If you have ever been distracted at the check out counter and left an item or two behind you will be happy if it was at this Grocery Outlet. I didn't realize until two days after shopping there that I was missing a couple of items. I returned with my receipt but didn't expect much. The staff were more than happy to help. They have a log of all items left behind. All I had to do was tell them the day and they told me to go and get the items. No problem! I have always been happy with the staff, the cleanliness and the products at Grocery Outlet Poway. read more

I like Grocery Outlet but this one in Poway is just okay. Not much selection here, compared to other Grocery Outlet stores. I guess since it's in a nice area, I thought they would have better stuff. Sopped in while waiting for an appointment in the area. I found some single origin coffee for $5 a pound! Although i had not heard of the Copper Moon brand before, it's pretty unheard of to find single origin coffee for $5 a pound. They had Guatemala, Brazil, Uganda, and Colombia, know i like Guatemala but i wanted to try the Colombia. I have to say it makes a pretty smooth non acidic cup of coffee. In the past I've stopped in and got a large bag of chips for a pretty reasonable price too. I don't usually shop at Grocery Outlet, because there isn't one in my area, but if i find myself near one i'll be sure to stop in again to check it out. read more

I usually visit this local store when I'm in the area, and I'm always impressed! The store has a wide selection of unique items. What really made my shopping experience stand out, though, was the exceptional customer service. One charming worker in particular (Johnny) always made my shopping experience pleasant & enjoyable. This company refused me and my service dog service. I do have an off-leash service Doug due to the fact that it interferes with his tasking and it could cause me harm. We was in there on the 20th just before 3 to get 2 waters. One for me one for my SD (service dog). I came into the store and got about 20 ish feet in the door. I was told to put my dog on a leash. I was nice I explained he is an off leash SD. ADA States that if a leash or a tether interferes with the dog's tasking. I keep walking in to grab to waters one for me and one for him. MY DOG WAS AT A HEEL AT MY AIDE THE WHOLE TIME. She yelled at me GET CONTOL ON YOUR DOG! I Looked at my dog which was at a hill next to me looked at her and looked back down at my dog and then back athen she said grab your dog's leash and get your dog under control. I explain that the leash he has on is not an actual leash it is a tasking Tool for him. But because of all the yelling and I'm getting flustered. I offered to show her The Ada law regarding Service dogs without leashes. She could care less and did not want to look that I was being escorted out of the store and one of the other customers looked at me and told me I was wrong I told you I hear I can show you the law that says I'm right. The manager told her no don't don't get involved she's lying he has to have a leash and so don't get involved.. my dog did miss an alert that my heart rate was going up. When the lady walked up me to escort me out he put himself between her and I. He felt she was a threat for me. I left kept trying to jump on me with no weight either no weight. Trying to get me to sit down. As I walked back by Grocery outlet I stuck my head bagain and I wanted to get the manager's a name and a second manager yelled at me and told me that I'm not welcome there unless my dog is put on a leash. And the other manager came up behind me which I don't do people coming up behind Me. I just offered I have the 88 website up on my phone I can show you the least laws so for future reference this doesn't happen to another disabled person my dog is an alert because of all the yelling and everything because he was focusing on you because he was trying to determine if you were a thread or not to me. She told me no I don't need to see I already know you're wrong. I told you oh okay so then I guess the hospita, Doctor's office, ambulances, dentist, Restaurants guess are all wrong that I guess for letting me come in without a leash. I had an appointment to get my hair done. i went in to get 2 waters one for myself and one for my SD. I entered and a manager (heavier set black lady with a blue bandana on her head. I explained that he is a trained off leash SD. have a leash on him would interfere with his tasking. he ask has a 1 foot leash on him. This is an alert tool for him. If i grabbed it like they we demanding i could have missed an alert. I offered to show the manager the ada website where it state if a leash would interfere with the dogs tasking the SD must be under the owners control by voice, or by other means. she blew me off telling me that she knows the rules and that's not true. as were talking i had made it about 50 feet from her. she yelled MAMA GET YOUR DOG UNDER CONTROL! (since i entered the store my dog was at a heel). i look at my dog that is at a heel. she told me to grab his leash to gain control of him. I use voice/ whistle control. I was kicked out of the store because i would not grab the leash on him (This is an alert tool for him) , This encounter cause me to have panic attack. Hunter missed the alert because i was getting yelled at. he was focus on the lady yelling. he was trying to determine. if she was going to be a threat and hurt me. my heart rate was in the 140 when i left the store and was have chest pain. he goes into hospitals with me, ambulance, doctors office, dentist office, food places, disneyland, movies, never with a leash. There was a second Manager also that got involved in this mess. she was tall, skinny, with short brown hair. I OFFERED TO SHOW THEM THE ADA LAW THEY COULD CARE LESS. If you're looking to save money and you love strange and unsuccessful products than Grocery Outlet is the best place in San Diego. If you're worried about being seen in an outlet grocery well then feel free to spend your husband's money at Whole Foods or Vons.. For everyone else, this is a better option than Sprouts and 99 cent store in many cases. In fact, I've seen a lot of items that are on sale at sprouts being liquidated here. Some of my best finds are Desserts and Specialty drinks. Every week I look forward to seeing what new things they have in stock. Yay! I'm a fan of Grocery Outlet. This isn't somewhere I go when I want something specific. Like Big Lots or Costco, they have what they have when they have it. Interesting stuff at very good prices. I've had great luck with chocolate, snacks, breakfast/protein bars, and the like. Employees have always been nice. Just be careful to check expiration dates. I'm not sure why I don't stop here more...guess it seems I'm often on my way somewhere else when I'm in the area. I definitely need to go more often. read more

