Food was good! This is the first truck in any city that I have been to with my husband or any Mexican food spot with brick and mortar too that I have been with my husband and he said he would go back to- hands down without hesitation. You do not know what kind of accolade that is from that man. My daughter told me about this truck a few times so we finally went, everybody got burritos, steak super burritos. I got in shrimp quesadilla when I say everything was good. Nobody complained and it was a plentiful helping. The only drawback is that it wasn't very organized when I walked up to order. And it was very expensive, I think I spent eighty bucks. That's like twenty dollars a person to eat from a truck.Go figure.

Super Burrito-Carne Asada

As a Yelp reviewer-I have given myself a few side quests-I wanna find and rank the best maple bar-I want to find and rank the best ramen shop-I want to find and rank the best golf driving range-but none of those are as important to me as my quest to find and rank the best carne asada burrito in Sacramento and the Bay Area-with this quest in mind-my travels took me to La Piñata Taqueria in Vallejo. In social media circles I kept hearing that this was the best burrito in NorCal-my brother who lives near Vallejo also highly recommend La Piñata as the best burrito he has ever had-so I came into this with pretty high expectations. Admittedly I went into this a little blind-so when I drove out there,I couldn't find the place and then I realized it was a food truck rather than a brick and mortar-that's fine,I was just a little thrown off by that fact. Its located on Broadway in Vallejo-not the greatest part of town I've ever been to,but hey if the burrito is good-that trumps everything else. I decided to go with the Super Carne Asada Burrito($15.00)-that comes with beans, rice, sour cream, pico de gallo& salsa-as usual I got the rice on the side.I also got 2 carne asada tacos($3.00 each).Technically they do have a sitting area but I wouldn't recommend eating there-it's much more of an order your food and go kind of place-it's located across the street from Vallejo High School and there is just a lot of foot traffic not conducive to a peaceful meal-better off at home. Ok once I got this burrito home the 1st thing I noticed was the toasted tortilla-I love when burritos have toasted tortillas-that is something that all my current favorite burrito shops have in common at this time.Once I finally started eating this burrito-yeah I got the hype immediately-it was flawless-the carne asada was probably the 2nd best carne asada I've ran across so far-perfect seasoning-perfect balance of savory and citrus-their mixture of pico de gallo and salsa and crema just added so flawlessly to the perfect carne asada and toasty tortilla-yeah this burrito didn't even need me to add their salsa to the burrito-it was that good. I knew the tacos were going to be fire because they were pretty packed with that great carne asada and I was right-for light eaters, the tacos are a perfect vehicle to try the incredible food they are making at this food truck-I highly recommend them. Oh almost forgot-I asked for the rice on the side on my burrito as I do at every burrito shop and holy smokes-they gave so much rice-that was almost enough to satisfy most hungers and it tasted really good-not 100% sure what seasonings this spot use,but they got it down-they are all about the flavor-what more can you ask for. In closing-I truly enjoyed this spot and it rocketed up the charts as my 2nd favorite carne asada burrito and best one outside of SF-so if u ever find yourself in Vallejo and can make your way to La Piñata-I'd highly recommend trying out their burritos as I truly do believe they are serving the highest quality burritos I've found at any food truck so far.....the quest continues though.

Tacos de suadero. Extra crispy.

Always a good day when you can indulge in the best burrito in the Bay Area. As far as I'm concerned, La Piñata has no peers. Their super burrito is basically as good as a burrito can get. Well seasoned and portioned ingredients and you never feel like you have to ask for extra meat here. A steak or steak and shrimp burrito (Tortilla extra crispy) is a must. Their tacos are also fantastic. My favorite is the suadero which I order extra crispy. It kind of reminds me of a beef version of carnitas in a way. I've gone far and wide looking for the best burritos in The Bay, and all roads lead back to La Piñata!

