We came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The service was great, we were greeted immediately and told we could sit anywhere. Within a couple of minutes our waitress came by with menus and took our drink orders. We sat outside and it was lovely. There's not many outdoor seating options in Stafford so this is very exciting for us! For food we went with the grown up grilled cheese and the turkey pesto panini. Both options were good, but if you really wanted pesto on your sandwich, don't get your hopes up. It's mixed with mayo and only about 1 percent pesto. That was the only disappointing part of our visit. Either they could add more pesto to the sandwich or just call it a turkey panini. We will be back though to try other options. read more

Let me paint the picture. I'm newly postpartum and just wanted to get out of the house for a simple breakfast with my husband, toddler, and newborn. This ended up being the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We were seated and never offered a high chair, despite clearly having a toddler with us. The area where the high chairs were kept was taped off for a private party, and no alternative was offered. We then sat for about 15 minutes before anyone took our order. When the waitress finally came over, she walked away before we were even finished ordering, we had to flag her back down just to get a drink for our son. The only things that came out were our toddler's food, mimosas, and an orange juice we ordered afterward. An hour later, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted boxes, as if we had already eaten, despite the fact that we had no food on the table. She seemed completely unaware that we never received our meals. She said she would check on it and that our food would be "right out." Thirty minutes later, still nothing. No updates, no drink refills, no check-ins. At that point, we had to go up to the bar ourselves just to ask for our food to be boxed up and to close out. They did comp the meals that we did not recieve but that doesn't fix the experience. And btw WAY over priced. The two mimosas, kids orange juice, and kids French toast was $37 at checkout! When we got home (a 5-minute drive), the to-go food was cold, soggy, and not even correct. We received the wrong items entirely. To top it off, we were seated in direct sun the entire time, sweating and trying to manage a toddler and a newborn. This was a SHOCK! I moved back to Garrisonville in 2021 and only just found The Grounds Bistro this week by sheer chance! To find a bistro not just "off the beaten path" but in an actual neighborhood (Embrey Mill) was...odd. The day we went was beautiful and we sat outside. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. They have local beers and themed cocktails and our waitress helped with suggestions. I had the Bistro Harvest Salad with roasted butternut squash, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and goat cheese with house vinaigrette. (All their dressings are made in house.) It was great! My friends shared the Bistro Fries which were thick wedges served with Garlic Aioli and Sriracha Ranch. They were great! I can't wait to go back. I want to try their Tater Tot Basket or one of their sandwiches. (PSST! They have a Fried Bologna sandwich!) I was really impressed and it really is nice to have a nice casual place that isn't a crowded national chain, or the usual predictable local chain stuff. read more

Finally, gave my neighborhood bistro a try after being bookmarked for a while. On a random Sunday, we arrived at 9:01am and there was already someone checking out and others inside already seated. We were greeting but a friendly staff who bubbly said "have a seat anywhere you'd like." This place is awesome!! The interior is spacious and extends to the opposite side of the main seating area. The exterior is more spacious and boy I can wait to return when the weather is nice to dine outside. The bar is small yet just enough to seat less than 10 people but still the right size. The menu is limited but extensive at the same time. You can order any beverage local beer to gourmet coffee. We kept breakfast simple. I ordered the sampler eggs, bacon, sausage, toast with a side of sliced tomatoes. My friend went rogue and opted for a la carte which included a large pancake as he described it was "excellent". The food was cooked perfectly with portion sizes to make you feel full and not guilty and the prices are unbelievable. There is street parking and a smaller parking lot located behind the bistro. Grounds Bistro was the perfect brunch restaurant between Fredericksburg, VA and Woodbridge VA. The Bistro is tucked in between a cute neighborhood in Stafford, VA. Its a mix between bar and diner. Not raunchy enough to be a bar but not mom and pop enough for a diner; the perfect divide. Drinks were great. I order shrimp and grits which normally comes with bacon, guess what - it wasn't pre made so they were able to make it without the bacon (made my day). This was my first time visiting and I'll definitely visit again! Oh, we accidentally spilled water, not only did the server assist us with cleaning it up but other patrons helped. Food looks great presentation-wise, however that obscured the fact that the food has no relationship with salt, pepper, or herbs and spices! I ordered the wings and a burger. Wings were slightly better than that burger which had no seasoning whatsoever, faint salt taste detected. Like the vibe but the food preparation needs a redo. Heavier hand with seasoning would be great as I enjoy to taste the full potential of my meal. Might be back for the vibe tho. read more