For whatever reason I hadn't really shopped here much till recently. The long lines in the other stores were frustrating as well as the crowds for only a few quick items. I've stopped in here several times recently, usually getting a cart full of items vs the few i items I intended to buy only. Prices are bargain deals, very reasonable. The last few times I have checked out the young man cashiering sincerely makes you feel like a valued customer, and appears to love his job, I believe his name is Tommy, though all the staff seems very helpful and respectful to the customers. If you want to save money in items such shampoos, conditioners, body cremes, etc, this is the place. Brand names 3 times cheaper than regular stores. And nothing is expired here, even though many people I talked about the Grocery Outlet in East Village (first I visited) thought that they were selling expired merchandise. Even the fruits and veggies are super fresh. I love this store, super clean, big, well illuminated, good signage, there is nothing I can complain about. If you usually spend a lot in hair products elsewhere, you can get L'Oreal conditioners and other good brands as well as argan oils for much less than even CVS!. I also enjoy the smell of lavender and organic herbs and flowers, and they have body wash gels with those aromas in a vast array of brands. The classical soaps made of olive oil are also present in the beauty shelf. I will definitively be stopping by frequently to see what they have at least once a month, as the products keeps rotating (if you are loyal to a specific brand, maybe forget this place). read more

I've been a loyal customer to this location. Willing to drive from northern part of Rancho bernardo until last Monday. I bought some dried mangos for my small kid. He ate one and I could tell he was sick then After I saw in the package I could see mold. I returned to the store the next day. The cashier was rather inept and told me to get another package. I asked her to check other packages bc most likely they are moldy and they shld prevent from others from buying and getting sick. She processed my return. I got back in line with other items to purchase. There was a l9ng line and only one cashier. Then when I was up I asked for some sort of courtesy credit for having to drive so far due to them selling a moldy product. Keep in mind that nobody pulled thse from the area where they were being sold. She called a manager. The Manger first said she coul give me a credit But then she didn't know how to process it on their cash register and register and since she didn't figure it out she gave up and told me sorry we can't do it so there was a lot of back-and-forth I asked for the district manager to call me or for his contact number I still yet to hear back. Now I understand why things are less expensive there because they are moldy or expired expired and their staff simply doesn't care. read more

I've been here four times so far. The thing to remember is if they have Something you love. Get more than one because you might not see it again if it all for a long time. I was floored when I saw Hellmann's mayonnaise!! Haven't seen that since I left the East Coast. I tend to check prices take pictures and take notes and compare other stores in town. Then I know the best place to go for what I need. They buy stuff opportunistically which means they find overstocks and lots and buy really cheap because sometimes the dates are a week away! So. Check dates. There is stuff I haven't seen before, stuff I have seen before, and some of the cereal prices are amazing! The kind of stuff they have: shirts, headphones, shampoo and cleaning supplies condiments, canned food, baking supplies, produce, meat, eggs, milk, ice cream and other frozen, cereal and chocolate and booze.... Just not a huge selection of each kind. People are really friendly and they're really funny: if you save more than you spent...sometimes they ring a big bell. I have two teenage boys at home that are eating enough pizza rolls to feed an army and this is the best place to get them! LOL I'd say give the place a try, But go to browse, the first time, not because you're looking for something in particular and make a note of what you see that you already use, and its price. If you're armed with notes of what you pay somewhere else... And have a spending limit, You're golden. NOTE: Also watch for any canned goods from CHINA. In the news these have had recalls and issues in the past (not necessarily the ones here) and China has lower standards than the US. I love dark chocolate Silk, and I can't find the quart size.. Better get out of the way sprouts because Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Poway is putting you to shame in the organic business. The owner of this particular Grocery Outlet is highly attuned to the healthy eating and organic markets and orders as much for his store as possible. These stores used to be like a canned food store now there are entire aisles stocked with purely organic products and vegan and gluten free. Up-to-date and diverse vitamin and Nutrition department with supplements. It is a bit like Costco in respect to the fact that if you see something you like there you need to get stocked up because they might not get it back. All of us Costco people know how that works so it shouldn't be too tough to understand. read more

