Service was great for a Monday night. We got immediate attention and our server was polite. Food was very good and tasty. This food tastes authentic, healthy and yummy! It's very filling I had the gyro and was able to take my other half for lunch the next day. Ambiance was decent seems like a good spot to get a quick bite or even a casual date.

My go to dinner spot. I'm always greeted immediately and the servers are attentive. The intimate dining room is where I enjoy the best falafel in the area. My go to with every meal is hummus and calamari. The Grilled Branzino Filet was too dry for me.

Today I happen to visit Rumi Mediterranean Café and Grill. I have walked past this restaurant on several occasions, but I never was hungry right then and there. So I made a mental note of the place and promised myself that I would come check this place out. Anyway, today was the day that I decided to stop in and have some lunch. The ambience of this restaurant is quite lovely and the staff was beyond friendly. I was quickly and efficiently sat at a table, handed a menu, and my drink order was taken. The place was pretty empty as you can see by the photographs and so I had a lot of time to peruse the menu. So, let's talk about what I ordered. So I decided to start my meal with the lentil soup as an appetizer. And for my entrée, I decided to order the lamb Shawarma platter. The lentil soup arrived surprisingly quickly with a side of warm pita bread but was quite flavorless. Then moments later, my entrée arrived. I was really looking forward to this Shawarma platter until I tasted it. To say that it was void a flavor would be an understatement. I had to salt and pepper the meat just to get some sort of flavoring because this dish was truly void of any taste. To be quite honest with you I really wanted to like this restaurant, the service was lovely and the restaurant was clean and had a nice ambience, but the food just didn't hit the mark. Hopefully one day I'll come back to this establishment and give it another try but until then, they just get three stars. I hope that this information helps you on whether or not you decide to visit this restaurant. But anyway, until next time, happy timing and happy yelping!

This place opened recently in the old Glenwood Diner, and the interior looks really nice and updated from the old decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I looked in the dessert case, and a staff member came over to tell me what everything was. They all looked good! I got a gyro to go, and the gyros are described as coming with "served with lettuce, onions, pickles and french fries" as having a side of fries, not fries inside the gyro, as I've never seen a place do that. The wording doesn't say it's on the side, but I think that's more expected and for the price, a side would have made sense. It came with a side of sauce, and the gyro was tasty. This place has some really promising items and nice atmosphere. There is some parking in a lot or street parking available. It's nice to see a new business in the area.

We were just sitting here, with our average rating hovering near perfection, wondering what it must be like to have a highly refined palate that apparently finds fault in freshly made Mediterranean cuisine, professional service, and fair pricing. Thank goodness we finally have you to set the record straight. Let's unpack this together, shall we? First, the food: Everything at RUMI is prepared fresh on the premises daily. That's right--no microwaves, no frozen nonsense, no mystery meat from a back alley. Just chefs actually cooking--a concept that may seem foreign if one is more accustomed to ordering via a clown's drive-thru window. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the presentation? Let's just say I've paid twice as much elsewhere for something that looked like a rejected high school home economics project. Speaking of prices--if you thought they were too high, perhaps the issue wasn't the restaurant, but your budget? There are wonderful establishments that serve food in paper bags through sliding windows at lightning speed. Just a suggestion. Now, I've been a regular at RUMI for over a year and a half. That's four times a week, every week. Do the math if you must. I'd gladly double what I pay because the quality of the experience is that consistent, that professional, and that exceptional. The staff knows customer service like they invented it. If you felt neglected while being "the only one in the restaurant," might I recommend saying something? The owner, mind you, is on-site daily, clearly visible and always receptive--unless, of course, speaking up might interrupt a good sulk. And let's be honest: if you are the lone dissenter in an otherwise glowing chorus of praise... maybe--just maybe--the problem isn't the café. Anyway, we'll be over here, sipping our freshly brewed Turkish coffee, enjoying a beautifully plated lamb shawarma, and basking in what the rest of us recognize as one of the best dining experiences in town. Very quaint inside but very cold. The restroom was absolutely freezing. We both had the Lamb Doner Shawarma dinner. Sliced very thin, not much flavor. It was served with a salad, no flavor either. No sauce served. It would be nice if entree was served with some hummus or Tzatziki sauce. Our entrees were not served together which was very odd. I had to wait 6 more minutes for my entree to arrive and we had the same dish. Staff was very friendly.

