I went later in the morning on a Saturday and had no issues finding a place to sit. I ordered their special flavor, which was a blueberry and lemon combo called Pi Day and it was amazing! The lemon (?) cold foam really sold it for me. The coffee part was great, I could definitely drink their coffee black. And the flavors were enough to make it fun and flavorful, but without making it too sweet or making me feel like I need to brush my teeth after drinking it. We stopped by ahead of our reservation near by to get a pick me up. We ordered the Golden Ratio cold without espresso and a hot one with two shots. Both versions were very tasty and the turmeric was not over powering. The cinnamon also added another dimension to the drinks. Oddly, the cold version was a bit sweeter than the hot version. We also ordered the Pumpkin Cookie. We weren't expecting much from the cookie, but it surprised us. The cookie was generously sized, moist, chewy, and not too sweet. While getting my car serviced next door I was in the mood for some coffee. After looking around I decided to walk over and grab an iced caramel latte. The latte was great and I even got a croissant which was 100/10 so good. If I'm ever back in the area I will definitely stop by. Solid place for coffee! I always want to add to my list of consistently good coffee places, and Original Barista joins this very tiny list of mine that I can count on one hand. I have tried their iced and also hot vanilla latte (I am a vanilla girly) with oatmilk and also cold foam, and I love how well their latte works together. Smooth coffee with a balance of the vanilla that doesn't overpower the espresso. The barista who took our order was very welcoming and took the time to explain the menu options. This place also doesn't charge for alternative milk options which is rare. I am shocked by their pricing though, in a good way, because they're a bit cheaper than most coffee shops in Orange County, which honestly, is really cool of them. The interior of the shop is clean, but there is limited seating. Parking can be an issue though, so it seems like it's just a matter of time of day and luck. I got a cold brew. I asked if they had sugar-free syrups and the owner went on me about how chemicals are bad for me. I didn't ask for health advice. I simply asked a question if they had sugar-free syrups available (they do not!) . I thought that the flavor of the cold brew itself was subpar. My friend got an iced latte . He said that it was okay. I was trying to be friendly to the owner (or who I'm assuming was the owner) so told him that I was a member of the Yelp elite squad and reviewed coffee on Instagram . He was kind of rude about it asking if that should make a difference to him. I then just told him I had a passion for coffee and he starts going on and on about how his coffee is the best and the competitors are ruining coffee culture and not selling quality coffee. I get that he's a business owner, but I didn't like how he was promoting negativity and lifting himself up above all of the other coffee shops. The price was reasonable. They accepted, cash and contactless payment. The interior was dark in color . It had a very modern vibe. There wasn't a lot of seating but there was some. I think it's cool that they offer five different sizes . The menu is very customizable, which I like. They offer multiple alternative milks. overall, I did not have a good experience and I also did not think that my coffee tasted all that great . The front door was wide open for who knows how long inviting flies in which then were all over the food that was in a wide open display case. The cashier showed no concern. I did not see this until after I ordered but did not drink my drink and threw it away immediately. My favorite coffee spot in Costa Mesa. As you know, Costa Mesa tends to have a coffee shop every which way you go. I prefer original barista for a few reasons they make their own housemaid syrups in which the caramel syrup so happens to be vegan and they have different size options (I usually get the 20 oz) which is very rare to find out here. The people that work here are very kind and i haven't seen it extremely busy the way other coffee shops get. read more

Stopped by Original Barista on a Saturday morning. We luckily missed the line, but it did get quite busy inside. There's a parking lot so no issues with finding parking and there's also a few tables inside along with some bar seating. I ordered a 12oz iced vanilla latte ($5.25 plus $0.75 for flavor). They have a nice variety of flavors/syrups to choose from including salted maple, caramel, lavender, and strawberry. The coffee comes with your choice of milk and I love how it's not an additional cost for anything other than whole milk. You can also add cold foam on top of your drink for $1.00 and choose any flavor. Overall, I think the latte was good and the pricing is fair. I would come back and try the other flavors. read more

I was craving for a good cup of coffee and this was the nearest barista and what a discovery! I ordered an iced chai and it was great! So pure and tasty! I also had the raspberry chocolate scone and wow delicious!! And the Barista guy with an accent approached me and was very friendly and honest and told me he accidentally pressed the wrong charge in the system and accidentally charged me more and he credited my card right away. He apologized and he said he couldn't just let that be, it's not right. Wow really good human being! In addition, the place was clean, simple and relaxing ambiance and the bathroom was top notch! Woke up feeling crappy because of allergies so I got an iced golden ratio (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon) and added a shot of espresso for that caffeine kick. Absolutely unbelievable flavor! Very good coffee and pastries! I am always in the area and this place has never popped up on the map until today and I'm glad it did. I usually make my coffee at home because I'm never satisfied with the flavor as most places just rush coffee but the Original Barista makes a great latte. I also got a pastry that was phenomenal and I think a special for Mother's Day. It was a cookie with mascarpone, blueberry, and lemon zest. I stumbled upon this modern looking coffee spot hidden away in a plaza, and it was an awesome find! The pastries immediately caught my eye, each one looking extremely vibrant and rich. I got an iced chai, which was rich with a complex blend of spices. I feel like chais at other coffee shops are pretty plain when it comes to the blend of spices, but that is definitely not the case with this place. One thing that really stood out is how each drink was carefully handcrafted with attention to detail. Angel who was working at that time looked like a true artisan with how meticulous he was with every detail. The only slight letdown was the honey used as the sweetener. It wasn't quite to my taste, but that's more about personal preference than it is quality.
