Burnt honey latte! Every latte should taste this delish!

If you are looking for an awesome coffee shop experience look no further and bookmark this place! The ambiance is so cool and chill. If you are lucky enough to have Mena as your barista, she is so friendly and kind right from walking in the store until you leave. Every barista should have this amazing customer service attitude. I told her that I don't like my drink too sweet so she recommended the Burnt honey latte and it was delicious! If you are in the area, check this place out. You won't be disappointed! Triple bookmark it!

Their staff and vibes are nice. Thought there would be more seating but I like the comfortable seating area and lighting decor. There are several tables. I ended up creating my own vanilla double matcha - matcha latte with a matcha cold foam (because they ran out of Earl grey base as part of their seasonal menu so they let simply choose a different base). Good drink and not overly sweet.

Love this spot! The staff is always so friendly and I love that it's dog friendly and woman owned. It's been a great place to get some work done and I love how there's comfortable seating options. Only downside i could see is limited parking, but I've been able to snag a spot if I get there early.

Go in through the garage, not the front doors if that makes sense! Following a recommendation from my friend, we decided to get a morning pick me up at Gremlin Garage. The ambiance is chic and relaxed, spacious with plenty of seating for studying or hanging out with friends. We had their seasonal specials, the peach ring tonic and the Kyoto fog with lavender syrup. Both drinks were flavors I haven't had before and felt crisp, flavorful, and refreshing. I definitely will be coming back

Yup! This place really exists. Take a look at the photos, now back to the review, now back to the photos, now back to this review. Is it fair to say that its mancave meets indy coffee vibes? In this case a picture is worth a thousand words. The shop is tucked inside an industrialist (mostly auto repair and custom shops) street filled with alleys. In one of the alleys lives this shop. Check the days and times the spot is open because the hours/days are indeed limited. The folks are super friendly, and accommodating. Where else do you get service as it should be, where you order your drink, take a seat and they bring it right to ya! There is a secret menu laying around somewhere (if you can find it). I've had the sparkling Yuzu Matcha here and its solid. Nice couches to relax on or tables to get a few things done on your laptop. Movies play against the wall. A small moto assortment of items and gear for sale. Dog friendlyish. Like other reviewers, parking is quite difficult. One time I had to park at Mitsua and walk (even though Mitsua parking security says you can't) and one other time I had no choice but to give up and go elsewhere because after five laps of driving around there was Ziltch, but the other nine or ten times i've frequented the place I've gotten lucky with it. Really and truly...a hidden gem!

Very cool atmosphere this place nails that masculine, vintage aesthetic. Think leather, motorcycles, vintage cameras, and typewriters. Definitely my kind of vibe.i have brought so many friends here to see how cool this place is. The staff is always friendly, and I've been here multiple times now, consistently a great experience. The espresso is excellent (5/5), and the yuzu espresso tonic is easily my favorite (also 5/5). It's unique, refreshing, and done right with the syrup and pulp from the yuzu. If you go, start with a straight espresso to really understand the quality of their beans, then branch out into a latte or one of their specialty drinks.I even picked up a bag of beans that they had for their espresso that day.

HATE when I find a coffee shop that's so stupid good I know I'm gonna be back to spend lots of money there. In this economy though, Gremlin Garage is an OC coffee shop that's well worth the $8 charge for a specialty latte for a few reasons: 1. The ambiance is excellent. You can tell someone put a lot of thought and care into curating the pieces in here. It's like a coffee shop that is lightly themed like an auto shop? Given its proximity to the auto shops nearby, this makes perfect sense and adds just a little bit of whimsy to the coffee experience. There's also plenty of seating for lounging, working, whatever. It's a great space. 2. The service was excellent. The cashier took the time to walk me through the menu when I told her it was my first time and even offered my doggy a pup cup with a little treat in it. So sweet! I love kind humans. 3. The coffee is so good and these flavors are unique, which is genuinely hard to achieve in a coffee saturated city like Costa Mesa. One of their signatures is a burnt honey latte. I ordered this and found myself having to physically stop myself from chugging it. It was that good. My husband got the caramel banana. I know banana is pretty standard these days but the addition of the caramel just elevated it a bit. He's not really a fancy coffee person and he loved this one. 4. Dog friendly! My pup enjoyed getting to come with us and enjoy her pup cup and the staff loved her. For me, this is a mark of a truly dog friendly spot, versus just dog tolerant. My only nit (and I'm sure they're well aware of this) but parking SUCKS. There's like 4 spots and on a crowded weekend even the street parking fills us. That's why we arrived as early to opening as possible but when we came by a few weekends before we just had to drive away because we couldn't find a spot. It would be great to procure a few more spots.

