Grocery Outlet buys many unusual and unique items that did not do well in other grocery chains. If the five pallets of coconut oil is not selling there will be a 5% markup in paper products. Grocery Outlet is not a discount market, Be very careful and look at pricing. Today you bought a 10oz bag of lunch meat for $10.00 tomorrow the same lunch meat is now 7oz and still $10.00. This branch is well maintained, clean, and there is a happy feeling in the place like we are all getting a bargain. I used to go there often until a few weeks ago. I went there and the place was very dirty. Some of the refrigerators were leaking. They had dirty rags on the ground to collect the water. The place just seems very dirty. The restrooms are disgusting. I don't know what's going on here, but it seems like the owner doesn't really care anymore. The back alleyway is a mess with their cardboard boxes that are compressed on pallets laying all over the alleyway turning it into a one-way alley instead of a two-way like it normally is. read more

Back at G.O. again today. And again....another significant error at checkout. One item out of six rang up wrong. A bunch of celery, priced at $1.29 in the produce dept rang up as $1.99. Seventy cents error, or 54 percent of the expected (1.29) cost. Overall, 70 cents amounted to a little more than a 3 percent error in my $22.40 total bill. Not that much, right? But you should ask yourself what would happen if you were a grade school teacher or an engineer or architect and each day you worked you made errors that totaled 3 percent. They are very active in the our community, donating, running classes on healthy eating and promoting savings. I'm a big fan of Grocery Outlet and always have a good experience there, but this week was extra special. Kat was my cashier and she was so friendly and got excited with me about all of my purchases. She gave me some delivery schedule tips and recommended some other cool products that were new to the floor. I could not have asked for a better person or interaction to close out a fun morning shopping. There were also a couple other women, who's names I unfortunately did not get, that helped my mother and I. One of them was restocking and knew exactly what we were looking for and that it was in her pile. She gave it to us like she was as excited to have helped us as we were to get the snacks we wanted. Just cut open watermelon I bought yesterday. This thing looked great on outside. When I cut it, it blew liquid all over the counter and looked like raw slimy meat. I was told to bring it back without a receipt for exchange. Gross So I'm adding stars because I've been frequent shopper here. They do serve our community well and have fundraisers often. They really did make a huge difference with the building and shopping option on the southeast end of town. Plus the selections, prices, and cleanliness are better than others I been to. read more

