This review will be short and sweet. I worked at Dutch when I was a kid and it was my family's after church breakfast of choice for eons. The food and service are amazing and has been like that for years, that's why we keep going back. Everyone knows everyone's name and it is a home town favorite and our goto spot. I don't steer far from the Hungry Man with French Toast and its consistently good every time. I hope there is a day where my son goes here with his son as I did with my Dad. People seem to either love or hate this place. Very outdated decor even though they just shut down for a remodel. Food is hit or miss. I've had crab cakes, cream of crab soup and burgers which were good. Fried oysters had the taste of old fry oil and I couldn't finish them. One visit the they were short on wait staff so half the restaurant was closed. They explained that no one wants to work. I'm sure the tips are lousy due to the elderly clientele. Waitress made several racist comments about Asians. Have no idea why. There was no Asians there and we weren't wearing white sheets. Weird place I wouldn't recommend. read more

Highly recommend. I had never been here prior to the COVID19 shut down, but it was recommended for take out by a local weatherman, so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. The omelettes are the best I've had in the Hanover/Manchester area. Also, their COVID guidelines were very clear and direct and I felt safe getting take out here. Hand sanitizer around and antibacterial wipes to open the doors, etc. Very clean and the customer service is top notch. Considering the other reviews for Dutch Corner are from 2010 I thought I would share my recent trip there. My husband and I heard mixed reviews from a few people about the place but decided to give it try and form our own opinions. Now quite a few of our friends LOVE this place, but I have a feeling that it's for the same reasons people like places in Ocean City, tradition, the only thing around, etc. I will give a bit of back story on my husband and I, we were both servers at a breakfast restaurant growing up, his mother was a waitress at various establishments for over 35 years. We know the business and have great respect for those serving us. We also are very patient and forgiving in my most situations. Please keep this in mind when reading about our experience here. We walked into Dutch Corner around 11:10 am, we wouldn't leave until 11:35. Walking in there was three tables on the left side and a few folks sitting at the bar to our right. The tables to the left were finished eating, one was a family and the other two folks were by themselves. We decided to sit to our left at one of the tables, passing by a waitress on our way who was filling up jellies and sugar packets, I made eye contact and smiled but received no response. Sitting down we noticed that we had no creamers, sugars or menus, no big deal we could always just ask the waitress for more. Then began the waiting game. The waitress from earlier went around to all of the tables around us filling the sugars and jellies, she even asked one of the single tops if they needed more coffee. After sitting for five minutes she walks by us and asks if we have been helped. I respond with a nope, in a way that would express that I was a little peeved at the situation. She says she will go get the waitress and be back. Okay, she knew we had been waiting why wouldn't she ask for our drink order or at least apologize? When the other waitress comes by she gives no good morning just, "What do you want to drink?" My husband orders coffee and I a sweet tea, any server would have noticed we didn't have sugars or creamers. She did notice we didn't have menus as she was walking away and asked if we wanted them. At this point we have been in the restaurant for more than ten minutes. A three top walks in and sits down not far from us. A moment later the waitress drops off our drinks and leaves to go to the three top. She immediately gets their drink order and food order, leaves and comes back with their drinks. I try to make eye contact with her on her way back but she doesn't even glance at us. Here we sit, my husband with no way to make his cup of coffee and our menus placed on the table. For us this is the universal "we are ready to order" sign. We watch the waitress standing by the front and begin to show the obvious signs of a distressed diner. Finally we became so flustered with the whole thing we made the decision to leave. At 11:35 we stood up, left our drinks on the table and walked out without anyone batting an eye. I have honestly never been ignored in a restaurant before. If there had been underlying factors, being busy, short staffed, heck even if we had seated ourselves in a far off corner and no one saw us come in, I would have been okay with the whole thing. I posted about the situation on my Facebook and got messages from folks who said that I had gone at the wrong time or had the wrong waitress. First off it shouldn't matter at what time a customer goes into a establishment, service should always be at its' best or as close as it can be. The other messages I received were from friends who said they were disappointed with the food and service at Dutch Corner but had never mentioned it before. To put it into perspective, we went across the street to one of our favorite breakfast places, Spargo's. We walked in and were immediately greeted, there were eight other tables, we ordered our drinks got them within minutes, ordered and had our food in about ten minutes. So for the amount of time we just sat at Dutch Corner waiting, we had sat, ordered, fixed our coffees, and had hot food at Spargo's. Places don't always have great days and we wanted so badly to love Dutch Corner, but I don't think I can forgive being so blatantly ignored. Maybe we should have learned the secret to navigating Dutch Corner before we went. read more

