been going here for years and its never failed my family. their meat is pretty good and not too pricey.

I should have known better than to just trust Google reviews--maybe I misread the stars. To say I was disappointed would be putting it lightly. Our chicken went bad after just a day and a half, and I couldn't even cook it for dinner because it smelled so terrible, I used beef taco meat first day and that was good . I'll give them credit for that--but the steaks I bought were awful (two out of ten, at best). I definitely won't be returning. My family and I recently started going here for their meat. It's decently priced, the people that work there are all so friendly, which is a bonus. It's always very clean, it's not a five star review for me just because a lot of their canned items as well as drinks are a bit expensive. Other than that, it's a great neighborhood market. read more

He took the time to recommend the best meat they offer and he was not wrong. Prices are competitive with other markets. I recently moved to Placentia and was in search for a good carnicería like the one I frequented in Cathedral City. It was even better! Super clean with great service! Cleanliness is important for me if I am buying meat from there. The butcher did not have the meat I needed out but he went in the back to get a new packet, and even cut it into cubes for me! They had everything I needed for a birria dinner, good prices, and super fresh meat! Will be back! read more

Love this little market! Before I moved here I was never near any type of Mexican bodega. Recently I had a taco night with some friends and we picked up a couple pounds of carne asada and Al pastor. Everything was pre chopped and the butcher was very friendly and quick. I usually enjoy stopping by to pick up essentials like their rice, beans, salsas, guacamole and crema. The staff is always friendly and the prices seem fair for the authentic quality. read more

La Bodega has thankfully ceased their weekend bbq's. Thank you! This place is handy to have in my backyard. I head to La Bodega for onions or any produce I forgot to buy at the normal grocery store. Their prices are pretty cheap too. Aside for water, that's all we buy there. read more

Cool place. I can walk there from the house so that's a plus. The meat there is deff good quality as well as their seafood. I've gotten stuff multiple times and always good cuts. The have produce and beer and Mexican candys. Lots of things a big store has but walking distance for me. Nice staff too. read more

I do not recommend this place, I say this because the truth is that I am very angry and annoyed at the way the cashier treats you. I went to make a money transfer and the cashier provided very bad service with a shitty attitude that not even she could stand it, I don't know. yes she is bitter but that is not my problem more people started to get together and more bad attitude answering me in a horrible way and her name of that old woman is called Delia really if she does not have a good attitude with clients I should resign if that is not the case It is for me because she is a bad worker, she does not know how to talk to customers, terrible service with her face that she used to give me... and the way she spoke to me, the truth is, I do not recommend this place, I will never go again read more

This is my carniceria. Small little shop, but it gets my Mexican shopping list done. Produce is always very cheap, the meat can be a little pricey, and they offer some bomb salsa and ceviche. Pan dulce is good, but not always as fresh as it looks. Their cookies are spot on though and should be tried. Viva La Bodega! read more

A small Mexican grocery store with carniceria, small pastry case, produce and non-perishables. I was surprised that the chicken breast, $3/lb, was higher than the on-sale ones at regular grocery stores, but the produce is cheap. Was called La Bodega previously. Usually stopped by once or twice a week. Today a $3 price per lb increase on flat steak! Ok fine, since I avoid driving to Northg****. Its a small local that can become crowded with a handful of people so I couldn't believe that half the staff/owners?? and most customers were not wearing masks. Not like a Pandemic or anything is going on. They also now have crates (dangerously??) stacked up very high on the shelves. Sorry, I love shopping at small businesses but I will avoid for the foreseeable future. read more

