I came in here for lunch with a friend. It is a super cute set up! I was disappointed there was no booth seating, but at least the place was pretty and clean. Our server was not very knowledgeable about the menu, onbut having eaten a couple of items, but he tried to help ha with our decisions. I was going to get the pulled pork sandwich, but it doesn't come with coleslaw! What?? I asked why and I was told everyone complained about it... just a thought, try a new recipe?? I ended up getting the summer salad with berries and poppy seed dressing and adding grilled chicken. The salad was enormous! And so delicious! I would definitely order it again! It was chock full of fruit, nuts and meats. Usually salads aren't very filling for me, but I was stuffed after this salad! read more

This use to be my go-to place during the pandemic. The food was always good at that time and service was amazing. The last two times I've been here the food has been HORRIBLE!!!! Ingredients have changed and the food has been ice cold when served to me. They're cooking in bulk and don't even know temperatures when coming out of the kitchen. It's noticeable the same chef isn't there anymore with the decline in food preparation. It's sad because a once good neighborhood spot has been ran into the ground with the lack of detail and attention. The only good thing left here is the servers that continue to give great service and have to pickup the slack for what's in the back. Unfortunately, they'll end up leaving in due time for more money when tips decline. read more

I ordered a latte for pick up, so I can't comment on the quality of the food or the service. My latte was okay. While waiting I received a call that the flavor I chose wasn't available, so I had to choose another. It tasted fine but wasn't as good as some other coffee shops in the area. The process of ordering online was also a bit weird and I had to wait quite awhile for a coffee. I hope to come back, post quarantine, and give the food and coffee another try. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised. Grounds Bistro Escape I95 Traffic! Take a fabulous break. Coffee, Cocktail, Surprising Great Food. After driving eight hours we hit that dreadful traffic between D.C. and Frericksburg Virginia. At the exit for Hwy 140 and Stafford we got off just hungry and exhausted and in need of coffee. We literally stumbled on this gem. Great Coffee, Creative delicious meals that come up fast, cocktails and draft beer, and just really nice people in a beautiful neighborhood. Rejuvenated we are back on the road. My husband had the special that was unreal. And only $10.00. A terrific quality large burger topped with a big grilled cheese on top and....wait for it....yes! a large grilled cheese sandwich on the bottom. With the burger was very fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles and grilled onion. Just too good to be true. The chili was also excellent and the potato wedges/fried with three different dipping sauces were also amazing. So happy with this place. read more

So when you drive up to this location (if you're from out of town), it looks like it's a community club house restaurant. We walked in and were immediately asked from someone behind the bar if we were dining in or ordering to go. We answered in and she let us know we could choose a table in or outside. It was nice, so we went outside. I would like to note they were completely full inside and in less than a minute a guy brought us our menus and a highchair. We ordered some beers which took a little longer than I had hoped to get out, but when they arrived they were very cold. I ordered a hotdog & fries for our son and we decided to share some appetizers & fries with garlic aioli (I originally asked for the portabella fries but they were out). The hotdog came out in under 10 minutes and it was all very hot (good & bad because the fries were too hot to touch but better than it sitting in the kitchen). Our apps took about 20 minutes to come out. We ordered the Pulled Pork BBQ Potato Skins & the Taco Lettuce Wraps. The potato skins were the favorite, but could have been a little crisper. The taco wraps were fine, but very heavy on the cumin. The fries were potato wedges that were slightly crunchy on the outside but a little soft on the inside so if that is your thing you will like them. Overall, our waitress (didn't catch her name) was very friendly and the atmosphere alone was great. There was only one customer and three women working but for some reason they completely ignored me. After wandering around the empty area for a bit, I sat at a high top near dirty tables. Because they still refused to acknowledge me, I grabbed some menus from underneath plates of dishes. Brunch was already over and they had nothing breakfast-oriented to sell. I read the mixed reviews and was a little nervous about trying this place, but I am SO glad I did! I went with my husband for breakfast and the food was fantastic and more than reasonably priced! The coffeehouse drinks were absolutely fantastic - best hot chocolate I've ever had hands-down. And our server was not only very attentive, but an absolute delight. We definitely will be coming back! The only suggestion I would have for the manager/owner: your seat cushions need some love. They are a bit worn looking, which may deter some guests. We sat at the wood and metal tables because they looked more sturdy :) read more

