This place is pretty good.. we waited a little longer than we would have liked for a table of 2 on a Thursday night (almost an hour). We ordered the Bruchetta trio - roasted red pepper and ricotta and then the classic bruchetta. The classic was very good. The roasted red peppers were cold, I think it would have been all around better if they were heated up. Overall it looks appetizing but I would not order the bruchetta again. We also ordered the garden pesto pizza which was very good! I would definately order this again. I love the ricotta cheese on the pizza, it makes for a great flavor. Overall the atmosphere was enjoyable and the service was great once we finally were able to sit down at a table and eat. Ordered a pretty basic pizza and salad for my wife and I. Salad was delivered, and then we didn't see our server for an hour. We kept looking at the kitchen area, and basically the entire serving staff was cowering over there while most tables were not getting their food. One couple left and we overheard the waitress appear shocked that someone would leave without telling them before their food was delivered. When I finally went over to ask what was going on, they said they were having problems with the oven, and things were taking longer. A restaurant who properly trains their staff would have had their servers go around to everyone, explain the problem, maybe comp them a dessert. Not here. They just left you wondering what the heck was happening. We finally got our pizza, along with a full bill. After we paid, we were given a $10 off your next visit. Not likely to be used. Basically, this is the restaurant where local Brookfield high school students are forced to work by their parents if they don't work at Kopps, and they charge you extra for your pizza for the privilege. read more

Great pizza! This isn't the typical Milwaukee style pizza. This is the East coast type. They even go so far as to replicate the chemical make up Brooklyn NY water! It's not our go to pizza, but is a special pie when we want something a bit different. People tend to try to compare it with local Milwaukee pizzas. Not the same thing! read more

Despite other negative reviews citing the high prices or service issues, my wife and I decided to give Grimaldi's a try since it's a place we haven't been to before, the food sounded and looked good in pictures we saw, and there aren't any abundance of options in the area. More than five minutes after my wife received her pizza, a waitress stopped at our table and tried to explain that my pizza was delayed because, for whatever reason, orders print on different slips. The explanation made little sense as, from my view of the oven area, many other pizzas were coming out ahead of mine. Even if they are printed on different slips, shouldn't mine have been close in order to my wife's? I tried to get clarification, but she was already on the move. Another few minutes passed when the manager stopped over. He offered up an explanation that the pizza had been made already, but the bottom was too burned to serve. A new pizza was already in the oven and we would be compensated with free desert. That's fine if what he told me was true, but now I had been told conflicting things about the delay so you'd lost my confidence as a customer. Another five or so minutes passed before my pizza finally arrived. Thankfully the end product was as good as pictures made it appear to be. Our waitress cleared the table and asked what desert we wanted. I told her the regular cheesecake was fine. What ensued was far more time than slicing a piece of cheesecake and putting it on a plate should take. When done with our desert, the waitress brought our check as expected. She walked away and I put my card into the check holder, assuming she would be back soon to take it. Instead, she twice walked directly past our table without taking the check and I could see her leaning by the oven area conversing with the pizza makers and other waitresses instead of stopping back. I wanted to like Grimaldi's, even with its high prices. No, a single 12" two topping pizza should never cost $16, but maybe the price would more palatable if the service hadn't sucked so badly. read more

Ordered two pizzas this weekend while some friends were visiting. 2 pies were $70 including tip when ordered. Then got a call saying they were out of prosciutto and wanted to know if we wanted to substitute with something else. Ok, one of their pizzas is a prosciutto and arugula pie. Does that mean they can't fulfill any of those orders? Anyway, I guess a quick run down to the Sendik's in the same plaza to pick up a couple packages of prosciutto was too much to ask of the staff. In summary, the pizza is super-too expensive for what it is (even if it had all he ingredients requested) and I won't be returning. Missed opportunity. read more

