I had been hearing about this cute new coffee shop that's practically walking distance from me, so I was really excited to finally give it a try. Walking in, the space has those hometown, community vibes you would hope would make you feel comfortable and welcome. The shop is also surprisingly spacious for a coffee shop, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, the experience itself was not what I expected. It wasn't a particularly busy morning, and there were at least four baristas behind the counter, yet my husband and I waited at least 20 minutes for our drinks. Our pastries came out fairly quickly, but that meant we had to eat them separately rather than enjoying them with our coffee. To make matters worse, my croissant tasted burnt. Yuck. When I finally heard my name called, I walked up to the counter and saw two drinks sitting there. Since neither was labeled, I politely asked the barista which drink was which. Instead of simply helping me, she responded, "I haven't made yours yet," with a pretty obvious attitude. It was an unnecessarily rude interaction and definitely didn't make me feel welcome. I went back to my seat and ended up waiting another five minutes for our drinks. And unfortunately, the coffee itself didn't make up for the wait. I ordered the salted maple latte, and my husband had the French vanilla latte. Both were mediocre at best and left us pretty underwhelmed. Overall, I really wanted to like this place, especially because of its cute atmosphere and convenient location. But between the long wait, burnt pastry, unfriendly service, and disappointing coffee, our first experience was not a good one. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Quick stop to get caffeinated at CASA DE OTAY in Chula Vista! We tried to visit the casa location, but couldn't find parking. So, we drove by the casita off of Optima/Metro Park, and easily found a parking spot and walked right up to the counter. This neighborhood location is so cute!! I was immediately envisioning myself living in the surrounding condos and would most definitely make this a weekly excursion with my dogs. The Brown Sugar Rosemary Matcha off of the fall menu was delightful!! I requested 25% sweetness and it was perfect. After a quick stir and a sip, the hint of rosemary was a pleasant surprise. It was different, subtle, aromatic, and beautifully balanced with the earthy matcha. My brother ordered the iced Vanila Latte and finished it before I could ask if I could try it! Came for the first time on a weekday before noon to grab a coffee and food with my mom. The place is super spacious and it has the modern decor, but it was packed in there with people studying or hanging out. It was really loud and overstimulating when we tried to sit at the stools near the bar. We ordered a drip coffee, ice salted maple and a couple of chicken empanadas. They had already sold out of the burrito and beef empanada which I really wanted to order. Maybe next time. The coffee was great, not too sweet. Empanadas were standard nothing too special. We ended up sitting outside which was super nice and way quieter. I think this is a nice coffee shop for the neighborhood. Maybe there other days where it's more calm & we can enjoy the inside. I absolutely love the Casita located in the Millennia community. The little Casita is so easy and convenient to get to. I feel like the parking and accessibility is perfect. I love the coffee. The vanilla bourbon latte is chef's kiss! The service is always great. They sometimes have pastries at the Casita, but if you want more breakfast options, you can go over to the big Casa right down the block. The Casita is perfect. It also has that cool machine that they can put fancy decorations on your lattes, so give it a try! My husband and I came here on Friday morning while we walked our dog. This shop is quite hidden from the main street, as it is located within the neighborhood. If you are driving, I would recommend parking in the lot near Common Theory and Sura BBQ. There are photos in the reviews for both locations, and this location is outdoors in a shipping crate on Optima St. If you're looking for the location with indoor seating with more coffee shop vibes, you'll need to visit their location on Metro Ave. I ordered the Café de Olla which was described to me as a brown sugar latte. This latte was definitely on the sweet side so if you like sweet drinks, this one is for you. However, I definitely underestimated how sweet it would be. The coffee itself was good and I liked that there was a strong coffee flavor. Though I don't think this is something I would order again due to it being extremely sweet. I had to water my drink down with ice to dilute the sweetness. For my next visit, I plan to order a latte without any sweetener. My husband ordered the cold brew but unfortunately they were out. The barista recommended the iced americano which was a great alternative. Prices are on par with the current prices around San Diego. There's a ton of seating so you can sit down and enjoy your coffee. I also saw they had some pastries but I didn't get a chance to try them. I came here because I had seen it on social media. I wanted to get drinks with designer on it. I wonder if you have to ask for that- I don't mind paying extra for it. It was a very busy and there was a line. I came and grabbed drinks to try. I got the bourbon vanilla and the banana matcha. I really enjoyed the banana matcha- lots of flavor and loved the banana flavor. Actually now that I remember for the coffee I got the salted maple but it honestly kind of just tasted like vanilla. I haven't ordered a coffee from a cafe in years because of my tree nut allergy, but I decided to change that today! I called ahead and the lady I spoke to reassured me their coffees would be safe for me to drink. When I arrived, the person I spoke to was not there, but the three people inside were kind and patient. This is the best coffee shop in Eastlake! This place is amazing! They just opened a new location with plenty of space and room. It has so many tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your coffee and food. It has inside seating and outside seating. They also sale merchandise! Beautiful flower bouquets. My fav drink so their vanilla bourbon iced lattee. It's delicious! Very unique flavor! I'm happy that there is a little specialty type of coffee place in the area because I would much rather support small and local. I love the concept of a cargo container in the middle of the neighborhood! I got an iced matcha latte with soy milk and vanilla, and my boyfriend got the iced latte with oat milk and a little bit of honey. We went twice and the drinks were consistent and pretty good. We've had better coffee and matcha elsewhere, but this place definitely has some quality to it. I would like to try their special drinks and pastries, as well! I had to shout out a new coffee shop on the east side of Chula Vista. Tucked away in the Millenia neighborhood in Otay Ranch is this cute coffee shop housed in a shipping container. They have a simple menu with coffees full of flavor and amazing art! Faves: Cafe De Olla - Sweet, creamy, and smooth. Pairs well with the vegan Empanada that I had. Super happy there's something else other than Starbucks in the area. Discovered this on yelp and had to try it out. I can definitely see myself coming back :) It's tucked away in the back of Millenia in a part that's still developing. It's not in a building, its like a blue container shed in a park area in Millenia. Its by the Common Theory and soon to be Sura BBQ. The area itself is really clean and cute. Parking will either be really good or tough. But as the area continues to develop and become more busy and full, I can see it starting to become a challenge. They have a small strip of parking but its shared with Common Theory and the soon to be Sura BBQ so that little strip of parking will be a challenge. There's street parking and other parking nearby but like I said, as the area grows it will be more challenging to park. Service itself was great. I like when I go to places, that I'm greeted with a smile. Staff was also friendly and very patient. They did great at explaining things on the menu for me and I like that I saw them hustling and working hard. The matcha latte was pretty dang good. I like that it wasn't overwhelming. Also, when I'd get Matcha at Starbucks it would leave a weird aftertaste, this one doesn't. It's a good Matcha and I would much rather get it here and support a local business. The cafe de olla was pretty good too. It was just the right amount of sweetness and warmth and it hit the spot just right. I 100% say you should come here. I'm all for supporting local businesses and this one definitely deserves your support. A bonus, outdoor seating and dog friendly! So I just went to their new location at 1665 Metro Ave in Otay Ranch, and the new coffee shop was so cute and spacious with plenty of seating. I had their Salted Maple Latte and it was so delicious, and they also added a cute little design to my latte. It was quite creative and nice surprise. The staff were very friendly and quick to get my drink out. Can't wait to go back to try another one of their lattes. The only downside is the parking situation. It's hard to find parking due to its location being at the Millenia Apartments/condos that's the only reason I gave it a 4-star, if there was a 4.5 I'd give it a 4.5 because of parking. read more
