This place is really good. It was suggested to me by a self proclaimed foodie who has a son in the culinary industry. So I figured I couldn't go wrong. I'm staying up on the hill at the Vida. So it's a 28 min walk from there. All downhill one way. All uphill the next. It's a Tuesday night and they were packed at 6pm. I'm here by myself so I was able to grab a spot at the bar. Easily found one and got a menu quickly. It was loud when I walked in but surprisingly quiet on the opposite side of the bar. I told the bar tender I was caught between two dishes and she helped me pick. The Turkey BLT. I also got the crispy Broccoli because it looked like something I couldn't just get anywhere. Both were great choices but a ton of food. The broccoli was super sweet with a little wasabi after kick. The turkey BLT was thick cut turkey breast not overshadowed by the bacon. A lot of times a BLT is just assuming that you just want a bacon sandwich. Not this one. I'm not supposed to have bacon so I have to remove it. It's a shame when I'm out traveling I don't get to share these experiences with my wife. I'd love for her to try this place. read more

Lots of indoor seating with lots of windows and sports TVs. Kind of a rustic/industrial feel. There's an upstairs section too, but it's only open from Thursdays to Sundays. Got the Mercantile burger and the Smashburger, both were decent. Our server was very nice and attentive. Myself, my husband and three other friends got seated quicker than we were told the wait time was. we had just decided to give this restaurant a try after seeing a baseball game in this area. We had good service also by our server, Xavier and he did a nice job with giving us good food suggestions as well as making sure we had everything we needed during our meals. The food came to our table hot and in big portions. There were many big screen televisions from the bar area diagonal to the booth seats we were in and the atmosphere looked very industrial with lots of hanging lights around us. The lights were dimmed as the sun disappeared and so we had to resort to flashlight setting on our phones to read the menu clearly. The windows were open to let in the fresh air and the parking is only on the street at this location. They give you the option here to eat inside or on the porch and the restaurant is two floors as well so you can relax with your choice of pizza, sandwiches or other choices. I went here about a month ago and absolutely loved the vibes of this place. Super fun, lively environment, and my waitress was really nice and social. I got the fish tacos and the summer rose sangria - the fish was cooked just right (not over or undercooked), and the sangria added a nice sweet touch. Really nice place in downtown Worcester. Great ambiance and atmosphere... Huge square bar with TONS of huge flat screens... drinks are AMAZING! Bartenders were great! Fast and efficient with a full bar- quite impressive! Staff was great too- everyone whom we interacted with was wonderful! We all ordered the pear drink & it was absolutely delicious and strong!! Well worth the money! The nacho's were probably the best nachos I've ever had! It was 4 of us and we had MORE than enough. Perfect portion size! I got the Burro Bowl which I would rate as Good, but not the best I ever had. They definitely use high quality ingredients. I was in the area for work and placed a to-go order of the salmon, but I swapped out the fried rice for white instead. while I can't speak too much on the service since I didn't stay, the food was super delish. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a little crispness on the bottom, the green beans were so good and tender without being mushy. Went to the Mercantile last night for dinner before the game. We sat up on the rooftop area outside since it was such a nice evening. My friend ordered a half dozen oysters to start things off since they were a special of $1 a piece. He ended up getting another half dozen! And I actually tried one..... not bad! I had the Cajun chicken pasta and it was delicious. We got there pretty early.... Ahead of the work crowd but the service was kind of slow. Our server was friendly but not really attentive. I will go back as next time I want to try the pizza. read more

Great place to go if you are looking for a bar atmosphere. They have a huge bar area, and the space is really nice. The menu has some unique items on it. We came for a group dinner and were treated as though we were bothering them - there were only 7 of us and we had made a reservation. After we finished the Van Gogh Experience at the Mercantile Center which is adjacent to The Mercantile restaurant, we quickly walked over for an early dinner. This was our first visit here, and we weren't sure what to expect on Valentine's day. The hostess greeted us promptly, and politely directed us to the bar since we didn't have a reservation. It was quiet and there were ample seats available at the large bar. Within seconds of our arrival, one of the bar tenders cheerfully brought us menus and silverware. Within a few minutes we ordered: Mercantile Burger(Medium Rare) WHITE CHEDDAR, LETTUCE, TOMATO. $17 Chicken Milanese CRISPY CHICKEN BREAST, LEMON, BABY ARUGULA, PECORINO, PICKLED SHALLOT. $24 Our order arrived promptly within 10 or 15 minutes, and the food looked good. The burger was nicely cooked, medium rare, juicy and thick. And the fries were hot and crispy. I'd be happy to have this dish again. The Chicken Milanese with arugula was very tasty, if not a tad dry. If this dish came with some sauce, it would be very good. I might not order this upon a return visit. Overall, the food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the venue was very nice, boasting a contemporary but casual feel. I'd be happy to return, though I bet this place gets very busy on Friday or Saturday night. The best salad I have had in a while! First time here and I already can't wait to go back. Great variety of food. Service was good, I was with a big party and staff were accommodating and attentive. SUCH a great place for lunch in Worcester!!! Great drinks, appetizers, and food all around! My girlfriend and I came here for a day, started off with some lemon waters and Buffalo saucy wings. So good! The bleu cheese dressing was so delicious and the wings were great as well, though I wish they were a bit crispier! Perfect amount of sauce, however. For the main course we each ordered a Mercantile burger-- which was DELICIOUS! One of the best burgers I've ever had in MA. The meat was so delicious, and the toppings were even better. for $240 we made a reservation for the roof top. we were seated at what seemed to be a flimsy card table that wobbled when you moved, staring at a brick wall not the view of down town. the food wasn't all that great for $240 for 5 people. my chicken was three times the size of the bun I ordered the Buffalo CBR, there was a small sizzle of what I think they are calling buffalo sauce but I couldn't taste it at all, all chicken!!! This is my second year spending NYE weekend in Worcester. The Mercantile was our saving grace after driving down from Boston and for some reason no food places are still serving after 10pm! I wish I could give higher than 5 stars for this review. Our server Xavier was a pleasure. He was personable and great for recommendations and answering our questions as a non locals. We ordered all of the IPAs on tap and recommended which order to have them in which was fantastic, as we ended with the most hazy. The Mercantile was the only place still serving food so we stopped in and I was impressed how good the pizza was. The margherita pizza was delicious just needed a tiny bit more basil. The white pie was a great combination of cheeses and fresh garlic that really packed a punch. The dough was light and fluffy where the crust was soo good to eat. My only complaint was that finding this spot was a little confusion coming from our directions and the maps said it was located in the center of the parking garage when it is actually on the outside of the garage. The interior of the restaurant had nice lofted industrial ceilings and a cozy bar feel to it with all the lovely Christmas decorations. read more