Tried this place again after I heard things had improved under new management. It hasn't! I had a buffalo chicken sandwich which was tough, stringy and inedible. Fries were luke warm. Dining partners had a chef salad with wilted greens and the other had chicken tenders appetizer that was drumsticks and wings ...! Also inedible. We waited nearly an hour for this terrible food but were comped our meals after we complained. I'm done - never eating here again. I'd give zero stars if I could. Awful place. read more

I worked here the first 6 months it opened and my god the food was so good. Every bite was amazing and I'd fill myself up so I could remember how great it was but now YUCK. I ordered a beer and the glass was hot from the dishwasher.. Its 12pm. How many glasses yall going thru with the 2 other customers here. The server was beyond in my personal bubble. Like resting her head on my shoulder looking at the menu with me. Order the bbq sandwich cause it was amazing before. Some greens on it that really made the sauce pop. It was on my table faster than chick fil a. Thats not a good sign to me. It was wet hotish meat with sauce squirted on it like it was sloppy joes. No greens. Just bun meat sauce. Wasn't good. Just plain meat thats salty and hot sauce. Felt rushed but they play it off nice. I also notice a lot of these reviews that are ecstatic about this place is people who live in the neighborhood trying to make the manager(whos in the bunco mom group of the neighborhood.) Someone was talking to a "supervisor" about it. Thats really bad imo. I wouldn't go out of your way for this place. It looks nice for a bottle of wine and hangout but not to eat. read more

Excellent Rachel. ( turkey Ruben), wonderful flavors. Marble rye always a plus for sandwiches. Sauerkraut seemed like it might have been homemade, very nice and sitting outdoors was wonderful except the yellow jackets. Not a fan maybe the area but I hate to be stung or bitten or have to fend off from biting them in my food. Nature I know. Place was beautiful and the woman with the short hair was very nice! I really like this place, the lighting is great and the staff is so nice. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries to go once and it was so flavor full and the salt in the fries was thin and yummy. I went back on a Tuesday to dine in and they had $2 tacos (chicken, steak, pulled pork) what I like was they offered the choice of corn or wheat tortillas and soft or hard shell. I wasn't going to write a review because I wanted to give Bistro the chance to improve on their service, but when I express my concerns as a customer along with several other members of EM and they are not addressed by the Manager (Lexie?), but the Manager addresses other concerns about beer and gluten free bread, then I feel that a review is warranted. The Manager is also very unprofessional. They are very slow getting orders out, refilling water, etc. On one occasion, my husband and I watched 2 young ladies get completely forgotten about after they placed a to go order. The servers are also need improvement. It's not appropriate to talk about customers you've had issue with in the open restaurant while you have customers dining right next to you. The food and the menu could use some improvement. The menu is very limited with sandwiches, and a small entree menu. The fries are potato wedges and every time we have ordered them they've been dry and they looked like they'd been sitting out all day. Perhaps overcooked? The atmosphere of the cafe is nice. Myself and another member of the community also expressed concern about not feeling welcome at times and the Manager completely ignored these comments, but she addressed other members of the community regarding overpriced beer and gluten free bread. We will not be dining at this establishment again until things improve. read more

Let me preface this by saying that my many members of my family have been to Grounds Bistro and have both enjoyed the food and coffee. This place came highly recommended when I decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. I'm rating them low based on my experience for two key reasons: 1) service + communication and 2) menu. My stepdad and I woke up early to grab some coffee and breakfast here. We arrived around 7:30am on Sunday and noticed the door was locked and everything was dark inside. Weird. I had checked their website prior to coming and Yelp - both said open 7am. We drove around and figured someone could be running late so we'd give it until 8. At 8am, there was no signs of anyone so we went home. I was visiting my family from out of state and my stepdad was really looking forward to catching up. A little past 9am, I called, figuring - it's worth a shot. Someone answered and said they were open. Awesome! Was really excited. We headed over. We ordered breakfast and noticed the place was already getting busy. My stepdad's food came out - no sign of drinks yet. His grits were slightly warm at best - he was hungry so didn't say a thing. Our warm drinks arrived when he was about halfway through with his meal. I ordered a dirty chai. The menu description sounded great - nice spices, black tea and I could sub for a different milk! The chai arrived and I noticed it was super sweet. Hungry and craving something, I finished it and asked the waiter what sweetener was used. He shared that they buy the chai already premade from a box - just mix the milk. Already filled with sugar. I was pretty disappointed with this - at the price they're charging, and the way it was described on the menu, seems to be a misrepresentation of reality. My stepdad and I enjoyed the rest of our breakfast catching up - we waited a very long time for any additional request - for example, we asked for water and it came out when I was done with my 16oz chai. Once we were ready to leave, we noticed our waiter was caught up with other tables and so after waiting a while, I flagged down some of his fellow coworkers to ask for our bill. Our bill took a while unfortunately, too. Their wifi was down and so it was difficult for them to run my credit card. That would have been fine if they would have communicated that to me. I happened to have cash on hand and could have paid. Instead, we were left waiting once again. One thing I didn't make note of is that we noticed in looking at the Monday - Saturday menu, that the cost of one of the breakfast options that was included in the Brunch menu, is higher. I'm all for a reasonable and sound business model, but if you can't deliver on exceptional service to warrant a higher price you pass onto your customers, then I'd suggest improving first and then charging a premium when you get to top grade quality. I hope this is review is taken as constructive vs a bash. Like I mentioned- my family highly recommended this place. I'm sure for the most part it is great. Sundays however have a big opportunity to improve. read more

