovely; it was apparent he cared about our experience. He explained all specials in detail, gave us hot tea refills ( not just the water, but new bags-thanks). We all got the crab cake specials with asparagus. I got mine with salad instead of the starch. The cakes were average. The size was good for the price--two medium sized cakes with sides for $24. Not quite lump meat, and a bit " fishier" tasting than I'm used to. But they weren't too bad. Sides were fresh. Bread was warm and fresh too. No pics this time; I didn't want to embarrass my friends by pulling out the phone and snapping shots of my plate. Great, laidback vibe out on the patio. Friendly staff. They allowed us to stay and chat to our hearts' content. The prices weren't more than some of the other moderately priced sit down dining locations. There are more romantic areas in the restaurant upstairs if you want that vibe. read more

Okay, so my husband and I haven't been here since it changed owners. I can't imagine this place staying in business for too long. I would think it would have been busy on a Sunday, but it wasn't.(Red flag) I was shocked when I tasted my meal (shrimp and scallops with linguine and tomatoes). How can you have an Italian restaurant that serves tomato sauce with no flavor? It had tomato chunks in a watery red liquid. Even after adding salt it didn't help. My husband's veal parmesan was tough, and the spaghetti was served plain with not enough sauce on top. Any chef knows that you don't serve pasta like that. It should be coated with sauce as soon as it is finished cooking so it absorbs the sauce. Google it. His sauce was terrible too. BTW, I know Italian cuisine . I cook most of my meals and have been to Italy several times. A store-bought jar of any sauce will be better than theirs. The food is nothing like it was when Sal owned the place. It was not worth the cost and more importantly, the tomato sauce stinks! How can you have such horrible red sauce and call yourself an Italian restaurant? Italian restaurant with Dining room room and bar on the small side. A bit crowded and will need a reservation. Service friendly and attentive, though appear very busy. Food came out hot and in a timely fashion. Complimentary bread fresh and warm. The pork rib was excellent. Melt in your mouth tender and delicious. Veal Marsala was also tender and very good. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. We do not live nearby, but in the four years that we have been going there while our daughter attended college, it has become a part of our tradition. I remember taking our daughter there for the first time after a game freshman year. I remember celebrating her 21st birthday there. I remember celebrating with friends and family after her senior game. Tonight we will visit again while celebrating her honor society induction. My family has often made fun of me over the years because I am obsessed with the food at Paradiso, but it is by far the best. Even after our daughter graduates in a few weeks, I will make the long drive because it is just that good.
