I can't tell you how much I think about this salad!!! They have different salad options to choose from or the option to customize your own. The ingredients are all super fresh and the dressings are 10/10. My personal favorite is the lemon vinaigrette, but the green goddess is ! The portions are also a major pro! Just a half salad will usually last me two days! They toss the salads right in front of you and are super accommodating of any changes or additions. I love Greens & Grains when I don't feel like cooking and want to eat healthy. They have several salads that I love to eat in rotation. Their steak and blue cheese salad is to die for! It comes with Tri-tip, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, red onion and radishes and creamy blue cheese dressing. So darn good! Don't be afraid to ask for extra dressing on the side to go. They will definitely accommodate. Their Asian chicken salad is also very yummy as well as their chicken and Cesar kale salads. Their soups are very good as well. They usually have two different options every day, one more on the healthier side and the other more hardy and full of flavor. They also offer prepackaged sandwiches and the chicken salad and tuna salad are solid choices. But lately, I must say their soup game has been off. As of late the soups are a little less healthy. I tried the lasagna soup and it was full of cream and pasta and not in a good way. This great to-go eatery is located inside Alameda Natural Grocery. They don't have a dedicated seating area but there are a few small tables inside near the grocery side of the Market Hall. They can be a bit pricey mostly because use all organic food ingredients. Still consistently great after all these years. Haven't been by as much since cooking much more at home. But I was traveling locally for work - checked the options nearby the Airbnb and then decided I should just get something healthy, simple and pop in the fridge. G&G popped in mind. And now they offer online ordering! How convenient! Just tell them your name. Yes that easy! There was a slight mishap but the owner was around and more than made up for it without my prompting. So impressive. Organic, real food and so filling! The full salad was HUGE and the green goddess dressing just as delectable as I remembered. Every bite of salad had a grain, seed, veggie varietal and a bit of feta in each bite. Their ratios are JUST enough that you get that zip of flavor and texture. I can never replicate their secret formula at home. Rotisserie continues to be one of the best - juicy and seasoned but not salty. What a gem we have on the island - prob one of a handful of food establishments here that don't give me the dreaded phlegm after I eat. This is going to be the Saturday I catch up on reviews, and after trying Greens & Grains today it only makes sense to write what I've tried most recently. It was a day full of errands for me today and near the end of them I ended up in Alameda. It l's been one of those days where I stayed hydrated but hunger hit me like a brick in the stomach around 3pm. I wanted a salad and yelped some salad places nearby. Greens & Grains popped up with plenty of reviews about the kale Caesar salad soo I figured why not. It's about a 7 minute drive from Alameda Landing and it's located inside Alameda Marketplace. I lucked up with parking on the street right by the entrance. I ordered the kale Caesar salad, chicken salad sandwich, and macaroni and cheese. The Mac and cheese was a 1 on a scale of 1-5. Those onions ruined it for me. I'm not used to that. The kale Caesar salad was a 4 for me. I opted to add the anchovies but I'll pass next time. They're just too fishy for me, and I call myself a seafood lover. I also should have asked for them to keep the croutons out of it. The thing is, I hate croutons, but these were manageable because they softened. Croutons add too much crunch to salads in my opinion, buuut overall it was just too many in there for me. So that's my bad. I got the last chicken salad sandwich and it was pretty good. I can tell it's popular based on it being the last one, and i like the leafy greens inside of it. Overall I'd give Greens & Grains a 3.5, but I am interested in trying their vegan curry. Also, the service was pleasant. read more

