Palm Springs store: If you're doing regular grocery shopping, eggs, meat vegetables don't go to this grocery store. I saw how a woman was treated by the management, and it was shameful of the cashier the rudeness to other customers. No this is not the store for regular grocery shoppers. This is for the tourist. Very sad I have to write this review and will be sending to corporate . This is regarding the "manager MELINDA." I am writing to formally report an incident at my local Grocery Outlet location. I have been a loyal customer for over five years, and I have never experienced treatment like this before. During my recent visit, I was asked to provide identification for my purchase. I agreed and went to retrieve my ID from my car. I noticed, however, that the customer immediately in front of me was not asked for identification. I calmly stated that if IDs were being checked, the policy should be enforced fairly and consistently. At that point, the manager seemed offended and escalated the situation. She loudly addressed the entire store, belittling me , yelling at me everything caught me off guard and saying she refused service to me, insisting I leave. I did not raise my voice or act aggressively, I complied and felt deeply embarrassed and humiliated in front of other customers. I felt discriminated because the woman in front of me was not given a hard time when asked for I.d but once it was my turn she began giving me attitude until she blew up. I was calm until she began discriminating me. Her behavior made me feel singled out, discriminated against, and disgusted by her actions. Even as I left the store, her loud comments continued. Even after leaving a gentlemen caught me outside and said,"she is crazy she was being a total "b" there shouldn't have been any of that.." This incident turned what should have been a routine transaction into a public humiliation. I am requesting a full review of the manager's conduct, as well as clarification on your store's ID enforcement policies to ensure customers are treated respectfully and fairly. I love love love this store! It is always clean. There are always staff around to help you find what you need. The owner tries to stock a variety of options for many different types of customers- lots of Asian sauces and noodles, lots of vegan products, of course lots of Mexican condiments and ingredients, and good looking produce. Also if you eat meat, he on occasion has venison and bison along with the ubiquitous chicken, pork, and beef. I always start my shopping here, and frequently find an interesting ingredient that causes me to make a meal around it just because it might not be there again Also, many of the items are lower in price so if I can find them in the store, that's one less thing that I would buy at a more conventional grocery store. This store used to have a public bathroom until Covid. It makes it hard for me to come there because there is no restroom and I have a very weak bladder. Covid is over, still no restroom. It's hard to find help sometimes but once as I was leaving I lowered my mask going out and immediately one of the little dictators that worked there tells me "MAAM YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK." I went to this location yesterday, and it was clean, tidy, well stocked all that good stuff. The real reason I was moved to write a review is because of Susan. She is a woman working as a cashier. I observed her greet, with her smile and kind words, every single person that walked through those doors. I did not observe a single person respond to her but I did see her consistently welcome every single person into that store. I observed her smile and greet and welcome each person that came to her check stand as well. Her warmth did not depend on the way it was received. She just shares it. She is an absolute breath of fresh air and clearly grasps the power of showing kindness and love in the world around her. She is absolutely refreshing. read more

The Desert Hot Springs Grocery Outlet is my go-to favorite store. I appreciate the variety, and abundance of produce, and Gluten free products as well as the Organic selections. It's a bit of a treasure hunt with newly added household items, art supplies, and a huge assortment of health and beauty products. The store is clean and well organized, roomy aisles for taking my time discovering new products. I've had only positive interactions with employees, and appreciate the whole experience of shopping at Grocery Outlet. The savings are a huge plus, of course! read more

Being a fairly avid reviewer I have never second guessed the validity of the YELP app/reviews and assumed the contents could be trusted. Ii noticed this store is showing only one 2 star review and the 3 other five star reviews are being hidden because they're not recommended. The statement that pops up before anyone leaves a review seems to fare on the store side asking patrons to take into consideration the COVID situation and remember everyone is doing their best. This is where I become puzzled. It seems strange to remove/not recommend the 3 five star reviews and only leave the 2 star? This grocery outlet is amazing! The employees are always kind, courteous, helpful, and ready to assist you in any matter you may have at hand. The store is extremely clean, parking lot tidy, and I have seen the baskets being sanitized. It's a blessing to find gluten-free, dairy free, and a plethora of organic items at a fraction of the cost. My friend and I LOVE grocery outlet!! He shops here a few times a week and always brings home lots of new and interesting items. I love that they carry plenty of vegan options, and a nice selection of organic produce. Since grocery outlet came to town, I have not stepped foot in Walmart (14 months now since my last dreaded Walmart visit). Grocery outlet is less crowded, they have a very friendly and helpful staff, and it's clean. I've not only purchased food items here but also clothing, household items, etc. I won't shop anywhere else other than the health food store for a few vegan items that grocery outlet does not carry. While I love grocery outlet's prices and products, my most recent experience left a very sour taste in my mouth. For context, I'm a 20 year old guy that was dressed very normal for a grocery store and not sketchy at all. I was buying cleaning supplies and brought my full cart to the gallons of water right by the exit because I needed 10 gallons. While looking at the water, two female employees basically yelled at me "Sir have you paid yet!?!" I was very confused and just told them I was looking at the water. They then yelled at the male employee standing by the door, "Hey this guy hasn't paid yet, just to let you know!" I felt like I was being accused of stealing for absolutely no reason, especially because a girl did the exact same thing I did not even 2 minutes before, and wasn't told anything. I understand trying to prevent shoplifting, but yelling at regular customers is not the way to go about it. I'll continue to shop here, but that experience made me pretty upset. read more

Nice new store with great prices. However, as an older resident, I will not shop there until there is a sanitation station at the entrance for wiping down cart handles, and a couple of sanitizer stations for sanitizing hands after touching freezer handles and other surfaces. The employees seem to be protected behind plexiglass screens, but the only sanitizer for customers is a mostly empty plastic bottle sitting on the floor near the entrance and a dirty cloth rag for wiping cart handles that has been used probably for days, sits on the dirty floor next to it. I don't even want to touch the rag. Stater Brothers, Aldi and Vons do better. read more
