Worst experience ever. First time taking the bus and it departs 2 hours late THEN 15 mins from taking off, the bus completely shuts off. I was on a time base for family court the next day which I was late to. We had to wait coos and a tow truck that took half an hour then had to wait to be escorted which another half hour. People were leaving off the bus so I decided to have my ride called up there as well. The cops there were the rudest I've ever met. They wouldn't let me leave after 10+ passengers already left. Online it says in order to get a refund you mail in your tickets and a letter stating why you would like a refund (it's been over a week that I've done so) I call for information and I'm on hold for 20+ mins just so the lady can tell me (in a rude tone) it takes SIX to EIGHT weeks to get processed. WOW. Never again Greyhound. Thanks for really screwing us read more

Well a different experience today. The ride as usual was fantastic. Wifi good. Driver good. Checked UBER prices in sa and connection was great on the bus too. The second I get off the bus at greyhound in houston my wifi cuts off. Then turns back on.. back&forth. No way to get uber.. as it had connection issues. U might what does that have to do with greyhound. Well, the two SECURITY GUARDS acted more like taxi agents. They approach me within seconds taxi? Taxi? Taxi? I said no uber. He Came back saying "taxi cheaper than uber" (all ther while flagging the taxi from across the street!- through the glass) If that doesn't tell you someone is getting a kick back..I don't know is. My uber quote is 25 to my destination.. this taxi guy he waved came in fast and quoted 65! It was 15 dollars from sa to Houston! Come on now. I'm ok if the guy would have said 30 but after uber quoted $25.. I don't have stupid written on my foreheadand to pay 65 plus I still have to tip. read more

I wish I could give it 0 stars. For real this is a joke how this experience was, mega bus is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy more organized and helpful when you arrive at the terminal. The customer service over the phone was ridiculous. I had to reschedule my bus ride to the 19th and I kept repeating it over and over so the guy could understand and they charged me $20 to this. I said ok whatever I wanted to spend a few more days with my gf. Low and behold I check the email he sent and it said the 20th, called the next day to change it to the correct day, you would think they would change it for free being as tho I just called the prior day for this. I paid another $20 and they said they would review it and see about getting me my money back. I get to the bus station about to leave and I wait in this long ass like with no customer service to help you out and show you where to go or nothing. I finally get to the kiosk to print my ticket and it said I couldn't print it.....even though I have my confirmation number, name, amount I paid and everything. You would think you can show them your id and that would be it, no I had to forward this email to some lady who looked like she was sleep walking and it took forever for her to come back. While I'm waiting the guy up front was like, " You gonna miss your bus". I'm saying in my head I wish I was the general manager of his company undercover or something. You get what you pay for. A lot of homeless and people outside and then the buses are ran down. They have electrical plugs for your phone it's hit or miss if they work. As far as the homeless they won't hassle you just walk in the station and do your thing. Customer service is good greyhound employees are nice people. read more

Operator Williams is the worst bus driver I've ever encountered while riding Greyhound. She was absolutely rude and unpleasant. She yells at passengers and gets frustrated fairly easy. Greyhound is helpful for traveling but beware if they have issues they do their best not to make it up to you. After fighting for a $20 credit after being stuck with a broken bus for 6 hours the rules for using their credit are insane. You can't use it if you want to pay cash. That's right, you can only use it if you call the main number and use a credit or debit card. Much of the time I do pay that way but I saved the credit for when I needed it and now I am not allowed to use it. If you ever break down please don't fall for the "voucher" deal they offer you. read more

Overall the trip was nice but promises were made and not kept I road 4 busses in less then a week period and none of them had WiFi that was my only problem besides the delays but that's to be expected with driving. Online they make the busses seem luxurious and lavish but I was sadly disappointed when I boarded my first bus it was a old bus so I understood but when I boarded a new bus it was still a sad excuse for what they offered online but it did get me where I wanted to go so it has three stars. read more

