Portions here are HUGE! Finally found a place outside of HI that serves meat jun and there were 3 layers of beef in one order. We saw others' orders come out while we were waiting and were impressed with how much protein there was on each plate. The poke had a sauce that we were not a fan of but it was reasonably priced so we didn't feel bad not finishing it.

Grind Wit Tryz was the most satisfying lunch after landing at the Portland airport nearby. Our group is visiting Portland for a snowboarding trip from Houston, TX, and Filipino Hawaiian food was exactly what we were craving. Grind Wit Tryz has MASSIVE portions and just dang good food. You really need to come eat here if you're lucky enough to live nearby. This restaurant would do so well in Houston, TX if y'all are considering another location! As a group of 5, we purposely tried to order just about everything to try on the menu. We loved their ono chicken, spicy ahi poke, meat jun, honey calamansi shrimp, teriyaki beef, and ilocos empanadas. 10/10 would come back here again whenever we're back in Portland, enjoy! Also side note, even if you seen a line here, the service was pretty fast! Please bring a location to Houston, TX!

The food was ok. I was expecting way too much from this place. Our friends from Oregon and the reviews seemed to hype it up. My partner and I got the grilled bbq chicken and the bbq short ribs + marinated beef. Unfortunately, the deep fried chicken was sold out for the day (we came in about 45 minutes until closing so perhaps our fault). I think because of the time we came in- we got kitchen scraps. The short ribs were 90% fat and 10% actual meat. The macaroni salad was incredibly plain, it needed more seasoning - pepper something because it straight up looked it was pasta with slabbed mayo. I will however give a shot out to their poke because I don't eat seafood nor like it and I did give this a try for the fun of it and it was delicious. Again I think because we came in 40-45 minutes before closing closing the service was not great either. I saw the self service bottles of sauce and when I came back I asked the lady for one and she said she had run out when it was pretty clear she was just cleaning up. Fair- you want to get out of there on time. So I asked the lady for hot sauce and she said it was extra and charged me $1.00 per 2.5oz container which is just diabolical in my opinion- I still paid none the less so it's my dusky for contribution to the fiasco. Overall it was mid, I'm used to much more flavorful food in Los Angeles. Ill give it another go whenever I'm in the area at a different time. Perhaps it was a one off day for them.

We drive down from Olympia just because we're craving GWT! As someone born and raised in Hawaii, this is one of few places that hit the spot. We'll make any excuse to come down. The food is always Ono, the portion sizes are huge, and the flavors taste just like home. The staff is always amazing - super friendly. Don't let the long lines scare you, they move pretty fast, and the vibes from the music and decor make the wait easy. Only downside is parking can be a little humbug, but food makes it worth it!

Wanted to try this place for a very long time, finally got the chance today. I so excited. Order the Trio Plate Combo- Kalua pig, chicken katsu and lechon kawali. Wanted to try a bunch of stuff, also got some poke and for dessert the ling hing pineapple cake. Chicken katsu was fried a bit too long, dried out, made good extra crispy chicken fries that need lots of dipping sauce. They do pork well. Kalua pig needed a touch more salt and a bit more smoke. Nice and moist . Lechon kawali was ono, crispy exterior, moist juicy inside. The sides - rice and mac salad, needs a little work. The rice was too wet, Mac salad had too much mayonnaise. The poke - I'll stick to shoyu poke. This one had too much mayo. The ling hing pineapple cake was heavy, maybe if cake flour was use instead stead of all purpose flour would have made it lighter. I looove ling hing mui but I didn't care for this cake. Family must be working here, a little girl was sitting on as well as walking on the service counter. I'm giving two stars for the two good pork items. I wanted to love this place so much after following them for a couple of years on their journey to get a brick and mortar. I wish them well much aloha.

Family favorite eatz! Not local so made the trek when in OR. DELICIOUS!! HUGE portions, enough for 2-3 meals! Everything taste & texture were PERFECT!! Ono Chicken family favorite! Started with Ube & Lilikoi desserts and both AMAZING!! Went back to buy more but they were out of Ube. Quality, Quantity, and Price were all perfect match!!! I'd be broke and 50# heavier if I lived close. Employees SO Hospitable, Aloha vibes all the way! Go tryz it!!

