The pizza was great! Not good but actually great. Cooked perfectly. Just the right amount of sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese. Why 2 stars? First, They use cloth tablecloths and do NOT change them after every diner. GROSS! They will use a scraper to "clean" off the table cloths if they will pass. I saw that happen on 2 separate tables. Second, when they were setting up a 6 person double table where they replaced the tablecloth the hostess put the wine glasses upside down on the windowsill, GROSS, and after the table was ready put the wine glasses on each place setting ready to go. Third, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. No issue there at all. Then waited over an hour for a 18 inch cheese pie. Train your employees to keep it correctly clean and speed things up a lot and you have one of the very best pizzas you can get anywhere. read more

We love this pizza! I highly recommend mixing the pesto and marinara mix for the sauce if you like pesto. My wife and I took a road trip from Chicago to visit our favorite pizza place. Been to their other locations in Las Vegas, Scottsdale, LA, etc. Our servers at the bar, Val and I can't remember the other girls' name, were both very friendly and attentive. We went here on Sunday for dinner. It was frustrating that you can't reserve a table or get on a wait list. It turns out getting a table isn't the issue. After ordering our food it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for them to make a 12 pizza. We were just standing up to walk out when our pizza finally came. There seemed to be lots of fooling around in the kitchen but the bigger item was that it seemed like take out orders were the only thing being completed and when there was some time they'd make a pizza for a guest sitting on a wood chair for over an hour. Hello, We've been to the original in NY which was one of the best pies we had ever eaten. So, with much anticipation we headed out to eat at the new one in Brookfield. Well, it was a disappointment, a poor imitation of the original. The crust was pretty good and the cheese you could tell was fresh of course. However, the sauce was weak, thin and far too young. There was no depth to the flavor at all. The sauce is really key and they dropped the ball here. (I am an owner of a successful restaurant that serves pizza and other items. I know how important the sauce should be.) I got the impression that the sauce was not cooked. It tasted like they just scooped it out of a number nine can and spread it on the za. But this is what happens when an investment group buys out an icon of NYC pizza. Now, they have outlets all over the place and profit takes precedence over quality. A shame really. I won't go back only because I know bettter. Those of you who are not familiar with really good NY pizza will still enjoy it but it is NOT a good version of NY style pizza, sorry. And, it certainly is not a Grimaldi pizza. That is too bad because the original was world-class. We are from the East Coast, so in the 20 years that we've lived here in the Midwest we've not found any pizza that we truly enjoy. Grimaldi's is an exception to that rule. Once it became established at the Corners of Brookfield it quickly became our family's favorite place to eat. We have made a monthly habit of visiting this establishment and enjoying their delicious pizza. My entire family loves it. It takes a little longer to get than a traditional pizza due to the way that it is cooked in the Coal brick oven, but it is worth the wait! read more

Grimaldi's is a New York-based pizza chain with over 45 restaurants nationally that advertises coal brick-oven baking. Located here in trendy "The Corners" off west Bluemound in Brookfield, the relatively new venue attracts supportive crowds of shoppers and locals. As a group of six pizza lovers who regularly rate Milwaukee's Best Pizza on Yelp we were eager to try Grimaldi's. Summer indoor and outdoor seating was inviting and the "glass-caged pizza throwers" were fun to watch. We ordered three pizzas, an 18 inch cheese and sausage, a 16 inch Garden style and a 14 inch pepperoni. The positives: Unlike the current American trend that mounds cheese almost to deep-dish levels, Garibaldi's places thin round slices of Mozzarella all over the crust. This is a true Italian or European style and is less caloric and much healthier than most American pizza pies. The crust is very thin, the current local trend. The negatives: The approach of placing the cheese rounds on first, followed by a smattering of ingredients and an occasional dab of sauce leads to a problem. The ingredients slide off the crust when a customer tries to eat the very large slices with knife and fork. There are many toppings (over 20, but no pineapple), and they are placed very sparsely over the cheese rounds. Very few herbs are used so the overall taste is bland. For some reason, the crusts of all three pizzas were done on the bottom, but somewhat raw and rubbery on the top leading to an unsatisfying experience that let the contents slide off if the eater isn't careful. The "coal brick-oven" didn't add anything to the flavor, so the overall rating has to be 2 out of 5. read more

The pizza here is awesome. However, I have a huge issue with your host staff working on April 1st. My friend and I went and walked around while waiting for our table. We came back to stand in the restaurant and wait until we get our table - no big deal we don't mind waiting. All of a sudden I realize that these teenagers are talking about us and staring. I hear one of them go "The know we are talking sh*t about them." Another host lady was actively going back and forth to tell them what we were talking about. Not once did we have anything bad to say about them. Finally got the text for our table and the two people at the stand looked at each other and whispered something with wide eyes. She then threw our menus onto the table and said "Here." I am very disappointed with the level of respect and kindness these workers have for customers. (There were approximately 4 tables in the restaurant at the time). Our waiter was absent most of the time. Grimaldi's is always a solid option. I am gluten free and they have many salads as well as a gluten free pizza. My husband has ordered the pizza and calzones and prefers pizza. It's a small restaurant and pretty loud, but you can always count on a good pizza. Wish they took reservations because we had to wait 90 min for a table. We got seated right away because we put ourselves on the waitlist and then we ordered food the second we got helped because we waited 10 minutes before our waitress arrived. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our 12 inch pizza to arrive. We were there for close to 2 hours and saw our waitress approximately 3 times and our drinks were never refilled. The kale salad with the lemon dressing was great, but we won't go back. The pizza was a very thin crust that was not done evenly and mostly overdone. I checked out some pizzas at other tables as I walked by that looked equally uneven. There was hardly any sauce on the traditional pizza. I know the lore of Grimaldi's although I have never actually eaten at the famous Brooklyn location (or any of the chain locations). The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. The couple next to us had been waiting for 10 minutes with no server (we overheard) and was provided ridiculously attentive service the rest of the night (after they said something), they even got a free dessert. Our server came reasonably quickly, and took our order and brought our drinks. I don't mind a small menu, but I think they could have a few kids options. Unfortunately, my 2 year old doesn't eat pizza and the only thing she could suggest was a sliced baguette. I accepted that, but it came cold and with no butter or oil. I mean? I don't even know... Our pizza came and it was pretty good. I wasn't disappointed exactly but I feel like it lacked something. Great crust and good toppings, just maybe some salt or something missing in the sauce? I didn't think the price was bad comparing the other higher-quality pizzerias around town. The disappointing thing about the experience was that after our pizza was delivered. There was zero attention from our waitress, or anyone else. No one checked back, offered more drinks, or came and cleared our plates until a full 10 minutes after we finished eating. As we did have a now-antsy 2 year old with us, I knew his time was limited and I wanted to get the bill and be ready to leave when needed. Servers were walking by, but it was the situation where they are not making eye contact with anyone.... We tried it out for the first time, and ordered a small Cesar's salad. They advertise wood fired croutons, but this was Dole's Cesar from a bag, albeit with more Parmesan cheese. The croutons were sub-par. The white pizza had a tough crust, one basil leaf in the middle of the pie, so it was rationed, and very salty, so salty that our tongues felt desiccated after two pieces. We were really hoping that it would be better than mall food, but it isn't.
