Food was delish! Very hot temperature wise and tasted very fresh. There was ton of meat in my sandwich even though i ordered a Jr. the service was amazing and we didn't go a minute without drinks and food came out quick. Plenty of parking outside and prices are good for what you get. Their house sauce is the bomb! You have a lot of options to choose from. We have always enjoyed Groucho's but this place is disorganized and short staffed. There has to be a better system for "seat yourself". I would suggest form a defined line and order at the counter then go find a seat. The waitstaff can still bring you food and drinks. read more

I will never understand why this place is so popular. The quality of the lunchmeat used is the lowest grade you can buy from restaurant food distributors. That's a fact. The bread is also basic low-quality. Half of their sandwiches are served warm... which they do by putting in the microwave! Can't we all agree that microwaved bread is gross and chewy!?! So then, it's all about the dunking sauce for the sandwich. The most popular sandwich dipping sauce is like 1000 Island dressing. I had the potato salad, which is not made in house. So I'm struggling to figure out why people like it other than the fact that it has been around forever so it's just a part of the town. I ordered a turkey on pumpernickel... and they asked if I wanted it heated. I agreed before I knew it was going to be put in the microwave. My microwaved sandwich came back and they actually microwaved the lettuce as well! read more

The atmosphere was great. The place is large and clean. The waitress' were all very nice. The menu was pretty good. Not to expensive. I had the Apollo junior. With a side dip. Turkey ham and provolone cheese. On white roll. It was soooo good. We also had a side of potatoes salad. Omg. Try it. It's delicious. My husband had the Mediterranean It came with salami. I know this is sort of a landmark in Columbia, and I don't completely get it. I do, however, think it's decent food. The sandwiches are pretty good, but they all seem to be microwaved. I really don't think the sandwiches are much different than what I'd make at home, but then again that's the reason I'm eating out in the first place - because I'm too lazy to make food at home. Anyway, the service is always pretty good, food comes out quick, but the brad is a little too chewy (likely from being microwaved) and the cheese is usually halfway-melted, and the meat is typically cold in the middle if they don't microwave it long enough. Ultimately, I think a place like Firehouse Subs is a better choice if you're craving a hot sub. I will say that Groucho's has some really tasty cookies, and that's A-OK with me! read more

This place has been around a long time. Its been a while since my last visit. Wife and i stopped in today for a bite. I orderd the Apollo. Its a mix of ham and turkey with cheese on a roll. Really good sandwich. Got baked lays chips and nice fresh ice tea. Wife had the international on pumpernickel. She really enjoyed her sandwich as well. Its a lot of meat so she took half home. When I'm craving a hearty sandwich out in Irmo this is my spot to chow down. Order the STP ok don't even mess around, it has turkey and roast beat on a heated hoagie roll topped with melted cheese. Then you get to dip in a pinkish sauce known as 45 sauce. It rolls the sandwich all into one satisfying your hunger pains. Dip it over and over in the sauce until it is no more ! Joking aside Groucho's has been around quite sometime and it has great customer service and a wide variety of sandwiches and subs to choose from here. I'm seeing it's went downhill since my last visit. 1- tea is not sweet 2- junior STP dipper was served with very red cold roast beef.. 3- weird smell.. maybe Greek olives.. probably dirty water. 4- STP all turkey cold, cheese not melted and hard bread 5- STP dipper turkey and roast beef.. roast beef cooked on this one but cold. Groucho's has been a staple in my life since I was a tot. This was the first time I've used their online ordering function and I was really impressed. I live in Asheville, so as a treat from driving home from the beach we ordered online about 30 minutes from this location. I couldn't believe it was ready, warm, and my order was correct when I got there. As always, the portions were perfect, with high quality ingredients. I was even able to find a vegan low fat meal on the menu!! I had the 45 sauce beans on their salad and was not disappointed. My husband had the turkey STP and was thrilled. Atmosphere is bland, almost like a cafeteria, but the food and service makes up for it. Try the "45" sauce.
