When it comes to motorcycles, we all value ours more than anyone else working on them and I understand they are a business of moving machines in and out the door. They really are a stellar group of people and very kind but seem to cut some corners and tell you what you want to hear. I've been working on a cafe project for a couple years on and off with a 1973 Honda CB350F. I asked them to correct the airflow with the carbs, clean the carbs, as well as connect the antigravity battery (which I bought and provided). In addition, all I asked was they cleaned up the electrical components so it "looks nice". I understand paying for a complex 4-carb cleaning and adjusting but paying for zip ties is not my definition of professional. I was willing to pay whatever it took to get this bike cleaned up and road worthy so I could do some final cosmetic touches and finish the project. They seemed to lack the desire to really want to take it to the next level. They do not do fabrication work so do not expect them to build custom solutions. They will ask l if you can provide them parts you find online and they will see if it works. When I picked up the bike, they didn't care to talk about what they did, what they didn't/couldn't do, or justify the total cost. They just sent me on my merry way. So I let the bike sit for too long! I had some issues with leaking fuel and needed a tuneup as well. I went to fellow Yelpers and found St. Pete Motorbikes. When I road over I was not sure what side of the road it was on and if you are not sure you can miss it as it is an unassuming building right on the corner of 49th St and 46th Ave. Also note that 49th is a crazy busy road in a car much less a bike and this particular intersection seemed to be even crazier so be careful. Once inside I spoke with Marc and told him the bike info. We proceeded to step out back where I parked to confirm the problem. It was a Friday so I expected to leave it and he told be he would call the following week when it was ready. I was really surprised when he called the following Tuesday and had it ready! I made my way back over. After explaining what happened and confirming all was good we settled up and I was back on the road again !! The price was reasonable considering what was done included oil change. Going to be my new go to spot for the bike. read more

I have a Yamaha Vstar 650 I've owned for 5 years. After Mark worked on it the bike has never run this good. Last year I took the bike into the big area Yamaha dealership and the repair bill was over $1,000 and it didn't run well. I was told it would never run right because of aftermarket exhaust. After sitting for several months (I had burned the gas out of carbs) the bike back fired and hard to start. Mark completed repairs at a very reasonable cost. Bike now starts immediately and for the very first time without choke, runs perfect. The best part is Mark explained that I would have the same issue next year if I let the bike sit again. Burning the gas out of carbs still leaves a small amount that will gel and foul the carbs. He took the time to show me the simple secret. Two screws you back out and drain the carbs completely dry before storing. Genius! read more

I probably let my Arctic Cat ATV sit too long and the carb got all gummed up! It had to be the gas that the previous owner used cause I'm very particular about non ethanol and gas treatments to keep it as fresh as I can. I'm limited as to what I can do, because of an injury. So my old school mechanic dad tried to work on it and while he did and meant well, he still couldn't get it right. I dropped the ATV off with Marc and he called me to a advise what was fixed and what parts are needed. I ordered the parts and paid extra to get them here quick cause Marc said it takes a long time to get the parts if he orders them. I didn't want my ATV taking up space in his shop so he could get more jobs done. I got the parts the same week and got them to Marc. They had the ATV already running like it should but some other parts were needed and should be done before putting it back together. The carburetor was only missing a small part which he had on hand. I talked to Joseph and he told me what was wrong in depth when I picked it up. Anyways, enough of the rambling but wanted you to know what my situation was at the time. The ATV has never ran better. I will always choose the mom n pop shop that is reputable and does good work over the BIG GUY! To Marc and your team! Thank you again for taking care of my ATV! Marc later told me that this was the first Arctic Cat they have ever worked on, so what does that say about them for getting this beast running and getting it right! You're better off taking your bike to a place like Barney's or County Cycles in Pinellas Park. We took our Honda Shadow 1100 to St. Pete Motorbikes a couple of times. They all seemed nice enough. We can't prove anything, but every time we got our motorcycle back, something else was wrong with it. We've never had that happen with our motorcycle before at any other repair shop. We suspect they may have been helping themselves to future repair visits, but again, we can't prove it. They will never touch our "precious" ever again. read more

