A friend made a reservation for the both of us on Easter. She said the reservation was made for 2pm. Neither of us had ever been there and we had no expectation. We arrived at 1:45 and walked into disarray. No one to great us, no host or hostess, just a lot of confusion. There was no record of my friend's reservation. We learned there was a 2:30 seating and that took us by surprise. We waited at the bar and had a few drinks. This had me feeling anxious. We heard them discussing table seating for different parties, but when I asked, my friend's name was still not added to a seating list. It seemed there was no one in charge. As 230 approached, we were told we can follow them into the seating area and while other tables had the parties names on small placards, still there was nothing on the two open two-seaters tables. We sat, and waited. On a positive note, we were the first table to be told the food was ready and we could go into buffet. No complaints about the food, it was pretty good. The final irritation was when our bill came, and I handed my credit card to the server. She seemed to be taking a long time to return with my card so I got up and went looking for her. I approached the bar and found her discussing an issue with a co-worker about another diner's bill. All the while holding my card in her hand. I stood at the bar, be ignored until I politely asked if there was a problem with my credit card. They snapped out of their daze and apologized to me. We wrapped up the transaction, and we left. As I said, the food was good, but maybe because it was a special holiday buffet everything was messed up?? Not sure. Not a pleasant experience. Good food can't make up for the ridiculous absence of good service. Doubt I'll return. read more

I want to like this place so much. It has a nice view on a beautiful day and the food is pretty good. I've had the Steak and Cheese and Nashville Chicken, and also tried some appetizers. All solid, but nothing special. But the service is so bad. Expect a long wait to order, for your food, for refills, for anything. It's a combination of the servers and the kitchen and neither seem to care too much about it. I've experienced a couple 2-hour lunches which have been rough. Maybe give it a try...but expect to wait a lot. read more

Not one to eat at a golf course, but a friend recommended going here for dinner. Made a reservation through Open Table(good idea to do) especially nowadays and the walk ups that o did see come. Sat down to a great view and the menus were not present, but instead on a RF scanner app. Friend did not see the second page of the menu until I showed him. Live music (ambience enhancer?). Weather was fantastic as we ordered our meals. Appetizer of steak and cheese egg rolls. Menu is diverse, but not overly. Friend had the baked haddock and I had the turkey tips. The tips are not dry, good portion size. The sides are quite easy, brown rice, white rice, broccoli, roasted potatoes). Waitstaff was busy keeping their tables in busing and bringing out orders. The only good thing about Grill on the Hill is the view. We wanted to try a new place for my daughter's 16th birthday. We had a reservation for 7:00. We arrived in time and were seated st a table meant for 2 people. There were 4 of us crammed in a very small table. After over a 40 minute wait for our food, we asked the waitress where are food was. She kept saying 5 more minutes. 20 minutes later the food came out. My daughter's chicken sandwich was was burnt, all the food was over salted. Add that our waitress was awful! No apology for the very late food, and it was obvious it was her fault as she forgot to put our order in!! A chain restaurant like Olive Garden is much better than this place! This is a review of a bridal shower for about 20 held at Grill on the Hill. I wish I could review the food separately from the staff because the staff was lovely. The food, however, was a huge disappointment. All of the protein--salmon, beef, and chicken--was dry and overcooked. The braised short rib was all gristle. The roasted potatoes were black--they looked like someone forgot them on the stove. Despite being burnt they still managed to be soggy. They didn't have any cream for the coffee. The salad, vegetable plate, and cheese were the highlights of the meal. I asked to speak to a manager but none were available. Immediately after the shower the attendees all went out for pizza. That should tell you all you need to know about the food served. read more

Great spot to enjoy the outside deck with a wonderful, serene and peaceful view of beautiful Green Hill Park. This is the 19th hole of the City's Municipal Golf Course. The public and private (banquet) areas are cozy and unpretentious. It is clean and up to date due to recent modernizations by the City. Service can be a challenge at times, (slow due to understaffing or peak demand), but this has never been an obstacle to my having an enjoyable time on the deck overlooking the pond - sometimes listening to live music - and reveling in this hidden urban oasis. read more

Had a baby shower here. The views are very nice from the porch and the function room. The AC worked very well for the 90 degree day. The tables and chairs were set up nicely. The fireplace is such a nice focal point in the room. Very pretty when decorated. Bathrooms were clean. Nice breezes from porch. The cons: they cancelled my original shower date because they said the Worcester Councilmen bumped my date. I was left with Mother's Day or Memorial Day weekend to pick dates from which aren't ideal. It was too late to book elsewhere due to the last minute cancellation. The blinds above the the buffet line are CAKED in dust. Very unappealing next to the food. I shut the blinds so guests wouldn't have to look at the dust bunnies as they went through the buffet line. The last issue was food missing from the buffet table. They put out deli platters of meats and cheeses, but no bread to make a sandwich. Also, they forgot pasta to go along with chicken marsala. What waitress wouldn't notice this? I noticed it right away as I was going through the line. Very embarrassing. The table just looked empty. My dad did speak with the waitstaff and the missing items were eventually brought out, but people had already finished eating. Also, dishes were cleared too early with the silverware being taken too soon. No other forks or spoons out to replace. The food was tasty, but very odd waitstaff and service. My sister regrets booking her wedding shower here for later in the year. She will be retracting the down payment and search elsewhere. read more