Fabulous poke nachos! Sooooo ono! A little taste of Hawaii in the PNW for real Service is super friendly. Been with these guys since their location in Alberta. The new spot on Cully is a lot more spacious for seating. Parking around the area is street/neighborhood but worth the couple loops to find a spot.

They play the Hawaiian bangers here as you enjoy your food! Playlist on point, staff is nice and helpful. Easy to order at the counter and utensils and napkins on the side near where you pick up the food. The inside smells like oil (don't wear your nice clothes) and floors a little slippery (raining a lot outside or maybe oily??), but overall I enjoyed the vibes. Trio combo: meat Jun, Ono chicken, salmon Katsu. The salmon Katsu was super crunchy on the outside and tender inside. This was so good! Meat Jun was a little string but not too bad. Ono chicken was very tasty and I really enjoyed the sauce on the outside. Comes with two scoops rice and one scoop Mac. The PORTIONS! In love with the portions. When the lid can't close, that's the portion I like. Spicy tuna poke: had really good flavor and enjoyed the sauce and little kick. Fish was a little stringy though. Wish they had chopsticks here too! It doesn't feel right eating plate lunch and poke with a fork for some reason, but that's just me. Overall good portions of food, tasty meats, and good vibes. GWT gives very generous portions! Their food is pretty good too. I've tried their lechon kawali and the only thing I would change is to have it a bit more crispy (but I'm the kind of person that likes my meat dry-ish). I've also had the bbq pork inasal and that's probably my favorite dish there! I tried the pork sisig- it came with two beautiful fried eggs on top it also came with what I think was mayo under the eggs, on top of the sisig. This took away some of the flavor for me, so I'd recommend getting sisig without that cream sauce. Galbi short ribs had the perfect amount of char. I have my own personal preferences, so really, I give Grind Wit Tryz a 4.5. I still highly recommend.

Decided to try this place out again, and I think it's our new go-to spot for Hawaiian! We ordered the poke nachos and it was huge! More than enough for two people. Poke was great but the pork was a bit salty. This time we also ordered the ube cloud too, which was not too sweet, but interesting in texture.

Stopped in to grab a bite. I read the reviews and it was one of the closest restaurants to PDX as I only had a couple hours left before flying out. When I pulled up, I was a bit nervous as this place looks interesting from the outside but once you walk in there's patio seating as well as plenty of indoor seating. I tried their chicken Katsu curry. It was a bit dry and over fried. I would not order that again, but I was surprised by the poke. Nice decent size. It was good. It took a while for me to get my order. It was busy, but I finally went up to ask after 20 minutes to see if my order was ready and it had already been sitting there just waiting for me to be called so I was a bit disappointed. I saw plenty of other food just sitting there waiting to be called to pick up their orders. The restroom was extremely disgusting. I couldn't even use it. The 2nd one was out of order so only one restroom. Staff were just ok. There were quite a few desserts. I wanted to try, but I was already so full.

Grind Wit Tryz serves some of the most authentic and delicious Hawaiian food I have had in a very long time. Everything we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The nachos and the fried musubi were absolutely amazing, and that is saying a lot because I do not like spam at all. Somehow they completely won me over. I was so impressed that my husband and I actually started trying to figure out how we could adjust our commute home from work to pass by this place more often just so we can eat here again. If you are looking for truly excellent Hawaiian food that will surprise you in the best way, this spot is a must try. We will absolutely be back.

I'm very biased when it comes to Hawaiian food because I've had the pleasure to visit the islands almost every year..with that being said..this place is ok. Portion size is huge and 2 people can share. The outdoor space was neat cuz they played jawaiian jamz and gave you that Hawaiian vibes. I think I waited in line to order for 30-40mins and another 30-40mins for our food. It was good and I enjoyed the ono chicken the most but I would not wait that long again. The restaurant seems to be very popular among Pdx locals and is still a must visit (but not if I had to go air 1.5 hrs for food). Btw, I came here around 6pm on Saturday. read more

