Stoooed at the quirky place on our way over to the airport. Had to laugh at the name and all the weird things inside and out here. They have a large menu with tons of breakfast options and sandwiches for lunch. The pricing wasn't bad. I was a little surprised that the servings weren't as large as some other diners have, but there was enough food. The food quality was average diner food, the food was quickly brought out and was piping hot. I ordered chicken and biscuits. It came with a side of sausage gravy, not exactly sure why. I did end up eating the chicken separate of the biscuit. There were two smaller tenders which were flavorful. The biscuit was fresh and fluffy. I also am not a grits fan so I opted to the Homefries. This review isn't your average Yelp fare, but I must share my experience at The Wobbly Table Diner. So, there I was, sitting at a table wobbling so violently I feared for my life, trying to get the attention of the waitress. At least, I think it was a waitress--she had a hairnet and a serious look in her eyes like she was trying to figure out if I had somehow eaten the whole menu before I sat down. Now, I'm not your typical diner guy. I'm the guy. You know, the guy who looks like he could make a cannonball at a pool party... and also break the cannonball. Not one for subtlety, I order everything on the menu. Burgers, fries, milkshakes, mystery meatloaf--I'm here to make a statement. Which, at my size, usually ends up being "please don't call an ambulance." The strangest part? Mid-meal, I began to notice the other patrons whispering. Was it because I was inhaling a plate of chicken wings like a human vacuum cleaner? Or was it my massive collection of napkins, which I used to gently wipe my brow after each glorious bite? Maybe they were just fascinated by my overall vibe--an aura of confusion, mixed with ketchup stains and grease. And THEN... the moment happened. A guy sitting across from me, eating a single lettuce leaf and staring at me with the intensity of a hawk, asked if I wanted to "join his weird contest." Naturally, I said yes, assuming he was offering me a job as a professional eater (a lucrative field). No. He was just testing whether or not I could devour a 3-foot-long sandwich in less than 3 minutes. Spoiler: I did, but at what cost? The sandwich itself looked more like a concept than a food item. So, in conclusion: This diner gets it. They're clearly comfortable with their weirdness. If you're not afraid to make eye contact with a guy who looks like a walking food tornado, then this place is for you. I had heard such great things about this place, but I was quite disappointed. It really began with the aggressive signs outside stating "we say Merry Christmas" and "we say amen at the table", " if this offends you then you can leave". I would hope that restaurants in 2022 would understand and show compassion to people who have religions different than their own. I found that incredibly rude. In addition the food is just fine. Normal diner food but not necessarily worth the wait. The final straw was seeing the rear end of a deer stuck to the wall or perhaps the creepy mannequin lady that you pass coming into or exiting the restaurant. We received several options for our boxed meals; grilled or fried fish sandwich, Greek burger, chicken salad, greek salad with grilled chicken, and a crab cake sandwich. I opted for the grilled fish sandwich, and was pretty disappointed. There was no flavor on the filet at all. It was served on a plain burger bun with lettuce and tomato, and a side salad. I was starving an hour after lunch. The feedback I heard around the break room was the food was good, but not great. It's not spicy like some variants and is a great comfort food. - Grits on a shingle. They are known for their biscuits. In this dish a biscuit is cut open faced, topped with delicious sausage patty and smothered in creamy grits with some cheese melted on top. The biscuit, sausage and grits were are great on their own and magical when brought together! TIPS - kids chicken fingers were not great. My kiddo wouldn't eat them and described them as powdery. I tasted and agreed they are low quality. - Pepper jack Mac n Cheese bites were ok. I wasn't a fan as cheese tasted like fake cheese. My wife loved them. I guess it's a personal preference. - Coffee not fantastic. We had no expectations in mind but we were pleasantly surprised with Squat N Gobble's friendly servers, quickness, good portion sizes and yummy food.
