Cash only. I ordered French toast and scrambled eggs. My husband got the half pound burger and fries. It was delicious, tasted homemade and well seasoned. Fries tasted fresh. I went for lunch/brunch with some friends for the first time. Its located in a small strip mall area off Bluffton Parkway. You can get there using backroads from 278 by taking Persimmon Street to Scott Way and navigating through the parking lots. While its listed as a diner, it look more like a 1950's Malt Shop. It has checkerboard tile floors, a large countertop and multple tables for 4 people. There's a projected image of a pink Cadillac along with Route 66 signs on the back wall. The service and food were excellent. Once you arrive, you fill out a ticket for the food you wish to order. The ticket is the size of a keypunch card or airline ticket. You put down what you want, your name and the table you're sitting at. They will bring out your food along with a packet of silverware. The condiments and paper towels are at the tables. This is a cash only restaurant. There's an ATM outside. I ordered the corned beef Reuben. The corned beef was very tender and the sandwich was a nice size for $11.99. Some of my party ordered the large breakfast sandwich and another ordered the grouper sandwich which I understand was very good and quite large. Appears to be a family run diner that serves delicious hot well made burgers as well as other sandwiches. We enjoyed two juicy cooked perfectly (one medium one medium-well) all meat burgers with shoe string fries or crispy onion rings (see photo). If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place is so unsanitary and gross. The amount of cross contamination that was going on the grill side and the cold side was unbelievable. Not a single cook in there was wearing gloves. We watched as the handled meat, eggs, toast, and lettuce and burger topping all with bare hands not once washing in between. Then the grill cook wiped his nose with his hand and proceeded to roll an omelette out of the pan with the same bare hand. The table busser/doshwasher was also bare handed, and right after bussing a table proceeded to mix and serve someone a milkshake. I have no words for how shocked I am that DHEC has not been notified. As I'm driving away I'm praying I don't get sick from eating there. Also, the servers do not bring your food to you, you have to get up and get it once one of the bare handed cooks calls your name. We went to try out the restaurant today. My husband ordered pancakes and they were burnt. The bottoms were completely black. It should have never been put on the table. We sent it back. Next set that came, he stood in front of us with the plate of pancakes, picked one up with his hand and tore it to make sure it was fully cooked. Yea, hard pass, will not be coming back. When you walk in, you will love the atmosphere. The decor is awesome. The restaurant is extremely clean and you can see the staff preparing your food. It's nice going into a restaurant that's so clean. You can tell the owner/ manager takes pride in their restaurant and has high standards based on the cleanliness alone. My husband got a cheese burger here and he loved it! I loved their grits and eggs. My husband also got a milkshake he enjoyed! We will definitely be back. The restaurant is cash only, however there is an ATM outside of the place so do not worry if you don't have cash on you. We will definitely be back! When you bit into the onion ring, no onion slides out of the batter - - that is a perfect onion ring. The rings were a big splurge for me and they were worth it.
