Nice! Good place to chill with a book for an hour or so. A little utilitarian for my taste, but good coffee and right in the heart of a big shopping center. FYI, The line queues right through the seating area, so if you like people watching, that's a plus...if you don't, maybe try a diff spot. read more

Great place to grab coffee and catch up on work. Great Cold Brew. Decent amount of seating, to include some higher tables perfect for standing if you're like me. Lots of drink options, but not a lot of baked goods. I haven't been impressed with the pastry options here and not sure if they're the freshest. Located in a large shopping center, so parking shouldn't be an issue. read more

Grit Coffee is a local-ish coffee chain that is popular in the Charlottesville area. Yelp led me here and I could not be happier with my Sunday morning pick me up! My husband really loved his Ethiopian blend coffee and my latte was delicious. The line went almost to the door but it went pretty quickly. Even though there was confusion about my order the baristas were nice as can be! Tons of parking and close to lots of other restaurants/hotels. Love all of their merch and they even had a special UVA Cavalier blend. read more

The staff is always welcoming and friendly even when they're slammed. While this is my favorite drink their seasonal and iced ones are just as delicious! They've got alternative dairy options and some yummy breakfast options. The space itself isn't too loud. There are often plenty of people working or studying. I've only hung out outside with friends before but each time it's been a wonderful experience. read more

This was a great place to sit and work. The seats with cushioned are comfortable and convenient for plugging in laptops. The high top tables also had plenty of wall sockets, but the cushioned seats are definitely the most desirable. The restroom was also clean. The coffee and the breakfast sandwich were good, but this is primarily a coffee shop, the food offerings are not meant to be a meal. The baristas were very nice, too. read more

Highly recommend trying their iced fog drink. It's a tea based drink that can be made either hot or cold. I saw it on their menu online but not in person so I mentioned it to the barista and he was able to make one. Great location among a bunch of shops and restaurants and walking distance from Hyatt place. read more

I love smaller coffee shops and this one was super busy. I asked for a small iced vanilla latte with almond milk but I didn't get the vanilla syrup. They had some simple syrup out so I just put a few dashes of that and it made it a million times better. It was super busy so I just think the girl didn't hear me right. Got coffee here, decent amount of seating both indoor and outdoor. I just got black coffee and it is $3 for a medium self serve, a little pricier than some places but it's in a nicer area so understandable. Clientele were mostly students and young professionals and it was quiet and nice. read more

A cool place to get a coffee and study! This is a great place that might go overlooked because of location in the corner of stonefield mall. As mentioned above, Grit Stonefield is the Stonefield Mall branch of Grit Coffee. It is located a little ways past from Stonefield Regal next the movie theater parking lot entrance on the side closer to Trader Joes. Inside the coffee shop, you will notice a few things: a large standing desk with chairs, smaller desks arranged in the seating area and a coffee bar. This is basically perfect for studying (the only problem I can think of is a shortage of power outlets). Now talking about coffee specifically, Grit serves a decent cup of Joe, but you aren't likely to find some of the longer, more interestingly named drinks like commercial chain coffee places (IE Starbucks). Despite that, the coffee served is of great quality. read more

Honestly, Pretty Great! There's nothing wrong with this place per se, but while I loved the taste and variation of the coffee here, it's just GREAT. The servers are helpful and phenomenal. Lots of shared laughs at the counter! The space is quiet. There were hardly any people there in the morning, so I get the idea that this place isn't usually packed very often. That said, I can't think of any better place to get coffee in Stonefield, so try this place! read more

This coffee shop is sleek with its industrial style. They have a large patio for warmer weather and plenty of seating inside. They advertise food as well but the menu is pretty limited. I did have a goat cheese and egg sandwich and it was really yummy. I also tried one of their sugar cookies and it was better to look at. It was very dry and hard. I didn't even finish it. The coffee was delicious and came with a cute design. They have free WiFi which is great for studying. The staff was friendly but disorganized. When we asked to see their food menu, they fumbled around for a while before finally finding one. Overall, a nice place to go but I wouldn't recommend if you want more to eat than a snack size portion. I definitely recommend if you're just looking for some good coffee in a nice atmosphere! read more

