As neighborhood hardware stores go, this place is the genuine article. They have a wide range of fasteners (sold by the piece, not in poly-bags!), plumbing and electrical items appropriate to the kinds of houses found in the neighborhood, lawn and garden supplies, cleaning supplies, paint and -- most of all -- a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. (Ooops, I almost forgot to mention a handsome and somewhat aloof Maine coon cat named "Hershey" who protects the lawn and bird seed from mice and provides the store with senior management.) I've been involved in construction and renovation work for many years, and this kind of hardware store is getting difficult to find. ( I was working with a carpenter installing a huge Andersen bay window which is supported by internal wire cables. Atlas True Value had large turnbuckles, 10" through bolts and wire rope clamps all in stock. ) As might be expected, they're a little bit more expensive than the big-box Lowes and Home Depot, but I frequently find they're more economical because I can get first-quality items in the quantity I need and I don't have to spend the time and gas money to go miles when I need something. My only complaint is that they shorten their business hours during the summer months and close a little earlier on Sundays.

A star off because one of the store managers took my paint chip, analyzed in with the color match tool, but then added more pigment to the can and showed me on the tiny swatch that "it matched better"... I went home, put it on the wall and .. it didn't (it was too dark, no extra pigment should have been added). I was back the following day, in line again, buying more paint.

I've been in a few times for miscellaneous household projects, and the owner/manager/tall white haired guy that's always there, can always sense when you're looking for something or are in a conundrum. He comes right over and offers his help and direction. And he is so knowledgeable and helpful! I don't know what his name is yet, but he is a genuine soul, and I love that. They are a paint and blind store, mostly. But they do sell the other odds and ends you'd expect at a small, local hardware store. Some tools and random things you need to get jobs done around the house. Paint, wallpaper, blinds, and painting supplies abound. My favorite thing about Wallpaper City so far (aside from Grandpa) is that they handwrite and add up their receipts! I can't believe it. I haven't seen that in, well, maybe never. It strikes me as the cutest thing ever! Although, in this age, it isn't paper-friendly. Ahh! I was politely directed to the rear of the store where two employees assisted me immediately, listening attentively to my need for two boards and my uncertainty about color and type. I had my contractor's invoice from 2020 which turned out to be for the pressure treated wood for the new deck built then. LP and Izzy together were able to go to my contractor's page, find the specs about the TimberTech used, and refresh my memory about the color. They gave me a sample board and a TimberTech Source Book, encouraging me to call the company about the strange bleached-out stain on my deck. They also quoted me the cost of two replacement boards for my handyman to purchase for the repair. Problem solved. LP and Izzy were friendly, personable and eager to be of help... and at the end of a long Saturday. So, please add this review to counter some of the really negative ones I read on this website.
