I brought my Rough Collie in for a bath and a simple sani-trim. For this breed, a sani-trim should be extremely minimal--just a light tidy around the sanitary area to keep long hair clean. Unfortunately, they went far beyond what was requested. Her entire underside was scissored from her stomach up to her chest, and her elbows were trimmed as well. This amounted to an unsolicited full haircut, which is something a Collie should never receive, as it can permanently damage the coat. If they had been familiar with the breed, they would have known not to trim her in this way. In addition, when we picked her up, her coat was still damp, tangled, and did not look conditioned. Her hair even appeared rough and broken, which is concerning given how delicate a Collie's double coat is. Overall, this was the poorest grooming experience we've ever had, and she would have been better off not being groomed at all. Collies require specific coat knowledge and gentle handling, and unfortunately this groomer did not demonstrate either. I would caution other Collie owners--and long-coated breed owners in general--to be aware of this before booking. read more

When they brought my do out, he did something that he has never done before, he bolted past me and ran towards the door. My dog appeared to be traumatized. My dog did not smell as if he was bathed and the cut was just awful. His facial hair was lopsided, which I had to correct and he had nicks from whatever type if clippers that they used. My dog was not himself for the rest of the day from this experience. I suspect that the person who did this was not a trained groomer, maybe just filling in for an actual groomer. Our dogs have been seeing Alex at Groomingdale's for several years. We have two elderly ShihTzus (they will be 16 in July 2025 and still going strong!) and one little 7 year-old Papillon. I took my cat in for a normal grooming and bath with nails clipped etc....she has been to groomers her whole life and never had an issue till I tried this place for the first and unfortunately last time. She left there in such distress it caused her to have seizures. Whatever they did made her body go into complete shock and distress to the point she lost controls of her bowels and ended up needing to be rushed to the emergency vet within minutes of leaving their office. The emergency vet took her in and s aid her organs and internal systems were shutting down and there was nothing they could do to save her. I had to make the insanely difficult and traumatic decision and do what was best for her by putting her down. I will never know to this day what happened to her in the care of those untrained groomers that day but I have forever lost my fur baby of 16 years because of it. I was also 6 months pregnant at the time and it caused me such heartbreak and distress that I had to go to see my dr as well to make sure my actual baby was ok... After everything that happened They never even called me to apologize or ask if everything was ok. They never showed a single sign that they cared at all. They were Horrible staff and such callus humans in my opinion. I'd be extremely cautious when leaving your beloved pets in their care. They simply do not take into consideration the well being of your animal or the compassion of a devastating loss. I will remember that awfully traumatic and devastating experience for the rest of my life!!!! Even the lowest score of 1 star is too good for them!!! read more

We've been taking our pup to Groomingdale's since his first grooming. (6 years) We have always been pleased. Our dog is very friendly. He goes in and out happily and without a problem. Two days prior to Christmas he was groomed. My husband asked for his ears to be shortened a little. This was not the first time we've made this request. When we came to pick him up, which was at least 25 minutes earlier than usual and surprising to us, my first response was his ears are too short! I was told by the owner that my husband said we wanted short ears! I replied shorter, just like you done before, not short! I paid and took my shaking dog out to our car only to see he had been disseminated! Two thirds of his long fluffy ears were gone! They had shaved him to the skin under his ear. His body was super short and the cut was uneven looking like it was performed by a novice. I use dematting tools, brush, & comb multiple times per week to prepare him at home for grooming. If there were any problems we should have been contacted. I know he was fine and ready for his groom. We were beyond upset. Needless to say we will not return. read more

Alexia, the owner of Groomingdale's is the only groomer my Yorkiepoo, Angel" loves to go to. Angel is very shy and nervous. When I would pick her up from other groomers, she would be shaking all the way home. Alexia is so gentle with her and limits her crate time by just grooming one or two dogs at a time. This limits the time my dog is in a cage, with other dogs and at the groomers. I pick up Angel and she falls asleep on the trip home. Groomingdale's give you the whole treatment in one price. Wash, groom, annul sac cleaned, nails and teeth if you want. A very profession cut, with love, hugs and tenderness. Thank you Alexia. read more
