This one has been on my Long Island brewery checklist for a longtime -- glad I finally got to check it out. The place is kinda small but the vibe makes up for it. The upstairs where the bar has bright colors, local artists art decorating the walls, and open space. A few tables and chairs and a wrap around bar. The service was good. The pourer was friendly and professional. Staying on top of if people needed another, or wanted to try something. Now on to why we're all here... The beer!! They have a smaller selection on tap, but have cans available. From Sours to Stouts IPAs to Porters they got you covered. They offer 2 sizes and flights which is really helpful to control your adult beverage intake. Keep in mind parking is pretty much nonexistent by the brewery, you'll need to park on Main or near Front St and walk over. It's only like a 5 min walk. read more

This is a great place to check out while visiting Greenport! The beers around the Fall are great ! My boyfriend and I got a beer and they came in plastic cups which was fine. There's an upstairs which is quiet and a downstairs which is quiet as well. We visited in the evening and it wasn't crowded at all. The whole place was set up nice, clean and friendly staff! Small and unassuming yet nice and quaint inside. It's a very chill vibe with large windows to view Main Street and a cozy seating area. Tried the glass of the Bed and Breakfast which I thought would be a dark porter but was actually more of an Amber Ale. It was delicious and surprisingly light. It is small and can get loud very quickly but if you're hanging out in the area, you should definitely stop by and have a tasty beer and check out some merchandise. Cute little taproom. You can sit at the bar, or just lounge around by the windows or barrels-turned-tables. There's also a tiny gift shop in the back. They do flights here as well! The way they do them is you get some tokens, each of which entitles you to a 4 oz pour (5 total). The bartender joked that it's the best deal because he often overpours. They had 8 taps available, and I tried a bunch of them. My favorite was the Tiki Paradise (berlinerweisse with pineapple, coconut, and lactose). The west coast style IPA (called Otherside) was also good. They also sell beer to go, and the selection for that is slightly different from what's on tap. They're also dog friendly! read more

Had their beers yesterday at the Maritime festival served from their cool old fire truck. Had the Pilsner which was light refreshing and perfect for the hot day. They had several beers on tap and some in cans too. Seems to be a very popular beer amongst the locals and local restaurants too. I visited the brewery when I was here a year ago and I liked it but the vibe was very low key. Think we caught it on a slow Fall day. It's above an old firehouse- that's why the old fire truck theme. Someone told me the brewery is also a good place for lunch but I didn't have any food while I was there. Greenport has really changed and it's a great place to visit for a day or a vacation. The Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. should be renamed the Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. Tasting Room. I don't think they make the actual beer at this small location but its a great place to buy a sampler or a pint. You walk upstairs to a small loft where you can sit and sample the various beers. The cool part is, I drink this brand of beer. They have seasonal flavors like Summer Ale, Pith n Peel, Harbor Ale (my favorite year round), Black Duck Porter and during the fall they offer Leaf Pile Pumpkin Ale. I like coming here on the weekend with friends, drink a pint or two upstairs and just kick back in peaceful Greenport. This past weekend we were with friends, the husband puts up with beer but likes to drink a good Scotch. Here's the great thing about Greenpoint Brewing, they have OUTRAGIOUS seasonal beers. I started with a Spring Turning Rye Saison beer. It's made with spicy Saison Yeast, Rye Malt, Pilsner and Vienna Malts, Saaz and Golding Hops. That's a lotta things happening but the end result? Man... That's a beer I could call baby girl. My scotch drinking buddy, I bought him a pint of Black Duck Porter which he was totally vibin' on the dark beer. This is by far my favorite Long Island brewery out of all of em. It's gotta be something in the water I'm thinking? A couple of outstanding brews, in my opinion, is their Leaf Pile and Summer Ales. Both blow my mind and taste buds away for sure. Summer Ale in particular is balanced so well that every single tasting note rings off like a perfectly tuned xylophone. Over the top description you're thinking? Get your hands around a cold point of it (if you can find it) and get back to me! Truly a hidden gem tucked hidden away on LI's North Fork and I hope it stays that way, although, on my last visit, they told me they are opening up another tasting room in Riverhead somewhere. I'm a craft beer guy, so when someone says "wanna drive out to greenport?" My eyes glaze over in the bubbly yellow hopped tint. My mouth gets dry and all I can think of is getting my hands on some black duck, or hopnami. I can tell you this is one of my favorite breweries on the island but I think I should pair that with saying they really are one of the best! They don't make a bad beer, the experiment with some things here and there and the beer is just outrageous. The guys are really just great, fun guys, so make it a point to go to their events and events they attend as you'll want to hang around sippin suds. If this location is too far hit the Peconic location you'll just miss out on the great town feel and the experience of drinking in the old firehouse next to the still standing jail (inoperable and by town rules still locked up and inaccessible) It's a great pit-stop I never miss when I'm in town. It's always a bit hot up there but they show some artists work here and there and have a super friendly and dare I say cute bar staff. Worth the visit for sure. read more