We were greeted with the most amazing atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, there's reggae music and open patio and beautiful Hawaiian decor within the restaurant. We were immediately excited, and so impressed with the menu. So many options to choose from we wanted to try everything. Of course I had to get a spam musabi that I didn't get a picture of, but it was 10/10. Our food was so filling with leftovers and had so much flavor. HUGE portions of delicious Hawaiian food! I heard raving reviews about this place from my friends so I had to try it. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and decorated with very laid-back, beachy, Hawaiian vibes. Service here is pretty fast, but everything is given out in take-out containers. When my friend and I went, we got two combos: a chicken + galbi combo, and a poke + garlic shrimp combo, as well as inari. Everything was PHENOMENAL. The portions were absolutely huge and by the time we were full, it looked like we barely made a dent in the food. The meat was tender and juicy, while the seafood was very fresh. Loved the inari. Definitely my favorite Hawaiian spot in Portland, and I would love to come back to try some of their other menu items. read more

Portion sizes are huge here, definitely get your moneys worth with each item! The poke nachos were amazing, the fish was tender and great crunch with the wonton chips. The outside seating area had lots of room and the food came out pretty quickly. read more

Upon entering, the island music was playing at an appropriate volume, creating an authentic island atmosphere. However, the establishment could have benefited from being cleaner. This is the best Hawaiian food in Portland!!! I have been here multiple times now and everything I tried was delicious. The staff is always friendly, plenty of indoor and out door seating and they ask that you order at the counter before you find a table to sit down. The place does get busy and they always have tons of to go orders flying out of that place. Everything is packaged in to go containers and even if you're sitting there you're most likely going to need it because they give you some hefty portions. I love left overs. I love they are always playing islander music and the delicious smells of the kitchen as soon as you walk in makes you hungry and happy. In the summer time they sometimes have live musicians and a little market where people are selling local products. I love this place, not just because they have amazing food, but just for the whole expierence. read more

Prior to my Portland Trip, I was just at Big Island, Hawaii. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place. Made me miss the Big Island. My cousin and I ordered the Poke Nachos ($26). It did not disappoint! They packed our nachos and we were both so full. The ahi melted in your mouth and everything just paired so well with one another. We also ordered two sides of Mac salad. The Mac salad was delicious and just the way I like it. I wish I got to try the other dishes they offered since they all looked amazing. I'll have to stop by this place when I'm back in Portland. read more

Was back in town when I stopped by for the first time and it did not disappoint! We got the Hawaiian nachos for $27 but it was well worth it. They packed it! We had 4 people with us and still had a hard time finishing it. I loved the atmosphere cause it felt like I was back in Hawaii, and the cashier was super helpful with any questions we had. The only thing I would have changed is I would've gotten the poke nachos instead of the Hawaiian nachos, only because the pork gets a little bit salty, but it was still delicious! Definitely will be back when I'm back in town! :) read more

Wow, this place is packed for lunch on a Thursday, and rightfully so. Counter-service in a causal setting. All orders are served in to-go containers, which you will need because the portions are enormous. Pork Katsu is juicy and curry is sweet and savory. Garlic shrimp is buttery and a must eat with the shell on. Mac salad is just okay, but good and the rice is great. Each grain separate and not over cooked. Service can be a bit Hawaiian-time, ha, as it's counter and they are doing a big volume but folks are friendly and happy to check on your order. I would recommend calling in, even if you plan to sit. Need to try their nachos with wonton chips, as it looked massive and full of toppings. Definitely a stand out spot, that does each item fresh, with a little something extra. read more

Coming from California, there are a few Hawaiian chain restaurants I am comparing this restaurant to. After trying their food at a local event (Guamanian/Chamorro festival), I decided to give their restaurant a try. My overall impression: -The food was as expected, and they do give a good healthy amount of food, which is great. But my order came out a bit messy. -The atmosphere was not as expected. The restaurant was smokey inside and seems the ventilation was not great on the day of my visit. -The music was loud, and not all islander music (as I'm used to listening to and enjoying at Hawaiian restaurants in California). -There was no Hawaiian Sun drinks which is what I expect from any Hawaiian restaurant. -The service and staff were nice. -The bathrooms ran out of paper towel on the day of my visit. Let me add, the ambiance I experienced may have been a one-off. I still think it's worth it for anyone else to try. read more