There are few things about Houston I like, and a bus station isn't one of them. However, the counter attendant was helpful and got me on an earlier bus. It was clean, and most importantly the bus ran on time. In addition it was the cleanest Greyhound I've ever been on and the wifi worked flawlessly. Why Greyhound when you can Megabus now? Greyhound prices have gotten exorbitant in recent years, which makes it no longer affordable for the population it serves. My first time Greyhounding from Houston-Dallas was a scant $19 one-way in 2009; now the same road trip costs $40 even with an advance purchase. In comparison, Megabus tickets for the same route can easily be attained for $1, $3, $5, $12, or $15!!! Clearly Megabus wins out in terms of cost. In terms of social ambiance, Greyhound passengers are usually low-class and sometimes loud and raucous, which doesn't translate to an enjoyable experience. The drivers themselves are also loud and raucous -- shouting protocol and incompetently trying to maintain authority. When I called my mother on my cell phone to inform her I had arrived in Dallas, I was told to put away my device and stay silent, though the call lasted only 45 seconds. When the guy next to me bought alcohol at our midway pit-stop in Buffalo, TX, he was kicked out after half an hour of fuss. When another guy flirted and stared at me for the duration of our 4-5 hour trip, I was too scared to tell him to look away, because any such confrontation could be misconstrued by the bus driver as insubordination, which could potentially lead me to be kicked off the bus for instigating conflict. Inane rules and obstinate drivers who are on a mission to "correct" all passengers make for a horrendous experience. Lastly the Greyhound terminal is dingy. I don't enjoy being forced through metal detectors (Megabus does no such security precaution) and being treated like a criminal. read more

A complete horrible mess.Would not be surprised if Greyhound goes out of business. So I took a bus from Houston to Baton Rouge today. WRONG IDEA. Am I missing something? Where does it say a transportation company has the right to humiliate you and treat you like crap? Bus station - There isn't ANY sineage about which bus is leaving at what gate and what time. You would think there would be but there isn't any sinage in the waiting area. I ran down one of the unhelpful employees where is the signs she said there are by the ticket counter on the other side of the building. But stupid me I guess I was expecting a company where it would tell it's customers where the buses are going and at what time. Really you are just left in a dirty loud common room, you don't know where your bus gate is, you don't know what time it leaves, you basically just have to wait and listen to the intercom announcements to know where to line up, that is IF you can hear the intercom announcements over all of the loud talking, shouting, loud television, loud unruly uncouth urban folk. Sorry Greyhound gets an F- for customer service. Rude employees yelling at you like it's your problem not knowing when and where buses leave. Want information? Their attitude seems to be "Why are you bothering me with your questions???" So, I get to baton rouge an hour late, and my bag isn't on the bus. We took a bus from Orlando to Houston to transfer into Austin and so far we had a very good experience. All the bus drivers were very nice and helpful. The only issue we had was our delay to Austin but that was because of the benzene leak at Deer Park and that was out of Greyhounds hands. I didn't give a 5 star review just because of all the sleeping people out side the gates of the Houston station asking for money. Because of this we didn't eat breakfast outside of the station like I planned. read more

Now I know why everyone gasped when I told them I was going to try the bus for my next trip! Not only is the bus station surrounded by the less fortunate but when you go inside you feel like you are in a dirty shelter. It smells like a bathroom that is NOT clean and everyone that was around me had no regard for personal space. When I got on the bus it smelled like moldy play dough mixed with the smell of sausage that the girls behind me were eating. The seats are falling apart! I went to turn on my light to read my book and neither of the lights worked. Every time we hit a bump it sounded like the windows were going to pop off and from the coughing, nose blowing, and sneezing I am thinking I need to get to a clinic as soon as I get off of here. Why is this company still in business? I wanted to go from Houston to Austin. I went online, the price was $16 by the time I put the ticket into the shopping cart it had gone up to $40! So I decided to go directly to the bus station and pay cash. When I got there the self serve computer gave me a $29.35 but I could not pay in cash so I went to the counter and there the price was $37 so I went back to the self serve computer and the price had gone up to $35!!!! This is not to mention the price practically doubling when my husband wanted to pay with his credit card!!!! If I could I wouldn't even give them the one star! read more

