We stopped in for the breakfast buffet, and everything was delicious. The menu doesn't specify, but the waiter informed us that it's only $17 for kids, rather than the $35 for adults. They had steel-cut oats, made to order eggs, mini croissants and danishes, little waffles and pancakes, yogurt, granola, fruit, and more. Something to please everyone in the family. The meal is a total disappointment. Overpriced for what you get. 46 bucks for a 6oz filet that is not even cooked to spec. The $38 halibut was overcooked (we had them take it back), and the $33 Lemon Salmon didn't taste like lemon. With these prices, you would think they would get your order spot on - not! My son's filet was overcooked (it was medium instead of medium rare) and my dish was delivered without brussel sprouts and a massive amount of quinoa - which totally overpowered the dish. Furthermore the portions were a joke - which seems to be a common theme of restaurants at Whistler. You'll be hitting mcdonalds afterwards to feed your kids. If you are going to charge outrageous prices for your meals, back it up, otherwise you are just in a long line of pretentious, wanna be, fufu restaurants that seem to be taking over the scene in the Village. I do have to give a shout out at their Margherita pizza - that was legit and considering that most of the patrons were ordering pizza - it appears this is what the need to stick to. Westin really needs to think about their menu choices, it is pretty obvious that they are delivering dishes beyond their skill level. I'll be coming back here in the winter time, but I'm thinking that I will rather face the cold and get a meal worthy of our time and money. read more

Thought I'd check this place out for breakfast. I was charged very expensive price of $26 for a salmon Benedict that I realized didn't even come with the salmon until after I left but I was charged for it. I ordered extra mushrooms, spinach and cheese with tomato and I noticed once I left it was missing the cheese and salmon but was still charged $26 Service was slow, place was empty. My water glass had dirty lip marks all around it so when I finally got hold of the waitress and told her response was that the dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes properly so she will get me a new one. Again she brings a dirty glass with slimy dirty lip marks all around it again so by this time I just did t drink water. I'm eating my breakfast not feeling to good after this especially when she tells me that the dishwasher doesn't clean dishes properly. Charged $5 for tea which is high as well. The strawberry garnish was old and soggy and the fruit on my plate was warm and dry appearing like it had been sitting out for a few hours. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Vegetarian options are adequate. But a bit pricey since I don't eat fish and sausages. $30 per person. Sigh. Free juice plus refills though. Chef can make you an excellent omelet or over hard eggs. I cant stand over easy eggs. Salmonella anyone? They had an array of cheese, especially boursin. Oui! Also, several fresh fruits. HORRIBLE SERVICE ruined the night. Food was ok, nothing to get excited about but nothing to complain about either. The problem was the service. Here are the lowlights: After over 5 minutes with the drinks menu, our server finally came over to describe how use it. Ummm, duh! By that time we'd already decided on cocktails and a bottle of wine, but he walked away before we could even order! Then over 5 minutes later, he came back to explain the specials, and again promptly walked away without even giving us the opportunity to order drinks. It took 10 minutes trying to get his attention and finally literally waving the drinks menu in his direction to get the order in. They brought 2 of our 4 entrees to the table next to us, that had just been seated. When these folks questioned this, the wait staff got together for a chat, a several minutes later, realized the error. They then simply took the food from that table and set it on ours. EWWWW!!! My scotch glass was left empty on the corner or the table from the time I finished it (prior to apps) until the bill was paid. Speaking of the bill being paid, I picked up the tab yet our server gave it to my husband to sign (despite the name on the card being obviously female). I could give more details, but these are the most egregious. 2 1/2 hours after sitting down, we were finally free of an overall appalling dining experience. No offense to the chefs (the food was acceptable (though overpriced), but the service left a foul taste in our mouths. read more

Staying right in the hotel meant that visiting this restaurant downstairs was a convenient option, particularly for breakfast, as the buffet was included in our daily room rate. We aren't big eaters, so we don't normally do buffets and we certainly wouldn't pay $30 each for breakfast, but as it was included, we took advantage. Their breakfast buffet is a cut above in that there are chefs on hand to custom-make hot dishes such as omelettes, bennies, French toast or anything else you can dream up. There were many other hot and cold items at the ready also - overall, a wide and varied selection for just about any taste. We visited once for dinner and have to say that while the service was excellent, my food was just OK. I selected the mushroom papardelle and the portion was truly generous. The pasta was excellent (I suspect house-made) and the variety of mushrooms interesting, but overall the dish was bland and could have used a lot more seasoning or perhaps a touch of a creamy sauce - the jus just wouldn't adhere to pasta and remained in the bottom of the bowl. I know restaurants rely on wine and liquor sales to drive up the profit margin, but charging $47 for a bottle of wine that retails for $17 kinda hurts. I started out the meal with a French 75, in which I could barely catch a whiff of gin - disappointing, as it was $14 for the one beverage. As another reviewer pointed out, do watch the by-the-glass wine list for portions and price points, as the font on the menu is teeny-tiny and you may be surprised to receive only a two-ounce pour when you feel like you're paying for a full six-ounce serving. read more

