I enjoy going here, but unfortunately I'm writing this as I sit at the bar. The barista made my drink cold instead of hot. He was kind enough to give me the cold drink for free, but then proceeded to make another person's drink and take orders, making me wait an additional five minutes to make my proper order. Edgy vibes here at this coffee shop/cafe. Tons of cool decor and art all throughout the shop. The baristas are friendly and offer solid suggestions since there are a lot of good options on the menu. Coffee is good but service not so much. Took maybe 10 minutes for me to order even though I was the only one in line because they were so backed up. Only 1 barista was working while the other, a guy with long curly hair sat at the counter chatting the whole time. Chula Vista Coffee Adventure, Day 2. Came in a little after 10am on a Thursday; parking wasn't too bad (but quarters for the meters are a must), there was no line for ordering but the seating was pretty compromised. Definitely seemed like it'd be a popular local working/study spot, especially with the offbeat artistic aesthetic. There was plenty to look at with the interesting artwork on the wall. Probably not the best place to enjoy a Mommy-and-Me coffee date but I was committed. Their baked goods were pretty much sold out; all they had left were chocolate muffins and some kind of unmarked scone. I wound up just getting a bagel with cream cheese, to my little one's disappointment. I got a large Iced Peanut Butter Cup, which I was informed came with four shots of espresso. When I asked if it could be made half-caff, I was informed that their machine only serves doubles...it didn't quite math out well in my head, so I just went all in. Their espresso was delicious, strong but smooth with a really interesting flavor profile. The peanut butter cup drink was rich and sweet, and somehow didn't make me jittery. My toddler's plain bagel was a plain bagel with a very generous amount of cream cheese. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience, just not one I could easily share with a little one. read more

Btw, parking is metered on that street, and even the meters are outdated so make sure you have some coins lol! They have lots of motivational messages around the interior, very good vibes :) food ordered - americano: good americano as expected, slightly tart! asked for 1.5 pumps of sugar free vanilla - bacon cheddar breakfast sando: loved this!! the english muffin is house made, and is one of the best english muffins I've ever had! soft yet crispy on the outside. Great vibes, open air seating whether inside or outside it felt very open. The staff were very friendly and their menu was very versatile! They have all different flavors of coffee, plus matcha, & teas. Everything was delicious. The Matcha is very light and not sweet at all so I needed some simple syrup in mine. We have been coming here often for coffee and breakfast. We had the worst experience here the other day. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and they came with some sauce not advertised. My husband went up to the counter requesting it be remade without sauce and suggested that be disclosed prior to purchase. Instead of remaking him another sandwich at no cost. They requested we pay for another sandwich without hesitation. So we just threw away the other sandwich. Just bad customer service although. This is my 2nd time at this location and it is amazing. My first time ordering food and it did not disappoint. The veggie sandwich was toasted perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The combination of spinach and egg is so smart. It took maybe 10-15 mins for our food to come out but it was definitely worth it. My friend and I both ordered vanilla cold brew and it had the perfect balance of caffeine with a light hint of vanilla without being overpowering. I've driven by this coffee places a bunch of times. I had an appointment and hungry. I saw the pictures of the Cuban sandwich and I had to try it. Oh man!!!! DELICIOUS The sandwich was huge, and had the other half for dinner. I also ordered an almond milk dulce de leche latte. I even got a free pup cup for the homeless doggie who was down the street. This cute local shop is on Third Ave in downtown Chula Vista. There's a couple places to sit with tables, and it seems like a good place to get some work done. Came here on a weekday morning and it wasn't busy at all. I could definitely see that it could get busy though. I ordered an iced chai latte with oatmilk, and a cubano sandwich. Iced chai 10/10! Every inch is used to fit a few tables and chairs, a coffee bar area, a small glass pastry display case and a place to line up to place your order. It's a popular destination for a lot of locals and people that work close by. So you need to be patient at times. As lines can be going out the door. Only two people are running the whole operation at one time. The employees are friendly as can be as they hustle to get your order and whip up your drinks. So be kind and leave a tip if your are so inclined. Grindhouse is a bright spot on Third Avenue and should be highlighted. A small coffee house filling a demand.