I LOVE finding little mom and pops owned stores. It makes my guts feel all warm and fuzzy. This little piece of grocery heaven has HANDS DOWN the best home made tortilla chips I've ever had (both of my ex husbands are Mexican, I know these things). They also have the best green salsa and Guacamole I've ever had. Their marinated Carne Asada, also the best. The owners are sweet. My Spanish isn't great, but the butcher is accommodating. Usually a good spot to go for meats. But when they take advantage of the situation of advertising chicken at 2.49 a pound but the guy tells you it's actually 3.99 a pound because of the virus and meat shortage elsewhere. This is my 3rd time going to this store since is the closest Mexican market near me. I have to say I'm very disappointed with their produce and meat. Service is great as they are all very nice. However quality of food is bad. I bought carnitas last week and the meat was hard and not cooked all the way. I was concerned because pork meat can be bad for you if not cooked well. I ended up with a stomach pain all night and diarrhea for 3 days. Few days later I went back to buy Carne Asada and I purchased the one that was already marinated the guy assured me that it was really good. However the meat when cooked didn't really have that much flavor and it was really hard. So, I decided to give them another shot and went to purchase Carne Asada for Fourth of July. This time I purchase the meat it was not marinated and I decided to marinate it myself with my own spices and condiments. I let it marinate in the refrigerator for an hour. When I cooked it was extremely hard and the meat had a funky flavor, it tasted old with a terrible aftertaste. I am Hispanic and grew up eating Carne Asada and I know for certain this meet is not fresh. I just hope I don't get sick again. I hope the owner reads this, he needs to make sure he's meet is fresh and is prepared correctly or else he's going to have other person get sick in the health inspection department could possibly shut his business down. This little Mexican market is a hidden treasure! It is the last storefront in a small strip mall (across the street from the Fullerton Target, east of Placentia Ave.) so you may miss it driving by. It is in the same shopping center as the Twin Dragons Chinese restaurant. I have been to the other Mexican markets in Old Town Placentia but this one is way better! The employees here are very friendly and helpful. Unlike the markets in Old Town Placentia, there is always someone who speaks English to help you out. The store is also very clean. We have purchased the marinated carne asada and chicken many, many times. The chicken in particular is always a hit with the family and friends. It is perfectly spiced and juicy! For the health conscious, the marinated chicken also comes in white meat only (but I prefer the combination of dark and white meat). MUST MUST MUST try the chicken, you will not be disappointed. The produce is also good here. If you are making fresh salsa or guacamole for your taco party, the tomatoes and avocados are perfectly ripe! read more

The biggest draw for this place is that the market is clean and you can find parking. The seasoned flank steak was pretty good and great for making carne asada. Not too salty as another reviewer mentioned..they must have lowered the salt. The carnitas, which are pre-cooked was excellent. It had a nice chewy crust and juicy on the inside. Not a big fans of their salsas though. They only carry two types - red and green. The salsa verde (green) was decent but the red one was not spicy and tasted watered down. Produce is also relatively cheap and fresh. A great place to go to if you just need a few items and want to avoid the big crowds of the bigger markets. read more

If you are looking for a local grocery store with great prices on fresh fruits and vegetables, this is the place. Their prices are one quarter the big box stores. Have purchased some meat and It has been good but know that this is not a market for other groceries- stick with the fruits and vegetables and be selective with your meat purchases and you will be fine and save lots of money. read more

surprising little carniceria with great salsa/guac dip/tortilla chips! the meat selection was amazing. a bit pricey but still more affordable than most american groceries. we purchased the marinated chicken which the kids loved, as well as the ceviche (fish/shrimp) which was quite good and better than most i've tried around this area, but could use a bit more fish IMO. on a busy day when you don't have time to cook anything from scratch but want to serve something more nutritional than chicken nuggets, i would definitely suggest getting the marinated chicken -- it cooks up in minutes on a grill pan. the service was friendly and helpful. : P read more

Good grocery spot. I usually buy vegetables from here and mind you this place is way cheaper than ralphs and walmart. Vegetables are as low as 7 lb for /$0.99. The owner lady is great greets you with a smile. The only glitch is you have to buy more than $5 to be on card. but thats jus a minor thing. Overall a good place to buy cheap grocery. I usually buy my fresh meat here every month or so , what i love the most is the chorizo, unlike other places this one is less paint and fat and more meat and flavor. Small little place with everything you need for cooking dinner! Last time i was there, i got to try the carnitas . So i will surely come back to get so more. read more

This is an awesome meat market! The carne asada is the best in the area. Hint: you need to select the flap meat for the best traditional cut of carne asada. I purchased quite a bit of meat for a family gathering and the folks their hooked me up with two free containers of salsa! Been here several times and will definitely be back. read more
