I'm an Insurance Adjuster and I was sort of in a pinch for time given the impeding hurricane. I needed a modification but all of my welding tools were at home in Houston. I found Greg's Custom Cycle Works after doing a google search for welding. After trying 4 other people that clearly didn't answer out of state numbers, I spoke to one of Greg's employees. He told me to come down to the shop and that Greg would be able to look at it and possible get the job done today. Without hesitating, I drive 47 miles to his shop. While driving to the shop I was preparing myself for another person telling me how busy they are and that they can't get to it for weeks. I show up and see all of these amazing posters on the walls. I realize that I didn't just find a random dude with a welder, this guy is an artist. Anyways, I meet Greg and he comes out to see my issue and what the job entails. He explains to me that he doesn't have this size of metal in stock but it's down the road. As anyone would do in my position... I explained to Greg that I would gladly go pick up the metal and bring it back. Greg agrees and tells me that he can get it done today. ‍‍‍‍. First off, who stops what they are doing to help someone same day? Secondly, he could've easily taken advantage of a situation, he didn't. He charged me a price that was much lower than expected. Greg and his boys killed it! I plan on going back and getting some more work done and can't wait to see what they will do with a larger project. Avoid these clowns, came in for a simple repair that could've been done cheaper, left paying one band. Didn't even do the repair properly, had to take it in to claim the warranty. Parts of the bike were zip tied together, even though I gave them the screws and bolts that came with the bike, they charged me for a new set anyway. If you want the job done properly, take it anywhere else. Twice the hassle, double the price. read more

Took my gas tank in to be repaired was leaking at the rear mount. They told me that welding would be the best option, but would not be Didn't think it would be a problem. that they were leave water inside my gas tank so when I picked it the whole and they dropped my gas tank and put a huge dent in it and then told me that there's no way that they could've done that I do not recommend anybody doing business with this guy or this company. He's rude on the phone and did absolutely nothing to fix the problem. Didn't offer to lessen my bill or anything told me he could paint it black when my bike is red and original 30-year-old paint. A friend spent $3,000 at Greg's Cycles on a 1995 Suzuki Intruder (a project to help his son), the son move out of state and I was asked to get the bike running and sell it. Among lots of work, Greg's listed on invoices, carbs removed, rebuilt, re-installed, labor including installing new fuel lines. There also was a line item for fuel line, $8. The bike wouldn't start. I checked, no fuel getting to the carbs. I pulled the fuel lines to the carbs, fuel pump dumped tons of rubber gunk into my tupperware (see photo). Fuel lines were not replaced, 28 year old fuel line. Rubber gunk clogging carburetor entry, now needing carbs pulled and cleaned. Sold the bike as a not running project, rather than re-do that work. I wrote Greg personally, asked him to at least refund a small labor portion to the customer. He lied to me and said the invoice for gas line replacement (along with carb rebuilding, of course they should be replaced at 28 years old) and the line item charging for the fuel line, "was a typo". He wouldn't budge, and wouldn't apologize, that is the size up of integrity, with Greg, Greg's Cycles. read more

Greg's Custom Cycle Works had taken care of my bikes since 2003. They serviced and repaired them, and they customized them too. Over the years, I brought them a MuZ Baghira (German supermotard), a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe, a Honda Goldwing, and a second Yamaha RSTD. Apart from the service on these bikes, the shop did a couple of beautiful paint jobs on the Baghira and the Yam RSTD. They worked on the motor of my first RSTD (injection and ignition), fixed a really bad ding in the tank and repaired the right-side cowler of the second RSTD. All in record time, with top-notch quality workmanship, for a price that was really affordable. Highly recommended. read more

I brought in a new Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled with a special exhaust from Italy that needed a new bracket fabricated keeping the visible welds maintaining the high end Italian welds. Greg and his artisans did an amazing job! I also had them pipe wrap the exhaust to cut down the heat, and the wrap looked perfect! Not only was a job well done, but it was a quick turnaround and he even kept the shop opened late for me to pickup. Thanks for the great service and quality. read more