A little pricey, but the quality of the food was excellent. Their bistro fries perfectly complemented the high quality ingredients of the burger. The wife had the special of the evening: chicken Parmesan over linguine; only critique is that the sauce was not thick or flavorful. The chicken however was perfectly breaded and the pasta al dente. This is such an amazing place to have in our neighborhood! The menu, drinks, desserts and specialties are always consistently delicious. The decor is so inviting and the staff is both personable and professional. They have themed nights, karaoke, taco Tuesday, comedy and the seasons are always decorated with such style and enthusiasm. They have outdoor dining also and allow your dog to join you on the patio! A wonderful place to meet with friends and just enjoy the food, drinks and overall atmosphere! What a great find! I was in standstill traffic on Interstate 95, was starving, and desperately got off an an exit that had no advertised food options. They were serving Sunday brunch and all the food was delicious. The chicken and waffles was the bomb! The chicken was obviously freshly fried. Lovely neighborhood cafe! Very nice staff, prompt service, and the food is great. The only downside to this cafe is that there is constantly construction going on and it can be a bit noisy. However, it's remained open during remodeling, so def recommend trying if you can. Love their hot chocolate! read more

Looking for a new breakfast location, I thought I'd try Grounds Bistro, based on the the Yelp reviews. Much to my surprise, at 8:15 am, all they were offering were Blueberry Muffins and Cupcakes. I ordered a muffin and triple espresso. They were served promptly with espresso running down the side of the cup and no fork nor even napkin. Both, however, were very good. The muffin tasted fresh and moist with a crunchy sugar topping. It was loaded with plump, sweet blueberries. The espresso was a good pull, with good flavor - bold and bright, with a nice crema. After sitting for too long... I finally went to the bar, found the host on his smartphone and asked for my check. $10.38 for muffin and coffee. Sorry, I won't be back. read more

It's a small place in the relatively new subdivision of Embry mill with a limited menu but my wife and I stopped in one afternoon to give it a try. We had the Loaded Nachos and the Turkey Pesto Panini and were thrilled with the presentation and the flavor. The staff is friendly and engaging and the general atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Although not on the regular menu, there were some pastries that the server just happened to mention and convinced us to try. They were sinfully delicious. The food at this place is extremely good...just don't get the pasta. wait times are kind of long. My biggest problem with this place was that I tried to book the place for an event and the lady was very rude and told us that she was going to charge us almost $3.00 per hot dog...not including everything else and that because they are loosing business by letting us have this event that she would increase the price to book it dramatically. I've been here three times before. The first two were great, the third mediocre and today, horrible. We were ignored by our server most of the time, food arrived at completely different times and tasted bad. Large fry was half the size of the last time we were here. They didn't give us what we asked for for sauces, got it wrong the second time too, burned the burger, the buns seemed frozen and had a weird texture, they forgot our cinnamon roll, the crab salad tasted watery and flavorless. Any other day I would've written a 4 or 5 star review for this restaurant, but the service was just horrible. I placed a to go order and because I ordered a lot I expected to wait at least 35 min. 45 min later I see one dish come out they didn't know who it belonged to and left it sitting there. I get up and the other waitress informs her colleague that it was mine but it should be to go and a lot is missing. So after touching things every where she uses her bare hands in front of me and slide them in to go boxes. I asked again about the rest of my food they say it's coming out. 15min later I let them know I do not want the two dishes because they did not start the rest of my order until 15min earlier. She was nice enough to remove them from my order and comp my wings. Still it seem as though they were irritated, when I had every right to be upset but yet I maintained my composure and sincerity. Leave get home and the fries were still missing ugh. The food was ok but rushed and chicken tenders fell completely apart and wings were not cooked all the way and had to finish them in my oven.