Go upstairs to the tasting room to have a glass of beer or enjoy a tasting! There aren't very many tables here, so you might have to stand for a bit and wait for a spot. There were only 2 bartenders when we went on a busyy day so there was some time in between our tastings. A flight is $12 for 5 half pours and I thought they were pretty generous! The only downside is you can only get one at a time. Sometimes I like to have all 5 in front of me so I can go back and forth and compare. Favorites were the Old Love (passion fruit lager) and the Delicate Senses IPA. The Black Duck porter tasted like coffee and chocolate, but wasn't my cup of tea. A great brewery located in a great town. The brewery is located right next door to the towns old jail, which is really cool, and if you get to rowdy they can lock you up. The brewery itself is nothing much, basically an attic, so get there early to get a seat. The beers are very good, though I was upset that the were not serving beer flights all labor day weekend. Also I wanted to buy a taster glass but the taster glasses and pint glasses are both 10 bucks, taster glasses are only ever 2 or 3 bucks max. I did not have a beer that I did not like, all great, bar tenders were nice as well. They also have half growlers which not too many breweries have but they are catching on. I would just come here to get growlers to go instead of drinking here. read more

Super disappointed, came here with a party of eight 2:30 on a Saturday 10/2 and we were turned away because we arrived in a Chauffeured van. This "policy" is not listed anywhere on their website. Apparently this business is an advocate for drinking and driving. We watched a party of 7 walk in right after us and get seated immediately. I'd suggest making this policy public or just put a sign up saying you don't welcome parties unless they're drinking and driving. Happy to bring our business to Whiskey Tavern. read more

Came into the restaurant portion of the brewery on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm for lunch after visiting a few nearby vineyards. We ordered the short rib sandwich, the cheesesteak, and the Rueben spring rolls. Each sandwich came with an order of fries. The sandwiches were absolutely enormous measuring around 16 inches each! They certainly do not skimp you :) this was definitely a bit too much to order for two people. We probably would have been better off with one sandwich and 1-2 apps. The spring rolls were absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with chopped pastrami in a thousand island dressing fried to perfection. Both sandwiches were delicious. The plain fries were below average, but I would be interested in trying their poutine dishes. We sat inside while eating, but there's a ton of outdoor areas to eat or play corn hole. Definitely a fun spot and a nice change from the nearby wine! read more

Greenport Harbor is definitely one of my favorite breweries in Long Island. Located in the heart of wine country, it is a great place to escape the grapes and enjoy some hops. They always have a huge variety of different beers on tap, so you are always able to try something new. The outdoor area is the highlight of the brewery. You can choose to sit at tables on the patio, or kick back on an Adirondack chair in the open field. With oversized jenga, Cornhole and Kan Jam, as well as anything you choose to bring, there are a lot of ways to enjoy the warm weather with friends. They recently opened up a restaurant within the brewery, which is a huge upgrade from the food truck they had previously. There are many good bar food options and a large seating area inside, but you are welcome to enjoy the food outside. Many factors make Greenport a go-to summer spot. Between the location, food, outdoor activities and overall vibe, I make the drive out east many times in the warm weather to enjoy all it has to offer. read more

