So very lovely! Excellent food and amazing service. I love to try new places when I'm traveling, and this was worth the trip. There are daily specials which I'm sure are with a trip back for me. I don't even like squash but it came with the steak tips and I ate it all. I had the blackberry tart and it was perfect with one of the best crusts I've had in a dessert.

Everything was delicious! We started with the bread basket (very generous portions and variety for the menu price), then had the African spiced chicken, and the shrimp and peas for entrees. Both were really tasty and interesting dishes with somewhat unexpected combos. We split the crispy rice fritters for dessert, with the bay leaf ice cream providing a nice counterpoint. Drinks were also fun: I had "The Breeze at Dawn," and then had another because it was a refreshing and well balanced cocktail for this gin fan. We appreciated being able to sit outside, and also that the staff checked in on us to make sure we were doing alright with the lively large party next to us on the patio. We thought we might've been lost in the shuffle when it took 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering the first round, but after that minor hiccup service was top-notch. Would absolutely recommend Grit to others!

I loved this place and I cannot wait to go back the next time I am in town! We went on Sunday after church for Sunday brunch. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and holy cow! That thing was loaded! There was so much ham I almost couldn't fit it in my mouth! My dad ordered the bananas foster French toast and he ate all of it!

Great atmosphere! Indoor and outdoor covered seating . We are outside and had a wonderful brunch. Employee were cheerful and attentive. Food was fantastic. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast and loved it. My wife had the burger without a bun. She said it tasted great. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich and loved it. Large sandwich so she only ate half. Would be great to share with someone if your not a big eater or on a budget.

This place is defiantly a gem! Located in a small beautiful area in taylor,ms..Service was fantastic, everyone smiles and greets you with enthusiasm. The restaurant has a farmhouse feel to it, the floors look original. The food was really good, I had the roast beef special po boy and my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich with a fried egg on top. A small mistake was made on my wife's meal, and with out hesitation they immediately comped us for there incredible banana bread pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream on top. Again, kudos to the service, management, and chef. Definitely will go back! Can't wait to try the brunch.

I was lucky enough to have brunch at Grit this weekend, as I was in town for a friend's wedding. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, from the facade and the art all the way down to the plates and mugs. The food rivals the best I've had in San Francisco, and the service was friendly and attentive. I am posting a bunch of photos because the spot is very new and people should know about it!

I've never had a bite of food at Grit that wasn't delicious. The menu is seasonal and every season is terrific. Worth the drive from Oxford!

I sat at the bar and stared at my salad for a long time as it sat in the window. Tonight I ordered the Caesar again and said I would order my entree later. Server informed me my salad was almost ready. At that time I ordered my entree- red fish. I received my salad after a few minutes after that. Just a few minutes later and not quite half way through my Caesar my redfish showed up and dropped mid salad. I let My server came to check on me and she kindly apologized and I told her it was just feedback I thought would help because it seems like it's a problem. Just feedback. My server got "sat". She said she'd bring me water and got backed up. I ended up refilling my water at the bar. This is a long review but it has a happy ending, I promise. Her name was Julie. I sat at the Duce next to the window right by the bar. Julie told Me she saw me get my own water. She said she was going to take care of my bill. Surprised that my feedback resulted in this level of recover I asked if the restaurant is taking care of my check or if she was. She said the manager offered a small discount on the salad but she was sorry I had this kind of experience and wanted to make sure I Came back and gave them another chance. She said this was her passion and wants to make sure her guests are taken care of. I insisted I pay and explained I was there on business so I wasn't paying for it myself. After several time trying, I just said "thank you and I wished everyone cared as much." That was by far the most sincere service recovery I ever encountered and it was at the cost of the associate. Manager never game to the table. I don't recall seeing anyone that fit that description either. This is a mid to upper tier price point "nice" establishment so expectations should reflect that. Julie owned it and took one for the team. I felt horrible she felt she needed to do that. I hope she doesn't do this often. Experience not so good but I experienced worse. Food was okay to good. Julie was outstanding. I don't carry cash but I gave her everything I had. The only response I need to hear that would make me change my mind is if Julie was refunded for my check. There are a few people in here and the atmosphere is light and the chatter of people talking is a welcome sound. We stopped in tonight for dinner after dropping a kid off at Ole Miss. this building is from the 1800's, which is pretty cool in and of itself. When you roll up to Taylor Grocery, it literally is like taking a step back in time. This is about as old school as you'll find. We entered and left our name and then were told to wait outside until our name was called. The wait was only maybe 10 minutes. We were seated and given menus and began our perusing. We settled on a sample app, a bowl of gumbo, a small fried catfish dinner and a country fried pork meal. The sample was quick to arrive, hush puppies, boneless chicken wings, catfish nuggets and fried shrimp. Everything was hot and delicious. The entrees arrived shortly after. The catfish dinner was hot and delicious, the fries with rotella were also hot and delicious and the baked beans were also good. The country fried pork was cooked well and also hot and delicious and crunchy. The gravy was flavorful and the side of okra and fries were also tasty. We finished the meal with a slice of pecan pie with ice cream. The ice cream is absolutely delicious and the pie was great too. I will note, this is the south, salt is used liberally on everything down here and Taylor Grocery is no exception. So be warned, it will have a bold salty flavor if you're eating fried foods here. The server was fantastic, Jeff the host was also fantastic. Refills were given freely and liberally and the live music was outstanding as well. You absolutely must try Taylor Grocery, the ambience and history and food is absolutely awesome.
