This is my first time at this Grocery Outlet. I came just to grab some water, since I forgot my water bottle at home. I ended picking up 2 boxes of Fiber One donuts (chocolate and strawberry. Never knew Fiber One made donuts, I used to love eating the bars..AND I never seen these at my regular GO location), water, and a bromeliad (plant). I was impressed by the variety of beautiful and healthy looking plants, the well lit and well stocked aisles, it was pretty clean as well. The cashier that assisted me was pleasant. If I was in the area again and needed to go to Grocery Outlet, I would definitely would stop by again. :) read more

Approached by God knows what in the parking lot. Had work badge on and my backpack which contains a laptop obviously. Didn't feel like the parking lot was safe to leave it in the car. Stopped by the security guard with an "excuse me" and was told the backpack had to stay with him. He's seated (of course) playing on his phone...yeah I'm going to leave my backpack next to you right next to the entrance. Maybe if you seemed like you took your job seriously I would have reconsidered. I went back to the car and left my husband to grab a few things. They didn't have anything we were looking for. Approached again on the way to the car by a man who was not in his right mind. Just another "Vallejo Special" kind of day. Obviously won't be back. I saw plenty of other folks in there with their own tote bags etc who weren't pulled and asked to leave them at the door. I guess they KNOW the security guard or the staff personally? The grocery outlet bargain store. It's a funny mixture of heavily discounted staples like Rice Krispies, and high end items, such as kale chips, sprouted, seeds, and chocolate treats with no sugar in it. The higher end products look like they are aimed at diabetics . There is a fresh food section with vegetables, meats, fruits. Some items in the fresh section are indeed, a bargain, but the rest of it looks like its regular price. The store is not big enough to carry everything that you would want but it's got the basics, and there's a decent selection of discounted items. Usually, when I visit the store, I end up getting a few herbs (which are usually discounted compared to other stores). I end up, skipping the more substantial vegetables, the meats, and the dairy. Honestly, with this particular store, you'll never really know when there's an item that's due to expire tomorrow. So I just skip entire categories of fresh foods where I don't want to deal with this. This means I end up buying things like snacks, bottles of wine and random sale items like soap and shampoo. I would never shop with an ingredient list from a recipe and expect to find all the ingredients on the list. Also, items will stay in stock for a while, disappear then reappear. Finally, the stock of a catagory such as spices could span brands from Whole Foods to McCormicks to brands that I've never heard of. The store is clean and neat and customer service was cheerful. Given the funny distribution of goods I'd say it was a good place to look for discounted items but doesn't quite cut it as my go to supermarket. Still they have fun items at a low price. Oddly, it's a good place to put a little pizzazz in your grocery shopping. The Keto cherry chocolate chip ice cream was so good it didn't last long enough for me to take a photo. The pumpkin seed crunch is mildly sweet and crunchy. A nice discovery. The sprouted pumpkin seeds were somewhat bland. A bit of salt would fix that. The endangered species raspberries and chocolate was more chocolate and the raspberries were barely detectable. It was high quality chocolate but I prefer more raspberries The price for the V8 is on the receipt. The price struck me as a nice sale price. read more

This location has a great NOSH section, new coffee mostly every week, and a wide variety of meats and veggies! Contrary to some of my other reviews, I do hate posting negative reviews; primarily because I hate to actually have to sit down and go out of my way and write something negative about someone or someplace because as quality control consultant, that's my job and I don't want to do this on my free time. But i'm writing this review in the hopes that the new owners will see it and institute some sort of customer service training. I am not sure her name is Patricia but she's an older African-American woman around 5"7-5"9. She could really use some customer service training. Each interaction I've had with this cashier has been unpleasant. Her attitude is abysmal, she never smiles or makes eye contact and treats every transaction like she's doing me a favor. Now do I expect her to break out into some kind of TikTok song and dance? No. But I do expect any worker I come into contact with at this location to be pleasant and welcoming. That's just basic customer service. I shop here because I love the prices. I love the selection of goods, especially the unique and out of the ordinary finds AND because I want to patronize a store that's in my community. But when I see her, I have a great remorse spending my money here. I don't know. I come here once in a while. Never had a problem and have found items here i've never seen in other stores. Usually not too many people, and I've had nice conversations with other customers. Appreciate that this truly has a neighborhood feel. My only complaint is that you need to watch where you park in the parking lot because the cart may not be able to go to your car due to the wheels locking. Anyways, will be coming here again since it's convenient to the freeway. read more