Evidently, they sold their name to some damn conglomerate, who has now opened up pizza restaurants in malls around the country. Having some ersatz New York theme, the restaurant in Brookfield is a joke. There is absolutely no authenticity, and the pizza stinks. Literally, the slices are disgusting and me, a pizza lover, couldn't eat it. I hope this chain restaurant goes out of business, and people realize that local restaurants are the way to go. May every conglomerate crash, and let's bring back the small business owner. Grimaldi's chain is the worst of suburban homogeny. Shame on your greed. read more

Food was great! We had a traditional thin crust pizza. A 16" pizza was perfect for 2 people who have built up an appetite. The ambiance was casual but not tacky or immature in my opinion. My only complaint would be that I would have liked a bit more food for what we paid. But all and all this is a great stop in Waukesha if you are looking for a traditional pizzeria. read more

This was my second visit here since it opened in the Brookfield Area. I have seen reviews that wait times and service can be spotty, but we have not experienced this as of yet, as we have only been here for lunch. Remember this is not Pizza Hut dine service, and food will take a bit as it is made to order. You are here for an experience not a quick service meal. Today we ordered the "The Don", with pepperoni, Italian sausage and meat balls. I was little hesitant of meat balls on the pizza, but they were not heavy and really complemented the pizza very well. The crust was crispy but yet still pliable to eat without a a fork and knife, also the coal fired oven crust was awesome. The restaurant environment wants to bring that Brooklyn vibe to it, and there are some nice touches, and the restaurant is laid out rather well so it is not packed with tables. I believe Tim, the bartender and wait staff was assigned to us for both visits. He handled the orders, drinks, cleaned tables and reset the tables without seeming to be overwhelmed, yet he could have used some backup. Good job Tim! This is really good pizza, and it may not replicate exact Brooklyn style pizza, but it will give any thin crust pizza shop in the area a run for their money. However, be forewarned, the pizza comes at a premium price, but you are receiving a dinning experience and a premium product. Enjoy, but expect a little wait as the pizza is made to order and cooked in a coal fired oven. Check them out. read more

So apparently we came in at the worst possible time, stoking the fire time. We were unaware of the very long wait we were in for and was gave no warning. So we ordered our pizza and waited, waited, and waited. Our waitress after 1/2 hour after our initial order told us about how long to expect to wait. She told us some have waited over 2 hours. She explained the pizza would be worth the wait, I highly doubted this. We were offered nothing during our over 1 hour wait. No appetizers, nothing! Pizza came and it was good, not over 1 hour wait good. So during our meal our waitress went home and left us with another waitress, never had that happen before either. So next time I crave a pizza there is a nice place called Marty's pizza down the block with no over an hour wait. Long story short..... tell your customers to expect a long, long, long wait during the stoking of the fire time. I will be back only cause I have a gift card to burn up or I would not be returning. We ended up here by chance as our first option was closed due to a power outage. From the moment we walked in I knew this was where we were supposed to end up for dinner. The atmosphere was just what we really were looking for. The pizza was amazing. Nice thin crust, really good flavor. We got the Margarita and The Don. Their sausage and meatballs on The Don was the best I've ever had. We decided to end our dinner with the Trio Dessert, which was cheesecake (we picked Oreo), tiramisu, and cannoli. Some of the best pizza I have ever had! I've had pizza in the big apple before it felt and tasted like I was in the middle of New York in a little hole in the wall place a little secret tucked away with some of the best pizza in 500 mile radius. As soon as you walk in it feels like the rat pack is performing somewhere, and you could swear frank Sinatra was sitting in the corner booth eating a slice and getting ready to go up and sing a classic. I have now been here for pizza three times. The first time was my worst dining experience in 20 years. Too many issues to mention; all service related. I waited a whole year before trying them again, but then went since I had received a gift card. The second time was actually nice. We sat outside and had good service and nice food - salad and pizza. I thought it was a little pricy for pizza but it tasted good. The third time we went, was at 4 pm today. The hostess asked if we knew about the "stoking of the fire" which I did not. She explained that they need to swap out the coals in the oven between lunch and dinner and that usually takes an hour. That meant that if we ordered or pizza when we sat down, it would not be cooked for an hour. They do offer social hour specials during this time, but they were not enough to entice me to wait for the pizza. We left. read more

