Been coming here for 25 years. It's a small family-owned old store. Those who come here and compare it to Walmart are only hurting the community. This store is a part of Davie history. Make sure to check your receipts !! My husband went to buy a bag of corn for his upcoming hunting trip on 1/8/23. The corn was $19.57. Later, he was looking at his transactions from his bank and noticed they charged him $195.77!! So I called Monday morning around 9 and pressed the option for the corporate office and a man Tony answered. I told him the situation and he said he was going to transfer me to the feed dept. I said the website says they don't open until 10. He assured me they were there and transferred me. I quickly explained the situation and the man said, "oh.. yea, we noticed like an hour later and we didn't have your phone number". I said well he has an account there, you ask for his name whenever he goes there. He insisted, they only kept names.. Weird.. Anyway, i asked why didn't you void the charge if you noticed within an hour? He said it was too late. I let him know that is not true and I know this because of the multiple merchants I have had. Long story short, I asked to be transferred back to Tony.. Tony assured us it would be handled immediately and we would be called back within a couple of hours. I offered to pay the $19.57 over the phone right then and there and he refund the 195.. He said he'd call back. I made sure he had my number as well as my husbands. I told him that if it's easier for him, my husband is actually on his way to the bank to dispute the charge, and we can just chargeback.. He said no, no,no.. I will handle it. My husband made the bank aware, but did not chargeback. Well today, 3 days later, we never received a callback. So I called, opted for Corp., and Tony answered.. I explained we never got a callback. He told me to hold on while he handles it.. when I asked why wasn't this handled already, he responded in a very rude tone "look lady, do you want me to fix it or not". I simply said no, that's ok.. We will just chargeback through our bank. I was appalled at how I was spoken to by someone at the "Corporate office". They lost a customer. read more

This is a neat little western store in an area that still has a few horses. I remember when Davie was rural, with barns, and hitching posts. Now, it's mostly built up. Going to Grifs is like stepping into the past. The store sells all kinds of western clothing like hats, jeans, boots, and jewelry. There's lots of other western merchandise, including items for the house. Next door to the western store is the feed store. They sell stuff for horses, farm animals, and dogs. I feed ducks and I've bought fifty pound bags of duck food there. They're open seven days a week, which is very convenient, since a lot of feed stores are closed on weekends. read more

I had a good experience. I called in advance to ask about their selection of black cowboy hats. The young lady I spoke to was very knowledgeable. When I got to the store there was plenty of parking and it was easy to find the store. The young lady I spoke to directed me to where their hat selection was. I was able to find a hat I liked pretty quickly. I felt comfortable in this store and I had a very pleasant experience in this store as a woman of color. I will be returning. read more

If you're looking for some western apparel in South Florida, this is your stop! As I walked into the store, I got lost in the jungle of cowboy hats before finding my ultimate destination for boots. They have quite the selection for men & women alike. Their staff was friendly in approaching me when they saw me perusing through the women's boots. I get it. I probably don't look like their typical clientele so I could've easily been THAT naive about what I was looking at. My daughter received two pairs of boots for her birthday that she did not want. I did not get a gift receipt, but I told my daughter that I would exchange the gifts for store credit and she could pick out something that she wanted. When I went to the store, the employee told me that because she could find neither the purchaser's nor my name in the computer, that they could not take them back. The boxes were clearly marked with a Grif's price tag and were clearly not worn. This is not my first bad experience with their customer service, so I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This place is not what it use to be, selling used boots for huge prices. Confronted the lady who claims she wasn't a manager but yet was given her employee a hard time showed her the boots my wife was interested in and they were all scuffed up on the bottom as being worn already and smelled like feet, she got offended and offered me 10% off. Then took off in the back with the boots. She wanted $800 for these and I told her this was absurd. A REAL boot store has carpet or a carpet path and you are not allowed to step off to scratch the bottom or you buy them. This place is always empty and prices are marked up at least 3/4 hundred percent up. Never again will I step foot in my home town cowboy store or get my feed here anymore... expecting this store to go out of business with these issues soon. Another landmark gone to crap. read more