Great Hawaiian filipino food spot! Portions were really good with one plate being able to feed two and came with rice and a delicious Mac salad. The ono chicken was juicy and crispy with a tasty sweet glaze and the poke was fresh and delicious with the spicy Mayo sauce. Good service and spacious open air dining. Parking was a bit tough. A lot of people talk about how there's a lot of food. I'm more about the quality. The chicken was overcooked. The teriyaki sauce was too sweet. The kalua pig was bland and there was no cabbage!! I need my greasy cabbage. The Mac salad was not good. Won't be back. read more

OMG, my food was everything! I came from Texas and I was so excited to try this place. I have never had better Hawaiian food this place makes you feel like you're eating in Hawaii. Great music I got to sing along to J boog and Fiji songs while I ate my food. Poke tasted fresh. If I ever decide to visit Portland again, this will be my first stop! Service was great. read more

We visited on a Wednesday evening, ordered to-go at the counter (all ordering is at the counter) after a bit of a wait, unsure why people wait until they are at the counter to even look at the menu. The poke nachos we're good and they give you a lot of tuna, I think it was worth the price. However the plate was mid at best, the chicken were so dry that I had to chew for one full minute before I can swallow and all of the pieces were like that the sauce was good though. The short ribs were overcooked and it was kind of dry as well but not as bad as the chicken. The lechon was tender and soft but I am not sure if the skin supposed to be crunchy or not for this dish but it wasn't. read more

Grindwittryz lives up to the hype with delicious food and massive portions. The honey walnut shrimp wasn't too greasy and had a good level of sweetness. The ono chicken came with an overflowing portion of flavorful and perfectly crispy chicken. However, I was slightly disappointed by the Mac salad, which I found to be too mushy and a bit bland. Overall, I was still impressed and enjoyed that my meal was easily two substantial servings. read more

This is a neighborhood spot that I keep saying I am going to check out but then realize they are closed by the time I want to eat dinner. Last time I tried to stop in at lunch there was a long line, so I left as I had to get back to work. But today, I smartened up and ordered online for pick up ahead of time. I placed my order around 11ish and it said it would be ready at 12:30 and I believe they open at 12. The dishes seem spendy for lunch, but I think every Hawaiian place in Portland is so expect to pay about $18-$26 for an entree. They do smaller orders like the Spicy bombs that are $12. But similar to many of the Hawaiian spots, they give you so much food that it easily feeds 2 people or you can eat lunch and save the rest for dinner like I did. But what sets this place apart is the poke, garlic shrimp, walnut shrimp and korean chicken, which I don't think the other places have. I got the Combo which starts at $22 but they upcharge for certain items. So I added the Poke which had a $2 extra charge and the walnut shrimp. It was sooooooo tasty. I loved the poke which came in a separate container to not mix the hot and cold items, but I dumped it into the box for the photo. The walnut shimp had 8 LARGE prawns (see photos) and was fried to perfection with the sweet coating and walnuts. They add sticky rice under the main entrees and then an extra scoop of sticky rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. I personally did not like their version of macaroni salad as it had too much mayo for me, but not sure if it's always like that. I came back with my family the following day to dine in. I had the garlic shrimp, hubs had combo of ono chicken/beef teriyaki and daughter had the Jun plate. I had the garlic shrimp ($18) that was so delicious and garlicky anf had about 15 HUGE prawns. That is a bargain. They have indoor and the outdoor seating which is cool because inside the air was a smokey and it was a nice day, but unfortunately, outside the picnic tables were kinda filthy. I tried to wipe the table down as beat I could. They also were out of silverware but did have plastic to go utensils. Overall, I think the food is good and the spot is nice but they still need to work out some of their kinks which is probably why they seem to cater to their to go orders. read more

This is my favorite hawaiian spot in Portland and every person I've taken here has agreed. They recently moved locations, the original one off Hawthorne was pretty small but the new spot is very nice and much larger. The portions are huge, I recommend sharing and the price is very reasonable considering the amount and quality of the food. They always have new special items but everything I've tried from here has been amazing. Definitely a must try spot if visiting Portland. read more

