Visiting from CT and love this cute little coffee shop! They even use coffee ice cubes so your iced-whatever doesn't get watered down. Great coffee (and muffins). Also, there's a story in the pickup area. IYKYK #thisisntpaul #someonetellpaul

Just stopped in on my way through and have fallen in love! Lots of dairy and gluten free treats and amazing coffee. The best part, the ice cubes in my iced coffee are made of coffee!!!!! No loss of flavor here. I had the dairy free banana bread and am amazed by how good it tasted. Definitely try this place out of you have the opportunity to do so!

What a great place! We knew Grounds was opening up a couple of months ago and they had been doing their due diligence with the town Planning Board and other administrative chores. Well, they are open now, in the same place where we closed for our home after we arrived in New London, the old Colby Real Estate building. The place has been totally refurbished and remodeled to give it a Norman Rockwell feeling and it does indeed feel like a trip back to New England. Entering from the outside, the outside porch is a first welcoming part of the venue. Best on a Spring or early Summer or Fall day to admire the flowers and gardens. Once inside, the beautiful and airy inside porch has windows on three sides, comfortable seating and plants galore, giving the guest a homey feeling. Once inside Grounds, the beautiful decor is as attractive as the merchandise. Fine chocolates in the display cases, a massive jellybean stand with mixed and single-source jellybeans, a variety display and then, the piece de resistance, the coffee and pastries bar. Yum. The service is superb. A variety of syrups as well as dairy and non-dairy substitutes are offered to enhance the espresso experience. Grounds is a definite plus in our town. It will surely become an institution of fine service and excellence.

Love this place! Love the deco, the coffee , the food and the candy. Found this place as I was leaving town can't wait to go back . The owner and her mother were both so welcoming. The hot chocolate was delicious and so nicely served. Loves the coffee. The persecco chocolates were delicious, we tried a bunch of different chocolates and loved them all. Really cute merchandise. Great combination of coffee shop Candy store and gift shop. Great places to sit and hang out with your coffee. Can't wait to go back.

At every step along the way ... and that includes planning, discussing menus and prices and venue setup .. the staff was responsive, kind, fun, clear and very professional. On the day of the event the lovely Oak Room was the perfect setting for our party, the buffet that was set out for us was beyond delicious, and throughout the day waitstaff were whisking seamlessly about making sure plates were cleared, drinks were poured and we wanted for nothing. Among the outstanding menu items: a smoked salmon bagel bar that was fantastic (we're from Maine and very picky about our seafood!) I'd highly recommend hosting your event/party at The New London Inn.

I was so frazzled by then, I couldn't think straight and was planning on sleeping in my car, hoping I wouldn't get woken by the cops or a snow plow. But the wonderful woman who had just gotten off duty at the front desk heard my story, she quickly arranged for me to check in at the Inn. The room was nicely appointed and cozy and I was infinitely grateful to be snuggled in a very comfortable bed for the next 18 hours of howling winds and so much snow... The entire staff looked out for me as I waited out the storm and worked at calming my nerves enough to get back on the road. I had dinner the next day from the restaurant down stairs: a delicious burger the host brought to my room. The next day the same lady who saved me from the gas station floor leant me her own snow brush (which was a beaut!) so I could get back on the road, much calmer and happier than when I had got off. Thank you for the rescue and for the yummy chocolate chip cookies, New London Inn! I am forever grateful

The proceeds from the event will be shared to support youth recreation in New London as well as college and trade scholarships, literacy initiatives, and special charitable assistance by the Rotary Club. This year's event was a mid-scale plan and hosted 11 food trucks ranging from French fries and hamburgers to Burmese food. It was a superb and eclectic variety of food. The weather cooperated as it was an absolutely gorgeous day. However, the size of the crowd exceeded all expectations and over 1,200 people showed up to enjoy a delicious array of food The busiest truck was perhaps a grilled cheese truck that was the favorite with children and there was easily a 45-minute wait to get food. Next to it, a Home made French fries truck was also commanding half hour waits. On the other side, a Jamaican food truck, a Cajun truck, and a seafood truck with amazing lobster rolls were some of the salient ones. Towards the middle, a Burmese food stand and a cupcake dessert truck were available. Two great local establishments also made a hit. Grounds Coffeehouse provided muffins and gluten-free bakery items and fresh-roasted coffee. And Salt Hill Pub's local brew selections were presented in a fenced-in area. It absolutely rocked this year. And next year it's going to be even better.

The tables and chairs are thick, heavy, rustic wood reminiscent of a country kitchen, and the acoustics are pretty good! No echoes or a need to yell to friends or family at your own table. The service is stellar! Lots of students work here and they are top notch. The food is outstanding. Their hash browns are literally the best I have ever had. They are wispy and crispy, and will not leave grease on your plate or in your belly. The eggs are always perfect, no matter how you ask for them, and the pancakes are the best you can get without making them yourself at home. They are served with a syrup, but for $2.00 extra (at the time of this posting), you can get real maple syrup instead. By the way, their coffee is not limited to regular and decaf. The place is also tastefully decorated with lots of greens and light colors. Their menu is varied and contains not only smoothies but many other offerings, snacks, and catering. I would have given it four stars but my smoothie was, although tasty, not cold enough - almost warm. Which on a hot day, does make a significant difference. A smoothie should be cold. Really cold. Cold enough to give me brain freeze. I'm going to try a second visit to see if the look-warm smoothie was a mistake or a practice. Still, it was a pleasant visit.

I was in there to order 5 sandwiches for a family lunch, but decided for our health not to and instead just bought a couple of bottles of water. Jake's lost around $50 on us that day for everything we would have bought for lunches (sandwiches, chips, dessert, etc.) Today I returned. Two customers walking around not wearing masks. I asked the nice cashier about it and she confided it's wisest for her not to comment on masks given some people who come would not take it well--and I knew precisely what she meant. Some pretty motley looking folks seem to frequent Jake's. A red-faced swaggery customer behind me--not wearing a mask--overheard me ask about masks in the store, and he starting taunting me for the type of mask I was wearing. I decided I didn't want to be anywhere near someone like that, or be in that store, so I left. Other than this clear problem with masks and sometimes quite seedy looking people working in the store (not the female cashiers who are nice and seem pretty normal) and sometimes pretty creepy looking folks hanging around the parking lot, Jake's has really good coffee, an interesting and wide variety of foods, and their homemade sandwiches tend to be delicious. You can also get Vermont made ice cream and home-baked dog biscuits, and other assorted things. When I got back to my parents' house I mentioned what happened. My brother said he'd never go to Jake's for that reason and my Dad said their friends don't go there anymore due to lack of masks (they're older).