BIG MISTAKE!! Warning to reconsider taking a motorcycle to this unprofessional shop. I ended up paying Greg's Custom Cycle Works in Clearwater thousands of dollars to supposedly rebuild the top end of the motor to my 2002 Indian Chief. They kept my motorcycle in and out of the shop for several months but failed at repairs. Parts of it were even damaged while in their possession. The owner Greg kept dodging my calls and finally months later , has refused to do the right thing and refund any money. Geico needs to investigate and hopefully remove them from being an official pro repair shop. I now have photos and documentation from a reputable motorcycle mechanic on the East coast to confirm their fraudulent work. I normally don't write reviews but really hope this helps someone to not get ripped off. read more

pd him over a thousand dollars to mount 2 wheels on my rigid chop. he told me a week, then encountered several problems, or so he says. he had my bike almost a month. when I got the bike back the spacing on the front wheel was incorrect. it's 3/8" of center and the rockers are towed in causing the active fork to wear out faster. I took it back a second time for him to fix it and he had my bike 4 days, didn't touch the incorrect spacing but replaced the bearings and charged me another 200 to put Chinese bearings in. when I confronted him about the incorrect spacing he told me the active fork was bent. but I'm not sure what that has to do with mounting a wheel in the center of a front end, with proper geometry. stay away from this business, no pride or integrity here. read more

I am disappointed that I was not afforded the option of less than one star, when you are told by the owner, Greg, that the work was performed and you get home to find that it was not completed and compounding the problem they kept the part I supplied for them until I asked that it be returned. They did not refund and the BBB in my behalf requested of them to do so but they are not members so in effect they stole my money read more

I'm so beyond angry and disappointed with this shop! Sadly, I cant give zero stars. I took 2 gas tanks in to be acid washed and after having the tanks way longer than they told us, they look no different than when I took them in. $180 wasted. It's so sad that a business in this economy would choose to rip off hard-working people! Maybe because they weren't Harley tanks? Maybe because they dont take pride in their work? I will not be giving them any more business nor recommending them to any of my bike owner friends. Unfortunately, I also took my neighbor's Honda Shadow in at the same time to have carbs cleaned & some other repairs for an estimated $400 and a week. It's been 3 weeks and they keep adding other repairs the bike "needed" and the "estimate" is now up to $1100 and still not done. WTH? Again, not a Harley. This shop was recommended to me. I will not be doing the same. Shame on you Greg for allowing shoddy work to leave your shop and ripping off the little guy! I'm out $180 and we still cant ride our bikes. Unless you have a high dollar bike that Greg himself built, don't waste your time. They make rookie mistakes and over charge on everything. Ripped me off for $350 and had my bike in the shop over a month. When I picked it up and was at the gas station just down the road to fill up I noticed that the gas was pouring out of the bottom where they didn't put a house clamp on my fuel line, had to push it back where the gave ME attitude over it. They broke the plastics around my seat area and left the vin tag hanging. They also didn't fix my rear brakes and could have cared less about replacing my micro switch that worked my rear brake light. Yes this was about a year ago and I'm still pissed about it. No respect for their lower dollar customer. read more

Visiting for a week, wanted to rent a bike, spoke to Harley guys in Tampa, but in the end didn't wanna waste time driving in a car on a gorgeous day to go rent a bike there. Gregs did not have brand new bikes like a Harley dealer, but who cares; rented a fat boy with miles and character, bike did what it was suppose to do, we had a lot of fun, staff at Greg's was very accommodating. My husband got hit while riding his bike. The insurance company sent the check directly to Greg's. Three weeks later and we still don't have the bike back. Apparently once they get paid they don't care how long it takes to get your vehicle back to you. They'll get to it when they feel it's convenient to them. read more

DETOUR! DETOUR! ......If you don't want to be get ripped off, then detour this shop. Took my 150SSr Rowdy to do an upgrade to 180cc. They over charged me $1475, and kept the bike for almost two months. The same day I picked it up, it broke down on me on Sand Key beach. Called, and he came picked it up, and kept it for another three weeks. Picked it up and the horn that was supposed to be replaced quit working, and two months after it broke down again in Dunedin. After all that money, it still doesn't have the speed. Nothing changed. They said they put a 180cc kit. When I took the bike to them, I was already getting 60mph. My kick start doesn't work anymore. The bike sits now, and doesn't run. Greg promised a month ago to pick it up but never did, but when I called to remind them, they said they were overbooked. I figured they don't want to bother. I bought this bike brand new, and now it runs horrible. Clinging noise from the motor. I went to Greg's because I thought that as young person, and a small owner, I would give him the business, and he would honest. Iam not a judge, but actions from them, and what I paid out my pocket with no satisfaction is enough. I just don't think he's has qualified mechanics. Maybe for painting, or other cosmetic work, that's their speciality, but when it to mechanical detour this shop. read more

I am looking to build a custom pro street bike. I called this company 3 time within a 1 month period. The fourth time I finally got someone and explained to them what I wanted built. The person asked me for my name and number and told me Greg would get back with me. Another month had passed with no reply from the company. I guess they are to busy and do not need any more customers. No problem, I will gladly spend my $75,000 at another bike shop. read more