The portions here are big!! The poke is incredible and covered in a lot of sauce. I was full after having just half of it and saved some leftovers. The mac salad wasn't my favorite since it tasted a bit bland unfortunately. Second time trying the Hawaiian place as I do have my favorites in (Portland) but this one's a good one to go to every now and then in the portion size at these places are huge, but I always am grateful because they're decent price for the amount of food they give you here And you gotta love Home style Hawaiian food because they love their food just as much as I do. Love the live music and sometimes they even have market events here that they throw sometimes with local vendors. read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy yet. By the time we ordered and waited there was a line almost to the door! We waited soooo long for our food even though there wasn't many people there when we came in and ordered. Figured maybe people ordering to go. We ordered spicy bulgogi and garlic shrimp combo and it was delicious. Very generous with their portions and very spacious seating indoors & out. The food was good , for the mini plate it was $13 but it was well portioned in my opinion for the price point the chicken was fire but the Mac salad was lacking a bit of flavor , the poke nachos were stacked they had to put a rubber band to keep the box together the fish was fresh and sauced up it was a little pricey ($27)but for the amount and flavor I can't complain. This spot was on me and my friends' must try list while visiting Portland, and it absolutely hit the spot after a morning hike. The vibe is laid-back, the menu is simple, and the staff were super friendly. I ordered the Ono Chicken along with a pound of their Ahi Poke. The chicken portion was huge, easily enough to share, and packed with flavor. The poke was good as well. At first, I thought I was at the wrong location based on the previous photos in Yelp, but I realized they had moved. The food was so fresh and the quality was 10/10. They made it fresh to order. The line was pretty long but the service was relentless! They were pushing out meals nonstop. We ended up waiting a little over 30 minutes for our order but the place was packed on Valentine's day when we went. We brought our 3 month old daughter and we were still able to sit down and enjoy our meal comfortably. The music was a bit too loud so everyone was conversing louder to be heard over it. I got the combo with lechon kawali and spicy ahi poke. The poke was good, but the lechon had a really strong smell (maybe from fish sauce?) that I just couldn't eat. It kind of ruined my appetite, so I only ended up eating the poke and rice. The macaroni salad was also undercooked and a bit hard. I waited about 20 minutes to order, so I was really excited, but honestly a little let down. Wow! Just wow! The food was amazing in every way possible. The portion size was so huge (we ordered the Kalbi short ribs, ono chicken and shrimp dynamite). It is on the sweeter side. The mac salad was yummy too. They also had three different pies for dessert and I had to go with the banana cream pie which had a macadamia nut crust. What I really liked was the custard was not super sweet. So GOOD.

Luckily it it is usually just a 5-10 minute wait before we have been seated inside at our table. But once we were seated... then no one came to us, not even a greeting from a server or water service for MORE than 20 minutes, which was insane. No one paid any attention to us, including what turned out to be our server who had been back multiple times to serve the table right next to us! We finally had to get up out of our seats and flagged down the host to let them know that no one has acknowledged us and we don't even have any water! FINALLY our server came to greet us and give us water, and she didn't apologize at all. I honestly expected to get something comped or a freebie or something but she didn't even acknowledge the wait the ignoring. Food took a really long time to come out during this dining experience. I guess overall pro tip: don't dine on a Friday night unless you want slow, terrible service. Such a disappointment regarding the service the last time we dined here. But the food is really delicious!

However, many customers may not read every line of fine print on the menu and may be surprised to see an additional charge added to the bill. In my opinion, employee health-related expenses should be covered by the business rather than passed directly to customers through an extra fee. I would have preferred the menu prices to reflect the actual cost upfront rather than having a separate surcharge added at checkout. Just sharing this so future customers can review their receipts carefully and be aware of the additional fee.