Today I decided to stop in on my way to home goods just to check & see if they had any good chocolate or cute Easter stuff for my kids Easter baskets- chocolate yes- Easter I wasn't impressed at all- I decided to take a quick look around but I couldn't do a big shop like I normally would when I go in here because I wouldn't be going right home afterwards- typically it's very easy to spend $300 for my family because there are so many good things to choose from- but today I only had a small hand basket. I decided to peruse the aisle with supplements, shampoos & soaps because I can often find some interesting things that I have either seen before at Whole Foods or that I haven't seen before but turn out to be really nice. I found some large bottles of shampoo that looked like they might be nice for just $7.99 each, only issue was that I've never heard of the brand before so I decided to look up the unknown brand via my iPhone- I couldn't find any reviews only saw them posted on eBay- I decided to try them anyway- put them in my hand basket and returned my phone to my tiny little backpack that I typically use when I'm working out or when I need to be hands free with my kids. Next thing I know I'm being approached by a middle aged dark haired male clerk. He immediately asks me what I just put in my bag, I looked at him puzzled & replied; "my phone!" Then he says that I look suspicious. I responded "you think I am stealing?!" Then proceeded to spill open my bag and show him every little side pocked I can so he can clearly see I have a wallet, a ton of receipts, some hand sanitizer wipes (that they don't sell) a mask & my keys. So I get that maybe they're having a issue in the store with shoplifting since Covid hit, but the worst part of this was that the man continued to be rude and give me dirty looks - and he never apologized- finally I was so upset I asked to speak to a manager- walked to the front to tell one of the managers (and all employees at this point all gathered around) and while the guy left the store he shouted from the door at me; "you look suspicious!!" Needless to say I can't see myself shopping here again. I think I'll just drive over to Mira Mesa instead. And I definitely wont be telling the other moms in Del Sur that they should try out this store. You've got to be kidding me. Luckily I'm not a sue happy person.. read more

So this grocery outlet doesn't seem to enforce masks in any way shape or form. This would be the third time we've encountered people not wearing masks. Everyone including kids had theirs on minus a few individuals. This is the third time and three strikes and you're out grocery outlet. I'm obsessed with GO, like literally I go once a week just to walk around & see what great finds I come across. If you are looking for some specific say Heinz Ketchup it's not the place to go because they may or may not have that in stock. Think of it is as a Marshall's or TJ Maxx of Grocery stores. I gave 1 star only and let me tell you why... I came in to this Grocery Outlet Poway location simply because I was in the area. I usually go to the Mira Mesa store (where as soon as you walk in they greet you and you get to interact with the owners since they also work on the salesfloor). Also the layout of the Poway store is so confusing, I was so lost, the merchandising does not make sense in a way. But then again this is a different owner so whatever works for them. Anyway, back to the main reason for this review...I went to the fridge section and I spotted the creamer that I usually get and its of course a lot cheaper than other stores, so I had to get it. I saw this lady that is working right beside the door that I needed to open for the creamer, so I politely said to her, "uhm, excuse me please, if I can open this door a bit so I can get a creamer", and no response, so I said it again politely and still nothing from the lady, so I finally moved a bit closer behind her and said the same thing, and she finally looked NOT at me but at the door she had opened and snatched that door to close a bit and I felt something hitting me also not sure if it was like a lanyard or something in her hand. Then she stood there waiting for me to get what I needed. Then after I closed the door she ooened her door all the way again and before I left that section I thanked her and again nothing from her. She acted like I was in her way and how dare me stop her from what she was doing. And I'm like, we are both in the retail biz, I work at a store too with high customer traffic, this is a small store compare to where I work. So I met all kinds of customers but never did I show them that kind of customer service, she was just plain rude, ignorant, and lack of respect for the individual. Although my visit yesterday at the Poway store does not stop there... So, I got other things too, then head to the register to pay, I saw there were already 3 customers ahead of me and one of them are yelling for help at the register, apparently there is no one at the cash register to help them out. And I saw this other lady in the freezer aisle (she was stocking). So I waved at her and saying "excuse me", and nothing yet again...so i came closer to her, and she saw me, so she took of off her airpod from her right ear (I guess it is alright for the owner to let their employees to use airpods while working, listening to music or who knows maybe talking to someone while working, must be nice), and I told her that we needed someone at the register. So what she did, i didnt see it but I heard it was more like she dropped slam the box that she was working on and walked towards the front but before she got there the cashier was already there, then the freezer lady looked at me and said, "there is someone there" like she was saying "duh". And Im thinking to myself, "yeah, now there is b*+€#". And also, this is not the first time that this happened with the rudeness and poor customer service skills. Here is the thing though, looks like it keeps happening. If you look and read the otger review. Obviously, the owner do not care. And that is a shame. The only one that is holding this store together is the young lady at the cash register, she was friendly and that compensate for the bad experience I had with the fridge beast and the freezer monster. One has to understand the concept of Grocery Outlet to appreciate what they do. They are not the regular supermarket, they buy merchandise/products that are "over-runs" and selling it cheaper to the end consumer. This concept is brilliant! Carry on the good work. read more