I was told that La Piñata's is the best burrito truck in Vallejo, maybe even in the county so I had to see for myself. I ordered a steak super burrito with extra rice and 3 tacos... and I'm not gonna lie this might be a top 2 burrito and tacos I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly balanced. The steak was flavorful, the salsa hit just right, and you could really taste the rice, steak and salsa in every bite. Nothing overpowered anything, it all came together perfectly. The tacos were just as good. Now, I did have to wait about 30 minutes, but it made sense. There were about 12 waiting for food and after tasting the food, I get why. Good food takes time. The only small downside (and it's not a big deal) was the chips, they gave me a really small bag. So if you're someone who likes having chips with your meal, I'd definitely recommend asking for extra. Parking is a bit of a challenge, there's no real designated area, so you'll have to find street parking or get lucky nearby but it's definitely worth it. I'll 100% be coming back for more.

The best Mexican food trucks in California. They were great. Taco burrito and sandwich was delicious

OMG best taco truck evererrr!!!! I ordered 3 tacos (asada, al pastor, and suadero) as well as a carne asada super burrito. I inhaled the tacos which were freaking delicious! The burritos flour tortilla had char marks so yay for cooking it before filling it up with a great proportion of yumminess! Also came with pickled Serrano peppers and carrots and grilled onions. They have a little sitting area but I got mine to go. I am salivating just writing this review!

This taco truck deserves its stars for good reason! My boyfriend was doing work out in Vallejo and decided to stop by due to great reviews. 100% lives up to the hype! Hefty portion sizes with hella good agua frescas! Love how their tacos are fillllled with cilantro, onion and salsa alongside the pickled chile. They were also generous with the toppings in their super quesadilla, def will order again! Although we live across the bridge, I wholeheartedly believe this spot is worth the drive and toll

So I run a FB foodie group and this taco truck is one of the most frequently recommended places.... but somehow I still haven't visited yet? I guess because I often like to order online and that wasn't an option and I'm kinda lazy heh. But I finally made it out, and yeah - it absolutely deserves its reputation. Many articles have been written about this place, and it's won top spots in so many "best of" lists, and I can tell you now it's not just hype. Absolutely great quality, you can taste the freshness, and they have their own spicy take on the flavors. I particularly loved the pastor - that's probably the best I've had anywhere! Will be back for sure.

(Beef) cabeza super burrito. I wasn't going to try to eat the whole thing

I'm a local who can remember the first and only taco truck that started in Vallejo before the 90s. El Zamorano on the corner of Amador and Florida. A carne asada super burrito was $3. And LEGIT. I've tried every one in town since and although the prices have gone up. The quality on many have gone down. This place is hands down the best. I got a super cabeza burrito and a canned drink. For $17. Also had a grilled Serrano chili. Grilled onions and pickled jalapeno and carrots with a side of tortilla chips. I went to a taco truck just outside of town and ordered a simple combo breakfast burrito and paid $15!! La Piñata la doing it right. As for the unnamed taco truck with the $15 breakfast burrito. Never again.

I finally went here after they became viral. This is a casual taco truck serving taco, burrito, nacho, quesadilla, and soda drinks. It is located at a small parking space at Vallejo. Street parking most of the time. They accept cash, cards as well but there is an extra charge. The truck itself and the set up appears and clean. I ordered a steak burrito and a shrimp burrito. I was 5th in line and I was amazed how fast I got my order compared to other establishments. My order was neatly wrapped: the burrito wrapped in foil then placed in a paper bag, then to a big plastic bag. The burritos were delicious, not my favorite so far but I will try the others next time. I hope they move in a more spacious area.

Hands down best burritos. Nothing touches it in vallejo in my opinion. It's so delicious. The orange sauce is perfect!

Big yellow truck of awesome deliciousness!

Oh man it's been a minute! Stopped by after finally getting back to work and I swear I will never order another burrito for delivery after the reminder of why these are just so damn good! Dad and I stopped over here after I got a haircut and a beard trim (Also long overdue) and grabbed 2 Suadero burritos. They were massive and grilled tortillas and just perfectly balanced with meat and beans and rice. I even opted to not add avocado like I normally do. I am ashamed that I didn't get a burrito pic but I was so excited I jumped right in and attacked. 10/10 will be going back soon! Other side notes: parking can be tricky so if you have a person to drop you off and circle that is key. You can call in an order and pick it up which also helps. They also have Apple Pay and I believe another option so if you are like me and never have cash on hand (except my poker bankroll) you are all good! I absolutely see why they are number 4 in the country for food trucks!

