I recommend and will be back! My sister has been coming here for years with her Tibetan spaniel. I am a new dog owner. After three disappointing grooming experiences at places around my house, I decided to give this place a shot. The groomer came out and discussed what she was going to do and then went and got a picture to show me so that I felt comfortable. They kept me posted and called me to say that my dog would be ready in 30 to 40 minutes. He was! I got to the space early and liked that I could look through the window and see the whole back and the whole operation. I love his cut. I am so so happy with it. He finally looks like how an Australian Labredoodle is supposed to look. Also when I brought him home he did not act funny. A previous place I went to, my dog curled up and went to sleep for hours when he got home. He seemed shellshocked. It's also worth noting that I observed the groomers treatment of animals both when they knew I was looking (at dropoff) and when they didn't. (At pickup). They are sweet and kind to the animals (as it should be) and observant of the animals' needs. As an animal lover this is very important to me. For example, when I went to pick up, I commented that my dog was loose in the back. They said "Yeah he seemed unhapppy in the crate. He was biting on it so we let him out." "It was just him. We don't let more than one dog out at a time". Also, at drop off, I was filling out paperwork. I observed the other Groomer take in a small dog. She noticed the dog was wanting to watch her owner leave and so she stood patiently and said "you want to watch your mama leave." And then she waited for when the dog was ready and that's when she took her back to the back. read more

My dog started shaking when we arrived for his third appointment. I immediately cancelled. Here's what I noticed: the grooming area in the back is closed off. You can't see what goes on, or how clean it is. I looked through the reception window and saw what appeared to be a darker space and mounds of hair in the walkway. Seems like a bare bones operation where cost comes at the expense of comfort. Appears more effort was put into the lobby than anything else. I had initially decided to give this spot a try because was it was closer and less expensive, but am now happy to pay the higher rates at our regular place where I can see the dogs being groomed in a clean, lit up, comfortable environment. read more

I brought my springer spaniel, Oakley, here and was very pleased! Admittedly, a bit nervous because they have some poor reviews but I noticed a lot of them are very old so I decided to give them a chance. Alli (I believe is her name) took amazing care of my anxious pup and did her cut EXACTLY the way I asked her to. I can get a little specific with the way my dog gets cut but she really delivered! She was there for about 5 hours and I felt the pricing was very fair for everything that was included. Her nails are cut perfectly, ears are SUPER clean, she smells amazing, and she even got a cute bandana. I would highly recommend Alli to anyone. If you care about the way your dog is cut do not take your pup here!!! I would like to say I'm normally not a karen and understand extreme circumstances but I always tell groomers if something comes up call me. I recently relocated to Columbus and figured I would try this place out to groom my cocker spaniel. Needless to say even after talking to the groomer prior to the appointment over the phone and in person about how she is normally cut and asking for a longer length I came back to find my 3 year old cocker shaved. They claimed it was matting and even charged me extra for dematting. She looks nothing like her normal cocker cut and her nails were barely trimmed. I told the groomer the reason she needed longer hair is because we just came from such a warm climate to the snow and she gets cold easily. I am beyond upset and the groomer being condescending when I was visibly upset made it even worse. Also not sure why but her leash had a knot in it. She is home but acting skittish and refusing treats which has never happened in all her grooming appointments over the years. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

Was kind of led on by prices. I figured if you got one package that it wouldn't be attached to the standard package. It would be assumed that the standard is an option and any other. We were shocked that our total came out to over $100+. I knew it would cost more being a professional grooming salon but communication about pricing should've happened BEFORE they took her, so everyone is aware. I paid for dremel, shed-less package, and paw pad massage. Tell me why they wouldn't mention that this standard package I was unaware of already had nail trimming. I wouldn't pay for her nails to be dremeled but I knew they would be trimmed. I was also unaware that she was going to get a haircut. She's a Siberian husky with shorter fur for a husky, she does not need a haircut in the slightest. I've never heard of a husky getting a haircut, but her fur is already shorter and easy to brush through naturally. There no knots to worry about. The cut doesn't even look good. It's uneven in some place and they got a lot of the fur from the base of her tail, which just looks odd. Seems like a good place for standard breeds that get groomed a lot like golden doodles, but research should be done on other breeds for the typical grooming routine. No breed is the same. They weren't rude or anything, but was inconsiderate with keeping the last price to themselves until she was done. Of course I had to pay when it's done and she's been there for 5.5 hours. Took my beagle in for a shampoo and cut. She has been acting strange since the appointment and we found several scars on her today. There are even some areas that have multiple scabs on her neck. They were not there prior to the appointment. I don't know what they did to cause these injuries, but they obviously caused injury to my dog. read more

