As a long time regular, I just wanted to take a moment to give a shoutout to the new manager -- she's fantastic! Friendly, and welcoming, she brings such a great vibe to the restaurant. First time visitor and I will not be back. Food, service and noise level, even on the outside patio, made for a very unpleasant evening. We were relieved to get home after. Live music was inside only which made inside very loud. It was also very cold on a hot day. After requesting a change of table to outside, We were seated on the outdoor patio. I don't know how it's possible, but it was even louder outside, even when half the people left the patio. It was still unbearably loud and we had to yell to hear each other. It took a long time for the food to come out. Steak tips were ordered medium and came out well done. No pink inside. the food was flavorless (steak tips caesar salad & lobster roll). Portions were large. Salad was dry. We kept waiting for the server to come to our table, but she never did. We took two bites of our food and couldn't stand the noise level anymore. We walked into the restaurant to search for a server to ask for to go boxes and dressing for the salad so we could get out of there. it was so unpleasant. There is a much better alternative at a golf course in Northbridge where they have great live music outdoors on the patio and there's no issue with the noise level and the food is so flavorful and reasonably priced with very attentive service. First time visitor, would not recommend at all. We arrived at 5pm and were the only people in the dining room. We ordered 2 chicken sandwiches and steak tips. Multiple tables arrived 20+ mins after us and all received their food before us. It had been 50 minutes and all our waitresses other tables food had come out so we nicely asked her about our food, she said it was coming out now. 10 mins later our food arrived, with a "kitchen has been backed up." No apology or empathy. My husband's medium rare steak tips were well done and my son's buffalo chicken sandwich had no buffalo sauce on it. We didn't mention it because at that point, it didn't matter. We understand COVID has been hard on everyone, but good customer service would have gone a long way here. We won't be back. read more

It was a Tuesday night and where we planned to go was closed. It's a golf course bar and restaurant. The Hostess greeted us and we chose to go to the bar. We were immediately greeted and given drink and food menus. Service was professional and efficient and here's the important part: the food was good. We had the rib eye, cooked as requested and very good meat, the Salmon, in pumpkin risotto, was great. We tried the S'More kabobs for dessert...we couldn't imagine a S'more on a stick...it was "OK" but needs some work! The golf course restaurant has great food options, great drinks, is very reasonably priced and the patio has a lovely view. The fried pickles, onion strings, burger, salad (white balsamic is a fantastic dressing!) and chicken sandwich are all delicious. The steak tips have potential, but after ordering them twice, I still haven't gotten them the temperature I ordered. I mean does this look medium rare? It's well done! That's a huge and very disappointing difference, and if these were actually medium rare they would've been quite tasty. Unfortunately this was takeout so I couldn't passive aggressively line them up on my plate to illustrate how overcooked these were. I'll try once more, but they might be getting a meat thermometer from a secret Santa. read more

Went with 3 others after a HOT day of golf..... 2 weeks ago. Entered the club house around 4, sat at the bar with about 10 ppl already there. It was not much cooler inside then out... after 10 minutes the Bartender came over and cleaned up the glasses and dishes from the previous people. she came back with that same i don't give 2 craps attitude for our drink orders. 2 cosmopolitans and 2 beers. I asked for a menu and it was like i asked for her to bare my children....... we finally ordered 35 minutes after sitting down. A Rueben, chicken tenders, Steak and Cheese sub and a chicken ceasar salad wrap. once we received..... i could immediately tell that we were going to have a problem. the corned beef that was sticking out of the bread was ALL FAT... my friend's chicken tenders were so over cooked and dry that she needed a steak knife to cut, and the steak and cheese was so greasy that a napkin was needed to sop it up. with one bite of my sandwich and 1 bite of the chicken tender, we called for MISS ATTITUDE. we told her about the Rueben and the chicken fingers and she asked if we wanted something else we both said no, explaining why and said she could take both dinners back and tell the kitchen. She did not ask if we wanted another drink, and just brought the bill over to my husband. he politely opened his wallet and paid the check. i asked to see it while she was running his card and she did not take either one of the meals off of the bill. i asked her to come over and asked if she meant to take any of the food off of the bill and she said NO. Went here on a Saturday evening with my husband and daughter. They gave us a choice of seating : indoor, bar or outside. We sat inside. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. I can't say enough how good the food is. My husband got the seafood platter and asked for the fish to be extra crispy. It was perfect. My daughter got the lobster Mac and cheese The amount of lobster was unbelievable. I got the Tomahawk pork chop. Cooked perfectly and juicy. I would highly recommended this Resturant. This is a hidden gem in Grafton. I went here with my bf and sat at the bar. The drinks were good and the price of food was even better. The mushroom truffle pizza is to die for. My bf got an Italian trio that had a mound of food and I got a panini that came with a mound of fries. We took my parents back there and we had 5 people in our party. We all had food and drinks and only a $100 bill of food. Service is a little slow but it's worth the wait and the view. read more