I've been to this taco truck 20+ times, and it never disappoints. If you're looking for authentic tacos, this is the truck to visit in Vallejo, California. And if you're in the mood for a good, tasty burrito, it's definitely worth it--especially considering the size, which is huge! There are two large tables outside where you can sit and enjoy your food. The vibes are chill, with great service and the owner is clearly passionate about his food truck business. TIP: bring cash to save some money. There's a small credit/debit fee Taste: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Price: 10/10 Worth going back? yes!

They do take cards now, as of a few weeks ago? I had to post this as a question, but it is a statement.

Thanks for sharing this. They are the best Mexican food truck/ trailer in town.

Can they take orders over the phone for pick up?

Yes

Where exactly is this truck located. I went to their location twice and they weren't there? Did they move?

When open, the truck is parked in front of a beauty salon. They are located across the street from a used tire shop, on Broadway, a block away from Vallejo High. They are 1 block away of Trans Soul, same side of the street. Or you can resort to… Read more

I'll never forget standing around eating one after another between swigs of Modelo with friends... California tacos have always been generally great, but this place is special. Since Oaxaca, I've only had as good al pastor in Mexico City last year in a similar setting. So I'm super excited and grateful that Vallejo now has its own amazing popup serving these incredible tacos, and more. My husband is a burrito guy with a big appetite, yet the servings are so hearty he can only eat half in one sitting. And my al pastor tacos sent me back to that Oaxaca bus stop with adventures ahead. Sitting on a busy corner parking lot, this place is super popular so expect to wait, plus parking can be tricky. All said, the service is efficient and people are patient to wait for what they know is a good thing. While waiting you can bag up your own garnishes like pico, salsa, pickled peppers, sautéed or raw onions, and more. I saw some people enjoy their food in their cars, but both times we brought ours home since we live close and the packaging keeps everything together well. Truly the most authentic Mexican al pastor and more you'll find in Vallejo.

I got 4 asada tacos and 1 asada torta for the cost of $29 and both orders weren't seasoned. Service was low level. Ambiance is a parking lot. The music was the only thing that was good. I really can't believe people be so excited to be in line for unseasoned food. Never again. So yes this is not a place I'd recommend to anyone.

La Joya Taco Truck has been on my radar for years. I finally tried it for the first time last year,…read moreand since then it has become one of my go-to taco trucks in Vallejo. The food is very, very good, the prices are reasonable, and the portions you get are worth it. It's kind of hard to miss when driving by, but they also have a small sign near the street letting you know they're there. I had known about this taco truck for years but never stopped until last year, and now I wish I had gone sooner. I ordered a super burrito and a few tacos. One thing I really like is that they actually list the length of their burritos on the menu. That's a nice touch because sometimes you order a "super burrito" somewhere else and end up with something small. Here, you know exactly what you're getting. Out of all the taco trucks in Vallejo, this is easily one of my top three burrito trucks. I try not to burn myself out eating at the same place too often, so I like switching between favorites, and this is definitely one I keep coming back to. I almost always get the steak burrito. One thing I really love is the pico de gallo they use. They use red onions, which gives it a nice touch, and every time I get it, I can really taste the cilantro in the pico de gallo throughout the burrito. The steak and chicken street tacos were also really good but the burrito is always my favorite! Parking is never an issue because they share a parking lot with an auto body shop during off-hours, so there's usually plenty of space. They also have cones to help guide cars entering and exiting the lot. When your food is ready, they call your order number over the microphone/intercom system, then ask if you want red or green sauce and chips. Overall, I've always had a great experience here. If you're in Vallejo and looking for a good taco truck, I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