Grounds Bistro is a simple and perfectly decent place to stop in for a meal. The decor is cute and tables are comfortable with several suites for larger parties. The menu is simple but covers all the bases. We ordered the breakfast burrito, chicken and waffles, cheese omelette and breakfast sandwich. Everything was as you'd expect but nothing more. The omelette was kind of small but I appreciated the slices of tomatoes that came with it. It seemed like everything was cooked fresh and I appreciated the availability of turkey sausage vs pork. I asked some of the guys I work with to find a place cool to eat around Quantico. They came up with Grounds Bistro and boy, they hit it out of the park! First, Grounds Bistro is right in the middle of a residential neighborhood which is unique in my experience: I almost thought it was a clubhouse but it turned out to be a cool little, well...bistro. The menu was varied and we ordered cheeseburgers, nachos, a club sandwich and chili. Everyone was really happy with their order. The gentleman who had the nachos said it was some of the best he had ever had; side note, he can eat forever and did not finish a half order of the nachos. The club was tasty and came with fried pickles cut like fries which was original and delicious (I had one of the pickles and it was legit). I had the chili and cheese burger and they were both scrumptious. The chili had no beans in it (I'm not getting into the beans/no beans debate but I prefer chili with no beans). The cheeseburger was fresh. The sriracha ranch was really good, as well. So if you're in Stafford/Quantico and want a cool little spot, this is your place. I met up with the two of my friends for lunch at Grounds Bistro in Stafford today. First time there for 2 out of 3 of us. We got there at 11:30 AM, and they were still on Sunday brunch. I originally wanted to order lunch foods, like a soup or salad, but that would not be available until 2 PM, so I ordered a sugar free blended white chocolate frozen coffee, and a small cup of fruit. One of my friends ordered the steak and eggs, with a side of French toast. The other friend ordered the Garbage Bowl, which is tater tots, eggs, cheese, corizo, chimichurri, and scallions, all covered in a sausage gravy. I never figured that we would still be there at 2 PM, no less 5 PM. And I was getting hungry, so I ended up ordering a half salad with sautéed shrimp. I'm glad we stuck around so I could try their lunch food. One of my other friends ordered a cheeseburger and fries, with a Caesar salad. Her burger looked delicious! I definitely will be back! I invited my good friend for lunch. I asked her to choose the restaurant. She chose the Embrey Mill location. We both ordered the club that came with shoe string French fries. When my order arrived I cut my sandwich into four sections. When I started eating the fourth section there was a black hair in it. I pulled the hair out and showed it to my friend. Of course, I couldn't finish my food. I didn't want to embarrass the server so I paid , still gave her a 20% tip and we left . Will I eat there again? No. Will I recommend the restaurant? No. The ambiance reminds me of a summer place to enjoy outside. One recommendation is please have cooks and servers wear a hat. oh, it wasn't my hair because I have total milky white hair. read more

Sunday at 1 p.m. Table for 5. Didn't get food until 2:30. Couldn't leave until 3 p.m. The food was OK. We tipped the very much in-the-weeds server a lot. But the kitchen/leadership let people down here. Brunch should offer salads. Or it shouldn't go until 2. I didn't want bacon or pancakes or fruit. I wanted vegetables. And the brunch menu only had potatoes. So we had to wait 1.5 hours until the kitchen switched to lunch to get three salads. The server was forbidden from offering us that choice until 1:45. My Diet Coke was completely refilled 4 times we waited so long. Please update your menu to include vegetables or change the schedule on Sundays. This was a terrible experience. read more

Waffles were mediocre and one out of three small pieces of chicken was hard and chewy. But the misery doesn't end there. On July 13th we rented the Grounds Bistro & Cafe for a birthday party. We had a guitar player which worked out perfectly. Lexi and Emma were amazing. They allowed each guest to come to the register and order their own food and drink. They were able to keep separate tabs for everyone. They were so organized and the communication was excellent! Horrible experience. Walked in made eye contact with the waitress who asked if I was going to be dining in, which I told her yes. She said grab a seat anywhere I'd like, which I did. Sat there for just about 10-15 minutes while the waitress and her friend talk about random BS. They finally remembered I was there, mind you, the place was not busy at all. I should have known something was up when the people seated outside were sending food back....but still had heard good things about the place so I gave it a shot. Ordered the wings, asked for lemon pepper. When they came out, it looked like they used their whole bottle of seasoning on the dang things. I ordered 5 and the fact that the cook thought that one of the pieces they deep fried was even close to a wing amazes me. Once again the waitress didn't come to check to see if everything came out ok or if I needed a refill. She went back to talking to her friend about the patrons that sent their food back. I went up to the register to pay my bill and the waitress asked how my food was, I told her it was horrible and told her to look at the "wings" when she picks up the table. She said, "oh, I would have gotten you something else". Yea she may have, but she would have had to actually be a waitress and check on the patrons she is serving.