I moved to North County last year but never quite made it over to Poway to check this GO out. Well, I finally got a chance recently and wow! I was so used to the very small Grocery Outlet (which is #1 in local sales) near my old place in Point Loma, that I luxuriated in the Poway store's expansive interiors. Poway has parking-lots of it! Really big freezer space too. The snack isle is not cramped at all and loaded with good stuff. Produce is spread out too. I had to get used to the different store layout from Point Loma but that was not hard. The best part: looks like hardly any shoplifters here that I could discern. The one in Point Loma had the homeless and crackheads from Mariner's Cove literally tripping over you as they ran out of the store with their ill-gotten goods. Poway has an alert security guard hovering around the parking lot which is another good thing. I am not too proud to shop at an Outlet store. I love all the unusual items found for sale here. I remember when the GO first started back in the 1990's in the South Bay. Then it was called The Canned Food Store and helped this single mom stretch a dollar and feed 2 hungry kids. If you are in need of a nice gift for any reason, this GO has a nice assortment of green plants, including affordable orchids and cactus plus a card rack with nice cards for all occasions for only $1.99. 5 YELP STARS for helping downtrodden San Diegans save money! read more

my first time ever coming to this store and the fist time i was trying to buy something and i dont wanna be racist or get it in the wrong way this black man was following me to aisle to aisle i was getting scared that he might do something to me i didn't even know if he was a customer or a employee because he dident have a uniform. later i found out that he was a employee and also found out that he was following me beacuse he thought i was going to steal. i also dont recommend this place beacuse i bought a coconut when I opened it it was rotten and it tast bad. I went to go and return it and they said that they couldn't give me a refund. I just think that this store is so bad yea I know that the items are cheap like how is this store still up. Selection is ok, prices are ok but the customer service sucks. My first time ever going here and after the cashier scanned my items he threw a bag at me and said "you're all set" then started scanned the items of the customer behind me mixing up all of our groceries. As a stay-home mom, I'm always on the lookout for good deals... I want affordable prices without giving up on good quality, so when I first discovered Grocery Outlet I couldn't believe some of the deals I was getting! I used to go this store at least once a week when my son was still in preschool. I was such a regular that Louie, the store owner, chased me down the aisles a couple of time to thank me for shopping there ^_^. In my opinion, this outlet basically operates with different companies that either have surplus or have defects/damage in the packaging and they are then able to sell it to us at a fraction of the regular prices. With that said you should look carefully at all the expiration dates because many times I've purchased items that would expire in a couple of months. Also, if you see an item you like/need make sure you stock up because you might not see it again. For me, I was so excited to find toilet paper that I KNOW cost $29 elsewhere for $9.99 here. I must have bought like 4 cases at one time because my SUV could only fit so much (don't worry, I went back for more ^_^). It was CHARMIN toilet paper guys!!!!! And batteries are also a great deal!! $4.99 for 16 AA batteries!!! And they are good batteries!! Farmer John bacon is cheaper here than Walmart!! The produce, dairy and meat departments are very limited so I can't say that this would be my only grocery store, but Grocery Outlet has definitely become one of the staples in my household.
