https://www.ss396.com/el-camino/FPC7005SS.html pump to carb fuel line doesnt fit as stated on the webpage and will have to be bent about 2". i didnt feel comfortable bending a stainless steel fuel line as i dont think customers should have to do that and im not buying a bending tool. they say it fits , then it should fit. so i got the RMA #34214 authorization but i soon found that i would have to pay for shipping back to them. lol why would i pay for shipping back to them when the part does not fit as they state it will? i talked with Christopher M and he said. Excellent parts availability, even though most prices are higher than their competitors. Friendly folks answering the phones and when ordering - buy buyer beware when trying to return parts! This company will do whatever it can to make the process easier and attempt to avoid accepting returns. Everything falls apart for client service once you involve a supervisor, warehouse, or finance person. After returning a brake line kit I did not need, I returned it. Then I was told it appeared used, line ends looked installed, and get this - the tag was dirty, so wear gloves when looking at or checking fitment on SS396 parts! After thousands of dollars spent, too many hours on the phone, out-of-pocket shipping costs, and declining to ship parts back to me without me providing them a label, I placed my last order weeks ago and will never order from here again. I am forfeiting my parts with them at this point; it's not worth my time and frustration over less than $200 parts. Wow, I have never had such a horrible experience with an automotive company trying to return a part that truly was not installed. Caution, I ordered Metro SoffSeal Trunk weather striping that is made in the USA from Ground-up and they sent me a Cheap Taiwanese brand Weather striping instead, and then said they can substitute brand of product ! I ordered a front and rear bumper the front bumper came damaged and missing nuts and bolts and when I contacted them about the issue they said that they would send out new bolts nuts with the rear bumper. Well when the rear bumper came there was no nuts and bolts for the rear bumper and there was no nuts and bolts to replace the front bumper. I emailed Teresa asking her to please send the nuts and bolts as promised and still have not received a reply back. You kind of get the feeling from the reply previously that you are bothering them and obviously they are not true to their word. read more

I will first start by saying Christina B. is fantastic. Its a bummer her upper management isn't. I ordered (4) seat belts for my Chevelle. I received 3 black and 1 chrome. I didn't realize this until after the 3-day return grace period. To be perfectly honest it was way after. The car was getting the interior done and they were with the 20 other boxes of parts waiting to be installed. It's obvious that they sent the wrong product regardless of when it was discovered. I spoke to upper management and explained my situation. It was like talking to a wall. Basically, a person without a pulse. I get we all make mistakes. I would like to think that a large company like this would accept the responsibility and own their errors. Unfortunately for me that's not the case. Now I am paying shipping fees out of my pocket for a mistake they made. Buyers beware, check your stuff immediately, obviously there packers are as incompetent as upper management is. Restoring a 70 chevelle, bought a new 4 row HD radiator which took over 6 weeks to deliver because it was back ordered. When it finally arrived, it was mangled. Since they couldn't tell me when a new one would arrive, I agreed to 50% off and I'd deal with it. Took it to a local shop to straighten it out (no heat, no brazing). Fast forward, went to install the thing a month or so later and it was 0.25" too long! Contacted ground up again and they won't honor refunding the remainder because I "modified it". Seriously... had I known it wouldn't fit when it arrived mangled I would have just gotten a refund. Now I have a boat anchor and my pocketbook is lighter. Shitty customer service..... they should have held their supplier accountable instead of screwing their customer. I get that it wasn't their fault but they need to fix their supply chain. BEWARE THEY OVER CHARGE CUSTOMERS ON SHIPPING compared to other online store...why? its not because of fedex or ups etc charging them more, as we know businesses get bulk shipping prices which are much lower than joe shmoe walking into fedex ups and shipping an item. you ship a lot you get much lower shipping charges. so they are making money on shipping aswell. they like the $30 dollar shipping amount. put some stuff in your basket and you will see how $30 seems to pop up almost everytime. and if you have a return item....yea you wont get a free shipping label like most honorable businesses, you pay for shipping back. thats when you see how much shipping really cost and how much they over charged you for shipping. then they will do a 30% restocking fee on the return regardless of what the problem was, damage, missing parts in shipment....yea customers loosing money again. once you look at how much money your going to loose shipping the item back...you realize its best to just throw it away or sell it at a lower price on ebay. also they pay an outside feedback company.....why?? lol so the majority of legitamate negative feedback is not put on their website. look at these reviews on yelp and look at their website reviews....lol and you will notice on the feedback part, you cant click a link on that part and give a direct review of that specific item like most legitamate buisness. hence why they use an outside feedback review company. home depot, lowes, and most other companies you can leave a review on that specific item....thats how they control the negative feedback from customers. buyers beware. read more