We were all in agreement that some type of dipping sauce would be a nice touch. My suggestion is dulce de leche. We then went to town on the broccoli &! Italian sausage, hash and tagliatelle. When I tell you - I was in food heaven. That tagliatelle was IT. My friends were kind enough to let me finish the rest. I gave way to the other two. Despite being ridiculous full, we still managed to make room for dessert. We got the cookie and lemon pound cake. Bro that pound cake can get it. The mascarpone whip on top made me tingle on the inside after I got a taste. My gawd I wanted to eat the whole thing. First and foremost, the food here is legit. For the money the portions and the taste are great. Their social media is great at showcasing people tagging them in many of the variety's of food they serve. They ask for input about what their customers want. That's all GREAT! The bad part and it's something another customer talked about but maybe he didn't express himself well. The bad part is when they say they're opening late again and again. This has happened countless times in the past month. It's not a good look. I know I'm not the only one that thinks this. People are planning to eat at lunch time then you open late and now it's past their lunch time and they'll have to find another place. Not a big deal right? Yes agreed things do come up and I know nobody wants to work low paying jobs when the government will pay them more staying home on their couch. We appreciate everything you're doing but that doesn't mean you can put someone on blast saying things that are absolutely true. Yea maybe one day things come up and you open late. How many times in the past month have you done this? If I called in sick that many times in a month I'd be fired. Put it that way, you're running a business, just a reality check you need to look the mirror first and get priorities done so you can open up on time. If you can't then just change your hours to what you can handle or just say hey, we don't have any hours. Check our social media page for our hours. When you do have hours you have expectations and when those expectations aren't met by you saying you're opening up late over and over again it's just unprofessional. Then you have time to go on social media and type up a response to some dude named Chad. I'm just stating an opinion that's all. I love you guys, love your food, love everything about it but just like Chad something has to change so you don't look so unprofessional. Be more prepared with what you have on your plate or change something. Saying oh by the way we're opening up late today over and over again is just plain sad. read more

Grind Wit Tryz is VERY hyped up and I can see why. The food is delicious and they definitely do not skimp out on your portions. The amount you get for the price you pay is well worth it but to be honest though, we weren't completely blown away like so many others were. We ordered: - Ono Chicken/Ahi Poke combo plate - Ono Chicken/Kalbi Short Ribs combo plate The Ono chicken is one of their very popular menu items and though it was good, it was a bit underwhelming as it lacked a little flavor and it was a little dry as well. We found ourselves having to dip it in a sauce for more flavor. The Ahi Poke however was bomb. And their kalbi short ribs weren't bad - they were tender and marinated well. I've been waiting for so long to try this place but avoided it for a bit after hearing about their 1+ hour wait time. They recently opened a brick + mortar on Alberta and also recently launched their online ordering. I HIGHLY recommend to stay up to date through their IG: @grindwittryz - more than 90% of the time, they'll get slammed with orders so they'll temporarily disable the online ordering. They'll also post their menu for the day the night before and some items rotate. Definitely will give them another shot to try their poke nachos and other menu items. read more

I am writing this review because I love the spirit of Aloha these young restaurant owners from Oahu and their team provides. The fact they are thriving and doing their absolute best notifying all their beloved customers through social media is awesome. They put in hard work, long hours, tears and sweat to provide the ONOLICOUS GRINDZ that we Hawaiians (locals) grew up too. NO WHERE will you find a nice hefty Ohana size plate at the price Grindzwitrys posts. 1 plate can feed 2-3 people depending on the amount a single person can consume in one sitting. I saw a negative review recently and as a beloved customer I felt attacked. These owners went from going to college to working out of their own home, to van, to getting a lunch wagon to finally owning a restaurant to feed countless of customers for years to be struck by one man who had a bad day. Shame on this person, obviously look at everyone else's review nothing but 4-5 stars because this family is outstanding and truly is the definition of Aloha. Food is decent with portions. The issue is the owners have zero experience running a high volume kitchen and have no respect for their customers or their time! This place constantly opens late or not at all on random days they are supposed to be open. It time they hire a real manager and quit playing little kid games with their restaurant. Update: The owner of this restaurant is a joke. Instead of taking valid criticism about the inconvenience of opening late and changing the hours on the fly.. Trey chose to prove he's nothing but a little boy by trying to blast me on his Instagram and letting his followers personally attack me. Way to show how adult you are bruh! Wow!! We seen this restaurant all over TikTok and Instagram and wanted to try them out! We finally got the chance the head over today for some lunch and they were really busy. We waited for about 30mins, cashier was very helpful with explaining the menu and also recommending couple dishes. We got the Ono chicken/Kalbi combo, hawaiian nachos and the chicken katsu dynamite. Food was packed like a mountain and flavors were amazing! Combo: 5/5 Kalbi was very good! Had excellent flavors and not to overwhelming. Ono chicken (fried chicken in sweet soy sauce) amazing!! Crispy but so juicy Hawaiian nachos: 5/5 Not a fan of Kalua pig in general but eating it with the wonton chips and sauce they put on it paired greatly! Spicy ahi was flavorful and not that spicy. Chicken katsu dynamite: 5/5 saucy galore this dish hit the spot! Chicken katsu was crispy and the two sauces paired greatly with it. Overall, this place is one of my favorites in pdx! Great food and portions are very generous. Newer location following the trend of successful food trucks turned brick and mortar. This restaurant is ran similar to many new restaurants in Portland that their food is authentic, cook to order and limited in portions, meaning they are only open until they sell out and dishes fall off the menu throughout service. Communication is also following a new Portland trend of walk-in/ lineup customers first and online orders second, getting them on the phone is difficult because they are very busy - they do a great job of communicating to the masses on IG. Many people are having a hard time with these new restaurant concepts, if you're needing to be validated go to a chain restaurant that has plenty of frozen food in the back and over staffs (and pays like shit) so your phone calls can be answered. read more