This review is for the feed supply store. All I can say is...gross! I realize this IS a feed supply store but does that mean it has to be so dirty? Ugh I feel bad for the few "live" animals they sell there that not surprisingly come with no guarantee. Every time I have been in that store, I try to go in and get what I need as quickly as possible and tell myself this is the last time and will find a different place to go. Since COVID19, There are several signs around the store stating a face mask is required to enter the store but this is DEFINITELY not being enforced and when mentioned to the employees they shrug their shoulders and do nothing. The older man behind the register is not friendly and minimally helpful. Seems like none of them really give a crap. Truly disappointing. read more

We went here today to take a look at boots. It's hard to find real western boots and clothing around here and this was really the only place we could come up with. I had high hopes from the reviews. I was hoping it was going to be like my old favorite, Sheplers. I loved the smell of leather as we walked through the door. The hats are the first thing that we saw. They had a very nice collection of hats - either felt or straw. I have a pin head, and never found one small enough to fit. But people with normal size heads will no doubt be able to find something. They have some nice jeans, but not much in the way of shirts, jackets, etc. I was pretty disappointed in the lack of selection. The boot choices, however, was very good. They had some of the prettiest styles I've ever seen. There is one overwhelming issue with this store, at least for us - the prices were really high. I understand that nice shoes and boots are expensive. The least expensive pair we could find was on "clearance" for $129 and that was a boot with an artificial snake print, not the real thing. The "real thing" went from an average of about $350 a pair to almost $2000. So we left. It was fun to look around, but ultimately very frustrating. read more

I am by no means a cowboy or a horse rider but when I heard about this store, I had to stop by (I was in the area). They have absolutely everything (that I could have thought of) regarding riding. It's as it says; a western store. Most impressive were all the cowboy boots there. I was tempted to get a pair but they were quite expensive (although maybe not since I have no idea what your average pair costs) so I gave it a miss. I spent about 40 minutes or so just walking around the store, having a pretty good time seeing all the interesting stuff. The western shirts were also quite nice and they also had some cool t-shirts. If you are into this stuff, then this is THE place to go! read more

I use this store to buy some items for wildlife and i do like the store and the attendants are polite and helpful but i do have an issue with this place.....i know that sometimes is not good to compare but we are in 2020, in a country that everything, and i mean everything is competition and marketing to compete with your rivals prices and products.... do know that what i buy there , the quality is exactly the same in every other store in Florida. now comes the pain....a bag of whole corn of 50 pounds is $14 at Grifs, a place located in Davie, not weston, not Gables, not Boca , not Pam beach Gardens......in Davie!!! the same Exact Bag of whole Corn at Tractor supply is $8.20 !!!!!! , $7.20 during xmas time..... this means that my 3 50 pounds of Whole corn at Grifs is $42 plus tax and at Tractor Supply is $24.60 plus tax....!!!! thats is almost Double the Wammy ladies and gents...today i went there and got 2 bags for $14 each, last time i was there and got 2 bags for $13.50 and god knows whats next. well, not for me , today was the last time they will see me there. small place, cheaper city, higher prices??? Store is cute and always a lot of items. BUT, sales are misleading and very little selection for English riding apparel & tack. Blowout sales consist of a single rack with odd sized, old breeches. Always arrive hopeful, but end up leaving empty handed. Prices are also high when compared to online or other stores in the area. Outstanding experience! My parents purchased a pair of boots for me that needed to be stretched. The boots were purchased in another state. I called Grifs to see if they were able to stretch them for me. "Of course!", they said. Up front, I asked what the cost was to be sure we were all on the same page at the start and they said there was no charge. WHAT?! Amazing start to this story. Well, two weeks later, with several trips in to try them, I was able to walk out today with the boots. Again, I asked, "how much?" and they replied with "nothing". Ashley was a great help and recognized me by face on my second trip in. Having trouble finding a camoflaged snuff box holder? Well, this is the place for you. I come here about once every four years when someone visiting from out of town asks me "where can I buy REAL cowboy boots". This place is THE place to come to for all things equestrian...shoot and dagnab it...they even have a feed store next door. A HUGE selection of cowboy boots, Jean, cowboy hats (talking up to $600 a hat here) and belt buckles. A separate back room for tackle and saddles and horsy things and bull riding things I know nothing about.. They have "show" clothes for rodeo riders - very flashy plus regular C&W cowgirl and cowboy clothes and some neat boots that I might actually have to take a special trip out there myself to buy only because they remind me of Doc Martins but only a little more feminine. The belt buckles are "intersting" and they have a big selection of Confederate Flag items.... They also have some really nice jewelry..and of course...like I mentioned...the camoflaged snuff box holder...don't leave home without one... read more