Super cool brewing company is right off the Main Street in greenport, right next to a creepy & cool old county jail. We wanted to try this out before we did dinner and shopping... The space is open, but nothing special-- the real star of the show here is the beer selection. They weren't doing flights, but I got a life pile beer for $6. It was their version of a pumpkin beer & exactly what I was looking for: smooth, easy to drink and not too hoppy. It wasn't overly crowded and we were able to snag one of the few tables with chairs, so we were pretty happy. The place is also puppy friendly.. Which I appreciate! My friend and I went here, since I'd had the Inner Glow stout before and loved it. The brewery is set back a bit from Greenport's main thoroughfare, and the tasting room is on the second floor...which is less than obvious in the wintertime. But we found it, and I'm glad we did. We each had a beer, and I got a six-pack (to give as a gift for the upcoming birthday of a beer aficionado). My friend isn't a beer guy, so he wasn't impressed. But I like that particular stout, since there's something coffee-esque about it. Since this is the off-season, it was very quiet at the brewery. We kinda felt like cowboys going into an abandoned saloon. But the bartender was very nice, and happy to accommodate us. If you're in Greenport Harbor and you happen to like beer, there's no better place to stop than here (rhyme?). I've been drinking Greenport beer (mostly Black Duck Porter and Summer Ale) before they bottled their lovely stuff, and now it's great that you can head down to your local beer distributor and pick up a lot of these brews. Though, what's better than drinking beer straight from the source? I'll answer that question: not much! This early evening I stopped in quickly to finally check out the original Greenport location (I had previously been to the newer, larger Peconic spot which was incredible). The front of the brewery resembles that of an old firehouse (because that's actually what the building is), giving it some nostalgic character, and upon entry you'll head up a flight of stairs to a quaint, laid back tasting room. There are several spots to sit as well as a decent-sized bar to stand at while you sip your beers of choosing. Having had several Greenport beers (and loving them), I shied away from the classics they had on tap (Black Duck, Otherside IPA, Harbor Ale, and Summer Ale) and went with the special OG (Original Greenport) beers they're currently rocking as homage to the original offerings at Greenport when they first opened. This included the OG Berry, OG Dry Hop, Rye Guy, and Fork & Beans. The berry was layered with hints of fruit and finished with a sweet aftertaste. Fork & Beans was robust and filled with coffee flavor. Dry Hop and Rye Guy tasted slightly different, but both offered a wonderful punch of bitterness through their hoppy build. It was a nice rundown of new (or old?) Greenport beers and a fun (albeit quick) trip to this wondrous brewery. Before leaving, I grabbed a magnet as their logo might be my favorite of breweries on the isle. Overall, I know that Greenport Harbor is filled with a lot of things to do, but I will always carve out time to come to this staple of a brewery on Long Island and sip some superior suds. read more

So this location is pretty chill for sure, it's not their main brewing location however- just a tasting room. It's set behind the town of greenport and is right next to the old village jail. When you enter you have to go straight up and it's on the second floor so you look over the town a little bit. My boyfriend and I bought got a flight and the perk to that was if/when you finish you get to keep the tasting glass you used! Even though their tasting room is small they still have enough room to add some more tables. It's mostly just stools scattered around. I really liked this little spot but I REALLY wish they would make it 21 and over. It was extremely unpleasant trying to hang out and drink while small children were literally running around my legs. read more

A very cool brewery with a laid-back vibe. We stopped here for a beer before dinner reservations on a bachelorette weekend. The tasting room upstairs was fairy quiet so we were the major group there, and it felt like a personal tour and tasting. Brandon (I think) was the bartender, and he was incredibly personable and helpful in selecting a beer. We could have stayed at this cool spot all night enjoying the atmosphere and elevated views. I've been obsessed with leaf pile as long as I can remember. It is the absolute perfect pumpkin beer so we knew we had to make a stop out here. To my surprise, they had it in the fridge even though it's completely out of season!!! What a delight! My husband and I both did a tasting and fully enjoyed all the beers that we had. The space was nicely decorated and open and had plenty of seating. The tables themselves were actually really cool as well, being built from wood slabs and old kegs. Great spot to hang with the family on the weekend. Tons of families with little kids running around in the open grass area. There's a huge janga game to play along with corn hole. First come first serve. Super fun! They have a whole bunch of beers to choose from and you can even take beer home. The have the beer flight, so you can sample several beers. The food was pretty decent, a little pricey. Really great chill atmosphere, we spent several hours here. There was also live music outside... dogs allowed, too! Although, be prepared to sit in some traffic to get there on the one single road. When it's a nice day, I would definitely recommend this sport. read more

