I came here for breakfast to meet up with friends, and unfortunately this was most likely my first and last visit. When we arrived, we were the second table in the restaurant, so we expected a fairly smooth experience. We ordered our food and drinks, received our drinks, and then waited. About 30 minutes later, only 1 out of our 3 meals arrived. The chilaquiles came out first, while the two croissant sandwiches were still missing. Another 15 minutes later, the second plate arrived. Then we waited nearly an hour from the time we ordered before the final meal was finally served. During the entire wait, no one came to check on our table or provide updates. We had to get up ourselves to ask about our food. When the second plate arrived, there was no communication about the status of the third meal or an explanation for the delay. As an apology, we were offered a chocolate chip cookie that was warm on one side, but there was still no real communication or acknowledgment of the frustration of waiting so long while one person in our group still didn't have their food. The food and drinks themselves were good, but the customer service and overall organization need improvement. The kitchen needs better time management because waiting over an hour for three breakfast meals, especially when the restaurant was nearly empty, is unacceptable. A little communication and attentiveness from the staff would have made a big difference. Restaurant it's self was nice and clean. read more

This spots has great potential to be better. So I came Agave to have breakfast with my dad. My dad noticed the place was lacking in being clean from the moment we walked in to the moment we sat ourselves. We ordered at the counter and that went well. The food was good. They don't have fresh salsa but offered the salsa for the chilaquiles. The green salad was fire. We orders the chilaquiles and huevas divorciados. The coffee is great! Tried Agave Grill & Cafe on H Street in Chula Vista for brunch today and it was a really solid find. The space is super nice -- open, airy, and not cramped at all. I loved that there are different seating areas, so it feels relaxed and not overcrowded. Definitely a spot where you can actually sit and enjoy your food. I ordered the chilaquiles with carnitas and the flavor was so good. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying. Service was great too -- friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Only downside was I asked for over-medium eggs and they came out more well-done/fried, so not quite what I was expecting. Also wish there was a little more carnitas on the plate -- the flavor was there, I just wanted more of it. Brought my family on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only ones there, no orders ahead of us. Our food came out each plate separately, by 5-10 minutes. The last plate being a kids pancake , only after asking where it was. Nobody seemed to care, or interested to help. Food was meh. read more

I've been here with friends at night but mostly in the morning on weekends when I get breakfast. I've only had the skillet and bakery items along with a plain 20 oz. latte with oat milk. The food hasn't missed in terms of quality, taste, and delivery time. If you want, you can ask staff to warm up and deliver a bakery item to your table later. It's a perfect way to end a stay with an iced latte. The staff is super helpful if you have any questions on the menu, and their salsa verde is yummy. I usually hang outside to enjoy the San Diego weather, but I've had food inside which is great to get away if it's too windy or cold outside. I love Agave. This is a top 3 spot for me locally. The restaurant was not very clean. Several tables had dirty dishes on them throughout the time we were there. We ordered at the counter and had to find somewhere to sit. We waited for our food for about 25 minutes and they were not busy. One meal came out an approximately 6 minutes before the other. One was a bacon and egg grilled cheese and the other was the breakfast croissant. They forgot the bacon on the first one and said they would bring it on the side. The croissant was sitting under a heat lamp when we went to the front about the bacon. They brought the breakfast croissant several minutes later. It was missing the avocado so we took it back up and they brought it back immediately. The server that brought the missing items apologized but it wasn't her mistake. The croissant by this time was cold. For costing almost $40, we will not be back. read more

We ordered our food to go but there was plenty of seating inside and outside. I ordered the agave chicken sandwich, tater tots, and berry lemonade. The food is made fresh to order so it took a while to cook but it was worth the wait. If you're in a time crunch, I would order ahead of time for pick up. The chicken on my sandwich had a nice flavor and was messy but they gave us lots of napkins. The tater tots were crispy which is the best way to eat them. We parked in the parking garage and it was hard finding a spot at first and then the back part of the parking lot on the first floor was a dead end but luckily someone came out and we backed into a parking space. Otherwise, you would have to back all the way out to go back around to find a spot. That was the one downside about parking. read more

While on jury duty, I found Agave because it's an easy, convenient walk from the courthouse--and I'm so glad I did. Everything I've tried has been really good. The egg croissant sandwich was delicious--I expected scrambled eggs, but it came with a fried egg instead, and honestly, it was so good. The turkey club I had today was also excellent. I appreciated the little extras too--the breakfast sandwich came with crispy potatoes, and the turkey club included a pasta salad, which was a nice surprise. The dining setup is great, with seating in the main ordering area as well as a separate dining room, so it doesn't feel cramped. It's been a really pleasant lunch spot, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're nearby or on jury duty. read more

On the so-so side, the food was not terrible and not amazing so it walked the line of doing just enough. It was pricey for what they offered.