Been here a few times. Overall it's a nice place, it's like a sports bar meets fine-ish dining. Service, every time I've gone, always quick and polite. Even listened to us when we said we were in a hurry. As for the food... eh. I will say the small bites and starters were good. The bang bang shrimp and crispy broccoli were awesome. The main course, kinda lousy. One time I got the birria grilled cheese, it was 90% bread and onions, had trouble finding the cheese. Least favorite grilled cheese I've ever gotten, including when I've burned my own. Another time I went for the Mac and cheese. Basically it was like cheap veleveeta cheese that was slowly turning back into a brick. So either I just got there on a few bad days or they're not good with dishes that involve cheese. read more

We nearly left then but decided to shake it off and try it anyway. She ordered the lobster roll and salad. We went for a quick dinner ahead of a show at the Hanover Theatre. It's an easy 10 minute walk, and it was a good choice for a pre-theatre meal. We were there on a Sunday night, football was on and the bar was crowded, but not obnoxiously so, just a good mix of people having a good time. Service was quick and attentive, and everyone was very friendly. There were three of us. I had the creamy burrata chop salad with steak tips, friend one had the Apple Kale Crunch Salad with Chicken, and friend two had the Buffalo CBR. Standard bar fare, but nice portions, not ridiculously expensive, and the food was decent. Would definitely recommend for a casual night out. If I find myself in the area again, we'll be back! Been here twice so far and it's easily one of the busiest spots I've seen. The Cajun chicken rigatoni on my first visit was great--full of flavor and well executed. The second time I tried the steak tips, which were good but a bit mid compared to the pasta. My friends and I came tonight to watch the World Cup match between USA and Belgium and had the worst experience. Not only was the food subpar, but the margarita towers are absolutely crap. As we were walking out we encountered racism and NOT ONE SINGLE person stepped in to say anything. I was walking out past the bar and some guy grabbed my arm telling me to tell some guy that wasn't even in our friend group to take his US jersey off. I kept walking. As my friend walked by he repeats himself - my friend clarifying that we aren't part of their group. Immediately this man says in an attempt of a Japanese accent, "Oh...GO JAPAN!". We are Vietnamese. I'm at the top of the stairs by the entrance at that point and turn around to tell him to "Shut up with ur racist self". Still not one single person stepped in. Not the manager, not one single staff - no one. Even after my friend says "wrong country, man". I'm disappointed in how this was handled by all staff. The lack of humanity, kindness, and care for locals who used to support this place is unreal. Never coming back and I urge you to think twice before stepping into an environment like this. read more

My boyfriend and I came here after a long day and were famished and excited to get some (usually) great food from mercantile. We had been here multiple times and had quality food & service. Unfortunately, this time, we were very unhappy with our experience. My boyfriend's pepperoni pizza was drowning in grease/oil and it was served room temp. My fries were mushy and oily. The server was exceptionally unpleasant. She forgot our silverware and when we asked her for two sets of forks and spoons, she told us she had other tables to tend to first then she would get our silverware. This took her 15 minutes as our food was sitting in front of us. Her demeanor also changed when she realized we weren't ordering any alcohol. This is very unfortunate as we had frequented the mercantile, but after this time we will not be returning. Better off going to tavern in the square. read more

Our waiter was nice but not particularly attentive - it probably took him 15 minutes to get back to us after we asked for a few more minutes. Our food arrived after 25 minutes, which seemed excessive for that time of day. I had a Caesar salad with crispy chicken - the chicken was dry and cold - like it had been reheated. The Mercantile is a restaurant I've seen many friends/family rave about. Food wise it didn't hit the mark for me. For starters it was pretty easy to make a reservation on open table. As soon as we entered we were immediately greeted and led to our booth. Our waiter was very pleasant and checked on us multiple times which we appreciated. For my drink, I ordered the perfect pear which had vodka as the main spirit, infused with a pear liqueur which actually tasted very fresh and sweet. I ordered the boom boom shrimp as an appetizer which I appreciated the jumbo size shrimp, however perhaps I was expecting a more sweet chili like sauce pairing but the remoulade didn't really complement it as well. For my meal I ordered a Caesar salad with the steak bites (medium). The meat was not really seasoned, I utilized salt, pepper and our waiter offered steak sauce which I appreciated as well. If I were to return again, I'd probably try the pizza or fries. read more
