Met friends at Zaffiro's for dinner, a place they consider one of their favorites. They have always raved about how incredible the pizza is, and I have to agree. This old school, family owned restaurant is very much a neighborhood classic that has stood the test of time. The thin crust is the perfect base for the amazingly tangy Italian sauce. The toppings are generously portioned, and the pizza (available in 12" & 14") is cut into squares, which make it all too easy to eat more! We started with the fried mushrooms and eggplant, which were very generously sized. Our table of four barely made a dent. The breading on both was great, trapping in the heat, flavors and firmness of the veggies. The eggplant especially, which in my experience can be mushy, was excellent. I loved how it was served with lemon wedges. The tartness of the lemon mixed with the zest of the marinara sauce made the eggplant something I could have eaten just by itself. I love Zaffiro's: so many of my friends think only of pizza but the menu is so much more! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are options for dining (room or by and at the bar) and a full bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every time I go, I always think, "They come to take orders or simply check on us the perfect amount"--I know they want to ensure I've got everything I need but they don't feel overbearing (this is regarding servers or the bartender). Second time visiting since moving here and it did not disappoint. It would've been nice if it were cooler inside especially since the smoke/air quality was so bad outside. Also, the pizza itself wasn't even that special since it tasted similar to thin-crust pizza from Pizza Hut or Domino's. On the other hand, the server was friendly. Tops for a thin crust pie in the the most real-deal, traditional Milwaukee bar setting. I was hustling to catch a flight and had the urge to detour for pizza. The Zaffiro team of Kyle at the bar, and host/server Sydney graciously served me a small pepperoni pie which was perfect for solo dining. Also, I had a brief chat w the pizza chef on a previous visit. Kudos to him for the quality of fare! I requested extra crispy and indeed it was. Perfectly done w char on edge and bottom. Bay View is outside the delivery zone we ordered a large, pepperoni pizza and cheese bread for pick up. It was still fairly early for a Friday so they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Plenty of street parking when I got there. I liked the cracker thin crust but think this pizza is probably best eaten right away. The cheese bread didn't appear to have any cheese on it so I think we might have been given regular garlic bread by mistake. The hostesses were also taking the phone orders. One had an ear bud in so I didn't realize she was talking to someone. When I heard her say a total I told her I already paid the other hostess. That's when I she motioned she was on the phone. Zaffiros is our go to special occasion pizza. We love that they offer green olives and that the crust is so cracker thin. Their large pizza is a bit smaller than most and I do wish they had a XL, as one pizza is barely enough for two adults without additional apps. However, the pizza is amazing and never really disappoints. We eat in and take out, both of which are green choices. When you walk into Zaffiro's you walk into a Time Machine! The pizza is cracker crust- we chose a pizza with too many toppings so the crust was a little soft so I suggest less toppings. The cheese bread is what dreams are made of- light big and fluffy. Full of cheese and comes with red sauce to dip. Very disappointed. I used to Love Zaffiros. We are in an air B&B, 11 blocks away. And after ordering, we are called back, and told that they do not deliver to the home that we are in. Holy Smokes! Sadly my visit to the restaurant on June 5th was a big disappointment. I arrived about 10 minutes after my food was due to be ready, i was advised that they were busy, I needed to wait an additional 12 minutes waiting for my fish fry dinner, pepperoni Special and Garlic bread, I live a 3 blocks away and by the time I got home I found that the Pepperoni Special was stone cold and soggy. They forget to put both my side salad and my Italian bread and butter in my order. The saving grace was that My fish and fries were delicious. It's a Milwaukee icon! Parking is not great... It's only street parking so that is my only issue but they can't do anything about it. It's great pizza. Sauce is definitely a 10 because it's got a little zip to it. Toppings are an 8 and crust was an 8 but I did to go so maybe this impacted the crispiness of the crust. Overall price I rate at a 9. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The crust is cracker thin and the ingredients are super high quality and delicious. My favorite appetizer is the fried eggplant, they are shaped sort of like French fries and my friend and I could not stop eating them! Wow!!, I stopped at this place on Saturday night 6/ 27/2026 at 9:50 when I walked in and ran into a friend sitting at the bar. We started talking and then I asked for a bottle of beer. There were at least 10 people at the bar and my friend had a pizza that was just delivered to him that he did not take a bite of yet. The very rude bartender refused my order. Not sure why you would act like such a prick from the get go. I was very taken back by this guy's super negative attitude toward me. Not sure if this guy was the owner but he sure was a poor representation for this business. I Dont think i have ever run into such a completely rude bartender this guy has no business in the bar. So so pizza with unapologetically slow service. Due to 20% mandatory gratuity, we paid $33 for this service. We arrived at 12pm, and (most of) the pizzas didn't arrive until 1pm. At each step - drink orders, drinks dropped off, ordering food- we waited 10-15 min for the waiter to come back to our table. At one point, I had to get up and chase down our server to ask him to come take our order. The guy who clears tables was leaning against the wall and we sat there waiting maybe 10-15 min for him to realize we were done and to clear the plates. If you aren't a fan of super thin crust pizza, this won't be your cup of tea. We started with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. We didn't realize it, but our server brought us the wrong bottle. She realized it before she brought us the bill. The one she brought us was a cheaper bottle and she gave us like $10 off for the mistake, so we didn't really care because the wine we drank was still tasty. We ordered a half salad which was still too big for two people. It didn't taste like any dressing was on the salad so our server brought us a little bowl of dressing and all was good. We ordered the pepperoni special pizza which is the exact setup of virtually every pizza we like ordering so it worked out well. Next time I would get both on the whole pizza (rather than getting sausage on just half). The cheese bread was good, but a little too thick. Also the sauce that came on the side was not good at all. I visited Zaffiro's while in Milwaukee on business after seeing it on the list of Top 100 pizza places in the US. Does it deserve to be on the list? If it was solely based on flavor, the answer is "no", but it is a very unique pizza place. Zaffiro's is known for their thin crust pizza. I grew up on New Haven style pizza, which is very thin, but this pizza is thinner than that to put it in context. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was extremely tasty. The pizza had a generous amount of toppings, really good sauce to cheese ratio, and the crust was super crispy. It was cooked perfectly with the right amount of char and doneness. I personally have never encountered a pizza that thin and able to maintain it's integrity while eating it without some type of fold...that's pretty special. The staff working at the restaurant is phenomenal. Most of them have been there a long time and I love the rapport they have with each other. The regulars were really nice too. Good vibes all around. Rated as the best pizza in Milwaukee, I had to stop by for a pizza review. The dough didn't have much flavor and it was the worst part of the pie. The cheese was outstanding as we are in dairy country! Sauce was a little watery, but had solid flavor. Pepperoni was ok and they loaded it up. Crust: 6 Cheese: 10 Sauce: 6 Toppings: 5 Overall: 6.5 Service was good and the waitress was friendly. Prices were cheap as a large 14" pepperoni pizza was $17.25, garden salad was $4.25, and a PBR was $4. I see why Zaffiro's is rated as the best pizza in Milwaukee and it was decent-good.
