If you like playing Iron Chef with your menu, this is a great place to get some deals. They have great things in stock everything from healthy to unhealthy but to be expected, their stock changes. So if you fall in love with a product, you had better come back and stock your pantry or freezer because it may or may not be there next time. It's a great place to try brands of products that you've never heard of. Especially the coffee!! Sorry if I hoarded the Tactisquatch one. That stuff is good and affordable. They have better quality/brand breads than what you find at the bigger chains. If you come here for anything, come here for that. The people who work here are super sweet and a joy to interact with. Especially Michelle. It's fun, they tell you how much you saved on your transaction. It feels like winning a game show. Tips: -Watch out in the parking lot. People drive a little nuts here with the Hobby Lobby next door. -If you are coming here for a stock up, don't make the mistake that I did of coming around the breakfast or lunch rush. People like to stop here before or during work to grab food. I try to let everyone with a few items go first but eventually you have to check out before your stuff goes bad, so you'll get dirty looks from other customers. Oops. I forget about this store too often. It has quite a variety. Sometimes the prices are great and sometimes they are average. I have found many items I buy in high end grocery stores at deeply discounted prices. It's great for cheese and meats for charcuterie boards and sometimesI have scored wonderful bottles of wine for great prices. It's hit or miss as their merchandise changes frequently. If you see something you like buy a few as they aren't likely to have the same items on your next visit. If you are vegan they usually have a good selection of vegan cheeses & vegan "dairy" at good prices. The wine selection on this visit was not as good as prior visits and I didn't buy any. I did get eggs for 99¢ and a pound of butter for cheap as well.. Check expiration dates as sometimes they are close. Otherwise, there are bargains to be had if you look. read more

I haven't been to the grocery outlet for some time but had an occasion to stop in..the store was cleaner and more organized than in the past. They have upped thier game as far as new garden section..so many good quality decor items as well as garden essentials like tools..hoses kneeling pads etc. Lines were short and staff very courteous..They also carry organic shelf items plus produce. Selection is decent, but customer service is terrible, especially at the register. Cashiers always refuse to bag for you here and just want you gone. The second you pay they will start scanning the next customers items even if you aren't finished (and I'm not a slow bagger either). This is my first time shopping at the Grocery Outlet Store due to I am staying at a motel right now and this location is very convenient for me across the street . I have received their advertisements in my mailbox also. This later afternoon I drove across the street to the Grocery Outlet Store to do some grocery shopping and pick up some bottled water, paper products, cheese and crackers, JIF extra crunchy peanut butter, whole wheat bread, 4 bottles of Dasani Water, Strawberry Crispy Bars, and Blueberry Lemon Breakfast Bars. I picked out one of their bright red shopping carts and entered into their double doors. Then I stopped by the front cash register. I was greeted by two really friendly employees. These people's names were Linda and Pam. I told them this is my first visit shopping at this Grocery Outlet Store. Linda was very nice and she gave me a $3.00 off coupon to use today with no expiration date on it. I thought this $3.00 off coupon was very helpful from Linda their store manager to save me money on my first shopping trip. Linda gave me really good tips on buying groceries that I can eat in my motel room like Cotton Candy Grapes were on sale for $3.00 and their Strawberry Crispy Rice Bars price is only $2.99, the Blueberry Lemon Bars are $2.99, Dasani Bottled Water the price separately is $3.00 each for 4 , I also bought 2 Extra Crunchers Turkey and Cheese and one Ham and Cheese Crackers for $1.99 each. I ate the Ham snd Cheese Crackers when I got back to my motel room. The paper plates price was $3.99, paper cups is $3.99, And the Plastic Silverware was $2.99. My total cost was $48.25. I was very impressed that Grocery Outlet prices are much cheaper than Walmart Supercenter Store prices. Linda their Store Manager asked me even though I will be leaving the motel in a few days, will I still be one if their new loyal customers? I'm been coming to this store for years...employees are not the best here most of the time rude but I get it, not everyone likes the job but today the cashier crossed the line between rude and racist, I try to buy a bottle of wine giving here my passport and she looks at me and said. well we can take that... we don't take Mexicans here and I said excuse me, she laughed and said we can take your passport we don't take Mexicans. You gotta be pretty foolish to not love this place. 99 cent energy drinks, lana bars for 4.99 a box, health drinks for cheap and they have these philly cheese sausages that are to die for!! The burn ends ones are awesome too. The staff are friendly too. I go in and feel at home. I don't know people's names and they don't mine but we are still friendly or chatty. I just love the steal deals. Again Lana Bars for 4.99! If you don't understand how great that is.. you don't know!! I didn't eat bars like that until working the morning shift. I don't even buy energy drinks anymore on Amazon or from gas stations cause of them. They even carry Ghost and Monster zeros. Another thing they carry liquor too. They have a couple of Japanese bourbons (smooth drink). Overall it's always a great experience. Recently I've been buying turkey's cause I'll jerked (pause it's a Jamaican style seasoning) and smoke em. I'm good from cooking for at least two weeks. That with Mac and; cheese stuffed with those philly cheese sausages I'm a happy camper. If I had a deep freeze I'd buy 4-5 at a time. They are pretty big turkey. So it's a good deal. Love this grocery store. Tons of food & non-food items every week that change constantly. Love the massive wine section, which also contains liquor - and a lot of liquor bottles you won't recognize. The fact that they carry so many obscure brands is amazing to me and you won't find the same thing in most big-box grocery stores. The staff is friendly and prices are GREAT - I mean fantastic. Grocery Outlet is getting really expensive. It's expiration date is often not optimal.. which is part of the unsaid agreement. You pay less for food closer to expiration. But when it's just as expensive or more than a retail market, that's a deal breaker for me as a patron. Check the prices & expiration date. OMG!!!! We need a store like this in IL. I saw it on the way to work and was like oh I shelled out a lot of money on food at another local market and could have saved here. I went in after 4:30pm and this store did not disappoint at all! The staff were nice. I'm going to tell you what really sold me on this store. The isle with all the protein shake powders and different health powders and the prices were not bad. They have a wide selection of dried fruits and nuts. There are frozen foods and produce all at to me reasonable prices. I keep hearing their ads, so when in the area, I stopped in. This is an inhospitable, disorganized dump of a store; think a dirty Dollar Tree for groceries. I checked out pricing on several things I generally buy at WinCo. Prices were about the same or higher. If you think Aldi is a ridiculous, poorly stocked store (as I do), you'll find this even more ugly, with haphazard stocking. I would never shop here. read more