Half of the time that you go to Grimaldi's they act like they are doing you a favor to eat at their restaurant. We went at 745pm today and there were several outdoor two top tables ready as we were walking in (and I confirmed after we walked by 15 minutes later after picking up something at a store nearby that they were still available). First, they said it would be 10 minutes since they had no tables outside ready, when we said there were some she said she'd have to check that but then she immediately said "well our pizzas are taking an hour and we are closing in an hour so..." Essentially she cut us off an 1.25 hours before closing even though they had tables. If they are stopping service 1.25 hours prior to closing they really should make the closing time at that time. The food is good but frankly isn't worth the headache of dealing with them. read more

So to be honest... we live on the south side and went to The Corners to check out the new Wahlberg restaurant, but the wait was 10 years long, so we happened upon this pizza joint instead! We waited about 10 or so minutes for our table. The decor is just like a pizza joint - red checkered table cloths, big mirrors, etc. Its pretty cute in there. The menu is limited. They have a few specialty pizzas and then basically build your own... so things can get pretty expensive. We ordered the house salad, garden pesto pizza with sausage, and a cheese and sausage pizza for my daughter. The salad was not good. I imagined the house salad dressing to be like That's Amore or Olive Garden... but it was more like only vinegar and oil. Also... so many red onions... so many...I'm still having nightmares about it :) Pizzas were good! Not our favorite, but decent. The Garden pesto was by far our favorite. As far as the staff goes - everyone was super nice and approachable. Our favorite part about this restaurant was that the woman who sat us offered to give my 2 year old pizza dough to play with. It is one thing to pay more for a quality experience, but this has been taken out of proportion at Grimaldi's. There is no reason to charge $4.25 per soft drink/refill. I would also argue that the pizza is priced too high, but I feel if drink refills were free, it would make it worth a higher pizza price. How about discounted refills or a cost for refills after your 3rd, for example. There are so many ways to make this more reasonable for people and families. It's pretty clear that Grimaldi's doesn't care about customer feedback on pricing from the insane amount of similar reviews on Yelp, considering all the ones from a year or so ago. Additionally, This drink pricing makes you not want to explore appetizers and deserts. It's too bad because the pizza is good, but when you gouge people on soft drinks and refills, that is not acceptable, makes you not respectable as a company, and therefore I will not be returning. I would also add that it is a very long wait (even to get your bill) and the staff does not make it a premier experience. Overall, I would recommend you do not come to Grimaldi's, and instead visit a place that does not gouge you on a product that is probably the lowest cost item to them on the menu. read more

McKenna is an excellent server, very friendly & very attentive, working her way through college, so we usually ask for her table. Gluten free pizza crust is a must for me and theirs is really good, almost a sweet taste to it - we always ask them to bake it extra crispy since it doesn't bake the same way normal crusts do. This is an upscale restaurant with excellent food and the drinks from the bar are outstanding, too. Order whatever toppings you like, it is absolutely delicious. Salads are exceptional too. I was very excited to try this for my birthday. Upon entering, I noticed the lighting. Very cool. We were seated right away but that's where the service went downhill. We received our menu's and then we waited. And waited. Finally getting a drink order in we again waited. Our server came back without our drinks or water that we asked for, to take our food order. Appetizers arrived but again, still no drinks or water. After finishing our appetizer I finally got up to ask the bar for water. This is approximately 30 minutes into our visit now. Waited awhile longer and finally received water but waited another 10 minutes for the cocktails we originally ordered. Then a pizza came. We were halfway finished with it before our other pizza arrived so the other couple had no food of their own while we ate. Of course we offered to share but they are not meat eaters. The pizza was super delicious!! Now I get there are staff shortages but the place was pretty empty and there seemed to be plenty of staff folding napkins and milling around the entrance area. I wouldn't have minded the wait so much but if you're going to be that behind in service at least bring water!!!!! All you have to do is pour it! read more
