I am pretty sure Lala was the person who greeted and took our order and as a long term vegan but first time customer to a Brick City Vegan was grateful to have a knowledgeable host...and Lala was extremely informative and friendly. Two of us got the chicken sandwich and one of us got the chicken biscuit and it sufficed to say, it was a quiet and napkin filled lunch. Our sides were all different, plantains with the biscuit, and sweet potato fries with one and Cole slaw with the other. All were delicious, though I am used to a little more vinegar in the cole slaw. We will be back to explore the menu further.

Food- quite good, BBQ oats were particularly inventive. Service was where Brick City could definitely do better. The woman who served us was sullen and monosyllabic. We wanted to love the place, as traveling vegans and foodies, but honestly the vibe was really ruined by the cashier's resentful attitude. One example I can think of is when we ordered drinks, we sat there for about ten minutes before my mother ventured to ask if we should get the drink ourselves-- to be greeted by an unfriendly "yup". (Getting the drink ourselves is not a problem, of course, it's just that we would have appreciated her letting us know beforehand, or at least responding in a friendly, civil way.). The food is perhaps worth the visit, but just be prepared for a gloomy, sour-faced vibe inside.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while since it opened. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in, and the spot was cool. I ordered a few things, including the California burger, the chicken biscuit, and the power bowl. Those dishes were very good. My favorite was the California burger. I also had the Forever Young smoothie, which I didn't care for. All in all I had a good experience!

Black eyed pea burger with sweet potato fries, butter and jam biscuit, and a hibiscus tea

The food and service here is absolutely amazing!! The lovely lady in at the front answered all our questions and was so knowledgeable. She was so kind and sweet to my friend and I. The burger itself was filling and came out fast. It honestly tasted like a "real" burger coming from someone who eats not just vegan food all the time. I will definitely be back. Shout out to the great customer service we experienced today:)

    Chicken biscuit sandwich. Terrible.

Disappointed. Biscuit was dense and not flavorful. Chicken biscuit sandwich was missing the tomato and ranch. It had red and yellow onions and wilted sparse lettuce that was stringy. Plantains were burnt and inedible. Cole slaw tasted like it went baWhat a waste of money.

The black-eyed peas veggie burger with he yum yum sauce and it was delicious. It has a smoky barbecue flavor and a firm bun that held together. There were lots of layers of flavors. I would ask for the sauce on these side next time. My sister had the bowl with quinoa and black-eyed peas. She loved it. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. I'm definitely going back.

Very tasty vegan burgers and fried plantains! I've tried all three and the black eye pea burger is by far the best one. Street parking is tough; there is also a paod parking garage next door.

Homestyle vegan food, small sitting area. Been there a few times and enjoyed my meals. Just wish they had more variety on menu.

The service was great from the door to the plate. The hostess greeted us with a giant smile and we were sat down immediately without reservation. Which is a plus on a Saturday night. Our waiter was nice as well and offered a nice drink substitution for the honey wine. I can't recall the name of the drink but it was a hibiscus tea with honey. We ordered the entree where we could try a little of everything. The ambiance of the place was good. The place embodied the right about of light. It wasn't too dark or too bright and there wasn't loud music where you can have a conversation. If you like Ethiopian food, it's definitely worth the try because the food and experience was great!

Cozy spot with great service, attentive and helpful with suggestions and explanations I like that the food had the authentic names to each dish.Even though it was hard to decipher what exactly each dish was, it stayed true to the culture which I can appreciate. I have to admit the food is not very photogenic, but it did taste good. I feel like we got to try a little of everything by getting the sampler options. I would highly recommend taking that option when trying for the first time. I also ordered the mint tea, which was a great choice because it was so warm and comforting, especially with the cold rainy day we visited. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's never tried Ethiopian food before.

My husband and I really wanted some restorative, Japanese comfort food. However, we were unable to go there in person because he was sick, so I ordered delivery from them for the first time (via Uber Eats). The food held up well in transit and was just as good as if we were dining in. I went with a Karaage Rice Bowl with a Ajitama (6 minute egg) as an added extra. My husband went with a Vegan Ramen bowl. While we were supposed to share the Crispy Tofu Buns, my husband couldn't stop after one. Hey, I can't really blame him though, they are delicious. I can't say I would not have done the same thing had I gotten to them first ;)

Walked in and I loved the place already. Very chill and relaxing ambiance. Staff was very friendly and quite a lot of seating. Went on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of seats. I don't live very close so I thought I'd order a few things on the menu to try a variety. Was glad I did. Started with the cucumber salad. Light. Refreshing and even has a little kick. I couldn't stop eating it! Ordered the braised pork belly Bao. Comes in orders of 2. Sooooooo flavorful and so worth it! Ordered the Short Rib Ramen and their Special Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. So much flavor in the broths. Very filling and the numerous flavors from the fresh onions, to the beautifully cooked pork belly and short rib, to the perfect soft boiled eggs. A+! Will most definitely be on my mind to stop by every time I'm in the area!

The pan seared calamari was naked which is more healthy than fried! The miso aioli made the big difference with the squid! It was different and delicious. The squid was tender and not chewy! For dinner I ordered the beef shish kebab. It came with two kebab. The beef tasted delicious with the Turkish style marinade. I think it would have been more worth if they added another kebab stick. The pistachio rice was good. It was a different taste with nice almonds slices. The only negative were the kebabs and rice were cold like the onion salad. And I loved the onion salad. We also ordered the salmon artichoke. The pan seared salmon was over cooked. They should have seared it in a shorter time. And it lacked seasoning believe it or not! The artichoke Brussels were a little on the burnt side. The spicy tomato sauce tasted more like ketchup. We will not be ordering this in the future. We also ordered a side of fries and Tahini brussels. The fries weee very tasty and I savored every piece. The Brussels were tasty as well. For dessert, we ordered rice pudding and baklavas. I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.