This spot has such a distinct vibe it feels exactly like you're hanging out in your coolest friend's motorcycle garage. It's got that raw, industrial aesthetic, but they've clearly put a lot of intention into the details to make it feel welcoming rather than cold. The service was top-tier! Even the Wi-Fi password was a highlight (it's hilarious and definitely fits the "coffee" theme). I originally stopped by specifically for a secret menu item they happened to be out of, but the guy working was so nice about it that it didn't even matter. I ended up with the Peaches and Cream Matcha with oat milk. It was delicious and super well-balanced. I also really appreciated that they double-checked with me about the topping--it's dairy, and since I ordered oat milk, it was great of them to confirm I was okay with that instead of just serving it. If you want a place with character and staff that actually pays attention, this is it. I'll definitely be back to try and snag that secret menu drink next time!

I want to gate-keep this spot so badly just because parking can get difficult! Gremlin is such a hidden gem in Costa Mesa. They have a fun menu with interesting flavor combinations, a very cool aesthetic inside (this is a former auto shop garage after all), and the owners are incredibly friendly. Like I said, parking can be difficult, but there is plenty of workspace and tables inside.

Tucked away in a business area near Mitsuwa...this spot was absolutely a hidden gem. Went on a weekday morning and it was not crowded. The people were very kind and welcoming. I got their Mango Sticky rice matcha and their winter special white chocolate raspberry matcha. I like the white chocolate raspberry more. Love the theme and interior. They have a hidden secret menu which they give you a hint on where to locate it! Would definitely come visit again.

Such a cute coffee shop with inside a garage! Not only the decorations are cool, I feel like the space is well decorated with some cool displays as well! Wow. Not to often that I go to a place and walk away wanting to come back the next day. Gremlin Garage does that. First, the flavors that come from the caramel banana latte are to die for. Love how strong the banana is. I also got the burnt honey latte and loved how simple and tasty it was. Can't go wrong with those two. Now the atmosphere is top notch. Motorcycles, green, black, and gremlins, like how can you not love the vibes. The two employees were so kind as well. I loved chatting with them about the coffee shop and about the drinks they offer. The ONLY downside is parking. Any pro tips on where to park?

The coffee here is amazing. The vibes are spectacular. The workers are so friendly and fun. There's also events here sometimes that are fun to hang out at. Even the music here is good. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is because parking sucks. There's rarely a spot available and if there is, you have to be good at parallel parking. read more

This was my second time visiting Gremlin Garage, both times I have gotten the mango sticky rice matcha on the secret menu. Both times the matcha was super clumpy and sipping the chunks of matcha was very unpleasant and bitter. The mango flavor was good, but I just wish their matcha was made in a more fine and smooth texture. Service was nice and quick, I would come back for their coffee, and study space, but just not a fan of their matcha. read more

Tucked between car repair and auto body repair shops, Gremlin Garage is a gem in the competitive Costa Mesa coffee scene. The menu offers many creative delicious options. So far I have had enjoyed the Matcha latte, regular vanilla latte and my repeat order and favorite at the moment the burnt honey latte. The baristas are always friendly making recommendations on both the delicious pastries and coffee options. As someone who usually grabs coffee on the go I've found myself staying and enjoying the atmosphere which welcomes you to relax and enjoy a little coffee and conversation. read more

This is the worst mocha that I have ever tried. It's like getting a mocha from a hospital cafeteria just taste like bad, hot chocolate, and it was very very hot to the point where it's almost burning my hand and mouth, but my wife's was not hot really weird and inconsistent how that worked out also very expensive. I recommend going to WIP WHICH IS MUCH BETTER ESPECIALLY THE MOCHA. I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY AGAIN, BUT IT FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. read more