Their Spicy Bomb, a spicy ahi poke, is nothing short of explosive in the best way possible--fresh, and with just the right kick. The Ahi Katsu was also a standout, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. The Spam, egg, and katsu combo was a nostalgic delight, blending comfort food with huge portions. It also had Mac salad and rice that comes with it. The dishes are overall HUGE! The ambience was spacious and clean, featuring comfortable booth seats that make it a great spot for both casual meals and special gatherings. I always wanted to try this food truck out since many of my coworkers at intel would rave about this place. Our first time we went on a Saturday and let me tell you the line was out the gate and we waited about an 1 hour to order food, but the workers were pushing out food very fast. I ordered the garlic shrimp and my boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian nachos which came out to be like $25. Let me tell you this place is no joke, it was worth the wait. The garlic shrimp was so flavorful with the shell on and the Hawaiian nachos was a pile of khalua pig and spicy tuna which couldn't finish. BEST FOOD CART IN PORTLAND! The couple that owns and run the cart are absolutely wonderful. They work hard for the customers and community. When COVID happened they continued to adjust to recommendations making it easier for their customers to keep eating that great food safely. They even offered free meals to service workers, children and the elderly. Grindz doesn't just offer great service but the food is BOMB!!! What can I say BOMB AF! The quality, the portions are out of this world! I ordered the Kalbi/meat jun combo! I finally found a place that sells meat jun in the mainland! And this dish hit the spot! The Kalbi marination was sooooo good and meat was very tender! We also shared a poke nachos and those nachos are to die for!! So fresh so good! It was so easy to order with them- we ordered based on their websites recommendations for our group size, and still had so much leftover- the portions are huge, the quality is fantastic- everyone loved it, especially the ono chicken. I ordered takeout online shortly after they opened. The entrance is near a small gate just north of the building. It was super busy, with street parking available in a rougher area. Service was quick and helpful, though I didn't receive utensils with my order. I tried the Poke Nachos and Short Rib Plate. The chips and tuna were fresh, but I wished for added veggies like cucumber and avocado. I came here for the first time today and I would highly recommend this place! The portions for the food is insane and it's all delicious! I got the spicy pork bulgogi and then a combo plate of ono chicken and kalbi short ribs which did not disappoint. The service was super fast and the servers were super nice and helpful and answered all my questions. I got here 30 min before opening time cuz I knew about the line, and there were already 4 ppl ahead of me. Fridays they serve lechon kawali which is what I came here for and it was WORTH THE WAIT. I love this place, not only for their great food and huge portions, but also for the Filipino variety. Since they opened about 9 min late, they handed out a free water bottle to everyone in line. Being from the islands and moving here to the pdx, I finally found some food that brought me back home! Portions are humongous, I couldn't even finish half of my poke nachos! I loved the ono chicken and meat jun! Ono chicken reminded me of a mitsu-ken fried chicken and meat jun just hit the spot right at home! Love this place. Food is delicious and staff hustle with the heavy demand that they face! Long lines but definitely worth the wait! Also the amount of food that they give per plate can easily be shared between 2 people (but you're gonna want it all for yourself bc it's Just. That. Good.) I'm here at least once a week. got take out from here and it pretty disappointing. was my rice was soggy, the chicken was greasy, and the mac salad was decent but the mayo taste was pretty overpowering. was really excited after seeing this place on instagram! but it didnt quite live up to expectations. they were pretty busy, but felt kind of shrugged off/overlooked when i was paying for the food as well. will give them another shot down the road in their new location. read more