My bus arrive early ready to catch my next bus to Houston, guards didn't let me in the bus, few people on the bus and they just won't let me in because bus "is full". Now I have to wait 4 more hours to get to my destination. I'm not riding for FREE!!! You guys are charging me almost $400 to travel from California to Houston!!! And this is how I get treated?! Bus left 48 minutes late because no one would load the bus. Lights don't work on the bus. There was nearly a fight on the bus. The late bus doesn't try to make up time at stops but instead takes 25 minute stops instead of 15. If you need to be somewhere with any sort of time constraint, this is not your transportation provider. read more

This was my first experience EVER riding Greyhound. I must say, even though my ride was only 4 hours long (to Dallas), this was an uneventful experience. Staff I dealt with here were more than helpful, showed me where I needed to be, and the ride itself was just fine - no issues. The station seemed clean, well stocked with snacks to purchase, and had evident security. I do suggest you stay inside however. There are a lot of pandhandler types outside looking for change. read more

I recently travelled round trip from houston to mcallen. This was my first trip by bus. I was scared of the travel after reading all the reviews but experience was quite the contrary. The buses left on time . The bus was clean, didn't try using the bathroom though. Both ways the drivers stopped for a 10 min break almost every 2 hours. The rest stops were decent and clean. I feel the travel was worth the price. And convenient along with wifi. If you don't want to travel all the way to downtown, there is also a stop in hillcroft . I would give it 3.5 stars. It's not perfect for a 5/5. Would have gotten a 4/5 if customer service had answered the phone. The bus station at downtown during the day was safe. I was not there at night. read more

We've been on a few trips with greyhound and there has always been a delay. Not just 5 minutes, but more than an hour.. Also, safety is not great at the greyhound bus stations. I would definitely recommend taking another bus line if possible. read more

You babies need to man up. This facility is well lit, there are guards, and a nice restaurant plus several vending machines on site in the building. It's not first class but you will get to where you need to go with little to no hassle. Have your ticket ready, if you bought online print out from the kiosk. This isn't hard. read more