I echo just about everything Lisa K. said. Keep your motorcycle out of the hands of these hacks. I had done extensive testing on my Goldwing's fuel system., and determined the vacuum cutoff to be defective. (It was just quitting every few days) I gave all this information to Mark (in writing) but he seems to have ignored it. After TWO WEEKS they charged me more than $600. They said they replaced a generator pulse module. The bike squealed something awful now, and quit working again after a day and a half. I took it back. This time they kept it for 2 AND A HALF MONTHS..... giving me excuses that they were waiting for parts. IT COST ME $218 TO GET THE BIKE OUT OF HOCK THIS TIME, (When this second visit should have been already covered) AND THOUGH IT NOW RAN OK, THE SQUEAL STILL SCREAMED OUT OF THE ENGINE. I now have $823 in a simple $20 part replacement... AND a squealing bike. And I know, full well, never to allow those people to ever touch a motorcycle of mine read more

I'm not really sure what the last reviewer is talking about since I've had the exact opposite experience. I've been there several times over the past couple years with three different bikes: a yamaha virago that I traded in for a suzuki boulavard and my husband's yamaha v-star. Everytime the staff has been cuteous, helpful, the repair's done exactly as asked, and no unexpected repairs crop up afterwards - they aren't that kind of shop. They are, however, the rare sort of shop that will let you go back and talk to your mechanic, and the mechanic will show you exactly what's wrong with your bike and why it's a problem - they'll even let you watch if you want to they've even shown me how to fix a few things on my own. I've even taken my bikes in just to have them inspected for potential future problems (which they do free of charge) and always get a clean bill of health for my bikes. Which might have me worried that they aren't checking enough except that 1) problems never crop up and 2) I've been there when other customers come in for the same service and get told there is something wrong and are shown (with messed up part in hand) what's wrong with their bike. In total they're way better than places like Barney's or the Harley store where they charge three times as much and never let you talk to the folks working on your bike or Gulfport where they give you a better than thou attitude everytime you walk in. St. Pete Motorbikes is great and I'll certainly be bake again. read more

If you are looking for a shop that shows you respect and understands your needs, this is the shop for you....I took my Suzuki VS 800 into St Pete Motorbikes because I had carb problems. I took a chance with this shop because of a previous purchase a made a year ago.Marc felt very honest then.I am too old to have personality conflicts with business owners so customer relations is very important to me....I am not paying for a bad time anymore!! .I am 66 years old and have been screwed many times in my life by bad businessmen...I have done a lot of work with boats and cars in my life.The joy of owning nice toys takes a beating because of unscrupulous businesses. The bike sat for all Winter and Spring while it had fuel in it ....(I had health issues and could not attend to my bikes needs)We all know what happens when we leave gas in tank and carbs without running it....So instead of paying for just a double carb rebuild(Suzuki vs 800 is difficult and expensive because of carb location) I decided to upgrade carbs with performance jets ,exhaust and air filters(K and N). Marc worked with me on parts and was very fair....I picked up the bike yesterday and it runs and sounds great!!Joseph is the lead mechanic and I think he is VERY GOOD and very careful.Not a scratch or dent put on my bike by him... A year ago I purchased a very expensive high tech battery from Marc(three times the amps of a wet battery).The battery got ruined when the bike sat after running the battery to dead trying to start it last winter(choke was not working)...Marc replaced it under warranty and did not charge me for labor to replace the battery....(I ruined the battery and was honest about it.The battery case is in the belly of the bike, not under the seat like most bikes.....It is an easy hour labor to get the battery out and put a new one in it.....NO CHARGE!!!!..I have read the negative reviews placed on this site and can only say I believe this business is honest and very fair.....I would recommend St Pete Motorbikes to anybody....I will be back for all my motorcycle needs..Thanks again Marc read more