I ordered an iced coffee and chocolate cookie, and both were delicious. The iced coffee had a smooth and slightly bitter taste, which made for a great drink to slowly sip on this hot day. I really liked the vibe of this place! I had to take an exam while out of town, and this was the perfect place to take it. Nice outdoor seating, free wifi, and it doesn't get too loud inside. I ordered a peppermint tea because I wasn't in the mood for coffee and enjoyed it. You're able to add the amount of milk/cream and sugar you would like. Oh My Goodness! If only it hadn't been so late in the day, the smell of their coffee was absolutely intoxicating! We dropped in to grab a sweet treat after a disappointing meal at the local N&C. Not much was left in the case, but I took a chance on the granola bar with cranberries... Wow! I'm so wishing we had purchased all three of them. Grit has the best coffee in the greater Charlottesville area- however they have to be 3 stars for me because the food is just so bad that I basically never come here. There's not often a time I *just* want coffee without a pastry, and certainly not willing to deal with that parking lot/shopping center to go in and grab just a drink, even though it really is the best around. Nice coffee shop to get some work done for an afternoon! The tables are spacious and allow you to spread out with books/laptops/notebooks/etc and whatever your caffeine fix is. The coffee is okay, but be aware that the non-dairy options (almond milk/oat milk) are pricey with a $1 upcharge. Their lattes were not the best I've ever had (I'd probably give them a 3/5), BUT I really enjoy their oatmilk chai (the oatmilk goes really well with the cinnamon and spices - 5/5). In terms of food, I've only had their scones which can be a bit dry; there are so refrigerated options as well such as chicken salad and egg salad if you need something more substantial. read more

My 100th review. I think it's fitting that it falls on a coffee shop because I've spent so much of the last years studying! This coffee shop is an excellent set up to study and sip coffee. There were a lot of UVA students here when I went. I got an iced tea which was as expected. I had a homemade granola bar, and it was delicious. They did not have many lunch options and really the only food is snacks, such as a little chicken salad or hummus and chips. I got a southwest bean salad which I would recommend. I am fairly obsessed with this place. I love that it's easy access to shopping and parking, so it makes it a very convenient stop. The coffee is without comparison in the area and I DIE for their alternative milk selection. Why don't more places have oat milk?! The last time I was there the barista gave me a sample of an oat milk chai latte after I had ordered an oat milk latte to see if I would like it, which of course I did because it was delicious. So that little extra touch of customer service was lovely. We also get Grit coffee freshly roasted at my office which makes for an enjoyable daily coffee experience. The ONLY reason I'd consider knocking this location a star is because it can be difficult to snag a seat, but the positives completely outweigh that one negative. read more

I hate to give such a hard rating cause all I've had here is coffee... but since it's a coffee shop, my rating is based on the coffee. I waked over from the Hyatt Place hoping to get a better cup of coffee than I had there for free. After tasting the coffee as I walked out the door, I immediately threw it in the first trash can I could find and went back for a refill of the free crap at Hyatt. They get 2 stars only cause I feel bad about being a DBag, but honestly, it was absolutely terrible. Pretty sure no amount of sugar or milk could have fixed it. Next time you come here, I'll stick with the beer, which I'm pretty sure isn't made in house. read more

Squeaky clean hardwood floors all over. Tasteful old furniture. Every staff member I spoke to was polite, courteous, and happy to help. The self serve stations for hot coffee, tea, and cold water was a convenient resource outside of the door. This inn appears to be made of several former homes that were turned into a campus of buildings making the Oakhurst Inn. It's not a single building. The small lawn in the center of the complex has benches, hammock, and a fireplace that seems welcoming and nice, but I wasn't aware of them until I left. There were a few problems during my stay. The inn requires guests to use valet parking which is $40 per night, not disclosed before my stay, and often required a long wait for the valet to return. This makes it hard to retrieve anything you need from your car. The front desk staff are often missing from the front desk - I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come back and check me in on arrival. Likewise, the bartender is often away from station and you might wait 10 or 30 minutes for the bartender to return. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the hotel rooms. The pool area was extremely dark at night, making it tricky or dangerous to navigate. The pool water was lukewarm, not warm at all. The sauna was out of order and the doorway was small and obscured by chairs. Not accessible and difficult to find. This inn has no gym. The lobby is very small and has no seating for guests or places to hang their luggage, although the nearby lounge has a few leather couches and a fireplace that doesn't appear to be working. Not the most welcoming or convenient. Overall I don't think it's worth the hefty price tag and would stay elsewhere when I return to Charlottesville.

We got to sit "side by side" which was kind of similar to sitting on the couch at home. In this configuration we saw numerous local regulars come and give each server an envelope with what we presume to be a thank you to their dedicated service. It was also the first time I met the owners. One was so enthusiastic that she made a comment of my unique eye and had to show me her "child" that had the exact same one.