This is a great western shop. There are actually two parts to the place, being that the feed store half is right next door. If you're living on a farm, this one stop shop in the heart of Davie is an essential business to know. If you're looking for western wear, you will NOT find a better or bigger selection in Broward Co. They have tons of hats, plenty of saddles, and enough boots to keep you trying them on all day long. If you're looking for nice buckles and bolo ties, this is your spot. The only real drawback is the prices are steep. We bought a hat there that should've been 20-25 bucks at best for 40 and it was only because there was no where else to find a decent one at. A nice store with a good selection, but high prices bordering on gouging. read more

This store is just amazing! Coming out of the city to this western area of Davie is like going back in time. As you walk in the door of Grifs - them smell of authentic leather and all things Western is breathtaking! It has an amazing selection of cowboy boots in every size & style plus you can catch some great sales here too. Has a section of Children's western toys & cute kids clothes. Leather jackets, purses, jeans, tops, hats...you name it, they've got it here. Even a nice selection of western/ country decor. read more

First of all, the people on the feed store side could not have been nicer.....I'm only giving three stars because I averaged 4.5 from the feed store with 2 from the apparel side. The sales people on the apparel side use an extremely high-pressure approach which is such a turn off. It made our experience looking for boots very stressful, especially when one of them comes up to the one that was currently helping us and gets nasty with him because she said she had already talked to us and he shouldn't have butted in. It was so awkward and embarrassing. Like someone else said, the prices are ridiculous....the boots, at least the ones I was looking at were around $30 over MSRP [I would like to clarify - by MSRP I am not referring to the price online, which I found out after leaving was exactly $100 less, plus tax]. I guess they have to build that commission in for the salespeople to fight over in front of customers. I was so uncomfortable from that & the high pressure in general (they just stand there and stare at you the entire time you're looking at and trying on boots) I couldn't even think of making a purchase....when we left the guy was NOT happy. It was just such a bad experience. Will never go back here, but will go back to the feed store - thank you to the friendly & helpful people over there! read more

While they do have a large selection of boots, they are definitely overpriced. I purchased a pair of boots yesterday, only to find the same boots offered on-line at several different sites for $20.00 less. Unfortuntely, Grifs does not provide any cash or credit card refund. They only offer a store credit, so you can buy more overpriced items. My advice is to go there and try on the boots, then purchase them on-line for substantial savings. read more

Shortly after I purchased a pair of Durango boots for $180 at Grifs in December 2011, I searched on line for another color. I was very surprised to find that the boots were available from a number of sources from $115 to $135. I worked in retail for 30 years, several of those as a shoe buyer for a wholesaler with retail stores, and can tell you, this is not a matter of excessive on line discounting, but excessive mark up by Grif's Western. I then noticed the receipt allowed for store credit only. When I called the store, I was met with attitude only when I asked very politely to speak to the manger. I was then questioned with further attitude as to the reason for the call. When I finally was able to speak to her and asked only for store credit for the difference of $45, the top on line price, she told me that was too big of a credit for her to authorize and she would speak to the owner and call me back. The call never came. The impression I get is that they think they're the only game in town. They may very well be, which apparently entitles them to take excessive mark ups and operate in the darks ages with store credit only, a policy they don't make particularly clear except on a yellow carbon copy receipt. I was also met with an impatient salesman, not that they have to do much, since the boots are stacked self service style on shoe racks spaced close together, like a big discount store, which they certainly are not. I found the attitude I was met with from start to finish was one of arrogance. I don't even wear the boots because I detest the feeling of being ripped off . I'll try and get something for them at a second hand store so it's not a total loss of $180. If you want service when you buy boots from a few to several hundred dollars, and at a reasonable standard industry mark up, don't shop here, unless you like throwing money away and want the experience of a retailer doing you a favor. read more