We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and met by a friendly hostess who escorted us to a small dining area overlooking the golf course and patio dining area. We started with spinach and artichoke dip which was excellent (but perhaps needed a bit more salt) I opted for the lobster Cobb salad and my girlfriend went for the shrimp scampi. Both dishes were creative, flavorful and well executed. Service was courteous and attentive and the price was reasonable. My only complaint was that by 8pm the small dining area had become quite busy and the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation with my lovely date. I'm not sure why this place has such a high Yelp rating. The food is not good. Not awful, but it's certainly not good at all. I had a "pulled pork" quesadilla that was a swampy mix of cheese and bbq sauce. The burger was cooked well-done even though it was ordered medium. The patrons get stupid drunk and obnoxious. This place has beautiful scenery with all the well-manicured landscaping and the golf course greens around. It looks a lot classier than I look, that's for sure. We had a chicken caesar salad, which was a good size. We also had barbeque wings and buffalo wings, both of which were excellent. The service was great too. You can eat outside, which is lovely, or inside. We went for a relaxing walk around the whole area after dinner. We really enjoyed our entire experience and we plan to go back. read more

Went tonight for my birthday. We were looking for somewhere close to our house and found this place in yelp. Turns out it is five minutes from where we live! Food was good. Service was great especially from Tony the manager. He told us about all the events they are adding and made me an awesome birthday dessert drink as we were finishing up dinner. Ok so this is an update to the review !!! My husband and I went back to eat Saturday.....my husband had a bison burger infused with pork belly (I think) it was something porkalicious...that's what it was. My husband reluctantly gave me a bite and I no longer wanted my lobster roll...which was delicious...but the burger was heaven. I also had fries...now real foodies will understand that all burger and FRIES...are not created equally...,I think I had the best Cheese fries I've ever had in MY LIFE!!! I'm not kidding. This has to be the best 19th hole on the Planet...ladies...if you don't play golf...just ride in the golf cart with your husband and just look forward to the 19th hole and you will be rewarded to that Ice Cold beer /wine and CHEESE FRIES. This place is just CLASSY!!!!great service friendly atmosphere and a beautiful view!!!! One other thing ...I noticed a few people spoke of the noise..listen ...these are guys and girls who were playing golf all day and settling down with drinks. The only reason I give this restaurant 1 star is because of our server. Our server was cheerful and attentive. We arrived at 5:00pm on a saturday night for an early dinner. The noise level was extreme! The golf members were swearing, hooting, hollering and extremely intoxicated. Not an enjoyable experience! We ordered fish & chips and baked haddock. I had eaten here about 4 years ago and the food was okay. I ate dinner here last week and the food was amazing! There is a bar area with TVs where a lot of golfers hang out as well as quieter rooms with just dining tables. I had the onion strings and the jambalaya. This is one of our go-to restaurants in Grafton. The food is pretty good; actually, it has improved quite a bit over the years. We often sit on the patio, which is great when we dine with our young children. A few times we've been seated near golfing parties that may be talking loud and with perhaps not the best language, but we know this when we choose to dine at a golf course. We've also sat in the bar area during a trivia night and my kids had a blast. Food is reasonably priced for what you get. Servers are friendly and great with the kids. Fantastic fish and chips!! Light, crisp coating and the fries were perfectly seasoned. I would have given it 5 stars but here's the problem....it's too loud in the small dining area!! Recently we were with a group of 10 adults in the Grafton, MA area looking to eat locally. We opted to try the John Henry Tavern at the Highfields Country Club in Grafton and reservations were made the previous evening. We arrived at 7pm and much to our glee we were escorted to a room adjacent to the bar area that had a private feel overlooking the 18th green. We were immediately greeted by a server who took our drink orders (and an eclectic drink order it was!.....Hendricks Gin, Pinot Noir, and other various top shelf drinks). We were immediately impressed with the wide variety of beverages! We proceeded to order appetizers and I must confess I was taken aback by the Southern Fried pickles (I never thought I would eat fried pickles again after a business trip in Texas). The John Henry Tavern version was delicious and I'm certain the fried pickles would pass muster from a hearty Texan! Many of us ordered the steak tips for our entrée and we were not disappointed. Awesome! Cooked to perfection with a wonderful seasoning! All the while, the wait staff and manager were extremely attentive to our needs (i.e. very customer-service oriented!). All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and drink and more importantly, the wonderful setting and ambiance at the Highfields Country Club.