My daughter and I had to pick up a quarter steer that we had processed at Maurer & Miller Meats in Manchester this morning, and a co-worker who grew up in Manchester recommended this place for breakfast. Dutch Corner has very good breakfasts in a homey, country style. They use meats from the local butcher shop, Maurer and Miller (M&M), and boy are they good. I had the Hungry Man breakfast with two huge buckwheat pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of M&M scrapple, two pieces of toast, and a pile of real potato home fries. I also indulged in a side of M&M bacon (4 pieces of real hickory-smoked, no water-added crispy goodness for around $2). I couldn't finish it all, though my daughter helped with the pancakes (she got the same thing but with French toast and no bacon). The quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable; the Hungry Man is less than $8. Local, friendly wait staff and a lot of local customers ordering their "usual." Flip over the laminated placemat menu -- there are choices on both sides. The lunch menu looked good too, with burger from M&M and buffalo, including buffalo liver and onions (never seen that before but must try) from Twin Springs farm in Lineboro. It is gratifying to find a place that cares about their food and sources locally. No credit cards accepted. Breakfast and lunch only. I'll be making the 45 minute drive out there more often. read more

OK, so I've been here several times, but this is my first review. Basically, the only real breakfast place in Manchester, so they have a corner (sorry, couldn't pass that up) on the market. Overall, a solid breakfast joint with plenty of options on the menu. The staff are all very friendly and say hello. They must have changed the coffee because it definitely tasted better this time compared to previous visits, and our waitress was always quick to top off our mugs. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and attentive, but not overly so. All of our orders came out just as expected. One unexpected surprise was the colorful and creative decorations on my grandson's pancake, personally delivered by another waitress that did the artwork. (Sorry, I didn't snap a picture of it.) Omelettes were good sized and full of goodness. Didn't realize until the bill came they charge extra for practically everything additional you ask for, including the onions in my hash browns. But no complaints really as the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very homey, and the waitresses knew many of the patrons by first name. Very comfortable place (more the atmosphere than the chairs.) Definitely will return when I'm in the area. read more

Dutch Corner is a fantastic place to eat! With smiling faces that greet and serve you and delicious options, this is a perfect spot for breakfast! My mother and I went this morning and we were very impressed. She got an omelet with home fries and rye toast. Her omelet was very "fluffy" and the portions were a great size. I got buckwheat pancakes with strawberries and whip cream on top (one of their specials) along with scrambled eggs. All were delicious! I recommend the buckwheat pancakes especially because they have really nice flavor. The service was also fast and hospitable. Make sure to stop in when you get a chance! read more

So they don't serve lunch here on Sundays ..... I guess everyone is at church during that time. Idk. The tables are stained and look dirty, they don't serve dessert. I don't understand how this place is called a dinner and they don't serve pie. The grits were nasty. Anyway the food was ok just make sure you ask for well done on your burgers cuz it looks like it's about to walk off your plate. If I get the runs I know why lol. I've been to Dutch Corner a few times and I sadly don't have many good things to say. The most recent trip, it took over twenty minutes for my husband and I to get breakfast. This was after sitting for ten minutes before we were greeted. Afterwards, he actually had to get up and find someone to get our check because the waitress never came back for us. She was very rude. The sausage gravy is probably the worst I've ever had and the scrapple is just not great. The only reason they're getting two stars is because the pancakes were decent and there is a sweet older woman who works there. read more

Solid breakfast spot in small town Manchester. The Dutch Corner always uses fresh and often local ingredients to make a satisfying filling breakfast at a good value. Service is always friendly and they give you a lot of food for little money. They have some lunch entrees but I always just get their breakfast because it is so good.