We have seen this place mentioned on Instagram quite a few times and were intrigued by the cool, retro motorcycle shop vibe. First off - this is tucked away in a block of mechanics shops. The walk up can be noisy during the day. But once you get inside, it's just background noise with a chill soundtrack. They have a movie projected on the wall, a collection of vintage and antique items to explore, merchandise, and lots of comfy places to sit. This shop is truly offering a community space, as they advertise events taking place, such as speed dating nights and free coffee days. Oh- don't forget- we came for coffee! The menu is short, but as a natural Libra , this is better for me to make a quick decision (haha). Though it's short, it's delicious. We ordered the Caramel Banana Latte and Chocolate Pistachio Shakerato. They are known for the Caramel Banana Latte and one sip will show you why! Though I have to say I feel the Chocolate Pistachio Shakerato should share the same spot. For sweet coffee lovers, these will definitely float your boat! Ask about the secret menu. You'll get a hint to locate it and try something different. The service is excellent and personal and you'll get lots of recommendations. read more

Wow! New coffee spot - recommended by our children. So pleased we came. Ordered a cappuccino (my husbands "test" drink at any new place) and I got a mocha (best one ever!). Both perfect. Spacious space - varied seating with a fun and authentic motorcycle (and typewriter) decor. Guava Danish hit the spot. Owner and CEO Crystal is especially warm and enthusiastic - so welcoming. Easy to make this a regular place for us! read more

Went to try this coffee shop for the first time today! Had a friend visit us from SD that was equally excited since we had seen great reviews! The customer service was horrendous. I know it was early but the owner tried to correct me on the matcha I wanted. She was very rude and clearly it was too early for her to be friendly. I clearly stated the strawberry matcha on the menu and she told me I wanted the one on a separate menu. I'm not entirely picky but it just wasn't the one I wanted and I wasn't going to be charged an extra dollar for one I didn't want. Needless to stay matcha was not bad but the customer service alone deterred me from ever coming back. read more

Came in on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. The drinks we had were delicious and unique. I had a drink with burnt honey. I now like burnt honey. Who'd have thunk. The atmosphere is a singular experience for a coffee shop. Where most places would make a coffee shop look like a garage as a decor gimmick, this place is an actual garage dressed as a coffee shop, with ample seating, lounge areas and this super nostalgic Americana flavor. This is coupled with super friendly service from the baristas whom genuinely appear to appreciate your patronage and take pride in their craft. Highly recommend checking out Gremlin Garage when you're in the area. I'll be back for my burnt honey, because trying to make it at home was a bad idea. read more

Favorite place to stop by before work! I love their Banana Caramel Iced Latte and their Guava Cheese Danish. Service is awesome and each time I've gone each barista is polite and friendly. Gremlin has a lot of seating space, from long tables with several seats to comfy couches/lounge chairs. read more

I didn't have any issue finding parking on the street. 2 hour max. Easy to find. It is literally a garage. What I loved is how clean and neat everything appeared. Lots of places to sit or take pictures . The baristas were so sweet to not only myself but my service dog. I ordered my favorite, an Americano. Service was fast & my coffee, it was delicious! Be prepared, It is cashless . I didn't try any of their pasties this time, but I will be back ! Thank you again for your great service & coffee:) read more

Very cool bike coffee concept... love the theme and decor , nice place to hang out. Had the caramel banana latte which is flavorful and right on the dot of sweetness, caramelly and that banana flavor was just right with the cold foam binding it together. My husband got the hot salted caramel cappuccino in the fall menu, it's a smaller size drink , not as sweet but not a favorite. We will try the other drinks next time. And of course, try to take a peek at the secret menu! Service was great too read more

cool lil spot. i had no idea how and where to enter. its in a business industrial area. minimal menu. ordered a drink. they were super slow in making it. they sell merch and items. my drink was tasty. the one thing that i dont like is they put ice in a hot drink so when u go drink it its still like hot.. yaa kinda annoying but ok whatever. read more

My husband and i have been wanting to try this place!! we stumbled upon it through here, Yelp and instagram!! Its honestly such a cute place!!! The service is amazing!! The pastries are deliciousn, the coffees are soo good!!! I love how theres plenty of space to sit at big tables or tables with couches!! The motorcylce gear and motorcylce and well put together coffee shop is unique and amazing!!! Im so happy and glad this exists because its well worth the many visits!! You all are amazing!!!! If anyone wants to try a coffee shop that has good flavors, rich in coffee , and a vibrant , adorable, unique atmosphere and ambiance, then truly try this place out!!! read more

Cool idea, poorly executed. Environment seems like it's not authentic. Food is generic pre-bake stuff that they overheat. Service is fine. Nothing to write home about or go out of your way for. Coffee was good. read more