I would give this place 4.5 stars if yelp allowed it. We came here as a last minute option for Christmas Eve dinner. We had the set menu, $69 per person. The food was great: the appetizers were pretty much perfect. Only thing is would have liked a tad more seasoning and a slightly larger portion of the risotto. The apple and chestnut soup was superb, as was the bison carpaccio. The entrees were also very good, but nothing really unique. We had gotten the turkey and the lamb. The dessert was the pleasant surprise of the night. We didn't think we'd like it when we saw it on the menu, but it was very, very good! It was a unique, simple, but flavorful dessert that completed the evening wonderfully. Service was excellent. The only thing that was inconsistent were the drinks. The martinis were great, the Caribbean hot chocolate was OK, and the wine was overpriced. You could get a $40 bottle of wine at Araxi or Table 19 that is 2x better than the $70 bottle of wine we got here. Overall, we had a great Christmas Eve dinner. $64 for 2 glasses of Beringer's Cabernet Sauvignon! Seriously? We thought we were ordering a $10 glass of wine when the server asked me if I wanted a 6 oz. glass of wine. This is normally what most restaurants serve when I responded yes. When we got the check, we called the manager over because we thought there was a mistake and it was pointed out to us that the prices were listed on the menu. Upon closer scrutiny, (you need reading glasses) to see that $10 was for a sip (2 oz), $32 (6oz) and $40 (8oz). We paid for it but felt it was deceiving as we have never seen this type of practice in restaurants. Also, we were seated in a small section in the back that was not anything like in the pictures. Even though it wasn't crowded, it seemed no one was seated in the nicer part of the restaurant. Instead we got seated at plain looking tables with no tablecloths next to the kitchen. We were dressed nicely and not impressed with the boring decor. We were staying at the hotel so we were surprised that management didn't handled the situation better. read more

We went here not expecting much since most people say you shouldn't eat where you sleep if you want it to be good. We were blown away, it tasted better than it even looked coming out of the kitchen. Nothing was as promised, low quality budget CISCO food poorly executed and terrible service! broken salt and pepper shakers and had to ask for sugar for coffee at the table, as well as being served the bill as soon as we sat down. Everything was cold or very old and or from a bag or concentrate. DO NOT RECCOMEND!!! way better way to spend $100 for 2 people. My partner works at a camp and and has a way better breakfast daily. Fine for a hotel restaurant. The best part about it is that the scotch is a really good value. Not sure if this is an international thing, but I gladly would have gone back for scotch. Pizza was fine. Salads were a pretty big portion. The mussels had a nice flavor, but portion was small and the mussels themselves were pretty small for the season. read more

We ordered - Salmon tasting - did not taste the freshest - Beef carpaccio - OK - Mushroom risotto - a bit salty - Mussels - Penne arabiatta - Seafood linguine The food tasted OK but seem a bit heavy. Mussels were very small. Service was great. We had chocolate lava cake which was very basic. Raspberry and mango sorbet was good. read more

Are here twice for dinner and every day for breakfast while staying at the Westin for the week. The dinners were significantly better (that part I'd give 4 stars) than the breakfast. Yes, we had the buffet because I had already opted for the breakfast coupons as my SPG Platinum gift. Those, however, only cover the continental portion and unless all you want is a carb overload breakfast, realistically you will be paying the $11 upgrade to the full buffet for mediocre eggs. Even the fruit is part of the main buffet - not the continental section. Convenience however beat the desire to find other breakfast options. To be fair, I find most ski town breakfast options lacking so it's about on par with expectations. read more

Its a sad day when the only two places to get a breakfast buffet in whistler is the westin and the chateau. Went to take my girlfriend out for a nice birthday buffet breakfast. Decided on the westin. Good grief what a major disappointment was this. Sorry to say, not only was our greeting staff rude and abrupt, pushy and inconsiderate. Our meal at 37 bucks a plate was completely not edible. There was non of the beautiful multigrained fresh b/reads that were advertised with one whole toaster to serve an entire restaurant, eggs bennys were certainly not made to order, sitting pathetically pre made under a heat lamp, dry and un appealing. Fruit selection was descent although they must be having a hard time finding someone to dice it up properly so it only comes in fist sized chunks, they might aswell just put apples and oranges out instead. The so called premium cheeses and cold cuts as far as variety were non existent and what was there was cut so paper thin you would have to take the whole tray in order to get something resembling a cheese slice or deli meat, not to mention the cheese had more sweat on it than a hot yoga class, and the cold cuts were dried out around the edges indicating being there for some time. The so called fresh veggies were also non existent and what was there was dry and/or soggy. There was a heap of scrambled eggs, i think? that looked like they been there for a few hours, the hash browns were a cheap sysco brand that i wouldnt even buy if they were on sale at the grocery store. the bacon was a miserable ball of god knows what that wouldnt even seperate itself and the sausage my dog wouldnt even eat. The french toast resembled thin hard plastic and the waffles weres no better than toasted eggos. The only one thing they had that was true to their advertisement was the omlette station that was one manned with a line up near a mile long. The service was non existent except for to bring me my bill 5 minutes after i sat down with my pitiful plate of processed food that went down half ways and was spewed on the side walk the moment we left. I work in a camp that serves proper food 7 days a week for 1500 workers that is better executed and properly set up for this kind of thing. It is absolutely appalling to think that at 37 bucks a plate i would be better off standing in a soup line. Thanks alot westin for a complete rip off and an utterly tireing experience. After two straight nights of terrific meals (at Red Door Bistro and Rim Rock Cafe), we thought we might be in for a bit of a letdown when we visited Grill & Vine on our third night in Whistle. Not so, sir! This place was a revelation! The room is bright, airy and flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows all around. Our server (Lysas) was a delight - we loved interacting with her. I started with the Crab Cocktail (with heirloom tomato, horseradish creme fraiche and red tobiko), and it was fantastic. But my better half won the award for the best job ordering the starters - she chose the Pemberton Garden Salad, with vegetable ribbons, hazelnuts and ver jus. She was generous enough to share some of this salad with me, and it might have been the most delicious salad I've ever tasted! Vegetables so fresh they tasted like they came out of your garden that day, and a dressing so light yet so flavorful, we had to restrain ourselves from licking the plate. For mains, I chose the 12 oz Ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, while my lovely lady chose the Sea Scallops with Israeli couscous and preserved lemon butter. Delightful! We couldn't have been happier with this meal, and we WILL be their guests again on our next trip to Whistler. read more