Food was fine until I found rocks in it.. :( I ordered a G&G House salad, which was great. But a few bites in, my teeth started crunching against something. I figured maybe it's salt or extra hard lentils? So I spat out that mouthful and kept eating. Then halfway through, I ran into these two bits of rocks, and I was kind of mildly horrified. However, it has been some years since I hoisted a brown paper bag off their counter due to my work from home situation. Well last week a colleague of mines wanted to meet and we agreed on a working lunch. Since we were going to be working through lunch I decided to preorder the day before. I stopped by for lunch here with my boss, he's been here before and since he's been trying to eat healthy and so have I we decided to try this place for a great salad! Green and Grains is definitely a Hidden Gem in Alameda inside of Alameda Marketplace. There's a lot of different vendors inside, will you have a large selection of all kinds of foods. My boss and I both got the G&G salad which is a beet salad. When I tell you the salads are great believe me they're fresh handmade excellent portion you can't go wrong. The ambience here is pretty nice, there's people coming and going since it is a Marketplace a lot of people stop in for a lot of different things food groceries. The customer service that we got at Green and Grains was five out of five. All of the staff was more than willing to help with a smile nonetheless. They know their product really well you ask a question they have an answer. I will definitely be stopping by more often to try other salads. They sell rotisserie chicken that they do in house themselves which is very flavorful. If you're in Alameda and I'm craving something healthy definitely check this place out. Moe Approved! read more

When I was on a search for a healthy and hearty salad and sandwich, I remembered Greens & Grains in the Alameda Marketplace and placed an order online for pick-up. I am SO happy that I did, because the food exceeded my expectations. The G&G House Salad - Full Size was HUGE and could feed an entire family. The mixed greens, beets, lentils, green beans, pumpkin seeds, along with my added chicken and avocado was super refreshing and reminded me of the many salads we used to get on the daily in SF. The dressing paired perfectly with the ingredients and my taste buds loved it. I also ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich, which came with tarragon aioli on multigrain ciabatta. This was seasoned really well and was a nice spin on your traditional sandwich. Just a note that the sandwiches were premade, so you aren't able to customize them. They also have prepared salads, rotisserie chicken, daily hot food specials, and soups that I'm looking forward to trying. Portions for the salad and salad were generous, so I had leftovers. Customer service was friendly and quick. There's usually a few people in line each time I've gone, so order ahead if you're in a hurry. Went here for a quick bite with a coworker. I got the chicken salad sandwich and she got the Greek salad. Both were very good and fresh!

I'm very disappointed to find out their salad dressings are made with a vegetable blend oil. I asked what the vegetable was and he said probably rice bran. If a blend, it could be canola for all I know. He wasn't clear. I was hoping so much that he would say it was olive oil based I've gotten salads there regularly, but I will no longer be getting the salad dressings if they are using subpar oils. Dr. Chris Knobbe shares extensive information about how the seed Oils cause macular degeneration as well as other chronic health problems. You can find his Toks on YouTube I went over to the market area to see if I could find any oils without canola oil. They have one called Prima Kitchen Racnch avocado oil. I also got some feta and parmesian to grate into my salad. I've noticed my vision getting steadily blurrier. Hoping this elimination of this regular dose of vegetable oil blend will help. read more

On my last visit, the service was exceptional. PRO-TIP: Be sure to ask for chicken to be added to your salad. They slow-rotisserie cook the chicken in house throughout the day. Given the 72 degree day (in January), salad sounded appetizing. I had never been the G&G nor the marketplace, so I was ready for some social distance-related anxiety. Going into the market was pretty easy. There was someone outside who sprayed sanitizer on my hands. When I walked in, I was greeted with a line and thought it was to get into the store, but it was for the bakery (whew!). I walked passed, spotted the G&G sign, and ended up in front of G&G. I scanned the menu and decided on a half order of the Kale Caesar (per the recommendation of fellow Yelpers). The staff person who helped me was very friendly and confirmed if I wanted everything and anchovies (yes, please!). I also asked for about half of the dressing--I know, *eye roll*. They also asked if I wanted the dressing on the side vs. mixed. I requested mixed. They packed up the salad and I paid. NOTE: there isn't a way to pay for tip via credit card, so make sure to bring cash for tip. The tip jar was a plastic container to the left of the register. I arrived home about 10 minutes later and chowed down. I appreciated the ample amount of Parmesan, dressing, and anchovies. I usually get tired of chewing kale, but it's cut well so it wasn't a chore. The croutons were perfectly crunchy. I chose to eat the anchovies strategically and I was able to make them last for the entire salad. We were craving greens to end the weekend and we had never been to this spot before. It was in The Market and they were following all the Covid regulations - masks and hand sanitizer.
