Iced Vanilla Chai Latte with Oat Milk
    Andi W.

The barista that helped us was really nice in answering some of the questions I had about their chai and made a delicious iced chai latte. It's was cute inside although a little small. I did see a sign for more seating upstairs and there were a few options for outside seating as well.

Got their seasonal vanilla honey latte with pumpkin spice & I just FELT the autumn in my bones! Still as impressive and cute as ever. A perfect Gilmore Girls study spot too ngl

Right off the corner and a convenient way for students to get some boujee coffee. The place is very nice to sit and work in- they have an entire upstairs area as well as patio. Apparently all the pastries come from cou cou ra chou which is the best in town. Definitely think they should expand this collection though because the food wasn't my favorite. But I guess that's why they're all about the fun drinks! Wide selection

Grit is a hip coffeehouse. So much so that you might not be greeted if you're milling around the register.  Now to the nitty gritty. Grit Coffee has a variety of seating options: inside, on the sidewalk next to Elliewood, outside on the back deck. I was really fond of the deck since I was able to absorb some sunshine and admire the verdant veggie garden down below. From skimming other reviews, apparently there's an upstairs too which I totally missed.  I ordered off the fall drink menu, sipping on a small Fog Cabin ($3.50) which was cinnamon spice tea with some maple syrup and steamed milk in there. Mmm. Despite the t-shirt weather, I was getting cozy, cooler weather, lost-in-the-red-orange-yellow-leaved-woods feels from my warm beverage. I also had a bite of an Albemarle Baking Company morning glory muffin, and it seemed delightful. Be sure to put your used dishes in the tub or you might get mildly chided about that.

Stumbled upon this spot on a recent visit to Charlottesville. The staff were kind, friendly and chatty -- which is so refreshing (not always having the same experience in DC, where I live full-time.) I even got to have a conversation with one of the baristas about what she was studying in school at UVA. I love it! Great staff makes all the difference to me. I ordered a large iced coffee. It was strong, smooth and absolutely hit the spot on a hot afternoon after a long drive down 29 South. This spot was tucked away, off the main area of the corner. There was a bit of outdoor seating. It seemed like a perfect spot to catch up with friends or get some work done. They had ground and whole bean coffee you could purchase to go and a few baked goods for those who are interested.

    Lavender honey iced latte

I've gotten this lavender honey iced latte multiple times this week so I thought I'd review it because it's so good. It has a subtle lavender taste, not to strong but you can taste it. The iced latte is divine on its own but the lavender addition is perfect for spring! They have a great seasonal menu and I can easily say I'll be going back tomorrow. Also grit has a rewards program so get on that!

Grit coffee is my favorite place to grab a quick drink on the Corner at UVA. There's indoor and outdoor seating, making it a convenient meeting place for university students. The seasonal menu is exceptional, especially the matcha lavender latte. As someone who is not a huge coffee person, I can always find a delicious tea-based beverage at Grit. I would also highly recommend signing up for their rewards program: you earn points very quickly and can redeem them for various beverages!

    Perfectly frothy

Enjoyed an amazing flat white this morning thanks to barista Charlie! So good! I will definitely be back for more. 10/10 recommend!

    Milky no crema latté.

This place has been here for a long time but somehow hasn't figured out how to make a consistent product. My latte was too milky and no crema. If you just want to sit around on your laptop it may be alright, but not for those who want good coffee.

    Cafe con leche

Great spot, great people, amazing coffee, do I need to say more? I love the fact that they serve oat milk which had been an obsession on mine for some time now. My hubby and I got café con leche with oat milk and it was delicious! There is an outdoor seating area in the back that is so relaxing and a spot you can have your coffee and a great conversation. Love, love, love it!

    Disgusting.
    Valerie M.

So, I'm not having coffee with a disgusting bathroom like this. If the staff can't keep the facilities clean in the restroom, it doesn't reason they can keep anything else clean. Filthy.

Great spot just off the beaten path. Pumpkin Pie latte is excellent and not too sweet.

Chicken and Waffles- fried crispy bone in chicken is yue only way to go. My teen son eat every crumb. Avocado Toast with egg and smoked salmon - my husband loved it. Make a reservation, but there's also a little grab and go spot right when you walk in. Breakfast cocktails were yummy! I didn't feel guilty having a chocolate espresso martini for breakfast:) Bananas Foster Beignets was ridiculous! Benedict options were so unique. I recommend asking questions to make sure you're getting what you want. Hindsight I would have added protein to the green tomato Benedict. We also got a bowl that was much more like a salad and not like a hearty bowl. All were delicious, just not what was expected. We would return for sure!

The bar, front desk, valet and pool just steps away. The staff were like family and accommodations very comfortable. Squeaky clean hardwood floors all over. Tasteful old furniture. Every staff member I spoke to was polite, courteous, and happy to help. The self serve stations for hot coffee, tea, and cold water was a convenient resource outside of the door. This inn appears to be made of several former homes that were turned into a campus of buildings making the Oakhurst Inn. It's not a single building. The small lawn in the center of the complex has benches, hammock, and a fireplace that seems welcoming and nice, but I wasn't aware of them until I left. There were a few problems during my stay. The inn requires guests to use valet parking which is $40 per night, not disclosed before my stay, and often required a long wait for the valet to return. This makes it hard to retrieve anything you need from your car. The front desk staff are often missing from the front desk - I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come back and check me in on arrival. Likewise, the bartender is often away from station and you might wait 10 or 30 minutes for the bartender to return. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the hotel rooms. The pool area was extremely dark at night, making it tricky or dangerous to navigate. The pool water was lukewarm, not warm at all. The sauna was out of order and the doorway was small and obscured by chairs. Not accessible and difficult to find. This inn has no gym. The lobby is very small and has no seating for guests or places to hang their luggage, although the nearby lounge has a few leather couches and a fireplace that doesn't appear to be working. Not the most welcoming or convenient. Overall I don't think it's worth the hefty price tag and would stay elsewhere when I return to Charlottesville.