This is THE worst store to shop at in Vallejo. I honestly don't know what possessed me to go back there after countless times of being ripped off by cashiers ringing up double items or items being scanned higher than advertised. And, after the last time when the machismo security guard wanted to stop someone from stealing and subsequently locked ALL the shoppers in against their will!!!! But that was over a year ago and I needed some last minute items so decided to give them another chance. Same security guard stops me at the door and tells me o can't bring in my reusable shopping bags and took them from me to leave up front while I shopped. This pissed me off but I grabbed the few items I needed and went to checkout. The cashier scans my blueberries and of course there's no price coming up. He radios to someone for a price check and they tell him and then he goes back and forth for FIVE minutes with them stating the price is too low and to check again. THREE different times the guy on the radio tells him it's $2.99 and the cashier REFUSES to believe him. At this point there's a line holdup and I'm fed up. I told him forget it, that I didn't want the blueberries. And yes I said it angrily because duh I was angry that my time is being wasted. Like it's not my fault this store doesn't have its stuff together!!!! Anyway the cashier tells me he has the right to refuse service like that's a flex. Lol. I just grabbed my confiscated bags and left the 4 other items there and left. SMH. Never again. read more

Honestly, this store is rough if at all possible, go to the other one on Admiral Callahan ... This one is nearby so when I need something quick, it was always quick ... They have a hard time with shoplifters and on several occasions I've hope that security guard and people block when they're trying to run out . When I visited as always, I wear a bandanna , staff knows me, and there was no harm for a quick grab of cranberry juice .... Young guy in there says boss , you gotta pull down the bandanna. We don't have those here if you need a face guard I'll get one . I guess the younger generation has gotten away from Sir , or ma'am, but I'm 60 years old, mixed ethnicity, and being called a boss is derogatory and condescending ! Well, the pandemic is over and biz is back to normal at the neighborhood Gross Out, so I'm updating my review. I was pretty upset about the COV-idiots that I invariably met there but I don't think about that anymore when I go in, I just get my cheap goodies and get out. This place is fine as far as local grocery stores go, and great for a Gross Out - clean and pretty well stocked. I've been shopping at this store for 3 years and the security guard continuously harasses my family and I accusing us of stealing with no proof. He told us we were not allowed in the store when he was proven wrong about stealing accusations. The manager however told us we could shop there still but he has an issue with us. He's irascible, he threatened us and he's just over all very unprofessional. He didn't offer us an apology once realizing he was wrong he asked us to leave the store as if we weren't paying customers. This store would be a lot better with a good security officer. read more

I got discriminated for my service dog. I went in about an hour before closing just to grab a quick snack. The security guard comes up to me and my partner very aggressively and says "aye no dogs in here" we've spoken to him times before and he's seen us come in a number amount of times with no issue. He stated that my dog was dirty and was not welcome and that we needed to leave the store or one of us stand outside with the dog, keep in mind it's 8pm in VALLEJO a not very safe area. We told him he's a service pet in training as he's only 5 months only and not only did he assume we did not need a service dog but he proceeded to discriminate against my partner saying "oh yea then what does he service then?" Very rudely not only is he not allowed to ask us because he's not a police officer nor was my dog making any type of disturbance. He then proceeded to say "if that dog is still in training then he's not a service dog". This place needs a better trained security guard because that man is very disrespectful and negligent. read more

I was a regular customer for at least 2 years, shopping there once a week. Today I went there for a few items. I paid for my items and as I was about to exit the store, I was stopped by the security guard and one of the store owners. The security guard said that they needed to speak with me. So I politely obliged. They showed me three photos and asked, is this you? I took a closer look at the photos and said yes that's me. They accused me of stealing on the day those photos were taken. When I asked them what did I steal? And when was that? They said that wasn't important. REALLY???? When I said I come here all the time, I patronize this store! They said yes we know you come here. I said, I don't steal and that I have no reason to steal. I asked them again if they can tell me what I had stolen. They just stared at me. I said, sometimes I come in and if I don't see what I'm looking for then I leave. When I asked them again, what did I steal? In shock I asked so now what? you're gonna watch me every time I come in? The security guard said no you're not allowed back in our store because you stole from us. I vaguely remembered that day, and I had my own bag with me and I left when I didn't see what I was looking for so when I told them that I didn't buy anything that day, the security guard said it's because you stole from us . People! Please DO NOT SHOP THERE! It's very sad that people who honestly patronize this store is wrongly accused of stealing! My question, Why didn't they stop me if they suspected it that day? They sure did follow me around to get those photos! 3 photos but can't prove anything! I want to support and shop in my home town, but they don't want my business! I've tried to support this store for since they opened. But I'm pretty much done. I used to enjoy the 'NIOSH' aisle. Natural and organic is really import to me. They used to have a good selection or organic snacks, pantry items, sauces, soups, etc. But it's all gone. No more organic chips, no more fun new organic discoveries. The entire aisle is now filled with bags of weird extract powders. No idea what they are thinking but it is disappointing. The owners need to change the heading of the aisle to 'bags of powdered stuff.' I am running out of reasons to shop there :( read more