I will premise this review by saying, my preferred eating plan is expensive- I eat strictly low carb/sugar-free, grain-free at home. I'm always on the hunt for better prices on ingredients that fit my lifestyle. Grocery Outlets are the only stores where I tolerate meandering up and down every aisle, though at this particular location, I can pretty much only buy decent pantry items.... I'll pop in here once a month to see what staples I can find... I never shop to a list here; what I bake depends on what they have that given shopping day. For example, last month I found almond flour, today I found coconut flour and cauliflower flour. White monk fruit powder last month, brown this month. The beauty items are much better at the Mira Mesa location (my 4-star place). The snacks and organic section are amazing there too... I can easily drop 300$ in one trip there. For perspective, I spend about 60$ because I never find much here. Overall, if you are LCHF, you can find some decent staples (and sometimes they have 100% baked cheese crunchies, or Paleo sausages), but you just gotta spend 20 minutes on the hunt for 'em! We're new to the Oceanside/Carlsbad area, where we moved from they didn't have the Grocery Outlets. I absolutely love grocery shopping my husband says I spend to much but it gets used. The Outlet will open you up to new items you never knew you needed or existed in some cases. They have really good deals on organic foods and gluten free options which is so helpful when you go to a normal store and it's 2x as much I tend to grab the non organic. The employees at this locations are AMAZING, their all so dang sweet to my toddler who loves to ask questions and help "hand" items over. If you like grocery shopping check them out, you'll probably find a new item you didn't know you needed ;) read more

Good selection of very cheap compared to other stores vegan items . I spend about $300 but would be $800 elsewhere because I stock up on good deals . My 4stars is the terrible customer service today with a curly haired women didn't say one word to me except " want to buy bags " even though I had my fabric bags already right in front of her lol also bagged all my own groceries as she pushed the next customers groceries into mine . I would say it's very similar to 99 cent city and Big Lots because there's a bunch of diverse "stuff" to pick through. It's definitely worth an hour of your time. Know this! - Trippy music blasting throughout the store, circa 50 and 60's. Major head trip.. - Some of the notable brands are Harris Ranch Beef, Scharffen Berger chocolate, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. - CHECK expiration dates. It's hard for me to understand why people shop here. The whole concept of selling near expired food at a discount is questionable to begin with. I mean, I guess they found a niche that no other grocery store was willing to stoop to, but for the consumer (or at least for me) it's slightly gross. It would be one thing if the prices knocked your socks off. I've been guilty of buying out an entire stock of bagels, bread, and cereal when they are close to expiration and a store offers them at deep discount. But the prices at Grocery Outlet just aren't that great. Butter, for example, is $3.99 at Grocery Outlet but $2.99 at both Aldi and Food 4 Less. Why would I pay $1 more for butter that expires this week? The same was true for sour cream and milk. It's illogical. I'm particularly irritated because today when I went in the manager refused to honor an incorrectly posted price for an item. They apparently stocked the item on the wrong shelf over the wrong ticket, but it was surprising to me that they wouldn't honor the price posted. It seemed to me like pretty shortsighted obstinacy on their part... I was in there with my four kids and pregnant belly; clearly I buy a lot of food for the house. They saved $2 but lost the opportunity for thousands over the next 18 years. It's not like I loved the store before, but after today I surely won't ever be back. For the positive reviewers below, have you not heard of Aldi?? Or Food 4 Less? Give them a try: food doesn't have to expire tomorrow to be purchased at a discount. read more