Since I just recently got a dog, I decided to try this place out given the previous good review. However, I had a very different experience. When I first got my dog, a five pound Maltese, from a rescue group, she was pretty dirty and desperately in need of a trim. I called here but was unable to get an appointment because their schedule was full. I went to Doggie Daycare intending to try again the next time I needed her groomed. I figured if they were so busy, it must be a good place. The front area where you drop off your dog is pretty small with a few windows, a small sitting area, and some pet magazines. The receptionist was nice and friendly. After dropping off my dog, she said it would take approximately four hours to have her groomed. When I came back when they said she would be ready, I had to wait approximately 15 minutes to get my dog. I paid $45 to have her groomed, which was fine. The receptionist said that my dog was good and a sweetie. She was super soft and looked adorable with her new cut and bows behind her ears, but when I came home and petted my dog, I noticed a bald spot above her right shoulder. A couple of days later, I saw that my dog was scratching a lot, and upon further inspection, I saw she had fleas. My dog had her monthly dose of flea medication, and I have yet to take her to a dog park. We didn't notice any fleas or excessive scratching before going to The Grooming Spot, but I think she may have come into contact with fleas there. Either way, fleas or no fleas, I probably would not go back to The Grooming Spot. The service was wonderful, and they did a good job with the trim, except for the bald spot, making my dog super soft and cute. I will admit, that the bows they put in her fur lasted more than a day, but I don't think that's enough incentive to come back so I would rather go somewhere else to have my dog groomed. read more

I've been taking my dog here for the 4 years that I have had them. They always look great coming out, they know my dogs by name and they are always super friendly. They get a free teeth brushing with the groom and the groom is on the inexpensive side as far as grooming goes. I've never had any problem getting in the next day and sometimes even the same day. I called and left a msg while they were closed to see if they could squeeze them in today (Saturday.) SInce I work 3rd shift i made the phone called at 630 am. They called me back this morning, not once (because i fell asleep) but twice to see if i still wanted to bring them in and said they reserved a spot for them. I thought that was really nice and excellent customer service. My dogs are usually pretty furry when I take them in and I know they are probably a lot of work, but they always look great and the staff never complains. Happily give this place five stars. I took my cavachon Rosie to the Grooming Spot for a full work-up. Grooming, nails, ears and teeth cleaning. From the moment we walked in, Rosie was treated like a princess (which made me happy!). They were quick and efficient, but spent time with me upon our entrance to learn about Rosie. Her needs, allergies, how short I wanted her cut, etc. When it comes to my fur child, my standards are extremely high. The Grooming Spot met them with flying colors. I'll be taking Rosie back for sure. Great value for the services. Oh, one important note, they only accept cash on your first visit. But they tell you that when you make the appointment. read more

Have had my Golden for full service three times. Very good job each time. Really looked like a show dog. Nice work with my Min Pin also. Goldie must love the experience b/c he bounds for the entrance upon each visit. I sense the staff might not be as friendly toward the owners as they could be, but civil, and what really counts is how the dogs fell! The main issue may be that they forget to remind people that they are cash only, and owners have a hassle when they return. read more

The Grooming Spot is great. I cannot believe that people have had any problems with them at all. I have a 10 year old Standard Poodle that I take to them and I took my last Standard there as well. Never any problem. I used to groom my poodles a long time ago and I know that no matter how careful you are it is still possible to nick them. Also if someone brings their animal in with previous skin problems and expects them to work wonders they are expecting too much. This is a Vet problem, not the Groomer's!!! As far as fleas go, unfortunately no groomer has control over whether dogs or cats that come in with fleas. Obviously this can happen anywhere where animals go. To blame this on the groomer is senseless. read more

So sorry to hear you were upset with your pets grooming. We were not aware of your dissatisfaction until today. I know when you visited us on 12/9/16 your pet was already having skin issues. So we used one our medicated shampoo. Sometimes you can get the results you are wanting. It can also take a few shampoos to find the best one for your pet. It looks as if her skin didn't respond well to that shampoo. We would love to talk with you further about this matter. read more