This place has sold me old rejected produce over and over again. This time it was sour fermented orange juice that made the same noise you get opening a coke. It was a square carton that has blowted to a round box. I tried to return it and they wanted a receipt , not going to go digging for it. Can't use store credit as I won't be going there anymore. This store has been a staple in our family for years, love the customer service and even the little "grocery outlet, bargain market" jingle, the prices have been pretty good, but just recently all of this has seemed to change, I don't like to make a bad review especially about this local gem, but I can't help but to say I've been quite disappointed over the past 6 months, there have been several times that an item has a certain sale price tag and when I go to pay its a different price, they go check and come back and say yes it was on that label but it was misplaced( a whole stock of the same item, it wasn't just one missplaced) or its not that price anymore, we forgot to remove the price tag, and instead of honoring that it was their mistake, and saling it for the stated price they don't and their attitude s as if they don't care. Come on, customer service, you can do better than that, please make sure tags are placed for the correct item, and that if they go off sale, remove the tag...today a family pack was on sale, it was in sealed box with a pack of 9... the tag said family pack, I go to the checkout, the lady begins to open the sealed box, and says oh no these are sold individually. If they are going to be sold individually, don't place them on the shelves in a sealed box of 9 and make a label that says family size, and then begin to open the box at checkout, If you're going to keep them in a sealed box, sell them as the sealed box, or if not open each box and sell them individually, the whole rack has all the same sealed boxes in packs of 9... but you won't know they will open the box and sell them individually to you at the register., come on, please do a little better. Tolerable if it was just at the front door but now it permeates the store. In line with my flowers I brought it up to the cashier and others chimed in as well that it is offensive. My first time here. Needed a few things. While I was doing my shopping I went to the produce department and noticed the milk expired Sept 30th. Yuck. I continue to shop here frequently (1-3x weekly) and still amazed by the amazing products they carry for extremely low prices. If you like organic, grassfed, gluten free, ect.. products, you must shop here!!! Often you will find wine from the Santa Ynez Valley for 65-80% off. I have seen Blackjack, Roblar and Foley all for insanely cheap. They also have the biggest selection of cheese in lompoc. Things like snacks, spices, frozen meals and beauty items are often 75% and more off retail. Bottom line is, you cannot buy everything off your list here but stop here first!!! OK. This is closer to my house compare to other groceries. They are still new but you can see that they are organized. I don't know if their prices will change but they are comparable, at least to some of them. Employees were courteous, most of them greeted me with cheer, corny but it is true. Thanks to Alex for his completely dishonest response to my review. He claims that I was in line and started barking orders to the staff in 59 seconds. That is False and how could he know when he was sitting in the back office with a closed door? He wasn't anywhere around the front area. I had visited the store 3 hours earlier and I was the one that mentioned to the cashier that the reader was having problems. The cashier hadn't even reported the problem yet. Upon return several hours later, they were still working with the same register that was having problems prior to my second visit. It's really not that difficult to shut down a problem register and move to register 3 until issue resolved. If Alix is as smart as he acts, why didn't he know there was a problem and address it immediately instead of taking it out on a $300 per month customer? When I went to the office where he was, I had already stood in line behind several other customers for several minutes waiting for another register or something else to happen so we could all make our purchase and move along. For him to cop an attitude like he did with me and behave disrespectfully because I had to do the cashier's job and let him know there was a problem. AND IF HE CLAIMS HE ALREADY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM, why did he subject the paying customers to long wait times when he knew the answer was very simple. Run another register until this one is repaired. It's actually been a problem since day one, just never addressed til now. I'm really tired of Owner's like this acting like they're doing such a big favor by opening the doors for business. And who is this young boy to tell me how I should write my description of what happened? He can use a business class in ethics and proper business manners. He never did apologize for being such a big JERK. That's why he's mad at me now. I called him out on his crap on social media and he needs to retaliate instead of just apologizing for wasting everyone's time by making a bad business decision. No worries about going back. And I will tell many about the horrific experience that was completely unnecessary. He's been here for a few years, and the true Lompoc people don't need disrespect in the community. You caused a problem, take responsibility. We've all had to at one time or another. The Santa Maria store has better selection and prices anyway. Check them out on Broadway. Had the most disrespectful encounter by 3 employees today, all 3 were young girls and Hispanic. I'm also Hispanic, so nothing there ... that's just for the description of them. I had my mask not over my nose, 1 of the girls asked me to put it up so I did, she got super rude saying "over your nose" as in ordering me to. I don't mind complying with store policies, I respect that. But the manner that she told me was very rude and appalling to be honest. The other 2 girls then came and starting saying if I didn't comply we would be kicked out! Two of the girls got so close to us talking about how we don't obviously care about others; again as they stood so close to us. My husband told them they were definitely not 6 feet from us. Again they keep going on and on about refusing service to us, as we had our masks. I tried to calm the situation down by telling them we were not trying to be difficult, we had covid last year and in a couple weeks our governor is going to have a no mask mandate. Again, we had our masks on.. as they still stood very close to us. I'm seriously still upset about the situation. I've worked in a grocery store in my younger years and would have never talked to anyone in that manner. It was so unprofessional and confrontational I still can't believe that's how they represent that store. I'm definitely going to share my experience with our friends and family. I can't say enough about how much I love Grocery Outlet Lompoc! The owners Aaron and Alex recently invited teachers to bring our classes for an educational tour behind the scenes. Not only were Aaron & Alex welcoming and friendly to my diverse group of students, but they spoke to them about healthy organic food choices, food safety guidelines and grocery store job skills. Has no one noticed they sell out dated food? Like things way past the expiration date!!! At the same price as food that isn't????? All the beauty products are out dated too and still more expensive then Walmart. The produce I am scared to buy. I don't see the point of this store. They have a bunch of things they are selling for more then I would pay for junk. Everything in this store you can buy else where for cheaper! Fresher! And not out of date! I had a decent experience here. I found deodorant in a special flavor that I can't find anywhere else - Mitchum's Flower Fresh. I've been ordering it online from Amazon. I even found a cute Danskin jacket for just $9.99 (seriously!) for wear at home when it's cold. They have a wide selection of items and you never know what you're going to get. On the down side, I would generally prefer NOT to shop here because they don't pay their employees a living wage. My husband and I feel strongly that this is important and typically get all of our staples at Vons (which is union) or from the Farmer's markets because we think that's where it will best serve the economy. It may seem cruel to drop them a star for that, but I feel that I must. This is an Outlet or last chance store, so I really don't get why someone might be shocked by a few off items. Really, who cares about an expiration date on beauty products? If it's within a year for some items, I'm certain it's still good. read more

I hadn't ventured into a GO at home but while visiting Lompoc I thought it would be a better choice the expensive Vons and Albertsons in town. Surprised to find the variety of things they carry. From healthy items to wine, household goods and types of food. The prices were certainly better than the other stores. I don't understand how an area so agriculture rich has grocery stores with fruits and vegetables from Mexico or other places. Good selection of local (ish) wines. read more

Beware. Warning. Warning. This is a store where the cashier rings up 2 or 3 items when you have, in fact, only one item. When I pointed out the repeated errors, ie. being charged for 2 items when only one item bought, the cashier was so inept and unskilled, she couldn't figure what to do. I suggested a refund of any items not in my cart. The cashier absolutely Refused to provide a simple refund for the extra items she charged. I received No refund. Nothing. That's Theft!! The cashier couldn't even make sense of the tab/receipt. Had no idea how to fix the mess she created by overcharging. Adding insult to injury, the manager is 100% disrespectful, unskilled, obnoxious, highhanded and nasty. These incompetent workers must reflect a dishonest owner. Theft and Diversity/Equity rules here, not merit, decency, honesty or ability. Oh, and I bought some clothes. More Warnings! The clothes were washed and shrunk 2 full sizes. Total loss for me. Waiting patiently in line, four customers ahead of me, cashier is not the fastest at scanning, must be a minor, because the cashier had to call a supervisor to override a liquor purchase for the customer ahead of me. Supervisor comes up, tells the cashier something, looks at the customers behind me and says to go over to check stand 1. Cashier tells me hello and sees that I have a purchase, she asked me to go to check stand 1, now I'm going to have to wait behind 6 customers?! I said "forget it" and left. This isn't the first time that this has happened, I've seen it done to other customers. Fortunately G.O. Isn't the only grocery store in town and the other places have a better selection of meat. I go there because it's two blocks from my home, but once ALDI's opens up, I'll stop going. Why shop somewhere where product is short dated. The other stores won't carry the things that G.O. sells. Why? Because the consumer don't like to buy garbage. It shouldn't be called a bargain market. Leftover Market sounds better. read more
