Grouchos is certainly quality food but I feel that this location leaves something to be desired. I had to go to the counter to get my own refills and the staff wasnt overly nice or friendly, they were just there. I have had better experiences here and at other locations so this visit was somewhat of an outlier but one I will certainly be mindful of going forward. read more

Do you enjoy massive lumps of microwaved cheese? Perfect. Groucho's is just the place to get all of your microwaved cheese needs! They have other such goodies as: microwaved cheese with tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce on a sub. Microwaved cheese on a sub with only tomatoes. Off potato salad and off cole slaw which come in cute little bite-sized tublets. Have you ever had yellow broccoli? I now have. I don't recommend it. We don't often get to go out to eat. On the occasions where we do, it's extremely disappointing to get home and realize our food was made with an astounding lack of enthusiasm and care. The service is great, always fast and friendly. The reason for the 2 stars is the food. There are better sandwich / salad places in town and they have almost no hot food on the menu. The hot food they do have comes from a microwave or at your own risk you can try the worst chili in the state. My son and I love Groucho's and go here every time we pass it on our way to watch the Gamecocks or going to the beach. Our favorite is the STP Dipper with the 45 sauce- so good. Sad, sad, sad. I have been around long enough to remember Groucho's when it was good. They used to serve overstuffed sandwiches in the style of a real New York Deli. Now it is serving puny sandwiches with tough, stringy roast beef. The roast beef does have a nice shine to it though. Formula 44 sauce is still good. However, unless you eat like a bird, you will be hungry within an hour of eating here and you will pay $10 or $11 for a sandwich, chips and a drink. I shall miss the good old days, but the new Groucho's seems to do a decent business so they won't be hurt by the loss of my patronage. read more

I haven't been to a groucho's in quite a hot minute. Lets me honest, years. I was craving a pastrami sandwich, I had been watching food network and they were finding the best pastrami sandwich. So I wanted to support our locals. The food was fabulous, the sandwiches were actually just the right size...not humongous but not small either. We went to this Grouchos after church on Sunday. It was so busy we couldn't even find a table to sit down at so we sat at the small bar area they have. Service was great. I had the STP dipper (as normal) the roast was not tender but the turkey was great. read more

Great place for a deli sandwhich with chips. nothing too fancy. they got great sandwhich combinations with their special sauces and side of chips. I got Chicken Critter sandwhich with their "45" sauce (aka horseradish). Definitely would go back there again if ever am in Columbia again read more

I don't care what anyone says, microwave or not, this place is delicious and amazingly priced. Plus they stock Dr. Browns rootbeer, birch beer, and cream soda, j own can you go wrong? Being a Yankee I'm a suckered for a hot kosher pastrami and swiss on seeded rye with whole grain mustsrd, which grouchos dished out an impressive one, lots of meat, almost knife and fork worthy. There clubs are something to look at too seeing as how I struggle to put down even half of there turkey and bacon club triple decket. Then we come to they're signature sandwiches such as the STP, Apollo, Coles special, White and Brown Moose, all served on seeded white or wheat fat sub rolls with THICK melted cheese and various toppings, served with a cup of they're tangy formula 45 dipping sauce and a bag of their delicious groucho's brand chips and a kosher dill dpear. In my mind this is the perfect in and out lunch spot with multiple locations across the midlands to serve you, a must try. I love eating at Groucho's but I normally go to the forest drive location. This particular location has awful service. I watched my server greet everyone that came in after me before she came to me, and then she brought my drink as an afterthought. I quickly realized I was the only black person in the entire restaurant and realized why my server was not giving me the service I was used to. Definitely won't go back.