One star for the view It's simple, not enough staff for a busy Friday night, a function going on, and golfers coming off the golf course. We asked the server 3x for water, she finally brought it to the table. Wait for food was l o n g...and it was just not our table...this was not good.The wait for the quality of food was a slap in the face and wallet. Lastly food. Food was not good.Buffalo chicken dip seemed like it has been frozen with not enough chips, my caesar salad was ok nothing special, the pear salad , the person in our party who ordered it said it was good, BUT the worst was the tuna melt in which the cheese wasnt melted and came cold, the onion rings were dark like they were fried in old oil at the bottom of the fryer. Soda machine takes my $2 and no soda, no change. you wanted the contract to serve food at the course, you got it. its a golf course not a wedding venue. I attended a function at Grill on the Hill this weekend. Their function room was beautiful and fit 50 people very comfortably. The room was nicely set up when we got there early to decorate. The function staff was cordial and greeted all the guests. There was beautiful veggie & fruit tray out for when the guests arrived and, chicken marsala and steak tips for dinner. We found out the day of the function that new owners had just taken over as of the first of the year. Everyone had a great time, the food tasted wonderful, and the bar had many different offerings to fit everyone's tastes. My husband and I will definitely be going for dinner once they are open for golf season! read more

Amazing views, the food was great and the head cook/Gm was very nice and even comped me a meal. The wait staff was great very pretty girls and the bartender mike was the nicest man I've ever met. Great waitstaff and great place to grab a meal. They offer an assortment of drinks and accommodate your needs promptly. Beautiful view and an even better place to have your next event. New management has taken over and made enormous improvements. This is a great place to listen to live music, have date night, watch the sunset, have a group dinner, bring the family, just grab drinks, grab a to go meal with your pup, or anything under the sun! Poor service, nice location! Me and my friends wanted to go somewhere outside for lunch today because it was nice out and decided on this place. The view of the golf course and the outdoor seating deck was nice. Other than that it was a miss. When we were seated, my friend specifically asked for a drink menu and the waitress started listing off iced tea, coke, lemonade and such..... like no we want a DRINK menu. The menu looked pretty good. It took a very long time for the waitress to take our order, and then it took FOREVER to receive our food. I mean it was great catching up with my friends for so long but come on.. None of the food was that complicated so I do not know why it took so long, my two friends ordered salads, which they were both unimpressed with, it was not what they were expecting. I ordered a sandwich that ended up being a wrap....all in all kind of a disappointment. read more

Chicken tenders were excellent. Pear salad was excellent. Ordered a plain burger. The chef accidentally put cheese on it and decided to scrape it off instead of firing up a new one... Not going to fly with me. Waited 10 minutes for ketchup for a burger I wasn't going to eat. If you bring your family don't sit near the bar. Drunk & loud golfers dropping F bombs every 2 seconds. I'm OK with the swearing but definitely not a place you want to sit by with your family. BTW, be careful pulling into the entrance... almost got hit by someone leaving that barely stopped his car (I had the right of way). I'm sure he was probably unde the influence. read more

So weird that there are no reviews for Grill on the Hill... This place has become somewhat of a weekly lunch spot for myself and my coworkers. Even if the food was horrible would probably still end up here on a regular basis for the Stellar patio seating and views. Surprisingly, the food is delicious too. The menu has somewhat of a Greek influence and whoever is cooking in the kitchen has a good attention to detail. I've had their Greek meze platter and was genuinely impressed by the freshness of all the components. During my last visit I ordered a Greek salad with salmon, everything was delicious except I ended up with very little dressing and it seemed like it was balsamic glaze instead of actual balsamic vinegar... it also take forever to get the waitress's attention to get more dressing. My big complaint would be that service can be somewhat curt, we usually have the same waitress and it off of feels like she would rather be someplace else... the details that seem to be off feel like they are the responsibilities of front of the house staff rather than mistakes made in the kitchen (ex: a delicious salad with weird dressing). Also I really hate that they serve iced tea and sodas in these huge tacky plastic tumblers... takes away from the sophistication of the rest of the experience... but I'm probably just really sad that I can never have a beer since I'm on my lunch hour. There are advertisements for live music on the weekend and it seems like a great spot to watch the sunset. I'm definitely looking forward to coming here in the evening and actually having a drink on the patio. read more

Hosted a bridal shower in the bright and cheery function room. We were a little concerned because of a change in management since we booked last year. However there so no need to be concerned. We had a great experience! The management and wait staff were professional friendly attentive helpful and accommodating and the buffet was delicious. Very sketchy billing here. Their menu itself states "all food/drink are subject to a 7% sales tax and a 20% gratuity/administrative fee". They tell you one price and then bump it up almost 30% with fine print garbage. This isn't an honest way to price food in a restaurant. read more
