High and Dry! That's how Ivan and Grigsbys Movers left me today. Two days prior: Tuesday July 9th I personally spoke with Ivan about my upcoming move to another state. Originally he was was just going to load my uhaul, but then he offered me a deal to do the move himself. Ivan said that since he was already making the drive that way, he would give me a price reduction. Ivan said he would pick up my stuff on Thursday, I accepted and we shook on it. Before we shook on the deal, I explained to Ivan that I would be buying a plane ticket to my destination and that my wife and I just had a baby and it was imperative that the move take place this weekend. I told him that I was going to cancel client appointments to accommodate him and the time he requested to pick up my stuff. Ivan said he understood and assured me that he would take care of everything and that it was a simple move. Today: July 11th... moving day: I received a call (voicemail) from Ivan at 9:30am saying he was ready to pick up my stuff. I was with a client, but I responded to him via text at 9:43am asking if we were still on schedule. Ivan responded promptly asking when I would be available. I said I could be available a little before our scheduled time (noon). Ivan responded 3 minutes later (9:46am) saying he was canceling my move because the other person canceled their move. In 3 minutes he went from ready to move my stuff, to, "My other client canceled on me last minute, so I have to cancel on you... sorry for the inconvenience." Really?!?! In three minutes time, our arrangement is dead? I'm calling BS! I think he dumped me for a better deal! I asked him why he couldn't do the move anyway and his response was that it didn't benefit him financially anymore. I said, so that's it... No offer to help me with any alternatives? I reminded him that I had already paid for my tickets (that are non refundable), that I lost money canceling my clients, my apartment is now I wreck, and that any last minute company or uhaul is going to cost way more now! Ivan acted like he could care less. No remorse or offer of any reasonable alternatives. So I asked him what it would cost to have him move just my stuff. Ivan's quote was well over double the original cost. Knowing that any move now is going to cost me a lot anyway, I was going to accept his offer... I asked him to call me.... he said he would... he never did! He did text me to say he was rebooked again with someone else. So... he booked another client instead of calling me and settling our situation. Well several hours later.... nothing! Absolutely nothing! I even spoke with the company that referred Ivan to me, and the owner himself said that it was very unprofessional behavior. That owner (on vacation) at least gave me some options to check out! While Ivan offered nothing to help. Now... My move is pushed back weeks, I'm out several hundred dollars in income and plane tickets, and I'm no closer to my wife and baby. Point is.... Ivan is a hustler and can't be trusted. His word is worthless and he only cares about his bottom line... his wallet. He had no compassion or remorse for leaving a client high and dry, knowing all the while, what was at stake. No integrity! PS- Ivan wouldn't even offer up his Business license or DOT credentials... a National moving company looked up Ivan's company and said that they couldn't locate his credentials either and said that this was a big red flag! These movers showed up EARLY, with a fantastic attitude and all 3 gentlemen were genuinely hard workers. I have had other movers before and had broken items and bad attitudes - not these guys. They disassembled and reassembled all of my furniture, moved and packed everything with care, and were a joy to be around. I cannot recommend them enough! We used Grigsbys Movers for a move from Sacramento to San Diego. From the initial contact to the finish, Ivan was professional and responsive. Ivan and Steven did the loading in Sacramento and the unloading in San Diego. They disassembled and reassembled two items of furniture, plastic-wrapped and blanketed other furniture and took great care of our possessions. They showed up when they said they would show up, and they didn't dilly-dally around. Ivan quoted a very competitive price, and that price included everything -- their time, the packing supplies, the truck, the gas ... everything. They also offered a junk-haul service for only an extra $50, and we took advantage of that! All in all, it was a great move and there were no unpleasant surprises. The Guys were considerate to call and say they may be a bit late. They wore masks, which I appreciate, and worked their tails off for hours lifting and moving our heavy objects. They made sure our belongings were wrapped and safely moved and set up in the new home. They needed 3 guys for our move, it turns out, started with 2, but a 3rd guy helped out in the afternoon. Ivan, Stephan and Juan arrived on time and were super friendly. They wrapped all of my large items to ensure they were not damaged during transport. They even unloaded everything and placed it exactly where I wanted it in my new house. The only downside is the move took two hours longer than they estimated and they accidentally scratched my cabinets when moving my fridge in, but they offered to fix it or take money off of the total cost of the move - and hey accidents happen! Very grateful for these guys and their assistance to get us moved into our new house. read more

Update: part 2/2 Once again Ivan with Steve showed up ten minutes early to get me loaded in a one way rental. Ivan's uncanny loading ability really helped in maximizing use of space in the truck. Moving can be stressful, but these two killed it and made everything less stressful. Grigsbys Movers is a great affordable moving company . Ivan the owner is respectful, communicates in a timely manner and no hidden fee's. He explains the process and answer any questions you may have. My first experience with them I was needing to be out of my apartment in 14days and moved on base. I was offered 2 movers in which they came on time & communicated the time of arrival. I can't remember their names but I do remember they were brothers and the worked proficiently and in a timely manner. They also asked questions as well as wrapped my important items likes my TV's etc. It was complicated getting the truck on base due to the security points at the entrance however, they were very patient with me & everything worked out. Grigsby Movers/Ivan was very responsive and professional from my first phone call. He was easy to work with for a simple move that I needed between 2 of my homes. I moved to Sacramento this past December. It was during the pandemic but I could not afford to stay where I was living. Since it was just my daughter and her girlfriend moving me we needed help. So I called Grigsbys Movers. They were wonderful! The manager/ owner was so nice and very polite not to mention patient. He answered all my questions and told me to call back if I had any more questions or concerns. I called back a couple of times. And he always got back to me right away. On the day of the move the movers got to my new place early. They worked hard and got everything done very quick!y I hope I won't have to move again for a very long time. I had a stellar experience with Grigsby. I decided at the last minute to hire movers, so I was thrilled when Ivan told me he was available with 4 days notice. His pricing is reasonable and I appreciated that he has a 3 hour minimum. I moved from a one bedroom downstairs apartment to a one bedroom house with just furniture and boxes. Steven and Yonnie arrived early and ready to go. They were both friendly, professional, and careful with my things. They made sure all my fragile items were well packed, and they come ready with all the supplies needed for a great move. When we arrived at my new place, Steven asked me to show him where I wanted everything to make sure it all went in the right place. It only took them 2.5 hours, including disassembling and reassembling my bed, as well as moving some furniture around as I was figuring out where I wanted it. Overall it was a perfect experience. Ivan Grigsby is the worst mover I've ever used. Don't even consider them. We had an agreed on price and date. On the date of the move his truck broke down, then, he showed up with a smaller truck the next day. On that day he had another excuse saying he went on a 5 mile hike and couldn't finish loading. The next day they packed the truck but didn't have room for all of our belongings that he promised to move. That evening he sent a revised contract with a new penalty clause that might have doubled the original agreed to price. Since I refused to approve the new terms, Ivan brought back (hopefully) all of our belonging on his truck. I had to scramble to rent a good Penske 26' truck, hired a crew to load this truck and I drove 2000 miles to our new home; there I hired another crew to unload.. My wife has a chronic illness (that Ivan was well aware of) and this move was devastating to her safety and well-being. he should be ashamed of himself. But without a conscience it probably didn't matter to him. read more