Rumi was the perfect place to celebrate a friend's birthday! We were able to make a reservation for 8 online, and they were ready to accommodate us with no issues. The staff were all friendly & informative. The food was all so delicious! We loved the cigar rolls, babaganoush, and stuffed grape leaves as our appetizers. All the entrees came out fresh & delicious as well. They had a great atmosphere, fun music, and even played the birthday song when it was time for the birthday cake! Will definitely be coming back. What a SPECTACULAR restaurant with amazing food and pleasant staff! I am almost sad that I am moving out of the area because this is some of the best Turkish / Mediterranean food I have ever had. The portions are very generous, with flavorful options. My husband and I have been here a couple of times since they opened, and we leave STUFFED with leftovers to enjoy the next day. Do yourself a favor and check out this new restaurant because they deserve to be a Bloomfield fixture for the next hundred years! read more

Just had lunch here the other day. The food was very good, fresh and flavorful. The owners are super nice. There is a special lunch menu during the week that includes soup or salad, an appetizer, the meal and a soda. I've been back a few times now and everything is still wonderfully fresh and delicious. Was out one night with my partner we decided we wanted to grab something to eat, happened to pass by Rumi and decided to go in. I am so happy we did. The food was on the money. We had the Lebni with pita; absolutely fresh and tasty. We each had a gyro wrap. Mine was lamb and my partner had the chicken. Both had plenty of flavor and very filling. We decided to take a look at the desserts on display and take some home. The owner came over to us and explained each dessert to us. As we asked for our desserts to go the owner offered us fresh brewed Turkish tea and a small plate with two cookies. He said it was on the house. I thought this was very thoughtful. We had a very nice conversation with him about the restaurant and everything in between. I will definitely be back. This place is a hidden gem in Bloomfield. read more

If you want authentic Mediterranean food, you MUST pay a visit to Rumi located on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield. Went there over the weekend and was blown away by the food. Their chicken orzo soup was delicious. Had fresh homemade hummus with pita as an appetizer. For main course, the chicken shish kabob served with rice, grilled tomato and hot pepper, and thinly sliced onions drizzled with olive oil was the best I've ever had. Truly! Service was outstanding and we were treated like family. The ambiance is so beautiful and parking at the door. Do yourself a favor, try Rumi. You will be most pleased! read more

We had a medium sized party of 12 here. The restaurant was clean...the staff so responsive and attentive, the food was delicious... Went to Branchbrook Park for cherry blossoms and found this cafe on internet. The place is small and very inviting. The owner was very accomodating and friendly. The food was superb! It is a byob. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and will try to get back there. It has a small parking lot. It's cozy, genuine, and the kind of place where you can tell there's a lot of love going into what comes out of the kitchen. And speaking of that kitchen--you can see it from pretty much every seat in the house. Watching several cooks navigate what looks like an incredibly tiny space is almost mesmerizing. Somehow, they move around each other seamlessly, and the best part? The food comes out FAST. My wife went with the hummus, and it was creamy, flavorful, and delicious. But the surprise star on the side was the salted dried kale chip--such a simple little addition, but ridiculously good. Then came my pancakes. Out of this world. Small in diameter, but super thick, with a beautifully crispy exterior giving way to an interior that was fluffy, light, and airy. I've tried making this style of pancake at home countless times, and I still have absolutely no idea how to get that texture. The syrup and berries were the perfect finishing touches. Everything just worked. I've made and had soooo many pancakes in my life, and this is easily top 3 best. The Corner is the kind of place that makes you start planning your next visit before you've even left. I'll be dreaming about getting back to this Corner.