Hard pass. Burnt beans and they could not even make a decent latte. If you can't make a simple latte it's not a legit coffee place. My husband's banana latte was overly sweet even for him that loves super sugary stuff. Definitely, an influencer driven haven, but not a real coffee drinker destination. read more

This place was top tier. Super cool ambiance. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with smiles and amazing service. The drink selection is so fun and unique. I got the mango sticky rice matcha which is the way to go for all matcha lovers and for all coffee lovers get the s'mores drink (totally forgot the name). There is also a selection of croissants and pastries. It is a great space to study as well! read more

Super yummy drinks and food! It's a fun spot to hang out, co-work, and study. The vibe can be a little loud and more upbeat on the weekend so bring headphones if you're looking to study. It's a great place to meet up with friends though, super lively and cool vibe! Dog friendly too. Only negative is that dreaded parking lot. I've seen people get fender benders while I've been there. read more

Everything was outstanding here, love the vibe, with the hole in the wall location being a literal hidden gem off the beaten path, my drink was really good coupled with a delicious and flaky croissant. A true treasure with nice merch, awesome staff. Highly recommend the trip out here. read more

Delicious coffee that isn't too sweet! This place is close to my house and I'm so happy it opened up. The staff was super nice and walked us through the drinks and options. I can't remember the drink I got - the German cookie one.. but it was perfectly balanced with flavor and not overly sweet. We also got 2 pastries that were fresh and so good. They also have a secret menu that you have to find to order from. We we with something off the winter menu but I'm going to find it next time I'm in. My first drink was so good, I need to try the secret ones. There is plenty of comfortable seating and the decor and design of the space is really cool. We will absolutely be back! In fact, I wanted to go today but they are closed early in the week so definitely check before you head over. read more

Stopped by for the first time (well the actual first time they were closed.. very odd hours so make sure you check before you go) because this is so close to my work and I haven't found a favorite coffee spot in the area. This might've been it, but I just can't justify the price): The Rosemary's Baby Latte is delicious and so unique, but $9.50 for a latte? This coffee shop is an absolute gem! I've been here multiple times, even bringing my friends and my mom, and every visit has been exceptional. Their customer service goes beyond my expectations--warm, welcoming, and truly top-notch. They happen to be right next to my mechanic, and while trips to the mechanic aren't usually something to look forward to, this place completely changes that for me. I didn't hit the pool or gym, so not too helpful of amenities there, but the hotel overall seemed to be clean and kept up to date. We ended up renting a car through Turo, and parked in the parking garage self park. It's $40/night FYI. We'll likely pick this hotel for the next visit, and look forward to updating my review then. Speaking of room, the enhanced internet has been unbearably slow and my room did not have a refrigerator -- I always stop to buy drinks prior to arriving at a hotel. Size-wise, the room was somewhere between average and a size you'd find in Europe. I can get by with the smaller rooms, but the internet and fridge are necessities for me. I had been staying at a different hotel this week - I moved here because of airport proximity. Definitely disappointed with this property. I wish would have stayed at the other property.

I stumbled into this place after getting a beverage at Neat Coffee, which serves almost as Fldwrk lobby area. I decided to check it out and work for a few hours at a cost of $15. If you're a member of Fldwrk, it will cost you about $160 a month, which gets unlimited access to meeting rooms, extra guest privileges, and use of both locations, Costa Mesa and Fullerton. Personally I think thats pricey for what this location has to offer especially because you can get a portable Wi-Fi jet pack for $40 a month and then just post up at any coffee shop and get the same experience at a third of the cost. I might hit up their Fullerton location if I'm in the area solely based on the pictures, but I don't see myself coming to this location again or becoming a member.

I recently visited this coffee shop and was disappointed by the experience. The customer service was lacking, and I didn't feel welcomed from the start. I ordered a matcha, and it was the weakest I've ever had--mostly milk with barely any matcha flavor. The coffee was also served way too hot, and I honestly felt like it should have come with a warning. To top it off, parking was a major issue; it was nearly impossible to find a spot. Gremlin Garage is such a hidden gem! The atmosphere is super chill and creative--perfect for getting work done, reading, or just hanging out. It's got a cozy vibe with plenty of seating and great lighting, which makes it an ideal study spot. I tried the strawberry matcha and it was amazing--smooth, not too sweet, and really refreshing.