I love that Long Island is home to so many great craft breweries. Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. is one of them, and while I've enjoyed their beers frequently at bars, beer events, caskfests, etc. I only recently (and finally) got to check out the brewery & tasting room. $5 for a tasting glass, or $6 for a pint glass will get you 5 oz. pours of the 7-8 brews they have on tap that day. They have a good variation of both seasonal and permanent beers ranging from ales & IPAs to porters. When you're done you get to keep the glass! Yay for souvenirs! The tasting room is upstairs and kinda small, but it's super chill since it resembles someone's house. Large windows let lots of sunshine into the room, and it's a constant reminder of just how awesome daydrinking is. They also have seats made from old kegs, which I thought was a cute touch. Bartenders are friendly, laidback, and very knowledgable-- they'll even "sample" the beers with you! Free mini pretzels at the bar are available and much appreciated if you start feeling boozey or peckish. Check out their beer if you ever find it on tap, but if you're ever THIS far out east on Long Island, you owe it to yourself to visit the tasting room. This is a must stop whenever I'm in Greenport so... I stopped! What made this trip a little more interesting was my best friend had her baby! There isn't an elevator (at least, not right when you walk in) and we had him in his stroller (he's 9 months) so- not to be deterred- we carried him and his stroller up those stairs to that tasting room! With the windows open, it was pretty comfortable temperature wise even though it was a really hot day! Because we didn't have much time, rather than do a full tasting we ordered a beer each - the Hill Head Blonde. This was outstanding! So good in fact, that we each bought a six pack to bring home! Loved it! Could have sat around in this converted fire house for hours throwing back their beer. It was lively for a Friday afternoon. People were coming and going tasting great brews. It's located off Main Street directly behind the Capital One Bank next to the old jail. The tasting room is upstairs. They had 5 beers on tap and you enjoy a tasting for only $8 which includes the Greenport Harbor pint glass to take home. What a steal. The glass alone is worth that. We tried quarter pint servings of Harbor Ale, Black Duck Porter, Citrus IPA, # 2 and Summer Ale. It's hard to say which one was my favorite because I seriously enjoyed each one equally. Greenport is quickly becoming my favorite brewery. Free pretzels, music from a local radio station and ridiculously expensive artwork make up the atmosphere. They have some wooden chairs and kegs that are turned into furniture by placing seat cushions on top for seating. Cool idea. You feel like you are hanging out in someone's house. Also a section selling t-shirts and hats with their brand if interested. So we were on our way to Greenport and mistakenly thought they had food based on the Peconic location Yelp listing but were sad to find out they didn't when we got there. Oh well!. We figured beer would soothe our hunger for awhile so we shared a flight. This is the first brewery I've been to where they didn't serve the flight all at once. The bartender served us one at a time. Was a little odd! But the beers were good and the place was pretty much empty so it wasn't like we had any wait time. Also weird, they had some random benches in the middle of the room but no tables and no stools at the bar. Almost like they don't want you to sit and stay? Maybe because it's a seasonal town it gets nuts during the warm months so they want to deter people from taking up space all day. Upon walking in I was impressed just with the look of this old firehouse. I loved the old building and that it had been beautifully restored. Walking up the steps I saw it said "Stairway to Heaven" on one of the risers- I always love a fun sense of humor. Then walking into the tasting room I was impressed with the overall decor, layout and ambiance. It brought a sense of happiness to me right away. Then I put my lips to the beer and was blown away by the complexity of some of the flavors. Harbor Ale- Very drinkable pale ale, not too bitter. Black Duck Porter- A dark beer lovers delight, with pronounced notes of espresso. Too bitter for my liking. Nut Brown Ale- Dark beer, but more drinkable than the porter. Antifreeze- My favorite by far, bold and complex with almost a bourbon flavor going on. Triton- Very bold, you can definitely get the barleywine flavor. But I thought there was a bit of an after taste. Otherside IPA- Easily drinkable and crisp. Light, but not too simple. There were some fruit notes present. Spring Turning Rye Saison- Very interesting beer, really taste the spices- HELLO clove! Love the complexity of this one. Black IPA- Usually not a dark beer fan, but this was sooooo smooth and not at all bitter. Tasted some notes of caramel. Overall- Very impressed with the selection and the complexity of flavors present in all their beers. Also LOVE for $8 you get to try all 8 beers and take home a Greenport Pint glass! read more