I reeeeallly want to give Greyhound a minus 10 stars. Do NOT take Greyhound unless you have no other choice. Then, beg or borrow the money for another way to travel. Hitchhiking would be better than Greyhound. Hubby & I took Greyhound to Texas from FL. Had to go through Houston. No real problems until the trip home. Was delayed in Houston for over 5 hours. It was a nightmare. The seats were all those metal wire things. Not good for spinal issues and osteoarthritis. The female manager told us there would be a bus in Mobile to take us to our original departing location, but she lied. There was no bus for us. And... Missed our bus in Mobile. Was supposed to have a layover in Mobile for 5 hours. Since we missed our bus in Mobile, the bus they wanted to re-ticket us for would take us to Tampa (not where we left our car) and it would be 24 hours from the time leaving Mobile. Not a chance! I refused to allow them to re-ticket us as that would be accepting their screw-up. The customer service woman tried to give us a refund, but it wouldn't work. She had to call corporate, and the guy said he had to speak with the person who bought the tickets, me. He proceeded to tell me that I would have to complete the trip and then mail the tickets to corporate in Dallas with a detailed explanation of why I wanted a refund. What a joke. No way was I going to sit in the station for another 4.5 hours, get to Tallahassee at noon, and pull into Tampa at 7 a.m. the next day. He was rude and unaccommodating. The pain in my body was a 9 and I almost begged to go to the emergency room. Instead, we rented an SUV and drove ourselves. Called our credit card company to dispute the charge for the tickets as they did not honor their agreement to get us back to our departure location. We got our money back. Was almost the same as the car rental. Worst experience in my life! The seats are hit and miss on comfort, but none were actually "comfortable", and you will be changing buses periodically. The bathroom is like a Port-A-John, and is quite smelly if you sit in the last few rows. There is no sink to wash your hands. In 2 buses there was no hand sanitizer, which is supposed to take the place of a sink and water. There is no way to get comfortable if your legs are on the "short" side. The "footrests" are worthless, and there really is no leg room, so crossing your legs is very difficult. If you don't have muscle or other pain issues before riding Greyhound, you will afterward. The buses were over crowded and several times we had to ask someone to move so hubby and I could sit together. Being disabled, I needed him to help me with little things. If you decide to "Go Greyhound" after reading this, don't say you weren't warned. If you only have a short trip, 2 or 3 hours, you may do ok. Any longer and you will want to bring a pillow, muscle relaxants, pain pills, and maybe a joint. If any of you have bad experiences due to their screw-ups, and paid by credit card, call your credit card company and dispute the charge. If you paid cash, you will probably have to jump through their hoops, and hopefully they will do the right thing and refund your money, but be sure to write reviews all over social media so others know how horrible Greyhound is. That's the only way to get them to improve. Oh, yeah, the wifi rarely worked, and when it did, could only do minor web surfing and email. I had the worst experience with Gary hound ever I had to leave the bus station a 4a.m. and my bus was supposed to leave at 12:01a.m. How you don't have any drives with a business like that people leaving all day long and no driver. This was my first time taking a bus anymore, a trip to San Marcos and back after a weekend and my experience was horrible. On my outgoing trip, one of my connecting bus drivers got lost and we were an hour late to the station nearly making me late for my next bus. On that bus, we were blocked on a train, and were told by the bus driver that those getting off in San Marcos would get off on the side of the road and walk the rest of the way to the station. Albeit, not a far walk, but it was very unprofessional. On the return trip, it was marginally better. The bus driver was quick, efficient, and I arrived to the Downtown Houston station early. As instructed by my bus driver, I asked customer service where my gate would be, showing them my ticket to the Houston SE station. I was told by one man that it was going to be by Gate 13, and told by another man that he would show me where my Gate was going to be. Confusing, but I accepted the answer. When it was nearing my time when my bus was going to leave, I went to stand by Gate 13, and then was spoken very rudely to by the attendant that said he would show me my gate, only now telling me that was in fact not my gate. I had been waiting in the bus station an hour at this point, only to learn by asking customer service again that my bus wasn't even there and the next bus to the SE station wouldn't be for another hour and a half. I don't understand how my bus didn't exist or why they would give me a ride go around in that way, but I will never use a Greyhound bus again and will suggest to everyone that the use something else. read more

Bus from Ann Arbor to Detroit shows up an hour late. Customer service says after my 3rd phone call that it was "only" 50 minuets late, so there is no recompense for the customers. That's your idea of timely service? Worth the money to just take an Uber and actually show up on time. read more

I wish I could give this Greyhound station 0 stars!!! The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional! I purchased a round trip ticket for $250 which in my opinion is very expensive for the bus!!! I purchased a ticket for a relative. They misplaced there ticket for returning. I had my ID, confirmation number, and pass Phrase to give to the greyhound attendant . The attendant refused to print me another ticket!! They said I had to purchase another ticket which was $138!!!! This didn't seem real to me. Even the airline will print you another ticket with ID and confirmation number! So I called the greyhound corporate office and asked them to please help me. The lady over the phone was very nice and said she would have to ask a manager what to do. The manager said that they should be able to issue me a ticket as long as I had ID, confirmation number, and pass phrase. I told the attendant at the downtown Houston greyhound station what the corporate office manager had said, and they still refused to print me another ticket!!! I personally think there are a bunch of con artist working at this station! They are probably pocketing the money they make from people who misplace there ticket!