I purchased the super sport wheel kit from this company less than a month ago and paid to have the wheels and tires balanced and installed. Within a matter of days the paint started flaking away. Two weeks later after watching the paint continue to flake off with time I decided to call Ground Up and spoke to Kevin who after checking with his manager, offered to send me a complimentary rattle can of touch up paint and told me, "once they are installed there is nothing we can do for you" and that was his "company policy." I don't remember GM's factory steel wheels flaking away after a couple days. Spend your money elsewhere or be prepared to get bent over. read more

Watch out. Went on google to search parts and decided to order from them the order was over $600 and the search I looked up said any orders over $299 use promo code for free shipping and that was all it said. I have a screenshot of it. I made the order and then after I saw I was billed for freight I called back and talk to their customer service. Customer Service argued with me and told me that not everything over $299 is free freight. So I offered to send them a screenshot of what they have on Google and she says she doesn't care that not all the things or free freight and apparently what I ordered was not free freight. So Buyer beware false advertising. .you would think on a $600 order that they would take care of the freight not even to mention I've got three cars that have stuff they have that I could order I'm not going to now. read more

Poor communication on shipment leading to having to reschedule a full weekend of restoration work. Ordered two products....carpet and a Flatline brand insulation kit. SS396 aka Ground up sent me a shipment email but left the tracking number blank. I emailed about the tracking number and the reply was simply a copied and pasted tracking number. No other words like...' we apologize for not including on original notification". I tracked the shipment which indicated a delivery for last Friday. Made plans for weekend. Shipment arrived Friday but only the carpet was delivered. I inquired again and again got a simple copy and paste of yet another tracking number showing then insulation would be delivered Monday. Frustrated with poor communication. Many more items to purchase to restore my car but SS396 lost my future business. read more

have only ordered a handful of items from this POS outfit (thank god). Half were defective right out of box. First was set of hood hinges. Very weak and bent. No chance of holding hood up. Next was 4 row brass radiator. Leaked right out of box. Luckily I decided to send to radiator shop to test. Guess I needed to have that done as soon as I got it. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I have been buying parts from this company for a few years now. For the first time; I received a defective part and sent it back in for warranty. The warranty was refused because it was scratched up from being installed; then they charged shipping to return the defective part back to me. Very disgraceful. read more

They do have a nice selection of merchandise however a lot of it seems to be out of stock and they are unable to get it in any timely fashion. I have spent over $25,000 in restoration parts with Ground-Up SS396.com in the last 12 months. I have had to return defective parts with an average of 3 phone calls and numerous emails. Not 1 time did I get a return phone call. I always had to call. Terrible communication. The latest concern, was the purchase of a Shifter Assembly Kit for a SS 396. (hard to believe they could mesh that up). They shipped the kit without a shift handle with the note "backordered". When I called and talked to Edmond he wasn't any help, and after a super long time on hold me told me he would have a supervisor call me. As usual 1 week later I had to call him back. This time Edmond put me on hold for a "super long wait" and told me they would have to send me a pickup tag for returning it because they didn't have any idea when it would be available. While on hold, the on hold message was advertising the 4 speed change over shifter kit we were talking about. Again, I ordered a KIT. Now that the shifter is installed in a 1969 SS Chevelle and waiting on the handle ground up wants me to remove it from the car at my cost and ship it to them.