Took my cockapoo to Grooming Spot 3 times. They got progressively worse at each visit and I will NEVER EVER go back. The first time went very smoothly. I asked if I could drop him off half hour early and they were very accommodating and agreed to come in to get him. They did the works for him - Hair, nails, teeth. Cut my dog all the way down the way I asked, cut his nails and he came out happy as can be. I was very pleased with the experience and the price. Second visit, they refused to come in early and claimed they'd never done that before and it would be too inconvenient. I didn't think much of that - it was a special favor for me since I go to work early. Dropped him off at 7:45am because the person opening was 15minutes late to open up. Again, not a big deal - I'm not a stickler for being on time normally. He came out and his hair was cut all the way down. He looked great and was happy - but his nails were still super long and his breath was awful. I am 99% sure they didn't do the works as I asked and paid for. Went a third time out of convenience and familiarity and thought maybe I just need to be specific with what I want. Dropped him off at 10am since I had the day off work. Requested the works specifically. I picked him up and the first thing I noticed when I got him home was that his nails weren't ever touched. They're still SUPER long. I paid for that, but didn't get that service. That's just the tip of the iceberg. After having my dog home for the night he didn't move much and was just sitting in one spot in a very strange position and would whimper a lot. I checked him out thoroughly only to find that they had mangled his tail and bum region. They cut off some skin and there was a horrible bumpy rash all over his behind. I realized that as I was leaving they made sure to give me a $5 off coupon for my next visit but didn't mention that they'd shredded my dog's tail. I called about this a few days later after treating my dog with numbing cream, neosporine, and children's strength pain reliever to understand what happened and to get a refund. The manager called me back the next day they were open and said that it was all my fault because my dog was so matted. He was a little matted, I give her that - but no worse than he's ever been before and a professional groomer would know how to shave a dog down without cutting up his tail and giving him severe razor burn. She said I should have had to sign a waiver, but since I didn't she would give me a discount on my next visit. I told her there's no way I'd ever trust them with my dog again. She ended up giving me a partial refund only after blaming my dog for licking it to make it worse and me a couple more times. PLEASE DO NOT EVER GO HERE. They will cut up your dog and then blame you. Trust me, you don't want to see your dog in that much pain! read more

Worst part was my dog had horrible diarrhea for almost two days (she has been groomed before at other places and never had a problem, tried this one because it's close to my house). The staff was super friendly, but here's the deal: Our 3 cats came home with fleas. They said they found a flea on one of them while he was there. We knew that the flea must have jumped on him there, because they are inside cats who do not ever go outside or have any contact with other animals. It's been about a week and now we're noticing adult fleas on our other cats. Also, we have found worms in the litter box. Perfect. It's hard to say if this is related, but this is the first time this has happened, and I read that they can get it from infected fleas. So on top of the 55 dollar (each) haircuts, we have to buy flea medication, take one cat to the vet, and probably buy worm medication for all three. With all the choices in the area, it's not worth the risk. I will not be taking my cats back. I suggest you stay away. read more

The best! They love our BIG Golden and they love our new, little one........breed unknown :). They "get it" in terms of providing good service: thorough wash; then, trim the hair, tooth brushing, check the ears, etc. We have been going there for years. I recommend Grooming Spot! About a year and a half ago I took my shihtsu there after she lost an eye to glaucoma. Theresa knew a haircut that would minimize the loss and she looks great. Plus she's a shelter dog and cannot tolerate being caged. After her first appointment Theresa told me I was right - she can't tolerate a cage so they have me bring her in and they do her right away and call me to pick her right up. She always looks great! I have no idea how the Grooming Spot has gotten anything under a 5-star review. I just took my mini goldendoodle to them for the third time in over the last 2 years and for the third time, it was perfect! I have done a lot of research and tried several other groomers in Columbus, and while others have done a great job, they have been ridiculously overpriced (have paid around $80 for a 20 lb pooch to be groomed). The Grooming Spot is absolutely affordable and do a great job. Teresa is very kind and will listen to whatever specific requests you have (I don't like my doodle to have any of the classic poodle cuts) and she does exactly what I ask of her. My 3 year old dog is sweet as can be but will not for the life of him let me touch him with a brush/comb/scissors; but Teresa works her magic on him and he always comes out smelling delicious and soft as a bunny with no more mats. Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back for as long as we are in the Columbus area! read more
