I decided to buy a bag of chips. Then I saw beautifully packaged baklava at the cash register counter. I bought the big gold box full of baklava. Oh wow...just like another reviewer said, these are the BEST baklava I've ever had! These are packaged so nicely, they would make a nice gift too. (Note: The attached picture doesn't include all the baklava that was in the box, because I had already eaten two before I took this picture.)

The closest grocery store was mountain high market and though I was grateful not to have to drive to Lake Arrowhead and back I was disappointed in the high prices and mostly canned and frozen food. Despite the lack of choices, the service here was AMAZING which I have never seen at a grocery store. The couple who ran it offered homemade baklava (which was literally the best I've ever had) and even helped me take my bags to my car IN THE RAIN! Talk about going above and beyond! Also even though the prices were high and the food selection was small it was the best option in the area and the $180 spent on groceries paid for 4 meals plus snacks for 5 people which was a much better alternative than going out for every meal.

There was a bit of a line, but she made every customer who went through her line feel seen. She actively engaged in conversation and gave suggestions for how customers could save some $$$. I know we all appreciate those types of hints. When it was our turn, she personalized her conversation so organically. The store also had reasonable prices and a good selection of different types of food. Recommend for vacationers who prefer to cook vs go out to eat for every meal.

But I must say, Michael Doherty has let Stater Brothers go downhill ?.. and I will say he has definitely left the original owners completely down. I know so many people that have stopped shopping there and it's very sad. It's just become the trash of the hill. For us That I've lived here 40 years plus when we get together it's saddens us to see the store go to flatlanders and not to the locals. He has let the Store go to hell and it is what it is cause it used to be a great store. Hope you're having Michael Doherty because of your employees as well as you have run that store into the ground I'm quite honestly I don't care about anybody's opinion unless you've lived her close to 40 years and you knew that Store 40 years ago.

I was shocked at the actual square footage of this store as it looks much smaller from the street. Additionally, I never noticed they have a Starbucks within. Initially I only intended to stop in for a meager bag of tortilla chips, but I soon found myself walking other aisles just to peruse the variety of goods available. There's a full-service bakery with an impressive display case near the entrance (adjacent to the Starbucks), and the steaks at the meat counter were equally attractive. The deli section was doing a good business with several people in line for sandwiches, and I noticed a hot soup station, as well. I hate shopping at Lake Arrowhead village on weekends due to the traffic and, though this Jensens was doing a very brisk business, the ease of parking is so much better. I have been relying on the little market in Cedar Glen (a former Jensens, ironically) for emergency "basics, " but it's nice to know there is a larger, better-stocked, option available a short five miles distant.

I'll start with the bad, on the outside its like a fresh, red, and juicy apple, but apples can be decieviving, and this one was. To me the interior was very subpar and lacked that "woods-cabin-lake-vibe". I would have preferred it to match the aesthetic of the forest which sorounds it. I really just think more care could've been put into the interior design. Now onto the food. The sandwiches felt like my mother packed them. I definitely felt the love but you know moms, flavors not always there. But here's Peter John Leesons v's little secret, you got to add pickled jalapeño's and not just on deli sandwiches but everything!!! I got the veggie sandwich with chaddar cheese‍. The veggies came super fresh and the lettuce had a very nice crunch to it. This sandwich sounds good so far, right? WRONG!!! As fantastic as the veggies were, the bread was genuinely low quality and that is just not optimal for a good sandwich. Bread is the corner stone to a high quality sandwich and thats what I felt was really lacking. As a suggestion, I think if you asked the wonderful employees to toast your sandwiches it would be a lot better. Speaking of those kind and welcoming employees, their service really made this experience for me. The sweet woman behind the deli counter seemed incredibly locked in‍ and got our sandwichs out in record time. This quality service continued to the check out counter, where I met my charmingly awkward cashier. Overall, I will say that the cedar glen fine foods market is not bad especially for those looking for a cheap affordable sandwich, it just needs some aesthetic elbow grease (of course referring to the interior). One suggestion I have is to make the food racks wood and paint the walls a more in inviting color!!!! thank you devoted for your time and love Peter John Leeson V Signed out