This was our go to store for years Great buys and deals. We have been waiting for the store to get back into stock since the management change but the shelves still tlook like the store is going out of business. It has been well over a year since the change. The check out lines seem to take a lot longer. I have walked in there with a list and had to leave because I could not find anything on my list. This is my absolute favorite location! They receive a good assortment of items - but grab it when you see it! With Grocery Outlets, some items are not staples, and will be gone once they run out. Whenever I go, the store is clean and organized. Things not out of place. They also carry a good variety of vegetarian and vegan products (even beyond the health food aisle). The staff is pretty friendly and I've heard good things from them about the owner. Overall love this location and visit it pretty frequently for specific items I cant find in other stores. read more

I was in the checkout line with my boyfriend and a security guard from the marina vista apartments was in line behind us and all of sudden he began to threaten my boyfriend, screaming at the top of his lungs for NO reason. We didn't say anything to him or look at him at all for him to threaten him. He was calling me names as well. This cheap ghetto store is the epitome of trash food, trash customer service and garbage groceries. First of all the prices aren't that low. Everything is expired(check the dates if you didn't know). Some fake looking security guard stopped me at the door because I have a small man bag for personals and money. Couldn't fit more then a couple bags of gum in there. This fake security guard said "you can't bring your bag inside the store, you have to leave it at a register." Do you do this to every woman in the store? I don't think so. They need to shut this trash location down, they just judge you when you come through the doors anyway. I would never trust anyone in this store to watch my bag. The management has a lot of room for improvement. Not very customer savvy. I was a former cashier there and was told by one of the supervisors that I may think I'm helping but I'm really not helping when I would bring the expiration dates to customers attention. Really have to watch that at this store. They do not seem to care whether people return there to shop. They should've gotten their act together by now, it's been several months now that they acquired the store. It's unsanitary. Trash is always over abundant in the parking lot. The owner lacks public relations skills & is often degrading and demeaning when dealing with people. Maybe they will get their act together but I wouldn't count on it. read more

First time here, I almost fainted from REVERSE sticker shock. The site sat empty for a decade after Safeway pulled out. G.O. came in, remodeled upgraded, (jobs there, ya know), franchise has changed from its startup owner to Jon and Sheila (? I think.) They work right along with all the other employees--all local hires, by the way. 22 people (I believe) bringing home a paycheck today because they treat people right. The owners practice what they preach and have a long background in retail. OK, so they're good people. What's inside? It reminds me of discount grocers in Europe, like Aldi or Lidl. You may not find everything you are looking for *exactly* on every visit, but you'll find almost everything you need and most of what you want. Expect to pay anywhere from 20% to 50% off what you'd pay at Safeway. The place is clean--cleaner than the local Safeway (it's also newer, so that could be part of it). A shopper from Marin County would find the place a little like the Twilight Zone. Something's strange, but they wouldn't be able to figure out what it is until they got through the check-out. BIG DISCOUNTS. The meats are pre-packaged from big suppliers for the most part. It doesn't have a butcher shop in the back. But they are fresh. The produce is fresh and much of it is organic. They have a NOSH section which is exclusively organic products. Cosmetics, soaps, shampoos: Huge discounts. Dairy is pretty good, selection wise, though I sometimes have difficulty finding plain greek yogurt. Lunch meats choice is sometimes limited. Smoked salmon: CHEAP!! For awhile, under the old owners, you had to eyeball the expiration dates, but that issue has disappeared now. Truthfully, I cannot think of any reason NOT to shop here. If they don't have exactly what you want, you can always go to another big grocery and pick that up. The savings you get from G.O. will more than pay for your time and trouble going to another market for those 1 or 2 items they don't have. Oh, one more thing. Maybe because of its location, there has been a pretty high incidence of shoplifting or attempted shoplifting. Local kids and some local druggies/alcoholics mostly. I really think it's a shame that people would come in and steal from and hurt a business that is doing a great deal in terms of employment and the local (read that neighborhood) economy.
